Designing Right-Turn Vehicle Box as a Supplemental Treatment to Eliminate Conflicts with Pedestrians and Bicycles

Field observations illustrated that, right-turn vehicles stopped at various positions when proceeding within the right-turn lanes, while some of them trespassed on the crosswalks with multiple stops. In this case, pedestrians and bikes (ped/bike) are encountered unsmooth and hazardous crossings when right-turn vehicles encroaching their lanes. Meanwhile, this also causes conflicts between right-turn and through vehicles at the crossing street. To better protect ped/bike at crossings with right-turn vehicles, this paper proposes a concept of “right-turn vehicle box” (RTVB) as a supplemental treatment within right-turn lanes. Sight distance, geometric conditions, and behaviors of vehicles and ped/bike are key factors to consider so as to set up the criteria and to design the suitable treatment. A case study was conducted at an intersection pair in Houston, USA to shape the idea of RTVB, together with driving simulator tests under relevant scenarios. The preliminary crosscheck examination shows that the right-turn vehicle box could possibly provide ped/ bike with smoother and safer crossings. In the interim, the safety and efficiency of right-turn operations were also improved. To further validate the effects, implementation studies should be conducted before the RTVB can make its debut in practice. Future works will focus on the complete warrants and design details of this treatment. Moreover, the concept of “vehicle box” could also be transplanted to other places where turning movement(s) needs assistance or improvements. 展开更多

Traffic at urban intersections frequently encounters unexpected obstructions,resulting in congestion due to uncooperative and priority-based driving behavior.This paper presents an optimal right-turn coordination system for Connected and Automated Vehicles(CAVs)at single-lane intersections,particularly in the context of left-hand side driving on roads.The goal is to facilitate smooth right turns for certain vehicles without creating bottlenecks.We consider that all approaching vehicles share relevant information through vehicular communications.The Intersection Coordination Unit(ICU)processes this information and communicates the optimal crossing or turning times to the vehicles.The primary objective of this coordination is to minimize overall traffic delays,which also helps improve the fuel consumption of vehicles.By considering information from upcoming vehicles at the intersection,the coordination system solves an optimization problem to determine the best timing for executing right turns,ultimately minimizing the total delay for all vehicles.The proposed coordination system is evaluated at a typical urban intersection,and its performance is compared to traditional traffic systems.Numerical simulation results indicate that the proposed coordination system significantly enhances the average traffic speed and fuel consumption compared to the traditional traffic system in various scenarios. 展开更多

Due to the fact that there is no protected signal phase for right turns at most signalized intersections, the conflict between pedestrians and right-turning vehicles is one of the most common conflict types for pedestrians. A pedestrian safety analysis of the common right-turn mode at four-phase signalized intersections is presented. Relative risk is used as a measure of the effect of behaviors. The analysis mainly includes five pedestrian factors that affect the conflict process between pedestrians and right-turning vehicles. Pedestrians tend to have a higher risk of being involved in conflicts in the following six situations: crossing with others, running over the crossing, entering the intersection, being near the exit lane, crossing in the middle or at the end of a green light when the right-turn lane is shared, crossing at the beginning of a green light or red period when the right-turn lane is exclusive. It is easier for pedestrians to get priority when crossing the street in the following situations: running over a crossing, entering the intersection, being near the entrance lane, and not using the crosswalk. However, pedestrians are more inclined to yield to right-turning vehicles when pedestrians are crossing in the middle of the green light time. Some measures to alleviate the conflict are put forward according to the conclusion. Video observations also indicate that a clear pedestrian waiting area must be marked for both pedestrian safety and right-turning vehicle efficiency at major flat intersections, particularly when the arms cover the lateral dividing strips. 展开更多

This study presents an investigation on the fatigue analysis of four types of details on orthotropic steel decks(OSDs)for a cable-stayed super-wide steel box girder bridge based on finite-element analysis(FEA)with vehicle transverse distribution model(VTDM).A high-fidelity 3D FE model verified by the static load test is established to satisfy the fatigue analysis accuracy.The stress behavior of super-wide steel box girders under the vehicle load at different lane locations is investigated.Then,considering the effect of VTDM,the fatigue life analysis of four typical details is performed using the Miner cumulative damage rule.The results show that the vehicle transverse location has a great influence on the stress behavior of details with sharp influence surface,and the stress ranges in the outermost lane are larger than those in other lanes,indicating that the details of OSD in the outermost lane are prone to fatigue.The fatigue life analysis indicates that the diaphragm cutout is more prone to fatigue than other details,which should be carefully treated in bridge maintenance. 展开更多

