Effects of a Full-Solid Waste-Based Soil Stabilizer:Strength,Durability and Microstructure

This study investigates the use of a low-carbon soil stabilizer called SDG,which is made up of granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS),desulfurization gypsum (DG),and calcium carbide slag (CCS),to solidify the soil.The impact of SDG components on the strength and durability of solidified soil was analysed through a series of tests,including unconfined compressive strength,water stability coefficient,water absorption rate,drying-wetting cycles,and shrinkage tests.Furthermore,microstructure characteristics were analysed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The study shows that the solidified soil has excellent strength and durability when the SDG stabilizer contains 60% GGBGS,10% DG,and 30% CCS.Additionally,increasing the DG content negatively affects the soil's resistance to water.The SDG stabilizer has potential chemical cementitious characteristics and the calcium carbide slag is rich in calcium ions,which undergo an ion exchange reaction with minerals in the soil.These findings offer new ideas for the development of soil stabilizers. 展开更多

Effects of Adjusting Backpack Shoulder Stabilizers on Psychological Responses and Autonomic Nerve Activity in Hiking

Purpose: There have been many studies on the effects of different types of backpacks on posture from a biomechanical perspective and on the center of gravity. Considering the effects of autonomic nervous system activity and mood associated with backpacks in mountaineering and hiking, research is also needed from a psychological perspective. In this study, the effects of adjusting the backpack shoulder stabilizer were preliminarily tested in terms of subjective fatigue and changes in autonomic nervous activity after hiking. Methods: The experimental 15 healthy participants hiked the mountain under two conditions: 1) without adjusting the stabilizer, a feature of the backpack (NAH condition), and 2) with the stabilizer adjusted (AH condition). First, all participants hiked the mountain in the NAH condition, and after a 30-minute break, they began the hike in the AH condition after confirming that a) their heart rate had recovered and b) they were in good physical condition. Results: HR was significantly lower after each hiking session than during the session. RMSSD was significantly lower pre-AH and post-AH than the NAH condition, but there was no significant difference between the NAH condition and either post-NAH or post-AH. Additionally, RMSSD was significantly lower in the AH condition than pre-AH or post-AH. The shoulders and back were significantly more burdened in the NAH condition than in the AH condition. The pleasure level was significantly higher in the AH condition than in the NAH condition. Conclusion: The results showed that also adjusting the position of the waist belt when adjusting the shoulder stabilizer, which is mainly used for the neck and shoulders, has a significant positive effect on the subjective burden on the upper body and parasympathetic nervous system activity after hiking. 展开更多

Mesoporous SiO_(2)nanoparticles with low surface energy and multi-level roughness as shale wellbore stabilizers in oil-based drilling fluid

Oil-based drilling fluids possess excellent properties such as shale inhibition, cuttings suspension, and superior lubrication, making them essential in the development of unconventional oil and gas reservoirs.However, wellbore instability, caused by the invasion of drilling fluids into shale formations, remains a significant challenge for the safe and efficient extraction of shale oil and gas. This work reports the preparation of mesoporous SiO2nanoparticles with low surface energy, utilized as multifunctional agents to enhance the performance of oil-based drilling fluids aimed at improving wellbore stability. The results indicate that the coating prepared from these nanoparticles exhibit excellent hydrophobicity and antifouling properties, increasing the water contact angle from 32°to 146°and oil contact angle from 24°to134.8°. Additionally, these nanoparticles exhibit exceptional chemical stability and thermal resistance.Incorporating these nanoparticles into oil-based drilling fluids reduced the surface energy of the mud cake from 34.99 to 8.17 m J·m-2and increased the roughness of shale from 0.26 to 2.39 μm. These modifications rendered the mud cake and shale surfaces amphiphobic, effectively mitigating capillary infiltration and delaying the long-term strength degradation of shale in oil-based drilling fluids. After 28days of immersion in oil-based drilling fluid, shale cores treated with MF-SiO2exhibited a 30.5% increase in compressive strength compared to untreated cores. Additionally, these nanoparticles demonstrated the ability to penetrate and seal rock pores, reducing the API filtration volume of the drilling fluid from11.2 to 7.6 m L. This study introduces a novel approach to enhance the development of shale gas and oil resources, offering a promising strategy for wellbore stabilization in oil-based drilling fluid systems. 展开更多

