The objective of this paper is to comprehensively review the research progress of bio-oil properties and hot rejuvenation behavior and mechanism to aged asphalt.The preparation process,composition characteristics of bio-oils and their component correspondence with petroleum asphalt were compared.The diffusion and fusion effects of various bio-oils in aged asphalt were introduced.Bio-oil cannot be used as a direct alternative of petroleum asphalt,but it has the potential to effectively rejuvenate aged asphalt binders due to the component similarity with petroleum asphalt and good diffusion properties.For the asphalt rejuvenation,the functionalization treatment methods of bio-oil were discussed such as purification,composition modification and component conversion.The active groups and derivatives in bio-oil can be converted into the missing components of the aged binder through phenolate,grafting,polycondensation,resinifying,but the conversion process and mechanism are still unclear.From the perspectives of diffusion behavior,components regulation,dissolving asphaltene and micro-rejuvenation effect,the rejuvenation behavior and mechanism of bio-oil on aged asphalt were elaborated,and the effects of various types of bio-oil and aged asphalt on rejuvenation behavior were analyzed.The preparation process and dosage of bio-rejuvenator were summarized.The rejuvenation effects of bio-oil on aged asphalt were comprehensively investigated from the aspects of high and low temperature performances,rheological properties,microstructure and chemical composition of bio-rejuvenated asphalt binders.Finally,the limitations of bio-oil used as asphalt rejuvenators were discussed,and future research directions were prospected,which can provide reference and theoretical basis for the development of high-performance bio-oil rejuvenating agents and the engineering application of bio-oil to improve the properties of aged asphalt materials. 展开更多

Influence of Rejuvenation Heat Treatment on Creep Property for Nickel-Based Directionally Solidified Superalloy

Creep is one of the most typical failure modes for the turbine blades of an aero-engine.The microstructure of the turbine blades after long-term service can be adjusted by rejuvenation heat treatment(RHT)to restore its creep properties.In this work,a series of RHT experiments were carried out on a directionally solidified(DS)nickel-based superalloy under different solution temperatures and primary aging temperatures based on the standard heat treatment(SHT)process parameters to investigate the mechanism of temperature influence on DS's microstructure after RHT.It is indicated that a more uniform microstructure can be obtained under higher solution temperatures and lower primary aging temperatures compared to the SHT process.Furthermore,by employing the image processing methods to quantify microstructural parameters,a comprehensive indicator parameter for the RHT effect(marked as Prej)was proposed to characterize the effects of RHT on DS superalloy's microstructure and creep property combined with the entropy weight method.Based on this,a regression model to describe the relationship between RHT process parameters and Prej was constructed by using the response surface methodology(RSM).It is revealed that the optimal solution temperature and primary aging temperature for this DS superalloy are 1283°C and 1095°C,respectively.Then the conclusion was validated through complete creep experiments on the DS superalloy,which showed the creep life after RHT reaches 95.5%of the SHT specimen,and the total life has increased by 20.6%. 展开更多

A comprehensive state-of-art review on the use of rejuvenators in asphalt pavement

The utilization of reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP)in asphalt mixtures has gained momentum in recent years,yet concerns persist regarding the long-term performance and binder properties of high RAP content mixtures.To overcome these challenges,rejuvenators have emerged as a promising solution to enhance the properties of aged asphalt binders and improve the overall performance of asphalt mixtures.This paper provides a comprehensive state-of-the-art review of rejuvenator technology and its potential to enhance the performance and sustainability of asphalt pavements.Rejuvenators are additives used to restore the properties of aged asphalt binders,particularly when incorporating high percentages of RAP.The performance of these additives varies based on their origin,and different methods can be used to analyze the rejuvenation process.Since proper specifications for rejuvenators are not available,blending charts are used to determine the optimum dosage of rejuvenators.However,proper blending must be achieved to maximize results and reduce the effect of black rock.Laboratory tests and some field performance studies on rejuvenated aged asphalt binders and RAP mixtures have shown improved or similar performance compared to virgin materials.Additionally,the use of rejuvenators has been observed to reduce construction costs,suggesting that this is a cost-effective technology for asphalt pavements.While rejuvenators show promise in improving the performance of pavements with recycled materials,challenges remain regarding optimization,long-term durability,and environmental effects.This review paper also identifies key areas for future research,including life-cycle cost analyses,comprehensive environmental impact assessments,and long-term field performance monitoring. 展开更多

Annealing has been a popular method to improve the soft magnetism of metallic glasses (MGs), which however usually makes MGs brittle and difficult to process. Here, it is demonstrated that the embrittled Fe-based MG can be reductilized and the coercivity can be further lowered through the rejuvenation of memory effect. The synchronous improvement in the plasticity and soft magnetic properties is attributed to the combination effects of releasing much residual stress, decreasing the magnetic anisotropy, and homogenizing the glasses during the rejuvenation process. The current work opens a new perspective to improve the properties of MGs by utilizing the memory effect and holds promising commercial application potential. 展开更多

