The female cone of the mutant clone looked like normal, but its ovules degenerated in the early stage. This paper tries to find out the reason and time of ovule abortion. It seems that the ovule abortion is probably caused by female sterility because the microspores of this mutant clone were normal. Through the serial observations on the one-year-old macrosporangiates and the ovules of two-year-old female cones of mutant and normal clone, it is found that the reason of ovule abortion in mutant clone is the failure of the mitosis of free nuclei in the female gametophyte, and the time is about in the early April.展开更多

Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) is a ...Background: The sexual function is an essential aspect of life for women irrespective of age because it is closely correlated with overall wellbeing and relationship satisfaction. Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) is a common public health issue that is defined as one or more problems of female sexual desire, arousal, orgasm and/or sexual pain/discomfort that leads to significant distress. Aim: This study aimed to assess the female sexual function among Libyan women. Methods and materials: This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out at Tripoli University Hospital over six months duration between January and June 2024. It included 314 female participants who attended the hospital during that period. The data underwent analysis and prescription via a computerized program of SPSS version 24. Results: The most frequent age range was between 26 to 35 years accounting for 54.8% (172). The mean duration of marriage was 7.42 years ± 7.228 SD. The majority of participants were multipara accounting for 79.9% (251). Based on the classification of female sexual dysfunction severity, 41.7% (131) of participants had mild to moderate severity followed by 32.2% (101) had mild severity with an overall female sexual dysfunction rate of 81.2% (255). Based on female sexual function characteristics, 28.3% (89) had abnormal desire, 22% (69) had abnormal arousal, 55.4% (174) had abnormal lubrication, 24.5% (77) had undetected orgasm, 23.2% (73) had inappropriate satisfaction and 19.1% (60) had pain. Conclusion: The overall rate of female sexual dysfunction among Libyan women was (81.2%) which is considered high but with low severity, (41.7%) had mild to moderate dysfunction followed by (32.2%) with mild dysfunction. These findings had significant effects on sexual life and marital status which require a basic strategy approach to increase sexual awareness and marital counseling among couples and to avoid adverse sexual dysfunction consequences such as divorce, marital problems, insufficient sexual satisfaction, and psychosocial concern.展开更多

It is a significant way to utilize hybrid vigor to enhance crop yield. Ogu cytoplasmic male sterility(CMS) is a natural cytoplasmic male sterility type discovered in radishes, being successfully transferred to rapeseed and cruciferous vegetables. However, current studies lack depth in exploring the molecular mechanisms of its male sterility. This study confirmed that orf138 is the causal gene for Ogu CMS through the genetic transformation in Arabidopsis. Transcriptome analysis of aborted anthers in different stages suggested that differentially expressed genes(DEGs) are mainly enriched in pathways such as glycerophospholipid metabolism and arginine and proline metabolism. It reveals that key genes involved in lipid metabolism pathways are significantly down-regulated in the sterile line(OguA), including BnaGPAT1, localized within the tapetum mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum. This could lead to changes in the metabolism of substances like acylglycerols within the tapetum, causing disruptions in lipid metabolism. This is consistent with morphological and subcellular structural changes in the tapetum and microspore cells, as observed in the transmission electron microscopy. This abnormal lipid metabolism may trigger specific reactive oxygen species(ROS) accumulation in an oxidative stress response, ultimately leading to an aborted microspore. Our study based on transcriptome has deepened our understanding of the molecular mechanisms in Ogu CMS.展开更多
Honglian type-cytoplasmic male sterility(HL-CMS)is caused by the inter-communication between the nucleus and mitochondria.However,the mechanisms by which sterility genes regulate metabolic alterations and changes in m...Honglian type-cytoplasmic male sterility(HL-CMS)is caused by the inter-communication between the nucleus and mitochondria.However,the mechanisms by which sterility genes regulate metabolic alterations and changes in mitochondrial morphology in the pollen of HL-CMS remain unclear.In this study,we compared the morphological differences between the pollen of the male sterile line YA and the near-isogenic line NIL-Rf6 using hematoxylin-eosin staining and 4ʹ,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole(DAPI)staining.HL-CMS is characterized by gametophytic sterility,where the aborted pollen grains are empty,and the tapetal layer remains intact.Transmission electron microscopy was employed to observe mitochondrial morphological changes at the microspore stage,revealing significant mitochondrial alterations,characterized by the formation of'large spherical mitochondria',occurred at the binucleate stage in the YA line.Additionally,metabolomics analysis revealed decreased levels of metabolites associated with the carbohydrate and flavonoid pathways.Notably,the decrease in flavonoids was found to contribute to an elevation in reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels.Therefore,we propose a model in which rice fertility is modulated by the levels of pollen carbohydrates and flavonoid metabolites,with impaired mitochondrial energy production and reduced flavonoid biosynthesis as the main causes of ROS accumulation and pollen abortion in rice.展开更多