Efficient placement technology of proppants based on structural stabilizers

Fiber is highly escapable in conventional slickwater,making it difficult to form fiber-proppant agglomerate with proppant and exhibit limited effectiveness.To solve these problems,a novel structure stabilizer(SS)is developed.Through microscopic structural observations and performance evaluations in indoor experiments,the mechanism of proppant placement under the action of the SS and the effects of the SS on proppant placement dimensions and fracture conductivity were elucidated.The SS facilitates the formation of robust fiber-proppant agglomerates by polymer,fiber,and quartz sand.Compared to bare proppants,these agglomerates exhibit reduced density,increased volume,and enlarged contact area with the fluid during settlement,leading to heightened buoyancy and drag forces,ultimately resulting in slower settling velocities and enhanced transportability into deeper regions of the fracture.Co-injecting the fiber and the SS alongside the proppant into the reservoir effectively reduces the fiber escape rate,increases the proppant volume in the slickwater,and boosts the proppant placement height,conveyance distance and fracture conductivity,while also decreasing the proppant backflow.Experimental results indicate an optimal SS mass fraction of 0.3%.The application of this SS in over 80 wells targeting tight gas,shale oil,and shale gas reservoirs has substantiated its strong adaptability and general suitability for meeting the production enhancement,cost reduction,and sand control requirements of such wells. 展开更多

Study on Compound Stabilizer Formulation for Mango Juice with Skin

[Objectives]The effects of stabilizers such as sodium carboxymethyl cellulose,pectin,sodium alginate and xanthan gum on the stability of mango juice with skin were discussed using mango as the raw material.[Methods]The formula and stability of mango beverage with skin were studied using mango juice with skin as the raw material.Four stabilizers,including pectin,sodium alginate and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose,were added to improve the stability of the juice.Based on single factor experiments and a response surface experiment,the stability model of mango juice was established to determine the best compound stabilizer.[Results]According to an orthogonal experiment on the stability of mango juice with skin,the optimum technical parameters were as follows:sodium carboxymethyl cellulose 0.20%,xanthan gum 0.08%,sodium alginate 0.18%,and pectin 0.14%,with which the optimal suspension stability was 69.12%.The optimum technical parameters from the response surface experiment were as follows:sodium carboxymethyl cellulose 0.199%,pectin 0.1185%,sodium alginate 0.163%,and xanthan gum 0.077%,with which the suspension stability was 70.32%.It was found that the stability of mango juice with skin obtained by the response surface experiment was better than that by the orthogonal experiment,and the order of factors affecting the stability of mango was sodium alginate(C)>sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(A)>pectin(D)>xanthan gum(B).[Conclusions]The formula of compound stabilizer for mango juice was optimized by the orthogonal experiment and the response surface method,providing a theoretical basis for the actual production of mango juice with skin. 展开更多

