Subsoiling is widely used to improve soil productivity in the North China Plain(NCP).However, its effects on pore network-based hydraulic properties and their relationship with water use efficiency(WUE)are far from clear. In this study,we evaluated the effects of three tillage systems(rotary tillage at 15 cm depth,RT15;subsoiling at 40 cm depth,SS40;and subsoiling at 35 cm depth,SS35)on soil pore structure, hydraulic properties, and WUE during the 2022-2024 winter wheat seasons. Results showed that the effects of SS40 and SS35 were similar in optimizing the soil pore structure and hydraulic properties.Compared with RT15,SS40 and SS35 increased the soil macroporosity ratio, the soil pore connectivity, and the soil water storage.Structural equation modeling revealed that optimized soil pore structure under subsoiling directly and positively influenced the WUE or indirectly increasing the soil water storage. As a result, compared with RT15,SS40 and SS35 increased the spike number, kernel number per spike, and 1000-grain weight, and ultimately improved the yield(35.59% and 39.32%,respectively)and WUE(36.69% and 41.55%,respectively).Overall,the results revealed the mechanism of high-efficiency water use from the perspective of pore network-based hydraulic properties, providing a theoretical basis for food security. 展开更多

The Gulf Cooperation Countries have the advantages of fundamental characteristics and abundant natural resources due to the high proportion of solar radiation, which helps to expand the transition to renewable energy, especially in solar projects. The Kuwait location was chosen for this research because of its high dust levels and average daily sunshine of 9.4 hours. The soiling map of Kuwait was then created using PVsyst software. A theoretical and mathematical model for 100 MW was developed based on many environmental and technical parameters. The model was run with Kuwait parameters and 100 MW solar PV power plant capacity. The results show that more than 25% of total generated electricity could be lost annually without any mitigation strategy. Furthermore, the efficiency loss could increase by around 50% during the seasons with sandstorms and high soiling rates. Additionally, manual and automatic cleaning methods were found to increase energy production from 112,092 MWh to 207,300 MWh. Moreover, manual cleaning reduced energy costs by 4.9%, but automated cleaning resulted in a 17.34% higher energy-saving cost than a system without cleaning. In addition, when using the automatic cleaning system, the system’s payback period was reduced from 9.22 to 7.86 years. Therefore, an automated cleaning system is recommended for use in Kuwait. 展开更多

Compact!on layers are widely distributed in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain,China, which restrict root growth and reduce yields. The adoption of subsoiling has been recommended to disrupt compacted soil layers and create a reasonable soil structure for crop development. In this paper, the effects of subsoiling depth(30,35 and 40 cm),period interval(2 or 3 years)and combined pre-sowing tillage practice(rotary cultivation or ploughing)on soil condition improvement was studied on a tidal soil in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain.Seve n tillage patter ns were desig ned by combini ng differe nt subsoili ng depths, period intervals and pre-sowing.The evaluation indicators for soil condition improvement were as follows:thickness of the plough layer and hard pan, soil bulk density, cone index, soil three-phase R values, alkali nitrogen content, crop yield, and economic ben efits. The results showed that subsoiling can sign ificantly improve the soil structure and physical properties. In all subsoiling treatments, the depth of 35 or 40 cm at a 2-year interval was the most significant. The thickness of the plough layer in creased from 13.67 cm before the test to 21.54-23.45 cm in 2018.The thick ness of the hard pan decreased from 17.68 cm before the test to 12.09-12.76 cm in 2018,a decrease of about 40.07%.However,the subsoiling combined presowing tillage practice, that is,rotary cultivation or ploughing, was not significant for soil structure and physical properties. For all subsoiling treatments, the soil bulk density, cone index and soil three-phase R values of the 15-25 cm soil layer were significantly lower compared to single rotary cultivation.Subsoiling was observed to increase the soil alkaline nitrogen and water conte nts.The tillage patter ns that had subsoiling at the depth of 35-40 cm at a 2-year in terval combi ned with rotary cultivation had the highest alkali nitrogen and water contents, which increased by 31.08-34.23%compared with that of the single rotary cultivati on.Subsoiling can sign ifica ntly in crease the yield both of wheat and corn,as well as the economic ben efits. The treatment of subsoili ng at the depth of 35 cm at an interval of 2 years com bined with rotary cultivation had the highest ann ual yield and economic benefits. For this treatme nt,the arinual yield and economic ben efits in creased by 14.55 and 62.87%in 2018,respectively.In con clusi on,the tillage patter ns that involved subsoili ng at a depth of 35 cm at a 2-year interval along with rotary cultivation are suitable for the Huang?Huai-Hai Plain. 展开更多