Methods: The...Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate health education using videos and leaflets for preconception care (PCC) awareness among adolescent females up to six months after the health education. Methods: The subjects were female university students living in the Kinki area. A longitudinal survey was conducted on 67 members in the intervention group, who received the health education, and 52 members in the control group, who did not receive the health education. The primary outcome measures were knowledge of PCC and the subscales of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile. Surveys were conducted before, after, and six months after the intervention in the intervention group, and an initial survey and survey six months later were conducted in the control group. Cochran’s Q test, Bonferroni’s multiple comparison test, and McNemar’s test were used to analyze the knowledge of PCC data. The Health Awareness, Nutrition, and Stress Management subscales of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile were analyzed by paired t-test, and comparisons between the intervention and control groups were performed using the two-way repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: In the intervention group of 67 people, the number of subjects who answered “correct” for five of the nine items concerning knowledge of PCC increased immediately after the health education (P = 0.006) but decreased for five items from immediately after the health education to six months later (P = 0.043). In addition, the number of respondents who answered “correct” for “low birth weight infants and future lifestyle-related diseases” (P = 0.016) increased after six months compared with before the health education. For the 52 subjects in the control group, there was no change in the number of subjects who answered “correct” for eight out of the nine items after six months. There was also no increase in scores for the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile after six months for either the intervention or control group. Conclusion: Providing health education about PCC using videos and leaflets to adolescent females was shown to enhance the knowledge of PCC immediately after the education.展开更多

As a prerequisite for sexual reproduction,gametophyte development is an interesting process involving cell proliferation,differentiation and specialization.Gametogenesis has been extensively explored in model plants,b...As a prerequisite for sexual reproduction,gametophyte development is an interesting process involving cell proliferation,differentiation and specialization.Gametogenesis has been extensively explored in model plants,but the regulatory mechanism of gametophyte development largely remains unknown in Cucurbitaceae species.In present study,we have shown that watermelon ClBBM and ClPLT2,two AP2/ERF transcription factors,participated in both male and female gametophyte development.Clbbm and Clplt2 single mutants resembled wild-type phenotypes in both vegetative and reproductive development.But Clbbm/Clplt2 double mutant showed partial pollen abortion and bore less seeds comparing to WT.Our results indicated that the abnormal pollen grains were caused by premature tapetum degeneration,and reduced seed-set was due to faulty embryo sac development.ClBBM and ClPLT2 were expressed in FG4 embryo sacs,and their transcripts were also detectable in the tapetum and microspore of stage 9 anthers,which was consistent with developmental stages of defective phenotypes observed in double mutant.The expression of genes essential for tapetum development,ClATM1,ClAMS,ClMS1 and ClMS188,was decreased in Clbbm/Clplt2 double mutants.Moreover,the transcriptome analysis indicated that ClBBM and ClPLT2 participated in tapetum and pollen wall development by regulate cell cycle,transmembrane transport,glucan and cellulose metabolic process.Collectively,ClBBM and ClPLT2 were functionally redundant in regulating gametophyte development in watermelon,and their functions differ from their homologous genes in model plant Arabidopsis.展开更多