The results showed that Lalan3/Calan2/Znlan2 stabilizers exhibited more excellent thermal stabilization efficiency to PVC than Calan2/Znlan2 thermal stabilizers,and the optimal mass ratio of Lalan3/Calan2/Znlan2 was 8:9:3. In this article, a series of effective stabilizers with optimal molecular weight (MW), including common, monomeric and polymeric stabilizers (antioxidant and light stabilizer) were synthesized using isocyanation, controlled isocyanation, hydrosilylation, epoxide addition, macroreaction of stabilizing functional compounds and polymerization of monomeric stabilizers. The structure and performance of these new stabilizers were characterized by using IR, NMR, MS, UV-spectra, XPS and elemental analysis. A novel technique for the optimal tuning of power system stabilizer (PSS) was proposed,by integrating the modified particle swarm optimization (MPSO) with the chaos (MPSOC).Firstly,a modification in the particle swarm optimization (PSO) was made by introducing passive congregation (PC).It helps each swarm member in receiving a multitude of information from other members and thus decreases the possibility of a failed attempt at detection or a meaningless search.Secondly,the MPSO and chaos were hybridized (MPSOC) to improve the global searching capability and prevent the premature convergence due to local minima.The robustness of the proposed PSS tuning technique was verified on a multi-machine power system under different operating conditions.The performance of the proposed MPSOC was compared to the MPSO,PSO and GA through eigenvalue analysis,nonlinear time-domain simulation and statistical tests.Eigenvalue analysis shows acceptable damping of the low-frequency modes and time domain simulations also show that the oscillations of synchronous machines can be rapidly damped for power systems with the proposed PSSs.The results show that the presented algorithm has a faster convergence rate with higher degree of accuracy than the GA,PSO and MPSO. 展开更多

The change in the thickness of water films of special clay particles such as sliding clay, red clay, and expansive clay is an important factor in producing geological disasters and geological environmental damage. In order to reduce the thickness of water films, ionic soil stabilizer (ISS) is used to treat sliding clay, red clay, and expansive clay. Direct shear test of sliding clay and shrinkage, free swell rate, zeta potential, and cation-exchange capacity of red clay and expansive clay are carried out. The results show that as the plastic indexes of special clay soil decrease, the shear strength of sliding clay increases, the shrinkage and free swell rate of red clay and expansive clay decrease, and the thickness of the water film thins after treatment with the ionic soil stabilizer. Therefore, the geological engineering disasters caused by changes in the thickness of water films of special clay can be effectively inhibited. 展开更多

In order to form compact stabilized soil structure, cementitious hydrates were needed to wrap and bind the soil aggregates. Meanwhile, expansible hydrates were needed to squeeze and fill the pores, especially the pores in the aggregates. The experimental results show that the influences of various chemical characteristic factors of soil on the strength of the stabilized soil are boiled down, for the influence on the concentration of Ca(OH)2 in the pore solution of the stabilized soil, and the amount of CSH generated by cement. Finally an optimization design method is proposed, with which the stabilizer can be designed according to characteristics of soil samples. 展开更多

The objective of this work is to construct a nanosuspension drug delivery system of probucol,a BCS II drug,in order to improve its dissolution and oral bioavailability.The wet milling procedure using planetary beads-milling equipment was utilized to grind the raw probucol to ultrafine nanoparticle/nanocrystal aqueous suspension that was further solidified by freeze-drying process.Cellulose derivatives of different substitution groups and molecular weights,including HPMC,HPC,and MC,were evaluated as the primary stabilizer of probucol nanosuspension.Ternary stabilizers system composed of a primary stabilizer(cellulose derivative,i.e.HPC),a nonionic surfactant(Pluronic R F68),and an anionic surfactant(SDS)was employed to obtain probucol nanosuspension of finer particle size and enhanced dissolution in aqueous media.The probucol nanosuspension with good physical stability showed no obvious change of particle size even after storing over 7 d at 4°C or 25°C.The solidified probucol nanosuspension with trehalose as the cryoprotectant showed the highest dissolution rate(>60%at 2 h)compared to other cryoprotectant.The in vivo pharmacokinetic evaluation indicated about 15-folds higher AUC value of the probucol nanosuspension compared to that of coarse probucol suspension after oral administration to rats.The probucol nanosuspension prepared by wet-milling and ternary stabilizers system may find wide applications for improving the dissolution and oral absorption of water-insoluble drugs. 展开更多