In this study, a dynamic modeling method for foil-like underwater vehicles is introduced and experimentally verified in different sea tests of the Hadal ARV. The dumping force of a foil-like underwater vehicle is sensitive to swing motion. Some foil-like underwater vehicles swing periodically when performing a free-fall dive task in experiments. Models using conventional modeling methods yield solutions with asymptotic stability, which cannot simulate the self-sustained swing motion. By improving the ridge regression optimization algorithm, a grey-box modeling method based on 378 viscous drag coefficients using the Taylor series expansion is proposed in this study. The method is optimized for over-fitting and convergence problems caused by large parameter matrices. Instead of the PMM test data, the unsteady computational fluid dynamics calculation results are used in modeling. The obtained model can better simulate the swing motion of the underwater vehicle. Simulation and experimental results show a good consistency in free-fall tests during sea trials, as well as a prediction of the dive speed in the swing state. 展开更多

[目的]车轮多边形化是地铁车辆车轮使用一定时间后会普遍出现的现象,其对列车的安全运行有着显著的负面影响。因此,有必要研究车轮多边形磨耗对地铁车辆动力学性能的影响。[方法]利用SIMPACK软件,建立了列车以80 km/h的运行速度通过曲线线路的车辆-轨道系统动力学模型。选取脱轨系数、轮重减载率和轴箱垂向振动加速度3个指标作为动力学控制指标,根据GB/T 5599—2019、IEC 61373:2010中的安全限值标准,分析了不同阶次下车轮多边形磨耗的波深限度值。[结果及结论]随着车轮多边形阶次的增加,其波深限度值逐渐减小。在脱轨安全性的评定当中,应以脱轨系数作为主要依据,轮重减载率只能作为辅助性评判标准。在6~10阶时,轴箱垂向振动加速度与脱轨系数得到的波深限度值非常接近。当车轮多边形的阶次为6阶时,多边形的波深限度值为0.48 mm;而当车轮多边形的阶次为10阶时,多边形的波深限度值为0.19 mm。 展开更多

DDQN-Based 3D Path Planning Algorithm for UAVs in Dynamic Dense Obstacle Environments

Online three-dimensional(3D)path planning in dynamic environments is a fundamental problem for achieving autonomous navigation of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).However,existing methods struggle to model traversable dynamic gaps,resulting in conservative and suboptimal trajectories.To address these challenges,this paper proposes a hierarchical reinforcement learning(RL)framework that integrates global path guidance,local trajectory generation,predictive safety evaluation,and neural network-based decision-making.Specifically,the global planner provides long-term navigation guidance,and the local module then utilizes an improved 3D dynamic window approach(DWA)to generate dynamically feasible candidate trajectories.To enhance safety in dense dynamic scenarios,the algorithm introduces a predictive axis-aligned bounding box(AABB)strategy to model the future occupancy of obstacles,combined with convex hull verification for efficient trajectory safety assessment.Furthermore,a double deep Q-network(DDQN)is employed with structured feature encoding,enabling the neural network to reliably select the optimal trajectory from the candidate set,thereby improving robustness and generalization.Comparative experiments conducted in a high-fidelity simulation environment show that the algorithm outperforms existing algorithms,reducing the average number of collisions to 0.2 while shortening the average task completion time by approximately 15%,and achieving a success rate of 97%. 展开更多

本文针对地铁B型车辆轴箱弹簧的可靠性问题,以某线路12列车1152个弹簧为研究对象,以FC1级芯轴断裂失效率不超过0.0001 FPKM为目标,提出一种集成RAMS、故障树分析(FTA)与全生命周期成本(LCC)的系统分析方法。通过建立RAMS指标模型,识别出... 本文针对地铁B型车辆轴箱弹簧的可靠性问题,以某线路12列车1152个弹簧为研究对象,以FC1级芯轴断裂失效率不超过0.0001 FPKM为目标,提出一种集成RAMS、故障树分析(FTA)与全生命周期成本(LCC)的系统分析方法。通过建立RAMS指标模型,识别出8个最小割集,确定芯轴设计缺陷及高刚度材料缺陷为高风险因素;LCC分析表明,橡胶部件是主导失效部件,其分配失效率达0.00689 FPKM。芯轴的材料与结构缺陷是导致其失效的关键因素,据此提出基于蠕变量的状态维护策略,在保证可靠性的同时降低维护成本。该方法实现了安全性与经济性的协同优化,适用于轨道交通关键部件及其他复杂工程系统的可靠性设计与成本管控。 展开更多

