Deep Space Optical Network(DSON) is expected to become an important foundation and inevitable development trend of future deepspace communication. In this paper, we design a deep space node model which is capable of combining the space division multiplexing with frequency division multiplexing. Furthermore, we propose the directional flooding routing algorithm(DFRA) for DSON based on our node model. This scheme selectively forwards the data packets in the routing, so that the energy consumption can be reduced effectively because only a portion of nodes will participate the flooding routing. Simulation results show that, compared with traditional flooding routing algorithm(TFRA), the DFRA can avoid the non-directional and blind transmission. Therefore, the energy consumption in message routing will be reduced and the lifespan of DSON can also be prolonged effectively. Although the complexity of routing implementation is slightly increased compared with TFRA, the energy of nodes can be saved and the transmission rate is obviously improved in DFRA. Thus the overall performance of DSON can be significantly improved.展开更多

The FSO channel is greatly affected by weather conditions such as fog, rain, and snow. In the literature, several adaptive techniques, such as power control (PC), have been suggested to mitigate channel link degradations. In this paper, we investigate the effects of snow and rain attenuation on the bit error rate (BER) of the FSO system using two types of modulations, the on-off keying (OOK) modulation and the pulse-position modulation (16-PPM). The effect of PC on the performance of FSO communications is also examined in this study. We evaluated the system’s performance with two types of snow, wet snow and dry snow, as well as with different rain regions. Results show that PC improves the BER of the FSO system;a high rate of improvement is found for wet snow and rain. PC has almost no effect with dry snow because of the high attenuation and the limitations on transmitted power. The BER for 16-PPM is better than that for OOK modulation.展开更多

The analytical bit error rate(BER) of the proposed system in Gamma-Gamma turbulence channels is derived and verified using computer simulation. The results show that both multi-hop and hybrid modulation schemes are efficient techniques to improve the performance of FSO links. Compared with the traditional binary phase shift keying(BPSK) and MPPM, the hybrid scheme can improve the bandwidth-utilization efficiency and reliability of the system. Compared with the coherent demodulation of PDM-QPSK-MPPM, the system complexity is reduced at the cost of the degradation of BER performance, which can improve the practicality of hybrid modulation technology in FSO system.展开更多

With the now present 5G and future 6G, the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), social networks, video on demand, and mobile multimedia platforms, the backbone network is bound to bear more traffic. The transmission capacity of Single Core Fiber (SCFs) may be limited in the future and Spatial Division Multiplexing (SDM) leveraging multi-core fibers promises to be one of the solutions for the future. Currently, Elastic optical networks (EONs) with multi-core fibers (MCFs) are a kind of SDM-enabled EONs (SDM-EON) used to enhance the capacity of transmission. The resource assignment in MCFs, however, will be subject to Inter-Core Crosstalk (IC-XT), hence, reducing the effectiveness of transmission. This research highlights the routing, modulation level, and spectrum assignment (RMLSA) problems with anycast traffic mode in SDM-EON. A multipath routing scheme is used to reduce the blocking rate of anycast traffic in SDM-EON with the limit of inter-core crosstalk. Hence, an integer linear programming (ILP) problem is formulated and a heuristic algorithm is proposed. Two core-assignment strategies: First-Fit (FF) and Random-Fit (RF) are used and their performance is evaluated through simulations. The simulation results show that the multipath routing method is better than the single-path routing method in terms of blocking ratio and spectrum utilization ratio. Moreover, the FF is better than the RF in low traffic load in terms of blocking ratio (BR), and the opposite in high traffic load. The FF is better than the RF in terms of a spectrum utilization ratio. In an anycast protection problem, the proposed algorithm has a lower BR than previous works.展开更多

文摘A hybrid polarization division multiplexed-differential phase shift keying-multipulse pulse position modulation(PDM-DPSK-MPPM) scheme for multi-hop free-space optical(FSO) communication is investigated. Compared with the coherent demodulation of PDM-QPSK-MPPM, the system complexity is reduced at the cost of the degradation of BER performance, which can improve the practicality of hybrid modulation technology in FSO system.
文摘With the rise of cloud computing in recent years, a large number of streaming media has yielded an exponential growth in network traffic. In an anycast protection problem, the proposed algorithm has a lower BR than previous works.