Solar photovoltaic(PV)power represents one of the most promising future sources of energy in the world.Considered the cleanest form of energy, extensive research is being undertaken to widen its use.Notably, mega projects are being considered for installation in the Middle East and North Africa(MENA)region because of its high solar potential, with hopes of eventually feeding Europe from the PV electricity generated in this region and transported through high voltage direct current(DC)lines. However, current implementation of PV systems has shown that their reliability and efficiency depend upon surrounding environmental factors, such as the ambient temperature, wind, and rainfall,as well as soiling, pollution, and aging. The aim of this study was to investigate, through experimental tests, the effects of such factors on the power output of a grid connected PV station. The results showed that the output power and efficiency are deeply affected by various environmental factors, which are weather dependent. These findings may help us develop appropriate solutions to overcome these drawbacks. 展开更多

In this paper,a detailed model of a photovoltaic(PV)panel is used to study the accumulation of dust on solar panels. The presence of dust diminishes the incident light intensity penetrating the panel’s cover glass,as it increases the reflection of light by particles. This phenomenon, commonly known as the“soiling effect”,presents a significant challenge to PV systems on a global scale. Two basic models of the equivalent circuits of a solar cell can be found, namely the single-diode model and the two-diode models. The limitation of efficiency data in manufacturers’datasheets has encouraged us to develop an equivalent electrical model that is efficient under dust conditions, integrated with optical transmittance considerations to investigate the soiling effect. The proposed approach is based on the use of experimental current-voltage(I-V)characteristics with simulated data using MATLAB/Simulink.Our research outcomes underscores the feasibility of accurately quantifying the reduction in energy production resulting from soiling by assessing the optical transmittance of accumulated dust on the surface of PV glass. 展开更多

In order to evaluate the effect of subsoiling on the soil physical properties and wheat yield in dry land conditions, this research was conducted in Mamassani area of Fars province in Iran. The experiment was laid down in the form of a complete block experimental design with four treatments and four replications for three years. Treatments included: (1) conventional tillage without using subsoiler which was control treatment (So); (2) using subsoiler with the shank space of 40 cm which was equal to the subsoiling depth (SO; (3) using subsoiler with the shank space of 60 cm which was 1.5 times of the subsoiling depth (S2); and (4) using subsoiler with the shank space of 80 cm which was 2 times of the subsoiling depth (S3). Subsoiling depth was set at 40 cm which was the lower limit of the hard pan depth in the soil. Soil cone index, soil bulk density, soil moisture content, wheat yield, and yield components were measured in this study and SAS software was used to analyze the collected data. Results showed that subsoiling decreased the soil bulk density and cone index, and increased water retention of the soil. Results also revealed that applying subsoiler increased wheat yield and yield components in our dry land conditions. Since subsoiling improved soil physical conditions and increases wheat yield, applying subsoiler in such a dry land conditions is therefore recommended. Results of this study also showed that subsoiling with the shank space of 40 cm and 60 cm had better performance compared to the shank space of 80 cm. On the other hand, shank space of 40 cm reduced the subsoiler effective working width and consequently effective field capacity. Therefore, subsoiler with a shank space of 60 cm is recommended for application in dry land soils of our type. 展开更多

Sustainable agriculture in the Huang–Huai–Hai Plain of China is threatened by subsoil compaction and the decline of winter wheat productivity induced by inappropriate tillage regimes. We investigated the effects of optimizing the tillage regime on grain filling and its relationship with flag leaf senescence post-anthesis in winter wheat. Four treatments were compared: rotary tillage, strip rotary tillage, strip rotary tillage with a 2-year subsoiling interval(STS), and conventional plowing tillage. STS produced higher chlorophyll content and leaf area indexes than other treatments, resulting in a greater photosynthetically active radiation capture ratio. The net photosynthesis rate of flag leaves from 14 to 28 days after anthesis and dry matter accumulation at maturity were higher in STS than in other treatments. Sucrose content and sucrose phosphate synthase activity of flag leaves first increased and then decreased during grain filling and were highest in STS. STS increased superoxide dismutase activity, increased soluble protein content, and reduced malondialdehyde concentrations in flag leaves after the middle grain-filling stages, resulting in reduced premature senescence. This consequence extended the active grain filling period and increased grain weight. The highest yields were observed in STS, reaching10,451 kg ha-1 in 2014–2015 and 10,074 kg ha-1 in 2015–2016, owing to increased spike numbers and 1000-kernel weight. Overall, our study suggested that STS could substantially increase photosynthetic capacity and delay leaf senescence, thus promoting grain filling rate and increasing winter wheat yields. 展开更多

