Despite significant progress over the past fifteen years associated with School Mapping Restructure(SMR)in Chinese rural schools,many small schools have been closed or have merged with larger primary schools.This has ...Despite significant progress over the past fifteen years associated with School Mapping Restructure(SMR)in Chinese rural schools,many small schools have been closed or have merged with larger primary schools.This has resulted,among other things,in difficulties for many students in rural areas who now have to travel longer distances to a central(primary)school and whose families generally have to bear greater expenses for schooling.This paper examines the role of small rural schools in the Chinese education system,looks at the context and impacts of SMR on these schools in terms of quality,cost and access indicators,and highlights some of the key difficulties faced by these schools in the restructured education system.We argue that small rural schools have a significant role to play in delivering education services in rural China and should therefore be retained,supported and equipped with the right levels of facilities and quality services for them to fulfill their role.The policy implications of these findings for education officials are discussed in the context of continuing SMR.展开更多

This study conducts a discussion where approaches to memory with spatial representations made by elementary school students in the city of Jaguariaiva, Paranfi, Brazil. Cultural identities are treated as meaning production instance about the living spaces. The relations between formal education, especially the curriculum selected by school geography, and the knowledge of lived experience, can contribute to the study of the references and spatial horizons of residents of urban and rural regions. This perspective is proposed as discussion that aims to contribute to the advancement of reflections on the relationship between school mapping and the production of sense of belonging to different locations.展开更多
Background:As an important international journal in the field of school health,the Journal of School Health has drawn wide attention from researchers and readers around the world.Therefore,it is important to conduct ...Background:As an important international journal in the field of school health,the Journal of School Health has drawn wide attention from researchers and readers around the world.Therefore,it is important to conduct a systematic retrospective study of the journal.With the aim of understanding the development of the journal and the evolutionary process of cooperative study of this field comprehensively,we employed bibliometric analysis using the articles published in the Journal of School Health from 1965.Methods:Using bibliometrics,5242 articles published in the journal were extracted and then analyzed using the visualization software CiteSpace Ⅲ.Results:The annual published amount of literature showed a declining tendency;however,the frequency of citation displayed an increase year by year.Among prolific authors,the number of reports published by JH Price,L Kann and RJ McDermott are at the top.Among the high frequency keywords used in the research journal, "adolescents", "children" and "programs" have become popular in the journal's vocabulary.CDCP,Univ Texas and Univ Calif are positioned in the forefront of the involved institutions when ranked by degree of contribution.Conclusions:The Journal of School Health provides an important platform for sharing research achievements and promoting cooperation in this field.The amount of articles published in the journal is continually improving;its cooperative research network promoted by famous scholars and institutions is forming.As more researchers and institutions join,the network will grow and relationships will become increasingly close.However,limitations to cooperation at the regional or interagency scope remain.展开更多
