Objectives:Short video addiction has emerged as a significant public health issue in recent years,with a growing trend toward severity.However,research on the causes and impacts of short video addiction remains limite...Objectives:Short video addiction has emerged as a significant public health issue in recent years,with a growing trend toward severity.However,research on the causes and impacts of short video addiction remains limited,and understanding of the variable“TikTok brain”is still in its infancy.Therefore,based on the Stimulus-Organism-Behavior-Consequence(SOBC)framework,we proposed six research hypotheses and constructed a model to explore the relationships between short video usage intensity,TikTok brain,short video addiction,and decreased attention control.Methods:Given that students are considered a high-risk group for excessive short video use,we collected 1086 valid participants from Chinese student users,including 609 males(56.1%)and 477 females(43.9%),with an average participant age of 19.84 years,to test the hypotheses.Results:(1)Short video usage intensity was positively related to short video addiction,TikTok brain,and decreased attention control;(2)TikTok brain was positively related to short video addiction and decreased attention control;and(3)Short video addiction was positively related to decreased attention control.Conclusions:These findings suggest that although excessive use of short video applications brings negative consequences,users still spend significant amounts of time on these platforms,indicating a need for strict self-regulation of usage time.展开更多

Background:With the global popularity of short videos,particularly among young people,short video addiction has become a worrying phenomenon that poses significant risks to individual health and adaptability.Self-regu...Background:With the global popularity of short videos,particularly among young people,short video addiction has become a worrying phenomenon that poses significant risks to individual health and adaptability.Self-regulated learning(SRL)strategies are key factors in predicting learning outcomes.This study,based on the SRL theory,uses short video addiction as the independent variable,SRL strategies as the mediating variable,and learning well-being as the outcome variable,aiming to reveal the relationships among short video addiction,self-regulated learning,and learning well-being among Chinese college students.Methods:Using a cross-sectional study design and applying the snowball sampling technique,an online survey was administered to Chinese undergraduate students.A total of 706 valid questionnaires were collected,with an effective response rate of 85.7%.The average age of the participants was 20.5 years.Results:The results of structural equation modeling indicate that 7 hypotheses were supported.Short video addiction was negatively correlated with self-regulated learning strategies(preparatory,performance,and appraisal strategy),while SRL strategies were positively correlated with learning well-being.Additionally,short video addiction had a mediating effect on learning well-being through the three types of SRL strategies.The three types of SRL strategies explained 39%of the variance in learning well-being.Conclusion:Previous research has typically focused on the impact of self-regulated learning strategies on media addiction or problematic media use.This study,based on the SRL model,highlights the negative issues caused by short video addiction and emphasizes the importance of cultivating self-regulation abilities and media literacy.Short video addiction stems from failures in trait self-regulation,which naturally impairs the ability to effectively engage in self-regulation during the learning process.This study confirms and underscores that the SRL model can serve as an effective theoretical framework for helping students prevent short video addiction,engage in high-quality learning,and consequently enhance their learning well-being.展开更多
With the popularity of 5G and the rapid development of mobile terminals,an endless stream of short video software exists.Browsing short-form mobile video in fragmented time has become the mainstream of user’s life.He...With the popularity of 5G and the rapid development of mobile terminals,an endless stream of short video software exists.Browsing short-form mobile video in fragmented time has become the mainstream of user’s life.Hence,designing an efficient short video recommendation method has become important for major network platforms to attract users and satisfy their requirements.Nevertheless,the explosive growth of data leads to the low efficiency of the algorithm,which fails to distill users’points of interest on one hand effectively.On the other hand,integrating user preferences and the content of items urgently intensify the requirements for platform recommendation.In this paper,we propose a collaborative filtering algorithm,integrating time context information and user context,which pours attention into expanding and discovering user interest.In the first place,we introduce the temporal context information into the typical collaborative filtering algorithm,and leverage the popularity penalty function to weight the similarity between recommended short videos and the historical short videos.There remains one more point.We also introduce the user situation into the traditional collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm,considering the context information of users in the generation recommendation stage,and weight the recommended short-formvideos of candidates.At last,a diverse approach is used to generate a Top-K recommendation list for users.And through a case study,we illustrate the accuracy and diversity of the proposed method.展开更多
Objective:To study the application effect of short video combined with BOPPPS teaching mode in clinical anesthesia practice.Method:48 students assigned to clinical anesthesia in digestive endoscopy of Shanxi Bethune H...Objective:To study the application effect of short video combined with BOPPPS teaching mode in clinical anesthesia practice.Method:48 students assigned to clinical anesthesia in digestive endoscopy of Shanxi Bethune Hospital from July 1,2022 to April 1,2023 were selected as research objects.They were randomly divided into the control group(PowerPoint presentation teaching group)and the observation group(short video combined with BOPPPS teaching group),with 24 students in each group.After the internship,the students’theoretical and technical scores were tested,the effects of the two teaching modes were compared,and the students’satisfaction was investigated.Results:The test scores of students in the observation group were significantly better than those in the control group(P<0.05).The short video combined with BOPPPS teaching mode can significantly improve students’learning interest,operation skills,and memory(P<0.05).The students’satisfaction in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:In clinical practice,the application of short video combined with BOPPPS teaching mode has achieved great effect,which is worth further promotion and research.展开更多
Short video applications like Tik Tok have seen significant growth in recent years.One common behavior of users on these platforms is watching and swiping through videos,which can lead to a significant waste of bandwi...Short video applications like Tik Tok have seen significant growth in recent years.One common behavior of users on these platforms is watching and swiping through videos,which can lead to a significant waste of bandwidth.As such,an important challenge in short video streaming is to design a preloading algorithm that can effectively decide which videos to download,at what bitrate,and when to pause the download in order to reduce bandwidth waste while improving the Quality of Experience(QoE).However,designing such an algorithm is non-trivial,especially when considering the conflicting objectives of minimizing bandwidth waste and maximizing QoE.In this paper,we propose an end-to-end Deep reinforcement learning framework with Action Masking called DAM that leverages domain knowledge to learn an optimal policy for short video preloading.To achieve this,we introduce a reward shaping technique to minimize bandwidth waste and use action masking to make actions more reasonable,reduce playback rebuffering,and accelerate the training process.We have conducted extensive experiments using real-world video datasets and network traces including 4G/Wi Fi/5G.Our results show that DAM improves the Qo E score by 3.73%-11.28%compared to state-of-the-art algorithms,and achieves an average bandwidth waste of only 10.27%-12.07%,outperforming all baseline methods.展开更多