Eucalyptus harvesting, forwarding and soil tillage operations are among the main causes for compaction of forest soils, with potential impacts on productivity. This concern is especially important in areas with soils that are naturally compacted(fragipans and duripans). In these soils, tillage operations include the use of subsoilers that can reach depths of more than one meter and require heavy tractors that exert high pressure on the soil. One of the ways to try to minimize the effect of this compaction is by retaining harvest residues. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impacts of eucalyptus harvesting on soil physical attributes,as well as to determine the potential of different types of residue management to reduce compaction from the soil tillage operation. Two experiments were conducted in the same area with a Yellow Argisol. In the first experiment, compaction caused by mechanized harvesting with harvester+forwarder was evaluated. In the second experiment, different managements of harvest residues were examined as potential modifiers of soil compaction during tillage for new plantings. For this, three managements systems were tested:(1)retention of all harvest residues and litter from the previous rotation(HR+L),(2)retention of litter from the previous rotation(L),and(3)removal of harvest residues and litter from the previous rotation(WR).Before and after harvest, sampling was carried out in the planting rows and inter-rows,and after tillage, samples were collected in the traffic line of the subsoiler-tractor set.In both experiments, undisturbed soil samples were collected from the center of the 0-10,10-20,20-40,40-60,and 60-100 cm layers to determine soil density and total porosity. In each period and site of evaluation, mechanical resistance to penetration up to the 60-cm depth was also determined. The harvesting operation increased soil density at 0-10 and 60-100 cm depths only in the inter-rows.Retention of harvest residues and litter(HR+L)after harvesting avoided increases in soil density and penetration resistance caused by machine traffic during tillage. The results indicate the importance of retaining harvest residues on forest soils for achieving sustainable utilization and for conserving soil quality. 展开更多

To maintain soil quality under long-term saline water irrigation, the influence of manure on soil physical properties was examined.Long-term saline irrigation has been conducted from 2015 to 2024 at the Nanpi Eco-Agricultural Experimental Station of Chinese Academy Sciences in the Low Plain of the North China Plain, comprising four irrigation treatments:irrigation once at the jointing stage for winter wheat with irrigation water containing salt at fresh water,3,4 and 5 g·L^(–1),and maize irrigation at sowing using fresh water.Manure application was conducted under all irrigation treatments, with treatments without manure application used as controls. The results showed that under long-term irrigation with saline water, the application of manure increased the soil organic matter content, exchangeable potassium, available phosphorus, and total nitrogen content in the 0–20 cm soil layer by 46.8%,117.0%,75.7%,and 45.5%,respectively,compared to treatments without manure application. The application of manure reduced soil bulk density. It also increased the proportion of water-stable aggregates and the abundance of bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes in the tillage soil layer compared to the controls.Because of the salt contained in the manure, the application of manure had dual effects on soil salt content.During the winter wheat season, manure application increased soil salt content. The salt content was significantly reduced during the summer maize season, owing to the strong salt-leaching effects under manure application, resulting in a smaller difference in salt content between the manure and non-manure treatments.During the summer rainfall season, improvements in soil structure under manure application increased the soil desalination rate for the 1 m top soil layer. The desalination rate for 0–40 cm and 40–100 cm was averagely by 39.1%and 18.9%higher,respectively,under manure application as compared with that under the nomanure treatments. The yield of winter wheat under manure application was 0.12%lower than that of the control, owing to the higher salt content during the winter wheat season. In contrast, the yield of summer maize improved by 3.9%under manure application, owing to the increased soil nutrient content and effective salt leaching. The results of this study indicated that manure application helped maintain the soil physical structure, which is important for the long-term use of saline water. In practice, using manure with a low salt content is suggested to reduce the adverse effects of saline water irrigation on soil properties and achieve sustainable saline water use. 展开更多

