Obtaining unsteady hydrodynamic performance is of great significance for seaplane design.Common methods for obtaining unsteady hydrodynamic performance data include tank test and Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)numerical simulation, which are costly and time-consuming.Therefore,it is necessary to obtain unsteady hydrodynamic performance in a low-cost and high-precision manner.Due to the strong nonlinearity, complex data distribution, and temporal characteristics of unsteady hydrodynamic performance, the prediction of it is challenging. This paper proposes a Temporal Convolutional Diffusion Model(TCDM)for predicting the unsteady hydrodynamic performance of seaplanes given design parameters.Under the framework of a classifier-free guided diffusion model,TCDM learns the distribution patterns of unsteady hydrodynamic performance data with the designed denoising module based on temporal convolutional network and captures the temporal features of unsteady hydrodynamic performance data.Using CFD simulation data, the proposed method is compared with the alternative methods to demonstrate its accuracy and generalization. This paper provides a method that enables the rapid and accurate prediction of unsteady hydrodynamic performance data, expecting to shorten the design cycle of seaplanes. 展开更多

In recent years, forest fires and maritime accidents have occurred frequently, which have had a bad impact on human production and life. Thus, the development of seaplanes is an increasingly urgent demand. It is important to study the taxiing process of seaplanes for the development of seaplanes, which is a strong nonlinear fluid-structure interaction problem. In this paper, the smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)method based on the Lagrangian framework is utilized to simulate the taxiing process of seaplanes, and the SPH results are compared with those of the finite volume method(FVM)based on the Eulerian method. The results show that the SPH method can not only give the same accuracy as the FVM but also have a strong ability to capture the splashing waves in the taxiing process, which is quite meaningful for the subsequent study of the effect of a splash on other parts of the seaplane. 展开更多

The marine area of Japan, including territorial waters and the exclusive economic zone, is the sixth largest in the world at about 4,470,000 km2. Therefore, it is becoming necessary to establish appropriate means of transportation other than ships in order to utilize the area efficiently. In this respect, ultra-light seaplanes are attracting attention from the viewpoint of protecting the natural environment. Accordingly, JRPS (Japan Reinforced Plastics Society) is currently developing FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) floats for such planes. In this study, we conducted simulations of seaplane behavior during alighting by using the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method, which is one of the functions in the PAM-CRASH solver, and we present the observed trend in the vertical acceleration of the floats as a first step toward deriving the impact force from analytical data. 展开更多

Amphibian aircraft have seen a rise in popularity in the recreational and utility sectors due to their ability to take off and land on both land and water, thus serving a myriad of purposes, such as aerobatics, surveillance, and firefighting. Such seaplanes must be aerodynamically and hydrodynamically efficient, particularly during the takeoff phase. Naval architects have long employed innovative techniques to optimize the performance of marine vessels, including incorporating spray rails on hulls. This research paper is dedicated to a comprehensive investigation into the potential utilization of spray rails to enhance the takeoff performance of amphibian aircraft. Several spray rail configurations obtained from naval research were simulated on a bare Seamax M22 amphibian hull to observe an approximate 10% - 25% decrease in water resistance at high speeds alongside a 3% reduction in the takeoff time. This study serves as a motivation to improve the design of the reference airplane hull and a platform for detailed investigations in the future to improve modern amphibian design. 展开更多