Generally speaking, the pathophysiological pathway frequently involves either (or a combination of) elevated serum cholesterol levels, predominantly attributed to dietary patterns characterized by extremely high levels of saturated and trans-fat consumption. Day-to-day nutritional epidemiology among university students suggests that they represent a crucial demographic for the study of preventive interventions. Objective: This in-depth study and investigation were specifically aimed to quantitatively assess and compare prevailing patterns of dietary fat consumption between female students enrolled in health sciences and non-health sciences programs at major universities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Methodology: This cross-sectional study was comprised of 434 Saudi female university students (age range: 18 - 25 years), utilizing a validated Block Dietary Fat Screener accompanied by anthropometric measurements and comprehensive demographic data collection. The sampling methodology consisted of a snowball technique that was spread across three major academic institutions in Riyadh. Results: Statistical analysis revealed a significant association between academic specialization and patterns of dietary fat consumption (p = 0.012). Paradoxically, students of health science exhibited a higher prevalence of very high fat intake (41.9%) compared with their non-health sciences counterparts (27.6%). Surprisingly, anthropometric stratification revealed that it was the underweight students who demonstrated very high levels of fat consumption. A notable socioeconomic gradient was observed, with students from households earning 15,000 - 20,000 SR monthly showing the highest prevalence of very high-fat consumption (47.1%), although this association did not achieve statistical significance (p = 0.104). Conclusion: These findings challenge the conventional assumption that health sciences education correlates with superior dietary behaviors. The data suggests a critical need for enhanced education in nutrition, as well as intervention using various behavioral programs across all academic disciplines, particularly those addressing the disconnect between nutritional knowledge and dietary practices among students of health sciences. Future longitudinal studies are warranted in order to elucidate the temporal relationship between academic specialization and dietary behaviors.展开更多
Background:Preparticipation examinations(PPEs)are unstandardized screening tools routinely used to collect an athlete's baseline health information prior to the start of a new competitive season.However,many PPEs ...Background:Preparticipation examinations(PPEs)are unstandardized screening tools routinely used to collect an athlete's baseline health information prior to the start of a new competitive season.However,many PPEs include minimal and often nonspecific questions related to the health concerns of female athletes.A lack of female athlete specific health questions could result in missed red flags and subsequent injury or illness.As such,the objectives of this scoping review were to(a)determine what female athlete specific health questions currently exist in PPEs in the scientific literature to prevent injury and illness,and(b)map the results against the health domains outlined in the International Olympic Committee(IOC)consensus statement supplement on the female athlete.Methods:We searched Embase,Scopus,CINAHL,Medline Ovid,and SPORTDiscus from inception to December 2022.Any study with female athlete specific health PPE questions or recommendations for questions(i.e.,menstrual health,eating habits,musculoskeletal health,etc.)was included.Three reviewers independently screened titles and abstracts,followed by full text articles for eligibility and data extraction,with conflicts resolved by a third-party reviewer.Extracted data were summarized into 3 determined groupings.Results:Of the 1356 studies screened,41 were included in this study.Forty studies(98%)included questions/recommendations related to menstrual health.Thirty-one studies(76%)had questions/recommendations concerning disordered eating/eating habits.Twenty-four studies(59%)referred to body weight/image,and 16 studies(39%)referred to musculoskeletal health.No studies included questions on all IOC female athlete health domains.Conclusion:There is currently a gap in female athlete specific health content included in PPEs.A more comprehensive,standardized PPE with a focus on inclusion of female athlete specific health questions and considerations should be developed to improve health and optimal participation of female athletes around the world.展开更多
Early-life stress(ES)leads to cognitive dysfunction in female adolescents,but the underlying neural mechanisms remain elusive.Recent evidence suggests that the cell adhesion molecules NECTIN1 and NECTIN3 play a role i...Early-life stress(ES)leads to cognitive dysfunction in female adolescents,but the underlying neural mechanisms remain elusive.Recent evidence suggests that the cell adhesion molecules NECTIN1 and NECTIN3 play a role in cognition and ES-related cognitive deficits in male rodents.In this study,we aimed to investigate whether and how nectins contribute to ES-induced cognitive dysfunction in female adolescents.Applying the well-established limited bedding and nesting material paradigm,we found that ES impairs recognition memory,suppresses prefrontal NECTIN1 and hippocampal NECTIN3 expression,and upregulates corticotropin-releasing hormone(Crh)and its receptor 1(Crhr1)mRNA levels in the hippocampus of adolescent female mice.Genetic experiments revealed that the reduction of dorsal CA1(dCA1)NECTIN3 mediates ES-induced object recognition memory deficits,as knocking down dCA1 NECTIN3 impaired animals’performance in the novel object recognition task,while overexpression of dCA1 NECTIN3 successfully reversed the ES-induced deficits.Notably,prefrontal NECTIN1 knockdown did not result in significant cognitive impairments.Furthermore,acute systemic administration of antalarmin,a CRHR1 antagonist,upregulated hippocampal NECTIN3 levels and rescued object and spatial memory deficits in stressed mice.Our findings underscore the critical role of dCA1 NECTIN3 in mediating ES-induced object recognition memory deficits in adolescent female mice,highlighting it as a potential therapeutic target for stress-related psychiatric disorders in women.展开更多

