Four distinct phases are noted in the development of SP: institutional reconstruction, structural maturity, fast development of a legal system and comprehensive strategic upgrading. China has achieved much during these phases in the areas of SP mechanisms, funding, personnel, infrastructure, resources and civic scientific literacy. At the same time, it is also facing challenges in strategic positioning, the effectiveness of SP policies, internationalization, the construction of the SP system and scientific culture. Evidently, the government's prioritization of SP is critical for advancing this initiative. In the future, under the government's leadership, the following directions should be pursued: expanding and improving civic scientific literacy through a focus on internationalization;promoting scientific cooperation from a global perspective;establishing a long-term SP mechanism;and building a service platform to promote ‘smart SP'. SP in China is clearly on the right track and will continue to advance in the future.展开更多

In other words, Chinese society has transformed from a phase seeking rapid development to one seeking steady and all-round development. China's science popularization since the founding of the People's Republic of China has been focusing on the immediacy and timeliness of science communication but, in its current efforts to build a new science culture,it is more concerned with the cultivation of scientific values and the quality of persistence. In this era that upholds science culture, the mission of both science popularization and science culture is to make science go beyond the scientific community and to develop values and practice paths that support the public's pursuit of a better life. For that purpose, this paper proposes five projects based on the action network of science culture construction: fostering scientific spirit;disseminating science culture;institutionalizing science culture;science culture infrastructure for public benefits;and public engagement with science.展开更多

The issue of myopia among children and adolescents has attracted widespread attention from all sectors of society. Comprehensive myopia prevention and control efforts have been launched nationwide. Popular science education, vision screening, and improving visual environments are effective measures for preventing myopia. However, among the target audience for comprehensive myopia prevention and control, the preschool children group has been neglected, and the work of myopia prevention and control for this group has been significantly weakened and marginalized. Due to insufficient awareness of prevention and control, the hyperopia reserve in the preschool children group is being continuously depleted, leading to the early onset of myopia. In light of this situation, the focus of myopia prevention and control needs to shift forward, and it is worth exploring and pondering how college students with a background in optometry can develop entertaining and engaging popular science education materials and methods.展开更多

Attempting to answer the call, a number of journals and newspapers published special issues dedicated to the movement, including many contributions from senior political officials and technological influencers. The papers explored the meaning and role of science, scientific research, science popularization, science-related awards and similar topics. The writers underscored the value of science, publicized the idea of ‘saving the country by means of science’(科学救国), highlighted the value of basic science and social science, and explained how different disciplines could play their part in national defence. They envisaged postwar reconstruction plans in fields as diverse as telecommunications and forestry and called on young people to study science and take the initiative by devoting themselves to scientific research. The publication of these special issues raised the status of science, especially the basic and social sciences, while playing a positive role in encouraging young people to engage in scientific research.展开更多

We used TCA approaches, such as the validity claims that should characterize argumentative debate and the interactive processes with ‘lifeworld'components(culture, person and society), to create a theoretical relationship between Habermas' s theory and SP practices. We propose that the TCA aligns with the objectives of a dialogic communication about science with the non-specialist public and can contribute to perspectives that emphasize dialogue about science in society. We conclude that the premises of communicative action can guide SP policies.

文摘Currently, the number of myopic people in China has reached as high as 600 million, and it shows a trend of “early onset, high incidence, and a high degree of severity”. In light of this situation, the focus of myopia prevention and control needs to shift forward, and it is worth exploring and pondering how college students with a background in optometry can develop entertaining and engaging popular science education materials and methods.

文摘In 1941, Chiang Kai-shek put forward the proposition that ‘National defence is built upon science and technology, and the strength of a country is secured by national defence’, marking the official start of the National Defence Science Movement(国防科学运动). The publication of these special issues raised the status of science, especially the basic and social sciences, while playing a positive role in encouraging young people to engage in scientific research.

文摘Popular science tourism is a new tourism mode, and geopark scenic area is an important carrier of popular science tourism. It is the premise and foundation for the popular science tourism development of geoparks to establish a scientific evaluation index system and evaluation model. On the basis of analyzing relevant evaluation models, this paper explored the evaluation system and model of geopark popular science tourism in following steps. First, establish the index system. Based on the theory method, frequency method, and expert consultation method, this paper established the popular science tourism evaluation index system of geopark scenic area. The evaluation index system includes 3 primary indexes, 8 secondary indexes and 30 tertiary indexes. Second, define index weight and scoring standards. Index weights were defined using Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP), the measuring method of each index and the scoring standards were specified. Third, evaluation model and grade. The evaluation model of popular science tourism development was constructed, and the evaluation results were classified into 4 grades. Fourth, empirical study. The evaluation model was applied to measure and investigate popular science tourism of Henan Yuntain Mountain World Geopark, and the final score was 7.619, indicating a higher evaluation grade of popular science tourism of the park.
