Transitioning from outcrossing to self-fertilization is a widespread reproductive strategy in plants,especially in environments where pollination is limited.Despite its prevalence,this transition has rarely been exami...Transitioning from outcrossing to self-fertilization is a widespread reproductive strategy in plants,especially in environments where pollination is limited.Despite its prevalence,this transition has rarely been examined using transplant experiments,and previous studies have overlooked the contribution of the male parent in elucidating mating diversity.In this study,six transplanted populations were generated to investigate the relationship of the pollination environment with plant mating patterns and fecundity in Primula oreodoxa,a species that exhibits both distyly(predominantly outcrossing)and homostyly(predominantly selfing),based on data from 3582 individuals and 11 SSR markers.Homostylous plants had fruit and seed sets comparable to those of distylous plants at lower elevations but exhibited a clear reproductive advantage at higher elevations,particularly compared with the S morph.As elevation increased,the populational selfing rates increased,and the genetic diversity among the progeny was reduced.Furthermore,the visitation frequency of long-tongued pollinators was negatively and positively correlated with the selfing rate and number of mates,respectively,in the L and S morphs.In contrast,short-tongued pollinator visitation showed opposite correlations with the selfing rate and number of mates in homostylous morphs.In most populations,individuals functioned consistently as both female and male,and mating occurred randomly,suggesting a breakdown of the distyly polymorphism.Overall,our results provide experimental validation of the reproductive advantages of homostyly at high elevations by revealing that pollinator visitation shapes the selfing rate and mating diversity within populations,potentially driving the divergence of mating systems along environmental gradients.展开更多
A fairly precise vision of a healthy physical self can serve as motivation for undertaking the means to that end.The same cannot be said with regard to“healthy moral selves”.By definition,democracy is about living w...A fairly precise vision of a healthy physical self can serve as motivation for undertaking the means to that end.The same cannot be said with regard to“healthy moral selves”.By definition,democracy is about living with others and,as we argue,a healthy moral self is one that lives well with others.However,precisely what“living with others”entails is ambiguous,particularly in a capitalist economy that presumes that the greatest happiness results from antagonistic competitiveness.In an attempt to demystify how self-focused individuals may nonetheless thrive in“the space between”,we will examine,with the help of Kant and Foucault,the Enlightenment Project that promoted maximal reasonableness(or what we are referring to as“healthy moral selves”)and then,with the help of Steven Pinker and Alisdair MacIntyre,explore the factors that have led to its seeming relatively recent failure.We will argue,following Iris Murdoch and others,that the best hope for its revitalization,and with it,democracy,lies,on one hand,with the debunking of counterfeit moral selves who use a“moral stance”to deliver what Frankfurt refers to as“bullshit”,and,on the other,with the reinvigoration of our understanding that healthy moral selves require a steady diet of engaging in“objective practical reasoning”with those who think differently,thereby potentially starving our fat relentless egos that are so often the source of divisiveness and,in so doing,become happy by becoming worthy of being happy.In animating the value of this goal,the hope is that the means,i.e.,education for the reinvigoration of practical reason(the forgotten twin of theoretical reason)and genuine deliberative dialogue across difference will become sufficiently attractive that it will energize democratic practice and dialogue to such an extent that democracy,as a form of government,may yet flourish despite the atomizing forces of capitalism.展开更多