BACKGROUND Economic violence is a type of domestic violence in which an intimate partner attempts to oppress,restrict,or direct a female by exercising control over her financial resources.AIM To explore the impact of ...BACKGROUND Economic violence is a type of domestic violence in which an intimate partner attempts to oppress,restrict,or direct a female by exercising control over her financial resources.AIM To explore the impact of economic abuse on individual work performance and clarify the effective factors on financial exploitation among physicians and nurses.METHODS The study has a cross-sectional design,and 305 married,female physicians and nurses working in a university hospital were included.Data was collected with demographic characteristics forms,“Revised Scale of Economic Abuse”and“Individual Work Performance Questionnaire”.Pearson correlation,comparative analyses,and internal consistency reliability tests were used.RESULTS The average age was 39.04±9.41.Among the respondents 69.2%were nurses and 63.9%held a bachelor’s degree.The mean score for the Revised Scale of Economic Abuse was 2.80±4.73 while it was 3.86±0.60 for the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire.CONCLUSION Our study revealed no relationship between economic abuse and individual work performance,confirming that nurses are exposed to more economic abuse and exploitation than physicians and exhibit higher work performance.展开更多
Background:Existing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)prediction models lack transferability and generalizability when applied to female populations,resulting in diminished performance and inadequate tools for accurate HCC...Background:Existing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)prediction models lack transferability and generalizability when applied to female populations,resulting in diminished performance and inadequate tools for accurate HCC risk stratification among females.This study aims to develop and validate a score-based prediction model for early detection of HCC in female hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)carriers.Methods:Participants were recruited from a multicenter prospective cohort engaged in liver cancer screening across China including seven high-risk rural areas and one additional high-risk rural area.The study involved 7080 females as the derivation cohort and 2069 as the validation cohort,with all participants aged 35-70 years and HBsAg positive.Laboratory tests and epidemiological surveys were conducted.Key predictor variables were identified through LASSO regression analysis,and score-based prediction models were developed based on Cox proportional hazards model.Model performance including discrimination and calibration was evaluated,and compared to existing prediction models and screening strategies.Results:After a median follow-up of 3.69 and 5.42 years,147 and 45 HCC cases were identified in the derivation and validation cohorts,respectively.The female HCC(HCCF)model incorporating five independent variables:age,α-fetoprotein(AFP),albumin,alanine aminotransferase,and platelet,showed excellent performance with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)of 0.82(95%CI:0.78-0.86).The HCCF-Enhanced model which included cirrhosis,achieved an AUC of 0.85(95%CI:0.81-0.89).Both models demonstrated superior predictive performance than existing models,with strong predictive accuracy in the validation cohort:AUCs of 0.83(95%CI:0.77-0.89)and 0.88(95%CI:0.83-0.92),respectively.The HCCF model,at a score threshold of 7,achieved the largest Youden’s index and identified 32.80%of high-risk individuals.When combined with ultrasonography(US),the model detected 37 additional cases,significantly improved screening sensitivity and accuracy compared to the traditional AFP plus US strategy.Conclusions:The developed HCCF models with good performance for HCC prediction in HBsAg-positive females significantly improve screening efficiency and provide an effective tool for surveillance,ultimately helping to optimize prevention and management strategies for HCC.展开更多