Soil respiration is the key process driving CO_(2) exchange between forest soils and the atmosphere and regulated by soil organic carbon(SOC)characteristics and extracellular enzyme activities. However, the direction and magnitude of the effects of stand density on labile SOC fractions, extracellular enzymes, and soil respiration across plantation ages remain unclear. We constructed enhanced soil respiration models using heterogeneous soil data under density regulation to better characterize soil processes.Study plots encompassing stand-density gradients were implemented in Larix principis-rupprechtii plantations spanning three age-class strata.During the growing season, systematic measurements were conducted on soil respiration rates, labile organic carbon fractions, and extracellular enzyme activities.A process-driven soil respiration model was developed by integrating nonlinear mixed-effects modeling frameworks with measured data. The moderate density stands showed increases in soil respiration(Rs),microbial biomass carbon(MBC),light fraction organic carbon(LFOC),β-1,4-glucosidase(BGC),andβ-N-acetyl glycosaminidase+leucine aminopeptidase(NAG+LAP).In 36a and 48a stands, the moderate-density stands NAG+LAP had a~35%increase compared to other density levels, while readily oxidized carbon(ROC)concentrations showed a significant~30%-50%reduction.All labile organic carbon components were stable with age,so that soil microorganisms were promoted to acquire C,N,and P.Temperature, moisture,MBC,BGC,and NAG+LAP were essential factors that affected soil respiration.Stand density has important impacts on soil respiration as it regulates the soil organic carbon and activities of extracellular enzymes. The roles of temperature, microbial biomass carbon, soil organic carbon and dissolved organic carbon are complex and directly affect autotrophic and heterotrophic respiration and regulate soil respiration by influencing microbial C and N acquisition.A mixed-effects model with nested stand density and age mathematically optimized the soil respiration model, enabling enhanced characterization of covariation patterns of soil respiration with related soil carbon pool variables. 展开更多

Freeze-thaw cycles(FTCs)have an important effect on soil aggregate stability by altering soil structures, thereby influencing soil wind and water erosion on the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. However, the effects of FTCs on the stability of these soils remain unclear. Here,we conducted freeze-thaw simulations in laboratory to investigate the effects of FTCs(0 to 15 cycles)on the wet-and dry-sieving aggregate stability of undisturbed sandy loam from Maqu county, which was treated with different initial soil moisture contents(1%to 25%in increments of 4%)and initial aggregate diameters(<2,2-5,5-10,and 10-15 mm). Results show that soil aggregates with initial diameters larger than 2 mm exhibit higher soil organic carbon contents(1.45%-1.57%)and silt contents(34.63%-35.52%)than those smaller than 2 mm(0.93%and 31.38%,respectively).The stability of both wet-and dry-sieving aggregates increases with larger initial diameters.Increasing initial soil moisture content from 1%to 25%reduces aggregate stability, with reductions of 2.4%-88.0%for wet-sieving aggregates and 2.1%-25.5%for dry-sieving aggregates(>2 mm). With increasing FTCs,wet-sieving aggregate(>2 mm)stability exhibits a fluctuating upward trend, with increases of 79.2%-87.4%after 15 FTCs,while dry-sieving aggregate(>2 mm)stability decreases significantly(5.7%-21.7%)upon the first FTC and remains unchanged thereafter. The stability of both the wet-and dry-sieving aggregates smaller than 2 mm remains unchanged with increasing FTCs(p>0.05).SOC content decreases by 22.3%on average with increasing FTCs from 1 to 15 and shows no significant correlations with wet-and dry-sieving aggregate stability.Higher silt content(r=0.39,p<0.05)and lower sand content(r=-0.38,p<0.05)enhances the wet-sieving aggregate stability of sandy loam.Frequent FTCs tend to improve wet-sieving aggregate stability but reduce dry-sieving aggregate stability in the sandy loam. The findings provide certain guidance for preventing freeze-thaw-induced wind erosion. 展开更多

