The manufacture and process control of as-cast ductile iron are discussed. The microstructure, properties and application of partial austenitization normalizing ductile iron and austempered ductile iron (ADI) are briefly depicted. The new development of ductile iron production techniques, such as cored-wire injection (wire-feeding nodularization) process, tundish cover ladle nodularizing process, horizontal continuous casting, and EPC process (lost foam) for ductile iron castings, etc., are summarized. 展开更多

Framework to Design Type-based Transfer Processes Between Technology and Product Development

To stay globally competitive, manufacturing companies are increasingly under pressure to bring new products and applications to market, improve existing products, and discover new technologies to produce them at a lower price. New technological findings can enable companies to overcome these challenges. In practice, technology development associated with a long time horizon is often given a lower priority compared with short-term focused product development thus being stronger restricted by everyday business. More and more companies separate their technology development department from product development to promote technological innovations. Due to this additional interface in the R&D organization new problems arise, resulting in technologies not being implemented in products. The reasons for these problems amongst others concern wrong timing for the transfer or inadequate definition of responsibilities. In this paper of ongoing research, authors introduce a framework to design the transfer processes between technology development and product development. Although there are a number of options for designing the operative transfer, there is no regulatory framework specifying which configuration options are at this particular interface. The approach is to develop a model, which is able to design different company-specific transfer processes taking into account the object being transferred at this interface. Thus, for different objects to be transferred, different transfer processes are designed. The model's aim is to enable responsibility of the R&D management to design their company-specific transfer processes to enable more technologies being implemented into products, thus giving the whole company the possibility to act more innovatively. 展开更多

Since the approval to establishment,the Changning-Weiyuan National Shale Gas Demonstration Area in the Sichuan Basin(hereinafter referred to as Demonstration Area)has been built up into a shale gas industry demonstration base characterized with scale,technology,management and green after more than 10 years of exploration and practice.Its successful experience is of great guiding significance to the efficient development of unconventional oil and gas resources in China.In this paper,the technologies which were developed for the beneficial development of the Demonstration Area during the 13th Five-Year Plan are systematically reviewed and summarized.Then,some countermeasures are proposed to solve the difficulties and challenges to the long-term benefit and stable production of middle-deep shale gas in this area.And the following research results are obtained.First,during the construction of the Demonstration Area,the“three-control”shale gas enrichment and high-production theory is innovatively proposed,and the shale gas enrichment model in the southern Sichuan Basin is clarified.Second,a high-production well cultivation method based on geology-engineering integration is established by developing six main technologies for shale gas exploration and development,which effectively supports the large-scale beneficial development of shale gas in the Demonstration Area.Third,the beneficial development model of middle-deep shale gas in the southern Sichuan Basin is preliminarily formed,and the benefit and efficiency of productivity construction are improved comprehensively.Fourth,the three measures of“controlling the decline rate,enhancing the reserve production and expanding the periphery”are used to support the replacement and stable production of middle-deep shale gas.In conclusion,to sustainably ensure the long-term benefit and stable production of shale gas in the southern Sichuan Basin,it is still necessary to deepen fine reservoir description and complex mechanism understanding and explore EOR technologies.What’s more,the important mean to improve the single-well shale gas production rate in this area is to strengthen the fine fracturing design and implementation under the deep integration of geology and engineering and improve the construction quality of fracturing network continuously.Furthermore,the only way to the low-cost development of the demonstration area is to promote the management reform and innovation continuously and improve the beneficial development model further. 展开更多

This study reviews the development history of PetroChina’s overseas oil and gas field development technologies, summarizes the characteristic technologies developed, and puts forward the development goals and technological development directions of overseas business to overcome the challenges met in overseas oil and gas production. In the course of PetroChina’s overseas oil and gas field production practice of more than 20 years, a series of characteristic technologies suitable for overseas oil and gas fields have been created by combining the domestic mature oil and gas field production technologies with the features of overseas oil and gas reservoirs, represented by the technology for high-speed development and stabilizing oil production and controlling water rise for overseas sandstone oilfields, high efficiency development technology for large carbonate oil and gas reservoirs and foamy oil depletion development technology in use of horizontal wells for extra-heavy oil reservoirs. Based on in-depth analysis of the challenges faced by overseas oil and gas development and technological requirements, combined with the development trends of oil and gas development technologies in China and abroad, overseas oil and gas development technologies in the future are put forward, including artificial intelligence reservoir prediction and 3 D geological modeling, secondary development and enhanced oil recovery(EOR) of overseas sandstone oilfields after high speed development, water and gas injection to improve oil recovery in overseas carbonate oil and gas reservoirs, economic and effective development of overseas unconventional oil and gas reservoirs, efficient development of marine deep-water oil and gas reservoirs. The following goals are expected to be achieved: keep the enhanced oil recovery(EOR) technology for high water-cut sandstone oilfield at international advanced level, and make the development technology for carbonate oil and gas reservoirs reach the international advanced level, and the development technologies for unconventional and marine deep-water oil and gas reservoirs catch up the level of international leading oil companies quickly. 展开更多