文摘Vegetable crops are greatly appreciated for their beneficial nutritional and health components.Hybrid seeds are widely used in vegetable crops for advantages such as high yield and improved resistance,which require the participation of male(stamen)and female(pistil)reproductive organs.Male-or female-sterile plants are commonly used for production of hybrid seeds or seedless fruits in vegetables.In this review we will focus on the types of genic male sterility and factors affecting female fertility,summarize typical gene function and research progress related to reproductive organ identity and sporophyte and gametophyte development in vegetable crops[mainly tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)and cucumber(Cucumis sativus)],and discuss the research trends and application perspectives of the sterile trait in vegetable breeding and hybrid production,in order to provide a reference for fertility-related germplasm innovation.
文摘Background: The sexual function is an essential aspect of life for women irrespective of age because it is closely correlated with overall wellbeing and relationship satisfaction. Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) is a common public health issue that is defined as one or more problems of female sexual desire, arousal, orgasm and/or sexual pain/discomfort that leads to significant distress. Aim: This study aimed to assess the female sexual function among Libyan women. Methods and materials: This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out at Tripoli University Hospital over six months duration between January and June 2024. It included 314 female participants who attended the hospital during that period. The data underwent analysis and prescription via a computerized program of SPSS version 24. Results: The most frequent age range was between 26 to 35 years accounting for 54.8% (172). The mean duration of marriage was 7.42 years ± 7.228 SD. The majority of participants were multipara accounting for 79.9% (251). Based on the classification of female sexual dysfunction severity, 41.7% (131) of participants had mild to moderate severity followed by 32.2% (101) had mild severity with an overall female sexual dysfunction rate of 81.2% (255). Based on female sexual function characteristics, 28.3% (89) had abnormal desire, 22% (69) had abnormal arousal, 55.4% (174) had abnormal lubrication, 24.5% (77) had undetected orgasm, 23.2% (73) had inappropriate satisfaction and 19.1% (60) had pain. Conclusion: The overall rate of female sexual dysfunction among Libyan women was (81.2%) which is considered high but with low severity, (41.7%) had mild to moderate dysfunction followed by (32.2%) with mild dysfunction. These findings had significant effects on sexual life and marital status which require a basic strategy approach to increase sexual awareness and marital counseling among couples and to avoid adverse sexual dysfunction consequences such as divorce, marital problems, insufficient sexual satisfaction, and psychosocial concern.

文摘Mutations and rearrangements of mitochondrial genes cause plant cytoplasmic male sterility. It is a significant way to utilize hybrid vigor to enhance crop yield. Ogu cytoplasmic male sterility(CMS) is a natural cytoplasmic male sterility type discovered in radishes, being successfully transferred to rapeseed and cruciferous vegetables. However, current studies lack depth in exploring the molecular mechanisms of its male sterility. This study confirmed that orf138 is the causal gene for Ogu CMS through the genetic transformation in Arabidopsis. Transcriptome analysis of aborted anthers in different stages suggested that differentially expressed genes(DEGs) are mainly enriched in pathways such as glycerophospholipid metabolism and arginine and proline metabolism. It reveals that key genes involved in lipid metabolism pathways are significantly down-regulated in the sterile line(OguA), including BnaGPAT1, localized within the tapetum mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum. This could lead to changes in the metabolism of substances like acylglycerols within the tapetum, causing disruptions in lipid metabolism. This is consistent with morphological and subcellular structural changes in the tapetum and microspore cells, as observed in the transmission electron microscopy. This abnormal lipid metabolism may trigger specific reactive oxygen species(ROS) accumulation in an oxidative stress response, ultimately leading to an aborted microspore. Our study based on transcriptome has deepened our understanding of the molecular mechanisms in Ogu CMS.