地铁车辆的横向平稳性指标是一个至关重要的参数,它直接关系到乘客的舒适体验。横向平稳性受到众多因素的影响,包括车辆结构、轨道条件和运行速度等。在实际运营中,绍兴地铁1号线车辆在区段1和区段2高速(90~100 km/h)运行时,均出现了平... 地铁车辆的横向平稳性指标是一个至关重要的参数,它直接关系到乘客的舒适体验。横向平稳性受到众多因素的影响,包括车辆结构、轨道条件和运行速度等。在实际运营中,绍兴地铁1号线车辆在区段1和区段2高速(90~100 km/h)运行时,均出现了平稳性指标超出规定合格区间的问题,尤其是区段1的问题更为严重。文章针对影响横向平稳性的车辆悬挂参数进行了研究,通过一系列横向平稳性试验验证了转向架轴箱转臂节点、二系横向减振器以及二系横向止挡3个部件对地铁车辆横向平稳性的影响。试验结果表明,转向架轴箱转臂节点对地铁车辆的横向平稳性有着显著的影响,适当增加轴箱转臂节点刚度是提升车辆横向平稳性的有效措施。同时适当调整横向减振器和横向止挡的参数,可以进一步优化车辆的横向平稳性。研究结果为绍兴地铁1号线车辆横向平稳性的优化提升提供了参考依据,有助于改善乘客的乘坐体验。 展开更多

大跨度高速铁路混合组合梁斜拉桥设计研究

研究目的:深江铁路跨鸡鸦水道主桥根据通航防洪要求,主跨408 m跨越鸡鸦水道,其搭载双线时速250 km高速铁路。综合考虑建设条件及跨度,斜拉桥是最为合理桥型。本文针对主跨408 m高速铁路斜拉桥展开系统研究,寻找结构受力、施工组织、行... 研究目的:深江铁路跨鸡鸦水道主桥根据通航防洪要求,主跨408 m跨越鸡鸦水道,其搭载双线时速250 km高速铁路。综合考虑建设条件及跨度,斜拉桥是最为合理桥型。本文针对主跨408 m高速铁路斜拉桥展开系统研究,寻找结构受力、施工组织、行车舒适性及工程经济性之间最佳平衡点,旨在为同类型大跨度高铁桥梁的设计实践提供借鉴。研究结论:(1)斜拉桥采用混凝土梁边跨、钢混组合梁主跨的双边箱混合组合梁结构,利用边跨混凝土梁自重压重效应增强主跨锚固刚度,同时消除边墩、辅助墩支座负反力,混凝土梁边跨与主塔可同步施工,中跨组合梁采用悬拼施工,缩短工期的同时,大幅降低用钢量;(2)斜拉桥约束体系采用“可剪断固定支座+黏滞阻尼器”体系,提升了运营阶段轨道结构稳定性,并保证了结构的抗震性能;(3)静动力分析表明,结构在ZK活载下挠度、梁端转角及横向位移均满足规范要求,抗风抗震性能优异,车桥耦合振动验证了250 km/h设计速度下的行车安全与舒适性;(4)本文所述混合组合梁斜拉桥设计可为相近跨度铁路桥提供可借鉴的设计模式。 展开更多

为提升某满足GB 26512—2011实车试验要求的商用车驾驶室的安全性,使其达到GB 26512—2021的要求,针对该驾驶室在仿真中出现的正面撞击试验纵梁峰值力过大、A柱撞击试验吸能不足、侧面20°撞击试验压溃严重等问题,进行Box-Behnken... 为提升某满足GB 26512—2011实车试验要求的商用车驾驶室的安全性,使其达到GB 26512—2021的要求,针对该驾驶室在仿真中出现的正面撞击试验纵梁峰值力过大、A柱撞击试验吸能不足、侧面20°撞击试验压溃严重等问题,进行Box-Behnken试验设计和序列二次优化(SQP)算法改进,并通过设置弯梁、填充发泡聚丙烯(EPP)进行优化。结果表明,优化后纵梁峰值力由92.3 kN降至72.4 kN,结构吸能提高36.9%,驾驶员生存空间充足,满足新标准要求,驾驶室安全性显著提升。 展开更多