One of the research hotspots in geotechnical engineering is the solidification of problematic soil foundations. However, the traditional materials, such as Portland cement, lime, and various types of chemical solutions, typically cause CO_(2) emissions and environmental pollution. Geopolymer is a newly proposed method for soil solidification, offering an environmentally friendly and effective solution. Given that soils typically consist of diverse compositions, an optimal soil stabilization technique should be versatile enough to be applied across various soil types, ensuring consistent strength outcomes with minimal variations among different soil compositions. In this study, three commonly used geopolymers(fly ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag, and metakaolin) were utilized to stabilize silt, loess, silica sand, calcareous sand, and gravel, representing a diverse range of soils. The mechanical properties and microstructures of both geopolymers and geopolymerstabilized soils were analyzed. The findings indicated that the strength of stabilized coarse cohesionless soils was primarily influenced by the mechanical properties of the geopolymers themselves, with minimal impact from the inherent properties of the soil. However, the effectiveness of stabilizing cohesive soil may show significant discrepancies compared to the mechanical properties of geopolymer materials when certain types of geopolymers, like metakaolin, are employed. Higher strength is typically achieved through a denser structure(with fewer pores) and the presence of products with a higher degree of polymerization. Additionally, ground granulated blast-furnace slag exhibited excellent stability and superior strength when compared to other types of geopolymers. The present research establishes a basis for selecting geopolymers to stabilize a range of soils, including those with non-uniform compositions and diverse components. 展开更多

Soil cadmium(Cd)contamination poses significant risks to human health and environmental sustainability.Despite advances in bioremediation, effective bioagents with clear mechanistic insights for Cd detoxification are lacking. We first deciphered the whole-genome sequence of a novel Cd-tolerant Trichoderma nigricans T32781 and its in vivo heavy metal tolerance. In five independent pot and field trials,we revealed the T32781-induced alleviation mechanisms of plant-microbe-soil interactions in wheat and barley in response to Cd toxicity using a combination of agronomic, physiological, microbiome and metabolome approaches. We discovered that T32781 inoculation in soil significantly increased grain yield and decreased grain Cd concentration in barley and wheat exposed to different soil Cd levels.T32781 predominantly colonized soils, mitigating Cd toxicity by reducing soil Cd availability and promoting beneficial soil microbial communities and metabolites. These beneficial effects were further validated in the field, where the exogenous application of key metabolites induced by T32781 inoculation in soils and plants significantly increased grain yield and reduced grain Cd concentration in barley. This work highlights the potential of T32781 to enhance plantmicrobe-soil interactions and support sustainable and safe crop production in Cd-contaminated soils, addressing the increasing global demand for cereal production for food and feed. 展开更多

Green manuring is essential for improving soil quality and nutrient uptake. With the gradual depletion of phosphorus(P)resources, more attention is being paid to the role of green manures in cultivation systems, such as maize-green manure intercropping,to find possible pathways for enhancing soil P utilization.A maize-green manure intercropping experiment was started in 2009 to investigate the effects and mechanisms for enhancing P uptake and yield in maize.Three species of green manures(hairy vetch(HV),needle leaf pea(NP),sweet pea(SP))and a sole maize treatment(CK)were used, resulting in four treatments(CK,HVT,NPT,and SPT)in the experiment.During 2020-2023,the intercropping treatments enhanced maize yields in 2020 and 2021,particularly in HVT with increases of 13.7%(1.96 t ha^(-1))and 13.0%(2.13 t ha^(-1))compared with CK,respectively.Grain P accumulation of maize was significantly higher in the intercropping treatments than CK in 2020,2021,and 2023,and with an average increase of 10.6%over the four years(5.2% for NPT,10.8% for SPT and 15.9% for HVT)compared with CK.Intercropping promoted maize growth with a greater root length density and a higher organic acid release rate.HVT changed the soil properties more dramatically than the other treatments, with increases in the acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase activities of 29.8 and 38.5%,respectively,in the topsoil(0-15 cm),while the soil p H was reduced by 0.37 units compared to CK(p H=8.44).Intercropping treatments facilitated the conversion of non-labile P to mod-labile P and stimulated the growth of soil bacteria in the topsoil.Compared with CK,the relative abundance of Gemmatimonadota, known for accumulating polyphosphate, and Actinobacteriota,a prominent source of bioactive compounds, increased significantly in the intercropping treatments, especially in HVT and SPT.A PLS-PM analysis showed that intercropping promoted soil P mobilization and the enrichment of beneficial bacteria by regulating maize root morphology and physiology. Our results highlight that maize-green manure intercropping optimizes root traits, soil properties and bacterial composition, which contribute to greater maize P uptake and yield, providing an effective strategy for sustainable crop production. 展开更多