文摘Honglian type-cytoplasmic male sterility(HL-CMS)is caused by the inter-communication between the nucleus and mitochondria.However,the mechanisms by which sterility genes regulate metabolic alterations and changes in mitochondrial morphology in the pollen of HL-CMS remain unclear.In this study,we compared the morphological differences between the pollen of the male sterile line YA and the near-isogenic line NIL-Rf6 using hematoxylin-eosin staining and 4ʹ,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole(DAPI)staining.HL-CMS is characterized by gametophytic sterility,where the aborted pollen grains are empty,and the tapetal layer remains intact.Transmission electron microscopy was employed to observe mitochondrial morphological changes at the microspore stage,revealing significant mitochondrial alterations,characterized by the formation of'large spherical mitochondria',occurred at the binucleate stage in the YA line.Additionally,metabolomics analysis revealed decreased levels of metabolites associated with the carbohydrate and flavonoid pathways.Notably,the decrease in flavonoids was found to contribute to an elevation in reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels.Therefore,we propose a model in which rice fertility is modulated by the levels of pollen carbohydrates and flavonoid metabolites,with impaired mitochondrial energy production and reduced flavonoid biosynthesis as the main causes of ROS accumulation and pollen abortion in rice.
文摘Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate health education using videos and leaflets for preconception care (PCC) awareness among adolescent females up to six months after the health education. Methods: The subjects were female university students living in the Kinki area. A longitudinal survey was conducted on 67 members in the intervention group, who received the health education, and 52 members in the control group, who did not receive the health education. The primary outcome measures were knowledge of PCC and the subscales of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile. Surveys were conducted before, after, and six months after the intervention in the intervention group, and an initial survey and survey six months later were conducted in the control group. Cochran’s Q test, Bonferroni’s multiple comparison test, and McNemar’s test were used to analyze the knowledge of PCC data. The Health Awareness, Nutrition, and Stress Management subscales of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile were analyzed by paired t-test, and comparisons between the intervention and control groups were performed using the two-way repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: In the intervention group of 67 people, the number of subjects who answered “correct” for five of the nine items concerning knowledge of PCC increased immediately after the health education (P = 0.006) but decreased for five items from immediately after the health education to six months later (P = 0.043). In addition, the number of respondents who answered “correct” for “low birth weight infants and future lifestyle-related diseases” (P = 0.016) increased after six months compared with before the health education. For the 52 subjects in the control group, there was no change in the number of subjects who answered “correct” for eight out of the nine items after six months. There was also no increase in scores for the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile after six months for either the intervention or control group. Conclusion: Providing health education about PCC using videos and leaflets to adolescent females was shown to enhance the knowledge of PCC immediately after the education.

文摘As a prerequisite for sexual reproduction,gametophyte development is an interesting process involving cell proliferation,differentiation and specialization.Gametogenesis has been extensively explored in model plants,but the regulatory mechanism of gametophyte development largely remains unknown in Cucurbitaceae species.In present study,we have shown that watermelon ClBBM and ClPLT2,two AP2/ERF transcription factors,participated in both male and female gametophyte development.Clbbm and Clplt2 single mutants resembled wild-type phenotypes in both vegetative and reproductive development.But Clbbm/Clplt2 double mutant showed partial pollen abortion and bore less seeds comparing to WT.Our results indicated that the abnormal pollen grains were caused by premature tapetum degeneration,and reduced seed-set was due to faulty embryo sac development.ClBBM and ClPLT2 were expressed in FG4 embryo sacs,and their transcripts were also detectable in the tapetum and microspore of stage 9 anthers,which was consistent with developmental stages of defective phenotypes observed in double mutant.The expression of genes essential for tapetum development,ClATM1,ClAMS,ClMS1 and ClMS188,was decreased in Clbbm/Clplt2 double mutants.Moreover,the transcriptome analysis indicated that ClBBM and ClPLT2 participated in tapetum and pollen wall development by regulate cell cycle,transmembrane transport,glucan and cellulose metabolic process.Collectively,ClBBM and ClPLT2 were functionally redundant in regulating gametophyte development in watermelon,and their functions differ from their homologous genes in model plant Arabidopsis.
文摘Background: In the global burden of non-communicable diseases, the top slot among them all is occupied by various cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which also claim primacy in mortality rates. Generally speaking, the pathophysiological pathway frequently involves either (or a combination of) elevated serum cholesterol levels, predominantly attributed to dietary patterns characterized by extremely high levels of saturated and trans-fat consumption. Day-to-day nutritional epidemiology among university students suggests that they represent a crucial demographic for the study of preventive interventions. Objective: This in-depth study and investigation were specifically aimed to quantitatively assess and compare prevailing patterns of dietary fat consumption between female students enrolled in health sciences and non-health sciences programs at major universities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Methodology: This cross-sectional study was comprised of 434 Saudi female university students (age range: 18 - 25 years), utilizing a validated Block Dietary Fat Screener accompanied by anthropometric measurements and comprehensive demographic data collection. The sampling methodology consisted of a snowball technique that was spread across three major academic institutions in Riyadh. Results: Statistical analysis revealed a significant association between academic specialization and patterns of dietary fat consumption (p = 0.012). Paradoxically, students of health science exhibited a higher prevalence of very high fat intake (41.9%) compared with their non-health sciences counterparts (27.6%). Surprisingly, anthropometric stratification revealed that it was the underweight students who demonstrated very high levels of fat consumption. A notable socioeconomic gradient was observed, with students from households earning 15,000 - 20,000 SR monthly showing the highest prevalence of very high-fat consumption (47.1%), although this association did not achieve statistical significance (p = 0.104). Conclusion: These findings challenge the conventional assumption that health sciences education correlates with superior dietary behaviors. The data suggests a critical need for enhanced education in nutrition, as well as intervention using various behavioral programs across all academic disciplines, particularly those addressing the disconnect between nutritional knowledge and dietary practices among students of health sciences. Future longitudinal studies are warranted in order to elucidate the temporal relationship between academic specialization and dietary behaviors.

