It is absolutely critical that trusted configuration management which significantly affects trust chain establishment, sealing storage and remote attestation, especially in trusted virtualization platform like Xen whose system configuration changes easily. TPM (trusted platform module) context manager is presented to carry out dynamic configuration management for virtual machine. It manages the TPM command requests and VM (virtual machine) configurations. The dynamic configuration representa- tion method based on Merkle hash tree is explicitly proposed against TCG (trusted computing group) static configuration representation. It reflects the true VM status in real time even if the configuration has changed, and it eliminates the invalidation of configuration representation, sealing storage and remote attestation. TPM context manager supports TCG storage protection, remote attestation etc, which greatly enhances the security on trusted virtualization platform. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose a trusted mobile payment environment (TMPE) based on trusted computing and virtualization technology. There are a normal operating system (OS) and a trusted OS (TOS) in TMPE. We store the image of TOS in a memory card to hinder tampering. The integrity of TOS is protected by means of a trusted platform module (TPM). TOS can only be updated through a trusted third party. In addition, virtualization technology is applied to isolate TOS from normal OS. Users complete ordinary affairs in normal OS and security-sensitive affairs in TOS. TMPE can offer users a highly protected environment for mobile payment. Moreover, TMPE has good compatibility in different hardware architectures of mobile platforms. As the evaluation shows, TMPE satisfies the requirement of mobile payment well. 展开更多

Cyber-Physical-Social System Between a Humanoid Robot and a Virtual Human Through a Shared Platform for Adaptive Agent Ecology 被引量:3

Two artificial agents(a humanoid robot and a virtual human) are enriched with various similar intelligence,autonomy, functionalities and interaction modalities. The agents are integrated in the form of a cyber-physical-social system(CPSS) through a shared communication platform to create a social ecology. In the ecology, the agents collaborate(assist each other) to perform a real-world task(search for a hidden object)for the benefits of humans. A robot-virtual human bilateral trust model is derived and a real-time trust measurement method is developed. The role of taking initiative in the collaboration is switched between the agents following a finite state machine model triggered by bilateral trust, which results in a mixedinitiative collaboration. A scheme is developed to evaluate the performance of the agents in the ecology through the CPSS.The results show that the robot and the virtual human perform satisfactorily in the collaboration through the CPSS. The results thus prove the effectiveness of the real-world ecology between artificial agents of heterogeneous realities through a shared platform based on trust-triggered mixed-initiatives. The results can help develop adaptive social ecology comprising intelligent agents of heterogeneous realities to assist humans in various tasks through collaboration between the agents in the form of a CPSS. 展开更多

Based on the theory of space coordinate transformation, kinematics equat!ons of RFP are formulated; followed by applying a method of modeling using 3DMAX software to build an RFP's 3D geometric model before a 3D kinematics simulation system of RFP is completed based on virtual reality technology and Open Inventor VC + +. Test results have indicated that this system can perform RFP's kinematics simulation in virtual environment. It can also imitate RFP's motion states and environmental features well. Moreover, not only can better real-time performances and interactions be achieved but also operator's vision telepresence be enhanced, therefore this approach may help lay the foundation for the realization of RFP's teleoperation with vision telepresence. 展开更多

Lightweight Virtualization Cluster How to Overcome Cloud Vendor Lock-In

To overcome vendor lock-in obstacles in public cloud computing, the capability to define transferable cloud-based services is crucial but has not yet been solved satisfactorily. This is especially true for small and medium sized enterprises being typically not able to operate a vast staff of cloud service and IT experts. Actual state of the art cloud service design does not systematically deal with how to define, deploy and operate cross-platform capable cloud services. This is mainly due to inherent complexity of the field and differences in details between a plenty of existing public and private cloud infrastructures. One way to handle this complexity is to restrict cloud service design to a common subset of commodity features provided by existing public and private cloud infrastructures. Nevertheless these restrictions raise new service design questions and have to be answered in ongoing research in a pragmatic manner regarding the limited IT-operation capabilities of small and medium sized enterprises. By simplifying and harmonizing the use of cloud infrastructures using lightweight virtualization approaches, the transfer of cloud deployments between a variety of cloud service providers will become possible. This article will discuss several aspects like high availability, secure communication, elastic service design, transferability of services and formal descriptions of service deployments which have to be addressed and are investigated by our ongoing research. 展开更多

This paper presents vCerberus, a novel hypervisor to provide trusted and isolated code execution within virtual domains vCerberus is considerably tiny, while allowing secure sensitive codes to be executed in an isolated circumstance from the virtual ddmain, and can be attested by a remote party in an efficient way. These properties will be guaranteed even if the vip operating system is malicious. This protects the secure sensitive codes against the malicious codes in the vip OS, e.g., the kernel rootkits. We present an approach to dynamically measure and isolate the launch environment on the virtual machines based on the para-virtualization technology and a novel virtualization of trusted platform module (TPM). Our performance experiment result shows that the overhead introduced by vCerberus is minimized; the performance of the launch environment in vCerberus is as competitive as the vip OS running on mainstream hypervisors. 展开更多

Background Over the last few years,the rapid advancement of technology has led to the development of many approaches to digitalization.In this respect,metaverse provides 3D persistent virtual environments that can be used to access digital content,meet virtually,and perform several professional and leisure tasks.Among the numerous technologies supporting the metaverse,immersive Virtual Reality(VR)plays a primary role and offers highly interactive social experiences.Despite growing interest in this area,there are no clear design guidelines for creating environments tailored to the metaverse.Methods This study seeks to advance research in this area by moving from state-of-the-art studies on the design of immersive virtual environments in the context of metaverse and proposing how to integrate cutting-edge technologies within this context.Specifically,the best practices were identified by i)analyzing literature studies focused on human behavior in immersive virtual environments,ii)extracting common features of existing social VR platforms,and iii)conducting interviews with experts in a specific application domain.Specifically,this study considered the creation of a new virtual environment for MetaLibrary,a VR-based social platform aimed at integrating public libraries into metaverse.Several implementation challenges and additional requirements have been identified for the development of virtual environments(VEs).These elements were considered in the selection of specific cutting-edge technologies and their integration into the development process.A user study was also conducted to investigate some design aspects(namely lighting conditions and richness of the scene layout)for which deriving clear indications from the above analysis was not possible because different alternative configurations could be chosen.Results The work reported in this paper seeks to bridge the gap between existing VR platforms and related literature in the field,on the one hand,and requirements regarding immersive virtual environments for the metaverse,on the other hand,by reporting a set of best practices which were used to build a social virtual environment that meets users'expectations and needs.Conclusions Results suggest that carefully designed virtual environments can positively affect user experience and interaction within metaverse.The insights gained from this study offer valuable cues for developing immersive virtual environments for the metaverse to deliver more effective and engaging experiences. 展开更多
