This study looks at how professional interpreters handle linguistic uncertainty in English-Chinese sight translation, with a focus on the strategies they use. By analyzing transcription data alongside instructor evaluations, we found that interpreters relied most on creative interpretation and omission, while strategies like paraphrasing, simplification, transformation, addition, and generalization appeared less often. The results show a clear preference for strategies that keep communication flowing without adding unnecessary cognitive load. These findings support the Processing Economy Hypothesis, which suggests interpreters naturally seek efficient ways to process language while maintaining meaning. The study also highlights practical implications for interpreter training, emphasizing the value of flexible, economy-oriented strategies to help interpreters stay fluent under pressure.展开更多

Recently,Internet of Drones(IoD)has garnered significant attention due to its widespread applications.However,deploying IoD for area coverage poses numerous limitations and challenges.These include interference betwee...Recently,Internet of Drones(IoD)has garnered significant attention due to its widespread applications.However,deploying IoD for area coverage poses numerous limitations and challenges.These include interference between neighboring drones,the need for directional antennas,and altitude restrictions for drones.These challenges necessitate the development of efficient solutions.This research paper presents a cooperative decision-making approach for an efficient IoDdeployment to address these challenges effectively.The primary objective of this study is to achieve an efficient IoDdeployment strategy thatmaximizes the coverage regionwhile minimizing interference between neighboring drones.In deployment problem,the interference increases as the number of deployed drones increases,resulting in bad quality of communication.On the other hand,deploying a few drones cannot satisfy the coverage demand.To accomplish this,an enhanced version of a concise population-based meta-heuristic algorithm,namely Improved Particle SwarmOptimization(IPSO),is applied.The objective function of IPSO is defined based on the coverage probability,which is primarily influenced by the characteristics of the antennas and drone altitude.A radio frequency(RF)model is derived to evaluate the coverage quality,considering both Line of Sight(LOS)and Non-Line of Sight(NLOS)down-link coverage probabilities for ground communication.It is assumed that each drone is equipped with a directional antenna to optimize coverage in a given region.Extensive simulations are conducted to assess the effectiveness of the proposed approach.Results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves maximum coverage with minimum transmission power.Furthermore,a comparison is made against Collaborative Visual Area Coverage Approach(CVACA),and a game-based approach in terms of coverage quality and convergence speed.The simulation results reveal that our approach outperforms both CVACA and the gamebased schemes in terms of coverage and convergence speed.Comparisons validate the superiority of our approach over existing methods.To assess the robustness of the proposed RFmodel,we have considered two distinct ranges of noise:range1 spanning from−120 to−90 dBm,and range2 spanning from−90 to−70 dBmfor different numbers of UAVs.In summary,this research presents a cooperative decision-making approach for efficient IoD deployment to address the challenges associatedwith area coverage and achieves an optimal coveragewithminimal interference.展开更多
Integrating Global Navigation Satellite Systems(GNSS)in Simultaneous Localization and Mapping(SLAM)systems draws increasing attention to a global and continuous localization solution.Nonetheless,in dense urban environ...Integrating Global Navigation Satellite Systems(GNSS)in Simultaneous Localization and Mapping(SLAM)systems draws increasing attention to a global and continuous localization solution.Nonetheless,in dense urban environments,GNSS-based SLAM systems will suffer from the Non-Line-Of-Sight(NLOS)measurements,which might lead to a sharp deterioration in localization results.In this paper,we propose to detect the sky area from the up-looking camera to improve GNSS measurement reliability for more accurate position estimation.We present Sky-GVINS:a sky-aware GNSS-Visual-Inertial system based on a recent work called GVINS.Specifically,we adopt a global threshold method to segment the sky regions and non-sky regions in the fish-eye sky-pointing image and then project satellites to the image using the geometric relationship between satellites and the camera.After that,we reject satellites in non-sky regions to eliminate NLOS signals.We investigated various segmentation algorithms for sky detection and found that the Otsu algorithm reported the highest classification rate and computational efficiency,despite the algorithm's simplicity and ease of implementation.To evaluate the effectiveness of Sky-GVINS,we built a ground robot and conducted extensive real-world experiments on campus.Experimental results show that our method improves localization accuracy in both open areas and dense urban environments compared to the baseline method.Finally,we also conduct a detailed analysis and point out possible further directions for future research.For detailed information,visit our project website at https://github.com/SJTU-ViSYS/Sky-GVINS.展开更多

The guidelines have analytical models for determining the extent of clearance, known as the horizontal sightline offset or clearance offset, for simple curves. Researchers in the past have developed analytical models for clearance offsets for spiraled and reverse curves. Very few researchers developed analytical models for available sight distances for compound curves. Still missing are models for horizontal sightline offsets and locations of the offsets for compound curves. The objective of this paper is to present development of analytical models and charts for determining horizontal sightline offsets and their locations for compound curves. The paper considers curves whose component arcs are individually shorter than stopping sight distance. The resulting models and the charts have been verified with accurate values determined using graphical methods. The models and the charts will find application in geometric design of highway compound curves.展开更多

文摘基于机器人队形控制中的领航者-跟随者方法(Leader-Follower Method)和基于行为方法(Behavior-based Method),提出了一种用于多自治水下机器人(AUV)队形控制的新方法。该方法以领航者来确定整个AUV编队的前进状态,跟随者时刻跟随领航者以保持一定的队形形状。同时,领航者和跟随者都被赋予一定的行为特性以实现奔向目标、队形维持、队形转换及障碍避碰等功能。考虑到领航者在行进过程中有可能会发生意外而导致任务失败,本方法设定一特殊的跟随者令其作为候选领航者时刻跟随领航者以防万一。分别采用模糊规划器和Line of Sight(LOS)技术来实现AUV编队的障碍避碰和导航。