Foreign body classification on coal conveyor belts is a critical component of intelligent coal mining systems.Previous approaches have primarily utilized convolutional neural networks(CNNs)to effectively integrate spa...Foreign body classification on coal conveyor belts is a critical component of intelligent coal mining systems.Previous approaches have primarily utilized convolutional neural networks(CNNs)to effectively integrate spatial and semantic information.However,the performance of CNN-based methods remains limited in classification accuracy,primarily due to insufficient exploration of local image characteristics.Unlike CNNs,Vision Transformer(ViT)captures discriminative features by modeling relationships between local image patches.However,such methods typically require a large number of training samples to perform effectively.In the context of foreign body classification on coal conveyor belts,the limited availability of training samples hinders the full exploitation of Vision Transformer’s(ViT)capabilities.To address this issue,we propose an efficient approach,termed Key Part-level Attention Vision Transformer(KPA-ViT),which incorporates key local information into the transformer architecture to enrich the training information.It comprises three main components:a key-point detection module,a key local mining module,and an attention module.To extract key local regions,a key-point detection strategy is first employed to identify the positions of key points.Subsequently,the key local mining module extracts the relevant local features based on these detected points.Finally,an attention module composed of self-attention and cross-attention blocks is introduced to integrate global and key part-level information,thereby enhancing the model’s ability to learn discriminative features.Compared to recent transformer-based frameworks—such as ViT,Swin-Transformer,and EfficientViT—the proposed KPA-ViT achieves performance improvements of 9.3%,6.6%,and 2.8%,respectively,on the CUMT-BelT dataset,demonstrating its effectiveness.展开更多

High‐entropy energy, such as micro‐wind, vibrations, water motion, and human activity, is widely available but difficult to harness due to its low density, randomness, and spatiotemporal fragmentation. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), with high efficiency to low‐frequency and irregular mechanical stimuli, offer a promising solution for efficient energy harvesting, driving the advancement of SPSs with high‐entropy distribution. This review outlines the basic concepts and recent developments of TENG‐driven SPSs, focusing on strategies for energy harvesting, power management, and system integration. It highlights structural optimization and performance enhancement under typical highentropy scenarios and analyzes key challenges in energy conversion, power regulation, and load management. Finally, the potential applications of TENG‐driven SPSs are discussed in emerging smart fields such as infrastructure monitoring, lowaltitude economy, mobile intelligent devices, and ocean sensing networks.展开更多
Flexible and wearable electronics are attracting surging attention due to their potential applications in human health monitoring and precision therapies.Safety hazards including strong magnetic field and electric lea...Flexible and wearable electronics are attracting surging attention due to their potential applications in human health monitoring and precision therapies.Safety hazards including strong magnetic field and electric leakage are big risk factors for human health.It remains challenging to develop self‐powered and wearable safety hazard sensors that could not only be able to monitor human motions but also have functions for detecting potential hazards.In this work,we fabricated a self‐powered,shapeable,and wearable magnetic triboelectric nanogenerator(MTENG)based on ferrofluid,Ecoflex,and carbonized silk fabric that possessed effective hazard prevention and biomechanical motion sensing ability.A peak open‐circuit voltage of 0.7 V and short‐circuit current of 10μA m^(−2)can be achieved when magnetic field is changed between 3.5 and 37.1 mT.As a component of triboelectric layer of the MTENG,ferrofluid can substantially extend the range of its sensing capabilities to many hazardous cues such as dangerous magnetic field.Furtherly,the developed multifunctional and self‐powered sensor can be used to monitor human activities such as drinking water and bending finger.This effort opens up a new design opportunity for hazard avoidance wearable electronics and self‐powered sensors.展开更多
Convolutional neural network(CNN)with the encoder-decoder structure is popular in medical image segmentation due to its excellent local feature extraction ability but it faces limitations in capturing the global featu...Convolutional neural network(CNN)with the encoder-decoder structure is popular in medical image segmentation due to its excellent local feature extraction ability but it faces limitations in capturing the global feature.The transformer can extract the global information well but adapting it to small medical datasets is challenging and its computational complexity can be heavy.In this work,a serial and parallel network is proposed for the accurate 3D medical image segmentation by combining CNN and transformer and promoting feature interactions across various semantic levels.The core components of the proposed method include the cross window self-attention based transformer(CWST)and multi-scale local enhanced(MLE)modules.The CWST module enhances the global context understanding by partitioning 3D images into non-overlapping windows and calculating sparse global attention between windows.The MLE module selectively fuses features by computing the voxel attention between different branch features,and uses convolution to strengthen the dense local information.The experiments on the prostate,atrium,and pancreas MR/CT image datasets consistently demonstrate the advantage of the proposed method over six popular segmentation models in both qualitative evaluation and quantitative indexes such as dice similarity coefficient,Intersection over Union,95%Hausdorff distance and average symmetric surface distance.展开更多