Panax species are globally recognized for their high medicinal and economic value, yet large-scale cultivation is constrained by high production costs, progressive soil acidification, and persistent soil-borne diseases.Although various soil improvement strategies have been tested,a comprehensive synthesis of their comparative effectiveness has been lacking. Here,we conducted a meta-analysis of 1381 observations from 54 independent studies to evaluate the effects of conventional fertilizers, microbial fertilizers, organic amendments, and inorganic amendments on Panax cultivation. Our results demonstrate that microbial fertilizers, organic amendments, and inorganic amendments significantly increased soil pH,thereby ameliorating soil acidification.Among them, organic amendments significantly enhanced the content of soil organic carbon, available nitrogen, and available phosphorus, alongside a notable increase in microbial diversity(Chao1 and ACE indices, which increased by 9%and 17%,respectively).Moreover,our analysis revealed that while microbial fertilizers, organic amendments, and inorganic amendments(except conventional fertilizers)reduced the disease index of Panax plants, organic amendments demonstrated absolute superiority in promoting plant height, root dry weight, root fresh weight, and root length.By quantitatively integrating multi-source evidence, this study provides novel mechanistic insights and practical recommendations that extend beyond local practices, offering guidance for sustainable ginseng cultivation and broader medicinal plant production systems worldwide. 展开更多

Soil organic carbon(SOC)dynamics significantly influence ecosystem carbon source-sink balance, particularly in agroecosystems. However, uncertainty remains regarding optimal land use types for maximizing farmland carbon storage across different soil types, and identifying effective land management practices for enhanced carbon accumulation is essential for reducing agricultural emissions and strengthening carbon sinks. This study examined SOC variations in eastern Yunnan’s subtropical highlands(2,132 sites),analyzing topsoil(0–20 cm)across five land uses(dryland, irrigated land, forestland, grassland and plantation)of five soil types(red, yellow, yellowbrown, brown, purple). The investigation explored relationships between SOC and edaphic factors(26 elements)to determine SOC influencing factors. The study area demonstrated a mean SOC content of 27.78 g kg^(–1),with distinct spatial heterogeneity characterized by lower values in the southwestern sector and higher concentrations in the northeastern region.Brown soils displayed the highest SOC content(P<0.05),followed by yellow-brown then red, yellow, and purple soils.Irrigation significantly enhanced SOC storage, particularly in brown soils where irrigated land contained 2.2-,2.4-,and 1.6-times higher SOC than forestland, grassland, and dryland, respectively.Similar irrigation benefits occurred in purple, yellow, and yellow-brown soils, indicating moisture limitation as the primary SOC constraint.Notably,SOC exhibited strong positive correlations with nitrogen, sulfur, and selenium.Nitrogen fertilization demonstrated dual benefits:enhancing SOC sequestration and promoting Se enrichment in crops, potentially supporting specialty agriculture.Although land use impacts on SOC varied across soil types(P>0.05),irrigation consistently emerged as the optimal management for carbon sink enhancement. These findings suggest that targeted water management could effectively reduce farmland carbon emissions in moisture-limited subtropical highlands.Strategic nitrogen application offers co-benefits for soil fertility and selenium biofortification, providing practical pathways for climate-smart agriculture in similar ecoregions. 展开更多

The dual-probe heat pulse(DPHP)is a well-established method for estimating soil moisture(θ)using soil thermal conductivity(λ)and volumetric heat capacity(C_(v)).Recently,monitoringθhas been improved by integrating the DPHP method with distributed temperature sensing(DTS)technology. In the DPHP-DTS approach,a single fiber optic(FO)cable with embedded metallic constituents functions as a heating element, while a parallel cable serves to monitor the temperature.Despite ongoing advancements, challenges such as the difficulty in positioning heating and sensing cables and high energy requirements hinder the widespread adoption of the DPHP-DTS method. As alternative heating materials are seldom used, this study evaluated the feasibility of employing a resistive metallic alloy as the heating element in a laboratory DPHP-DTS application.Overall, higher errors were observed when assessing C_(v)andλat higherθvalues(>0.2),but using C_(v)data produced more accurateθestimates(with the root mean square error(RMSE)≤0.06).Based on C_(v)values,a low-power,long-duration heat pulse(8.07 W/m for 300 s)yielded more consistentθestimates(RMSE=0.04)than a high-power,shortduration pulse(15.93 W/m for 180 s,with RMSE=0.06).The findings of this study also indicated that variations in heating uniformity and electrical power fluctuations potentially affected measurement accuracy.Nevertheless, the resistive alloy proved advantageous for DPHP-DTS due to its independent power connection, ability to maintain linear positioning within the soil, and potential for energy savings, all while providing reliableθestimates. 展开更多
