The study shows that the sites have many problems such as discordance of land use, severity of spatial segregation, low rate of site utilization. To solve these problems, development approaches of site space resources within 1,000 m around the site area are further explored. The approaches include four aspects: characteristics of land use, functional composite, walking guide and shuttle transportation. Utilization of urban underground space has become a vital approach to alleviate the strain on urban land resources,and to optimize the structure and pattem of the city.It is also very important to improve the city env...Utilization of urban underground space has become a vital approach to alleviate the strain on urban land resources,and to optimize the structure and pattem of the city.It is also very important to improve the city environment,build livable city and increase the capacity of the city.Based on the analysis of existing evaluation methods and their problems,a method for evaluating underground space resources based on a negative list of adverse factors affecting underground space development is proposed,to be primarily used in urban planning stages.A list of the adverse factors is established,including limiting factors,constraining factors and influencing factors.Taking Xi'an as an example,using a geographical information system platform,a negative list of adverse factors for the underground space resources in Xi'an City are evaluated,and preventive measures are proposed.Natural resources,exploitable resources,and the potential growth of exploitable underground space resources are evaluated.Underground space assessment in the different development stages of the city,collaborative utilization and safety evaluation for multiple subsurface resources,environmental impact and assessment,as well as evaluation methods based on big data and intelligent optimization algorithms are all discussed with the aim of serving city planning and construction.展开更多
Ownership is an increasingly important conflict in outer space at this moment in time.Despite the principle in the Outer Space Treaty(1967),that emphasizes the importance of all states'free access to outer space b...Ownership is an increasingly important conflict in outer space at this moment in time.Despite the principle in the Outer Space Treaty(1967),that emphasizes the importance of all states'free access to outer space based on equality for exploration and use.Moreover,outer space including the Moon and other celestial bodies is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty,by means of use or occupation,or by any other means.However,outer space activity is not free from sovereignty and jurisdiction after all.Anyway,the legal situation relating to space resource exploitation and utilization activities under the adoption of United Nations is a challenge.Some scholars implied that the Outer Space Treaty(1967)clearly prohibits appropriation of whole celestial bodies but is far less clear concerning the rights of over-extracted resources.Nevertheless,the Moon Agreement(1979)promotes the idea of property ownership of over-extracted resources.It permits states to collect and remove samples of lunar minerals and other substances for further interest in scientific investigation.The application of the Moon Agreement(1979)is not only to the Moon itself but to other celestial bodies,thus potentially covering the planets and asteroids where the mining potential is considered to be limitless.Under this circumstance,numerous countries,such as the United States,Luxembourg,The United Arab Emirates,and Japan have enacted legal regimes that glorify the rights of their entities in mineral resources in outer space.However,these regimes could be disputed under the international legal framework if countries have merely interpreted and applied their rights and obligations on a national level as they understand them.Therefore,this paper purports to clarify the ownership rights in outer space and analyze the purpose of the legal situation relating to space resource exploitation and utilization activities under the adoption of the United States,Luxembourg,The United Arab Emirates,and Japan.展开更多
Exploitation and utilization of urban underground space resources is gaining increasing attention in cities’sustainable development.Due to the attributes of fragility and irreversibility,urban underground space resou...Exploitation and utilization of urban underground space resources is gaining increasing attention in cities’sustainable development.Due to the attributes of fragility and irreversibility,urban underground space resources can be extremely vulnerable to damage and it is often difficult in restoring their original state once damaged.Therefore,scientific and reasonable evaluation of urban underground space resources is of vital importance in urban planning and development.This paper first describes the content and methods for the evaluation of urban underground space resources,and introduces the digitalization technologies to handle the problems of strong subjectivity,low efficiency and rough precision encountered when using traditional evaluation tools.Then,the related concepts and main technologies for digitalization were demonstrated and an intelligent GIS-based engineering geology system was built.Based on the drilling information in Changzhou City,stratum standardization and 3D modeling of strata,underground structures and pipelines were conducted in the built intelligent system.Finally,with the help of spatial overlay analysis in the GIS-based platform and a combination of other digitalization technologies,the urban underground space resources of Changzhou City were evaluated.Maps of geological suitability were produced,which provide scientific guidance and reference for the exploitation and planning of urban underground space resources in Changzhou City.In addition,site selection for key projects was conducted based on the evaluation results using this platform.展开更多

Underground space resources are important for the purposes of urban sustainable development and are a significant means by which to realize three-dimensional urban development.A reasonable and scientific evaluation of...Underground space resources are important for the purposes of urban sustainable development and are a significant means by which to realize three-dimensional urban development.A reasonable and scientific evaluation of underground space resources is the foundation for the rational use of land resources and urban planning.On the basis of the geological conditions used by preceding researchers,this study adds the analysis of two influencing factors of social and economic value,alongside existing facilities and protection needs.The evaluation index is quantified and the comprehensive quality evaluation system of underground space resources is constructed.Finally,taking the Nanshan District of Shenzhen as an example,the evaluation of underground space resources is carried out.The results show that for shallow underground space,the comprehensive quality of underground space resources development in Nanshan District is generally high.Nantou,Nanshan and Yuehai streets are recommended as areas to actively develop underground space,whereas the Qianhai and Houhai areas are recommended to be used with caution in the development and construction of their underground space.In addition,this study also provides a reference for the purposes of underground space planning in the Nanshan district of Shenzhen.展开更多