文摘Background:Preparticipation examinations(PPEs)are unstandardized screening tools routinely used to collect an athlete's baseline health information prior to the start of a new competitive season.However,many PPEs include minimal and often nonspecific questions related to the health concerns of female athletes.A lack of female athlete specific health questions could result in missed red flags and subsequent injury or illness.As such,the objectives of this scoping review were to(a)determine what female athlete specific health questions currently exist in PPEs in the scientific literature to prevent injury and illness,and(b)map the results against the health domains outlined in the International Olympic Committee(IOC)consensus statement supplement on the female athlete.Methods:We searched Embase,Scopus,CINAHL,Medline Ovid,and SPORTDiscus from inception to December 2022.Any study with female athlete specific health PPE questions or recommendations for questions(i.e.,menstrual health,eating habits,musculoskeletal health,etc.)was included.Three reviewers independently screened titles and abstracts,followed by full text articles for eligibility and data extraction,with conflicts resolved by a third-party reviewer.Extracted data were summarized into 3 determined groupings.Results:Of the 1356 studies screened,41 were included in this study.Forty studies(98%)included questions/recommendations related to menstrual health.Thirty-one studies(76%)had questions/recommendations concerning disordered eating/eating habits.Twenty-four studies(59%)referred to body weight/image,and 16 studies(39%)referred to musculoskeletal health.No studies included questions on all IOC female athlete health domains.Conclusion:There is currently a gap in female athlete specific health content included in PPEs.A more comprehensive,standardized PPE with a focus on inclusion of female athlete specific health questions and considerations should be developed to improve health and optimal participation of female athletes around the world.

文摘Early-life stress(ES)leads to cognitive dysfunction in female adolescents,but the underlying neural mechanisms remain elusive.Recent evidence suggests that the cell adhesion molecules NECTIN1 and NECTIN3 play a role in cognition and ES-related cognitive deficits in male rodents.In this study,we aimed to investigate whether and how nectins contribute to ES-induced cognitive dysfunction in female adolescents.Applying the well-established limited bedding and nesting material paradigm,we found that ES impairs recognition memory,suppresses prefrontal NECTIN1 and hippocampal NECTIN3 expression,and upregulates corticotropin-releasing hormone(Crh)and its receptor 1(Crhr1)mRNA levels in the hippocampus of adolescent female mice.Genetic experiments revealed that the reduction of dorsal CA1(dCA1)NECTIN3 mediates ES-induced object recognition memory deficits,as knocking down dCA1 NECTIN3 impaired animals’performance in the novel object recognition task,while overexpression of dCA1 NECTIN3 successfully reversed the ES-induced deficits.Notably,prefrontal NECTIN1 knockdown did not result in significant cognitive impairments.Furthermore,acute systemic administration of antalarmin,a CRHR1 antagonist,upregulated hippocampal NECTIN3 levels and rescued object and spatial memory deficits in stressed mice.Our findings underscore the critical role of dCA1 NECTIN3 in mediating ES-induced object recognition memory deficits in adolescent female mice,highlighting it as a potential therapeutic target for stress-related psychiatric disorders in women.