The vibration characteristics of composite vertical stabilizer skin structures play a critical role in damping effects designed for overcoming the air disturbances experienced by aircraft structural components during flight.The first-order fundamental frequencies and their corresponding damping characteristics of the vertical stabilizer skin structure tow-steered by automatic fiber placement technique were optimized with the parameterized trajectories and plies as design variables.Firstly,the vibration and damping numerical models were derived based on Kirchhoff laminate theory,the Rayleigh-Ritz method,and the Strain Energy Method.Then the optimization model was developed by adopting the self-adaptive Differential Evolution Multi-objective optimization algorithm and incorporating the solution method of Pareto Front.The constraints of this optimization model considered the experimentally obtained minimum turning radius of prepregs tow-steered in automatic fiber placement process obtained from experimental tests.Finally,the comparison of numerical simulation results was conducted for the optimized trajectories and the conventional straight trajectories under various boundary conditions,and the numerical results were partially validated through damping and frequency tests.The results indicate the vibration characteristics of the composite vertical stabilizer skin structure can be enhanced to a large extent by optimizing fiber trajectories,and the enhancement percentage is affected by the boundary conditions of the actual structure. 展开更多

Geophysical inversion under different stabilizers has different descriptions of the target body boundary,especially in complex geological structures.In this paper,we present an extremum boundary inversion algorithm based on different stabilizers for electrical interface recognition.Firstly,we use the smoothest and minimum-support stabilizing functional to study the applicability of adaptive regularization inversion algorithm.Then,an electrical interface recognition method based on different stabilizers is developed by introducing extremum boundary inversion algorithm.The testing shows that the adaptive regularization inversion method does work for different stabilizers and has a low dependence on the initial models.The ratio of the smooth and focusing upper and lower boundaries obtained using the extremum boundary inversion algorithm can clearly demarcate electrical interfaces.We apply the inversion algorithm to the magnetotelluric(MT)data collected from a preselected area of a high-level-waste clay-rock repository site in the Tamusu area.We recognized regional structures with smooth inversion and the local details with focusing inversion and determined the thickness of the target layer combined with the geological and drilling information,which meets the requirement for the site of the high-level waste clay-rock repository. 展开更多

The ZrO2-Al2O3 ceramic composites were prepared by appropriate techniques with commercial ZrO2 and Al2O3 powders as raw materials and Y2O3 as stabilizer. The results indicate that with the introduction of Al2O3 into the ZrO2 matrix where the quantity of additive Y2O3 is 3.5% (mole fraction), the growth of ZrO2 grains is efficiently inhibited, which helps the ZrO2 grains exist in a metastable tetragonal manner; thus higher strength and toughness are acquired. When the content of alumina is 20% (mass fraction), the bending strength and fracture toughness of the composites are 676.7 MPa and 10 MPa·m1/2 respectively, the mechanical behaviors are close to those prepared with ZrO2 and Al2O3 powders synthesized through wet chemical approach. The mechanical behaviors of the composites are well improved owing to the dispersion toughening of alumina grains and phase transformation toughening of zirconia grains. 展开更多

The Nussbaum gain is used to avoid the positive sign constraint and the problem of controllability of the system. Knowing methane desorption characteristics is essential to define the contribution of adsorbed gas to gas well production.To evaluate the synthetic effect of a clay stabilizer solution on methane desorption kinetics and isotherms pertaining to Longmaxi shale,an experimental setup was designed based on the volumetric method.The objective was to conduct experiments on methane adsorption and desorption kinetics and isotherms before and after clay stabilizer treatments.The experimental data were a good fit for both the intraparticle diffusion model and the Freundlich isotherm model.We analyzed the effect of the clay stabilizer on desorption kinetics and isotherms.Results show that clay stabilizer can obviously improve the diffusion rate constant and reduce the methane adsorption amount.Moreover,we analyzed the desorption efficiency before and after treatment as well as the adsorbed methane content.The results show that a higher desorption efficiency after treatment can be observed when the pressure is higher than 6.84 MPa.Meanwhile,the adsorbed methane content before and after treatment all increase when the pressure decreases,and clay stabilizer can obviously promote the adsorbed methane to free gas when the pressure is lower than 19 MPa.This can also be applied to the optimization formulation of slickwater and the design of gas well production. 展开更多