文摘With the popularity of 5G and the rapid development of mobile terminals,an endless stream of short video software exists.Browsing short-form mobile video in fragmented time has become the mainstream of user’s life.Hence,designing an efficient short video recommendation method has become important for major network platforms to attract users and satisfy their requirements.Nevertheless,the explosive growth of data leads to the low efficiency of the algorithm,which fails to distill users’points of interest on one hand effectively.On the other hand,integrating user preferences and the content of items urgently intensify the requirements for platform recommendation.In this paper,we propose a collaborative filtering algorithm,integrating time context information and user context,which pours attention into expanding and discovering user interest.In the first place,we introduce the temporal context information into the typical collaborative filtering algorithm,and leverage the popularity penalty function to weight the similarity between recommended short videos and the historical short videos.There remains one more point.We also introduce the user situation into the traditional collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm,considering the context information of users in the generation recommendation stage,and weight the recommended short-formvideos of candidates.At last,a diverse approach is used to generate a Top-K recommendation list for users.And through a case study,we illustrate the accuracy and diversity of the proposed method.

文摘Objective:To study the application effect of short video combined with BOPPPS teaching mode in clinical anesthesia practice.Method:48 students assigned to clinical anesthesia in digestive endoscopy of Shanxi Bethune Hospital from July 1,2022 to April 1,2023 were selected as research objects.They were randomly divided into the control group(PowerPoint presentation teaching group)and the observation group(short video combined with BOPPPS teaching group),with 24 students in each group.After the internship,the students’theoretical and technical scores were tested,the effects of the two teaching modes were compared,and the students’satisfaction was investigated.Results:The test scores of students in the observation group were significantly better than those in the control group(P<0.05).The short video combined with BOPPPS teaching mode can significantly improve students’learning interest,operation skills,and memory(P<0.05).The students’satisfaction in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:In clinical practice,the application of short video combined with BOPPPS teaching mode has achieved great effect,which is worth further promotion and research.

文摘Short video applications like Tik Tok have seen significant growth in recent years.One common behavior of users on these platforms is watching and swiping through videos,which can lead to a significant waste of bandwidth.As such,an important challenge in short video streaming is to design a preloading algorithm that can effectively decide which videos to download,at what bitrate,and when to pause the download in order to reduce bandwidth waste while improving the Quality of Experience(QoE).However,designing such an algorithm is non-trivial,especially when considering the conflicting objectives of minimizing bandwidth waste and maximizing QoE.In this paper,we propose an end-to-end Deep reinforcement learning framework with Action Masking called DAM that leverages domain knowledge to learn an optimal policy for short video preloading.To achieve this,we introduce a reward shaping technique to minimize bandwidth waste and use action masking to make actions more reasonable,reduce playback rebuffering,and accelerate the training process.We have conducted extensive experiments using real-world video datasets and network traces including 4G/Wi Fi/5G.Our results show that DAM improves the Qo E score by 3.73%-11.28%compared to state-of-the-art algorithms,and achieves an average bandwidth waste of only 10.27%-12.07%,outperforming all baseline methods.

文摘In the age of new media,short videos play an increasingly important role in international cultural exchange.However,German learners often encounter challenges when producing and sharing short videos due to factors such as technology and language proficiency.Such challenges can affect the professionalism and attractiveness of the videos.This study focuses on German learners at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.The aim of this study is to investigate students’experiences in producing short videos,identify issues through surveys and interviews,and concentrate on editing skills,language proficiency,and intercultural communication abilities.It proposes strategies for developing these skills and aims to provide insights for German and other foreign language learners in telling Chinese stories using short videos.