Through large-scale machine-learning-accelerated ...The dynamics of phase separation in H–He binary systems within gas giants such as Jupiter and Saturn exhibit remarkable complexity, yet lack systematic investigation. Through large-scale machine-learning-accelerated molecular dynamics simulations spanning broad temperature-pressure-composition(2000–10000 K, 1–7 Mbar,pure H to pure He) regimes, we systematically determine self and mutual diffusion coefficients in H–He systems and establish a six-dimensional framework correlating temperature, pressure, helium abundance, phase separation degree, diffusion coefficients, and anisotropy. Key findings reveal that hydrogen exhibits active directional migration with pronounced diffusion anisotropy, whereas helium passively aggregates in response. While the conventional mixing rule underestimates mutual diffusion coefficients by neglecting velocity cross-correlations,the assumption of an ideal thermodynamic factor(Q = 1) overestimates them due to unaccounted non-ideal thermodynamic effects—both particularly pronounced in strongly phase-separated regimes. Notably, hydrogen's dual role, anisotropic diffusion and bond stabilization via helium doping, modulates demixing kinetics. Large-scale simulations(216,000 atoms) propose novel phase-separation paradigms, such as “hydrogen bubble/wisp” formation, challenging the classical “helium rain” scenario, striving to bridge atomic-scale dynamics to planetary-scale phase evolution.展开更多

Second language(L2)motivation has been a topic which receives intensive attention.However,the peer effect on L2 motivation is insufficiently researched,although it is considered a crucial factor which may significantl...Second language(L2)motivation has been a topic which receives intensive attention.However,the peer effect on L2 motivation is insufficiently researched,although it is considered a crucial factor which may significantly mediate learners’L2 motivation.Hence,the current study adopted Dörnyei’s L2 Motivational Self System(L2MSS)as a theoretical framework and investigated in which specific aspects peers might affect the learners’L2 motivation and whether such effect was long-lasting.The research was designed as a small-scale qualitative study which was located in a language-focused experimental class project in China.Ten participants were recruited and individual interviews were conducted.The results demonstrated that,first,peers could remarkably influence the L2 motivation possessed by the students in the experimental class since they tended to create a clearer ideal L2 self and a more powerful ought-to L2 self.Second,although they had both positive and negative views towards the curriculum,a motivated peer climate could alleviate the pressure caused by the curriculum and reinforce positive attitudes.Third,such peer effect was not long-lasting.Based on the research results,pedagogical implications were proposed in terms of establishing a positive peer group and adjusting the emphasis of the curriculum.展开更多

This review outlines the basic concepts and recent developments of TENG‐driven SPSs, focusing on strategies for energy harvesting, power management, and system integration. It highlights structural optimization and performance enhancement under typical highentropy scenarios and analyzes key challenges in energy conversion, power regulation, and load management. Finally, the potential applications of TENG‐driven SPSs are discussed in emerging smart fields such as infrastructure monitoring, lowaltitude economy, mobile intelligent devices, and ocean sensing networks.

文摘Flexible and wearable electronics are attracting surging attention due to their potential applications in human health monitoring and precision therapies.Safety hazards including strong magnetic field and electric leakage are big risk factors for human health.It remains challenging to develop self‐powered and wearable safety hazard sensors that could not only be able to monitor human motions but also have functions for detecting potential hazards.In this work,we fabricated a self‐powered,shapeable,and wearable magnetic triboelectric nanogenerator(MTENG)based on ferrofluid,Ecoflex,and carbonized silk fabric that possessed effective hazard prevention and biomechanical motion sensing ability.A peak open‐circuit voltage of 0.7 V and short‐circuit current of 10μA m^(−2)can be achieved when magnetic field is changed between 3.5 and 37.1 mT.As a component of triboelectric layer of the MTENG,ferrofluid can substantially extend the range of its sensing capabilities to many hazardous cues such as dangerous magnetic field.Furtherly,the developed multifunctional and self‐powered sensor can be used to monitor human activities such as drinking water and bending finger.This effort opens up a new design opportunity for hazard avoidance wearable electronics and self‐powered sensors.

