The use of role models for learning and publicity is widespread in China.By comparing four sets of primary school textbooks complied and published by People’s Education Press between 1999 and 2005,this study reveals ...The use of role models for learning and publicity is widespread in China.By comparing four sets of primary school textbooks complied and published by People’s Education Press between 1999 and 2005,this study reveals the similarities and differences between these textbooks with regard to the positive role models covered and the virtues conveyed.The major role models in both versions of the textbooks can be characterized as representing four main types of persons:children,Han Chinese,males,and modern people.However,the occupations of these role models are more diverse in the new textbooks,and the more recent editions place more emphasis on moral values such as“protecting the environment,”“loving peace,”and“promoting democratic cooperation.”The implications of the findings and the potential problems arising in the textbooks are discussed at the end,particularly noting the changing mode of regulation with regard to the individual-collective relationship.展开更多

Cypermethrin induced atypia in the ovary and uterus, and decreased the ovulation sites and the number of embryos. Cypermethrin-induced oxidative stress during pregnancy, decreased the parturition rate as well as the number and weight of offspring and increased the incidence of morphological malformations in the offspring. In order to study the biol...The cytosolic form of selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase detoxifies both hydrogen and lipid peroxides and therefore represents a major component of the cellular anti-oxidant defenses. In order to study the biological role of this enzyme, we generated an expression construct in a retroviral vector, which when introduced into immortalized human T-cells, resulted in significant increases in the activity of this important enzyme. This effect is stable over extended maintenance in culture. The anti-oxidant defenses in these same cells are also shown to be attenuated hy chemically reducing cellular glutathione levels. Collectively, the abllity to both increase and decrease the anti-oxidant defenses in human T cells results in a useful model system for the study of oxidative stress and signaling in this cell type展开更多

Based on the analysis of manufacturing capacity and manufacturing equipment role, the three-stage manufacturing equipment support model is proposed. With this model, the manufacturing task can be decomposed into several manufacturing equipment roles, and the ex- pended manufacturing capacity involved in the manufacturing equipment role can be matched with the practical manufacturing capacity of the enterprise. Literature presents unequivocal evidence of improved outcomes when patients are treated in a stroke unit by...<strong>Background: </strong>Management of stroke patients requires a multidisciplinary approach. Literature presents unequivocal evidence of improved outcomes when patients are treated in a stroke unit by multi-disciplinary teams made up of medical doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Among the multidisciplinary team members, physiotherapists and nurses are the largest professional workforce working with both stroke patients and survivors. This study, therefore, aims at investigating the role of nurses and physiotherapists in the management of stroke patients at the Adult University Teaching Hospital. <strong>Methodology:</strong> This study shall utilize a convergent parallel mixed method design where both quantitative and qualitative data will be collected at the same time resulting in two data sets which will eventually be merged at the point of discussion. The quantitative component shall utilize an analytical cross-sectional approach while the qualitative component shall use a qualitative case study approach. The study will be conducted at the Adult University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka. Data will be collected from all the 287 nurses and 37 physiotherapists working in the Emergency Department, Medical Wards, Adult Intensive Care Unit and the Department of Physiotherapy. Quantitative data will be analyzed using Statistical Package for social sciences. Descriptive statistics shall be computed on the role of nurses and physiotherapists in stroke care. In addition, chi-square and fisher’s exact tests will be used in the test for associations between variables while binary logistic regression will be used in identifying predictors of the various roles played by nurses and physiotherapists in the management of stroke patients. Qualitative data will be analyzed using thematic analysis in order to generate new concepts and a substantive model of care for stroke patients. <strong>Conclusion: </strong>Despite research evidence of improved outcomes when stroke patients are managed by a multi-disciplinary team, data on the role of different members of the multidisciplinary care team in stroke management is almost non-existent from the Zambia context. It is therefore hoped that information obtained from this study will be used as a basis for recommending the streamlined role of the nurse and physiotherapist in both acute care and rehabilitation.展开更多

Much of the published literature on design patterns addresses this problem—pattern association;however, there is no systematic and practical way that shows how to integrate those individual solutions together. We propose a compositional model based on design patterns by abstracting their behavioral model using role modeling constructs. This approach describes how to transform a design pattern into a role model that can be used to assemble a software application. The role model captures the behavioral relationship between participant components in the design pattern. Our approach offers a complete practical design and implementation strategies, adapted from DCI (Data, Context, and Interaction) architecture. We demonstrate our technique by presenting a simple case study complete with design and implementation code. We also present a simple to follow process that provides guidelines of what to do and how to do it.展开更多
