Background:With the rapid development of modern emerging technologies,the ethical dilemmas and social controversies triggered by scientific and technological activities have become increasingly prominent.How to guide ...Background:With the rapid development of modern emerging technologies,the ethical dilemmas and social controversies triggered by scientific and technological activities have become increasingly prominent.How to guide technology for good and prevent and control technological risks has become an important issue of global concern.Research on science and technology ethics is dedicated to integrating ethical theories into governance practices and constructing ethical models that adapt to the development of the times.Methods:This article systematically reviews the six core approaches of scientific and technological ethics thought,including technological autonomy and political philosophy criticism,responsibility ethics and intergenerational obligations,technological intermediation and the integration of life and the world,ethical principles and normative frameworks,participatory governance and ethical practice innovation,as well as domain-specific ethical norms,thereby constructing an ethical analysis framework applicable to medical technology risks.And cross-analysis was conducted by taking medical events such as gene editing and xenotransplantation as examples.Results:Research shows that a single ethical approach has limitations in addressing complex medical ethical challenges,while the six approaches are complementary and synergistic.By criticizing technological autonomy,establishing a responsibility ethics orientation,setting the bottom line of ethical principles,promoting participatory governance,formulating domain norms,and continuously reflecting on the intermediary nature of technology,a multi-level and dynamically adaptive governance system for scientific and technological ethics can be constructed.Conclusion:The key to addressing contemporary medical ethics challenges lies in the comprehensive application of science and technology ethics theories and the integration of ethical considerations throughout the entire process of scientific and technological research and development.In the future,a governance framework that adapts to the development of new technologies should be established to promote cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary ethical dialogue and public participation,ensuring that scientific and technological innovation always serves the dignity of human life and overall well-being.展开更多

Periodontitis has emerged as one of the most critical oral diseases, and research on this condition holds great importance for the advancement of stomatology. As the most authoritative national scientific research funding institution in China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has played a pivotal role in driving the progress of periodontal science by supporting research on periodontitis. This article provides a comprehensive review of the research and development progress related to periodontitis in China from 2014 to 2023, highlighting the significant contributions of the NSFC to this field. We have summarized the detailed funding information from the NSFC, including the number of applicant codes, funded programs and the distribution of funded scholars. These data illustrate the efforts of the NSFC in cultivating young scientists and building research groups to address key challenges in national scientific research. Also some of the philosophers of science and their specific philosophical interests were expressed. Author considered some type of interactions between some disciplines to determine, to solve the philosophical/scientific problems and to define the possible solutions. The purposes of this article are： （i） to define new synthesis method, （ii） to define new perspective for the philosophy of science, （iii） to define relation between new philosophy perspective and philosophy of science, （iv） to define and organize name, number, relations, and correct structure between special science branches and philosophy of science, （v） to define necessary and sufficient number of branches for philosophy of science, （vi） to define and express the importance and place of new philosophy of science perspective in the new system, （vii） to extend the definition/limits of philosophy of science, （viii） to re-define meanings of some philosophical/scientific theories, （ix） to define systematic solution for the conflicts, problems, confusions about philosophy of science, sciences and branches of science, （x） to define new branches of science, （xi） to re-construct branches and hierarchy of science, （xii） to define new theories about science and branches of science. Author considered R-Synthesis as a method for the evaluation oftbe philosophy, philosophy of science, sciences and branches of science. This R-Synthesis includes evaluation of eight categories of general/specific perspective, 21-dimensions, and 12 general subjects （with related scope and contents） for the past 12,000 years. It is a kind of synthesis of science and non-science, physical science and non-physical science, religious science and non-religious science, and others. In this article, author defined 27 possible definitive/certain result cases for this new synthesis. Author defined the possible formation stages shortly to express new disciplines, new constructional and/or complementary theories. These theories are considered to define 21 major effective disciplines. New philosophy perspective is defined （R-Philosophy） shortly. New perspective and sub branches are defined for the philosophy of science. Major sciences are defined due to new basic philosophies. 42-basic components are defined for each science branch. New and/or re-constructed sciences, branches of science, basic sciences, and new hierarchy of science are defined with figure. Good mental well-being is necessary for achievement in science at any level.There are extrinsic factors that have the potential to determine a learner’s mental well-being,and the role of the parent(s)cannot be underm...Good mental well-being is necessary for achievement in science at any level.There are extrinsic factors that have the potential to determine a learner’s mental well-being,and the role of the parent(s)cannot be undermined.Therefore,this study examined the relationships between parental engagement(PE),parents’attitude to science(PAS),and mental well-being(MWb)among junior science students.This descriptive survey involved a population of Junior Secondary Three(3)students studying Basic Science in public co-educational schools.A sample of three hundred(300)respondents was randomly drawn from 10 schools within the metropolis.Quantitative data were sourced using three validated questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.The research showed that PE(2.19)and PAS(2.13)are relatively high,while MWb(2.51)is moderately normal.The influence of PE and PAS on MWb is significant.Both PE and PAS have a significant positive relationship with MWb.Also,PE and PAS were found to jointly contribute to students’MWb.In conclusion,PE and PAS have implications for the child’s mental well-being and ultimate success in science.We,therefore,recommend that more parental engagement be encouraged by improving sensitization,and orientation programs could be organized for parents of science students.This may provide an avenue for parents to be better equipped to support their young scientists.展开更多

文摘Good mental well-being is necessary for achievement in science at any level.There are extrinsic factors that have the potential to determine a learner’s mental well-being,and the role of the parent(s)cannot be undermined.Therefore,this study examined the relationships between parental engagement(PE),parents’attitude to science(PAS),and mental well-being(MWb)among junior science students.This descriptive survey involved a population of Junior Secondary Three(3)students studying Basic Science in public co-educational schools.A sample of three hundred(300)respondents was randomly drawn from 10 schools within the metropolis.Quantitative data were sourced using three validated questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.The research showed that PE(2.19)and PAS(2.13)are relatively high,while MWb(2.51)is moderately normal.The influence of PE and PAS on MWb is significant.Both PE and PAS have a significant positive relationship with MWb.Also,PE and PAS were found to jointly contribute to students’MWb.In conclusion,PE and PAS have implications for the child’s mental well-being and ultimate success in science.We,therefore,recommend that more parental engagement be encouraged by improving sensitization,and orientation programs could be organized for parents of science students.This may provide an avenue for parents to be better equipped to support their young scientists.
文摘In this paper,we analyse the positioning of traditional science centre–style popular-science venues as a specific type of popular-science infrastructure.We also briefly elaborate on the enlightening role and value of science-history education for youth based on our own understanding.Through the analysis of these two aspects,we propose a‘reproduction’model of education on science history based on this type of popular-science venue and analyse the basic patterns that should be‘re-enacted’in exhibition design and the methods for selecting related science-history themes.
