The ethnic landscape of Urumqi has undergone significant changes since the 1980s, which has fostered greater ethnic diversity. However, little is known about the changing patterns of spatial segregation among ethnic groups. By using the Urumqi census data from 1982 to 2010, this study examines the level of residential segregation of Uighur from Hart and the level of residential segregation of Kazak, Hui, Mongolia and other ethnic minority groups from the majority Han and Uygur population by the indices of dissimilarity and exposure. Then it assesses a regression between residential segregation and the percentage of the ethnic groups. Finally, it finds out whether there exists a regression between residential segregation and the percentage of the ethnic groups. The result reveals that Kazak population is the most segregated group from Han and Uygur, although the level of segregation has declined from 1982 to 2010. Uighur people experienced lower level of segregation from Han between 1982 and 2000, but has gradually increased, particularly from 2000 to 2010; this unexpected change of the segregation for Uighur group might be associated with 7.5 Events. The findings of the study show that the growth of the Han population is negatively associated with segregation of the ethnic groups in a district, and that the association between the percentage of population and segregation was uniform for Uighur, Hui and Kazak: the higher percentage of an ethnic group in a district, the lower level of segregation. 展开更多

Vehicle electrification,an important method for reducing carbon emissions from road transport, has been promoted globally. In this study,we analyze how individuals adapt to this transition in transportation and its subsequent impact on urban structure.Considering the varying travel costs associated with electric and fuel vehicles,we analyze the dynamic choices of households concerning house locations and vehicle types in a two-dimensional monocentric city.A spatial equilibrium is developed to model the interactions between urban density, vehicle age and vehicle type.An agent-based microeconomic residential choice model dynamically coupled with a house rent market is developed to analyze household choices of home locations and vehicle energy types, considering vehicle ages and competition for public charging piles.Key findings from our proposed models show that the proportion of electric vehicles(EVs)peaks at over 50%by the end of the first scrappage period, accompanied by more than a 40%increase in commuting distance and time compared to the scenario with only fuel vehicles.Simulation experiments on a theoretical grid indicate that heterogeneity-induced residential segregation can lead to urban sprawl and congestion.Furthermore, households with EVs tend to be located farther from the city center, and an increase in EV ownership contributes to urban expansion. Our study provides insights into how individuals adapt to EV transitions and the resulting impacts on home locations and land use changes. It offers a novel perspective on the dynamic interactions between EV adoption and urban development. 展开更多

After analyzing the current characteristics and problems of residential space in small towns in the Pearl River Delta Region(PRDR), combined with the New Urbanism theory and community construction methods, this paper puts forward a restructuring strategy of residential space, which includes the reorganization of residential space using the "community – residential quarter – neighborhood" model, the reform of the community management mode based on the "transformation from village council to resident committee," the restructuring of the multi-level community service system to meet the diversified social needs, and the construction of a mixed community addressing the issue of residential segregation and the aim to achieve community integration. 展开更多