文摘This study employs leadership contingency theory and resource dependency theory,utilizing financial data from Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies between 2012 and 2021.Ultimately,data samples from 4,742 companies were selected to empirically examine the impact and moderating role of female executives on corporate digital transformation.Findings reveal that the proportion of female executives positively promotes corporate digital transformation.Further analysis indicates that female executives drive digital transformation by enhancing corporate innovation investment and risk control capabilities.Supported by the heterogeneity analysis,it shows that this effect is more pronounced in high-tech industries,non-state-owned enterprises,and companies in economically developed regions.This study provides a gender-perspective theoretical explanation for the drivers of digital transformation and offers practical insights for optimizing corporate executive teams.

文摘Citrus,which has been consumed internationally for a long time,is widely used as a health food.Citrus and its active components exert significant effects on oxidative stress and lipid metabolism,which are closely associated with female reproductive health.Studies suggest that citrus-derived compounds may alleviate oxidative stress by activating signaling pathways such as nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)and Sirtuin 1(SIRT1),and improve lipid metabolism through the activation of pathways such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorα(PPARα).This review focuses on the effects of Citrus on oxidative stress and lipid metabolism,aiming to provide new insights for promoting female reproductive health;however,further work is needed to elucidate the mechanisms involved and validate the therapeutic potential of Citrus’s bioactive components in clinical settings.
文摘BACKGROUND Economic violence is a type of domestic violence in which an intimate partner attempts to oppress,restrict,or direct a female by exercising control over her financial resources.AIM To explore the impact of economic abuse on individual work performance and clarify the effective factors on financial exploitation among physicians and nurses.METHODS The study has a cross-sectional design,and 305 married,female physicians and nurses working in a university hospital were included.Data was collected with demographic characteristics forms,“Revised Scale of Economic Abuse”and“Individual Work Performance Questionnaire”.Pearson correlation,comparative analyses,and internal consistency reliability tests were used.RESULTS The average age was 39.04±9.41.Among the respondents 69.2%were nurses and 63.9%held a bachelor’s degree.The mean score for the Revised Scale of Economic Abuse was 2.80±4.73 while it was 3.86±0.60 for the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire.CONCLUSION Our study revealed no relationship between economic abuse and individual work performance,confirming that nurses are exposed to more economic abuse and exploitation than physicians and exhibit higher work performance.

文摘Background:Existing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)prediction models lack transferability and generalizability when applied to female populations,resulting in diminished performance and inadequate tools for accurate HCC risk stratification among females.This study aims to develop and validate a score-based prediction model for early detection of HCC in female hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)carriers.Methods:Participants were recruited from a multicenter prospective cohort engaged in liver cancer screening across China including seven high-risk rural areas and one additional high-risk rural area.The study involved 7080 females as the derivation cohort and 2069 as the validation cohort,with all participants aged 35-70 years and HBsAg positive.Laboratory tests and epidemiological surveys were conducted.Key predictor variables were identified through LASSO regression analysis,and score-based prediction models were developed based on Cox proportional hazards model.Model performance including discrimination and calibration was evaluated,and compared to existing prediction models and screening strategies.Results:After a median follow-up of 3.69 and 5.42 years,147 and 45 HCC cases were identified in the derivation and validation cohorts,respectively.The female HCC(HCCF)model incorporating five independent variables:age,α-fetoprotein(AFP),albumin,alanine aminotransferase,and platelet,showed excellent performance with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)of 0.82(95%CI:0.78-0.86).The HCCF-Enhanced model which included cirrhosis,achieved an AUC of 0.85(95%CI:0.81-0.89).Both models demonstrated superior predictive performance than existing models,with strong predictive accuracy in the validation cohort:AUCs of 0.83(95%CI:0.77-0.89)and 0.88(95%CI:0.83-0.92),respectively.The HCCF model,at a score threshold of 7,achieved the largest Youden’s index and identified 32.80%of high-risk individuals.When combined with ultrasonography(US),the model detected 37 additional cases,significantly improved screening sensitivity and accuracy compared to the traditional AFP plus US strategy.Conclusions:The developed HCCF models with good performance for HCC prediction in HBsAg-positive females significantly improve screening efficiency and provide an effective tool for surveillance,ultimately helping to optimize prevention and management strategies for HCC.