China's shale gas production in 2020 exceeds 200×10^(8) m^(3),which creates a miracle in the history of natural gas development in China.The Sichuan Basin has already been and will be the main battlefield of shale gas exploration and development in China.In order to further promote the large-scale efficient development of shale gas in China,under the new situation of global COVID-19 spread and domestic“carbon peak and carbon neutrality”goal,this paper analyzes the progress and challenges of shale gas exploration and development in the Sichuan Basin from four aspects,including resource exploration,gas reservoir engineering,drilling and production engineering and industry regulation,and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for achieving large-scale efficient development of shale gas.The following research results are obtained:First,the large-scale efficient development of shale gas in the Sichuan Basin has to take the sustainable and stable production of middle-shallow shale gas and the large-scale productivity construction of deep shale gas as the base.Second,compared with the shale gas exploration and development in the North America,the Sichuan Basin has its own characteristics in terms of geographical setting,geological condition,drilling and production technology and industry regulation,which makes it difficult to copy the development pattern of large scale,high density and continuous well deployment from the North America,so it is necessary to adopt the strategy of“high production with few wells”.On the one hand,continue to apply the geology and engineering integration technology to carry out“integrated research,integrated design,integrated implementation and integrated iteration”in the whole life cycle of shale gas well;and on the other hand,carry out problem-oriented continuous researches from the aspects of geological evaluation,development policy,engineering technology and industry regulation,so as to improve geological evaluation theory and technology,innovate gas reservoir engineering theory and method,research and develop engineering technology for cost reduction and efficiency improvement,improve shale gas industry regulation,and form a new pattern of collaborative promotion of technical and non-technical elements.In conclusion,the research results provide important reference and guidance for the large-scale efficient development of shale gas in the Sichuan Basin and even the whole country. 展开更多

The shale oil and gas exploitation in China is technically benchmarked with the United States in terms of development philosophy,reservoir stimulation treatment,fracturing parameters,fracturing equipment and materials,oil/gas production technology,and data/achievements sharing.It is recognized that the shale oil and gas exploitation in China is weak in seven aspects:understanding of flow regimes,producing of oil/gas reserves,monitoring of complex fractures,repeated stimulation technology,oil/gas production technology,casing deformation prevention technology,and wellbore maintenance technology.Combined with the geological and engineering factors of shale oil and gas in China,the development suggestions of four projects are proposed from the macro-and micro-perspective,namely,basic innovation project,exploitation technology project,oil/gas production stabilization project,and supporting efficiency-improvement project,so as to promote the rapid,efficient,stable,green and extensive development of shale oil and gas industry chain and innovation chain and ultimately achieve the goal of“oil volume stabilizing and gas volume increasing”. 展开更多

Shale oil development techniques and application based on ternary-element storage and flow concept in Jiyang Depression,Bohai Bay Basin,East China

The ternary-element storage and flow concept for shale oil reservoirs in Jiyang Depression of Bohai Bay Basin,East China,was proposed based on the data of more than 10000 m cores and the production of more than 60 horizontal wells.The synergy of three elements(storage,fracture and pressure)contributes to the enrichment and high production of shale oil in Jiyang Depression.The storage element controls the enrichment of shale oil;specifically,the presence of inorganic pores and fractures,as well as laminae of lime-mud rocks,in the saline lake basin,is conducive to the storage of shale oil,and the high hydrocarbon generating capacity and free hydrocarbon content are the material basis for high production.The fracture element controls the shale oil flow;specifically,natural fractures act as flow channels for shale oil to migrate and accumulate,and induced fractures communicate natural fractures to form complex fracture network,which is fundamental to high production.The pressure element controls the high and stable production of shale oil;specifically,the high formation pressure provides the drive force for the migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons,and fracturing stimulation significantly increases the elastic energy of rock and fluid,improves the imbibition replacement of oil in the pores/fractures,and reduces the stress sensitivity,guaranteeing the stable production of shale oil for a long time.Based on the ternary-element storage and flow concept,a 3D development technology was formed,with the core techniques of 3D well pattern optimization,3D balanced fracturing,and full-cycle optimization of adjustment and control.This technology effectively guides the production and provides a support to the large-scale beneficial development of shale oil in Jiyang Depression. 展开更多