文摘Convolutional neural network(CNN)with the encoder-decoder structure is popular in medical image segmentation due to its excellent local feature extraction ability but it faces limitations in capturing the global feature.The transformer can extract the global information well but adapting it to small medical datasets is challenging and its computational complexity can be heavy.In this work,a serial and parallel network is proposed for the accurate 3D medical image segmentation by combining CNN and transformer and promoting feature interactions across various semantic levels.The core components of the proposed method include the cross window self-attention based transformer(CWST)and multi-scale local enhanced(MLE)modules.The CWST module enhances the global context understanding by partitioning 3D images into non-overlapping windows and calculating sparse global attention between windows.The MLE module selectively fuses features by computing the voxel attention between different branch features,and uses convolution to strengthen the dense local information.The experiments on the prostate,atrium,and pancreas MR/CT image datasets consistently demonstrate the advantage of the proposed method over six popular segmentation models in both qualitative evaluation and quantitative indexes such as dice similarity coefficient,Intersection over Union,95%Hausdorff distance and average symmetric surface distance.

文摘The dynamics of phase separation in H–He binary systems within gas giants such as Jupiter and Saturn exhibit remarkable complexity, yet lack systematic investigation. Through large-scale machine-learning-accelerated molecular dynamics simulations spanning broad temperature-pressure-composition(2000–10000 K, 1–7 Mbar,pure H to pure He) regimes, we systematically determine self and mutual diffusion coefficients in H–He systems and establish a six-dimensional framework correlating temperature, pressure, helium abundance, phase separation degree, diffusion coefficients, and anisotropy. Key findings reveal that hydrogen exhibits active directional migration with pronounced diffusion anisotropy, whereas helium passively aggregates in response. While the conventional mixing rule underestimates mutual diffusion coefficients by neglecting velocity cross-correlations,the assumption of an ideal thermodynamic factor(Q = 1) overestimates them due to unaccounted non-ideal thermodynamic effects—both particularly pronounced in strongly phase-separated regimes. Notably, hydrogen's dual role, anisotropic diffusion and bond stabilization via helium doping, modulates demixing kinetics. Large-scale simulations(216,000 atoms) propose novel phase-separation paradigms, such as “hydrogen bubble/wisp” formation, challenging the classical “helium rain” scenario, striving to bridge atomic-scale dynamics to planetary-scale phase evolution.

文摘The English“T” is widely held as a well-behaved Kaplanian indexical that has a directly-referential content and a character which imples immunity to self misidentification.In this paper I present uses of“T”outside attitudal contexts that are not directly referential yet exhibit immunity to self misidentification.They include uses of“I”for simulation and for counterfactual self portrait.I argue that they(i)challenge the non-shiftability and the rigidity arguments for the direct reference view,and(1)require a revision of the character of“T”to reflect the sensitivity of its content to the perspective from which the speaker identifies herself.

文摘Second language(L2)motivation has been a topic which receives intensive attention.However,the peer effect on L2 motivation is insufficiently researched,although it is considered a crucial factor which may significantly mediate learners’L2 motivation.Hence,the current study adopted Dörnyei’s L2 Motivational Self System(L2MSS)as a theoretical framework and investigated in which specific aspects peers might affect the learners’L2 motivation and whether such effect was long-lasting.The research was designed as a small-scale qualitative study which was located in a language-focused experimental class project in China.Ten participants were recruited and individual interviews were conducted.The results demonstrated that,first,peers could remarkably influence the L2 motivation possessed by the students in the experimental class since they tended to create a clearer ideal L2 self and a more powerful ought-to L2 self.Second,although they had both positive and negative views towards the curriculum,a motivated peer climate could alleviate the pressure caused by the curriculum and reinforce positive attitudes.Third,such peer effect was not long-lasting.Based on the research results,pedagogical implications were proposed in terms of establishing a positive peer group and adjusting the emphasis of the curriculum.
