Remolded soils have a wide spectrum of liquid limits ranging from 25% to 412%. It is found that the remolded undrained strength is a function of water content and liquid limit. Furthermore, a simple index designated as normalized water content w * is introduced for normalizing remolded undrained strength for various soils. The normalized water content w * is the ratio of water content to liquid limit. The relationship between the remolded undrained strength and the normalized water content can be expressed by a simple equation. The new simple equation is not only valuable theoretically for helping in assessing the in situ mechanical behavior, but also useful to ocean engineering practice.展开更多

Burland introduced void index for normalizing the compression curves of ...Evaluating the impacts of soil structure on mechanical behavior for natural sedimentary clays is an important issue in geotechnical engineering. Burland introduced void index for normalizing the compression curves of various remolded and reconstituted clays to obtain the intrinsic compression line, which provides a reference framework to assess the in-situ compression behavior. However, it does not quantitatively account for the effects of initial water content on compressive behavior of remolded and reconstituted clays and the initial water contents of clays are not always limited to 1.0 - 1.5 times the liquid limits defined by Burland. A modification based on collected tests data was presented on the expressions of ?and ?defined by Burland. Extensive oedometer test data were also collected on various remolded and reconstituted soils with distinct liquid limits and initial water contents to verify the validity of modified expressions. The self-assembly of biomolecules with chiral centers in nature has garnered significant attention due to its biomedical potential.However,how single chiral center epimerization influences molecular co-assembly remain...The self-assembly of biomolecules with chiral centers in nature has garnered significant attention due to its biomedical potential.However,how single chiral center epimerization influences molecular co-assembly remains unclear.This study explored natural epimers 18α-glycyrrhizic acid(α-GA)and 18β-glycyrrhizic acid(β-GA),and their co-assembly behaviors with active ingredients pseudoephedrine(PSE),amygdalin(AMY),and magnesium ion(Mg^(2+))of ma-xing-shi-gan-tang(MXSGT).Interestingly,due to hydrogen bonds and coordination bonds,β-GA co-assembled with PSE,AMY,and Mg^(2+)to form nanoparticles in a symmetric staggered manner(β-Quad),appearing as a hydrogel;whileα-GA co-assembled with PSE,AMY,and Mg^(2+)to form irregular blocks in a parallel manner(α-Quad),appearing as a precipitation.The distinct assembly mechanism led to variations in microscopic morphology,further resulting inβ-Quad’s superior cellular uptake efficiency and anti-inflammatory activity compared withα-Quad.Crucially,β-Quad’s pH sensitivity and excellent material properties protected active ingredients from gastric acid degradation and enabled controlled release in intestinal,enhancing oral bioavailability.Additionally,β-Quad remolded inflammatory microenvironment via PI3K/Akt/NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways.This work explored the“Butterfly Effect”induced by single chiral center epimerization during the co-assembly process for the first time,providing a natural and effective solution for oral drug delivery systems.展开更多
To investigate the deformation properties of remolded loess subgrade under long-term cyclic dynamic loading,remolded loess specimens compacted via vertical vibration compaction method were produced and some factors in...To investigate the deformation properties of remolded loess subgrade under long-term cyclic dynamic loading,remolded loess specimens compacted via vertical vibration compaction method were produced and some factors influencing elastic strain and cumulative plastic strain,which include the number of vibration cycles,depth,and water content,have been investigated.A prediction model for cumulative plastic deformation was established.In addition,the collapsible deformation properties of remolded loess were investigated.Results indicate that the elastic strain and plastic strain are decreased with increasing vibration cycles and depth and finally tend to be stable when the number of vibration cycles is more than 2000 and the depth exceeds 2.5 m.The elastic strain and cumulative plastic strain of compacted loess are increased by 7.2%and 13.0%,respectively,when the water content increases by 1.0%.The cumulative plastic deformation of remolded loess follows a logarithmic distribution.The elastic deformation and cumulative plastic deformation of loess subgrade are far less than the demands for elastic deformation and post-construction settlement of subgrade.As the compaction coefficient and water content are increased by 1.0%,the collapsibility coefficient of compacted loess is decreased by an average of 13.7%and 14.5%.Such investigations can prevent subgrade diseases and ensure the safety of subgrade filled with loess soils.展开更多