The effects of rejuvenation heat treatment(RHT)on the serrated flow behavior and fracture mode of nickel-based superalloys(R26)were investigated by tensile tests and microstructural characterization.The serrated flow activation energies were determined to be 41−72 and 64−81 kJ/mol before and after RHT,respectively.Dynamic strain aging in the alloy is caused by the diffusion of carbon atoms into dislocation channels in the nickel matrix.Before RHT,carbides are concentrated at the grain boundaries.Cracks initiate from these carbides and propagate along the grain boundaries.RHT dissolves carbides at grain boundaries,transferring crack initiation to the precipitated phase group in the grains.RHT increases carbon atom concentration in the nickel matrix,enhancing dynamic strain aging and serrated flow behavior. 展开更多

The effects of deep cryogenic-cycling treatment(DCT)on the mechanical properties,soft magnetic properties,and atomic scale structure of the Fe_(73.5)Si_(13.5)B_(9)Nb_(3)Cu_(1)amorphous nanocrystalline alloy were investigated.The DCT samples were obtained by subjecting the as-annealed samples to a thermal cycling process between the temperature of the supercooled liquid zone and the temperature of liquid nitrogen.Through flat plate bending testing,hardness measurements,and nanoindentation experiment,it is found that the bending toughness of the DCT samples is improved and the soft magnetic properties are also slightly enhanced.These are attributed to the rejuvenation behavior of the DCT samples,which demonstrate a higher enthalpy of relaxation.Therefore,DCT is an effective method to enhance the bending toughness of Fe-based amorphous nanocrystalline alloys without degrading the soft magnetic properties. 展开更多

Healthy aging is a common goal for humanity and society,and one key to achieving it is the rejuvenation of senescent resident stem cells and empowerment of aging organ regeneration.However,the mechanistic understandings of stem cell senescence and the potential strategies to counteract it remain elusive.Here,we reveal that the aging bone microenvironment impairs the Golgi apparatus thus diminishing mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)function and regeneration.Interestingly,replenishment of cell aggregates-derived extracellular vesicles(CA-EVs)rescues Golgi dysfunction and empowers senescent MSCs through the Golgi regulatory protein Syntaxin 5.Importantly,in vivo administration of CA-EVs significantly enhanced the bone defect repair rate and improved bone mass in aging mice,suggesting their therapeutic value for treating age-related osteoporosis and promoting bone regeneration.Collectively,our findings provide insights into Golgi regulation in stem cell senescence and bone aging,which further highlight CA-EVs as a potential rejuvenative approach for aging bone regeneration. 展开更多

By summarizing the characteristics of the global energy structure and China’s energy resource endowment, this study analyzes the historical context and opportunities for China to build an “energy powerhouse”, and proposes pathways and measures for its realization. It is indicated that the energy resource endowment in China is characterized by abundant coal, limited oil and gas, and vast renewable potential, coupled with an energy consumption structure characterized by high coal consumption, low oil and gas consumption, and rapidly growing renewable energy use. The “whole-energy system” approach that integrates multi-energy complementarity, green development, stable supply, smart utilization and carbon neutrality is an effective solution to addressing energy transition and energy independence. To build an “energy powerhouse”, China can follow the approach of the steady and orderly low-carbon development of fossil fuels, the safe and scaled development of new energy, the integrated development of a carbon-neutral “whole-energy system”, and the shared development of the “Belt and Road” energy corridor. The construction of an “energy powerhouse” should follow a “three-phase” strategic pathway: from 2025 to 2030, achieving peak primary energy consumption and “carbon peaking”;from 2031 to 2050, energy production will achieve parity with consumption for the first time, striving for “energy independence”;and from 2051 to 2060, aiming for “carbon neutrality”, and establishing an “energy powerhouse”. BACKGROUND As one of the most common aesthetic surgical procedures carried out today,blepharoplasty should be in the repertoire of every plastic surgeon.The term blepharoplasty encompasses a wide range of techniques and options that must be tailored to the specific defect and patient one has to treat.A sound knowledge of the upper and lower eyelids’anatomy is essential for proper surgical execution.Trends have shifted towards more conservative methods(especially of the fat compartment)and sometimes in combination with augmentation techniques,helping to reach a rejuvenated appearance.AIM To present an overview of the surgical techniques considered for upper lid blepharoplasty and fat pad management,in addition to information on how a surgeon may approach the best treatment for his patient based on current publications in literature.METHODS We searched the literature published between 2013,to 2023 using Medline and Reference Citation Analysis.The database was searched using the keywords“upper blepharoplasty”AND“fat”.Papers without full text/abstracts and reviews were excluded.The search strategy followed the PRISMA.The American Society of Plastic Surgeons guidelines for Therapeutic Studies checklist was used to assess all articles.Two authors individually reviewed each article and rated them for importance and relevance to the topic.A consensus was sought and the most relevant studies.RESULTS After the application of the selection criteria used in our review,13 publications were found to address upper lid blepharoplasty specifically.Three of these studies were reviews and three were retrospective studies.Five publications were comparative studies and a further two were clinical trials.CONCLUSION The tendency of modern surgery is to be conservative,by removing adipose tissue only if strictly necessary and restoring the volume of the upper eyelid in a concept of beauty that espouses a"full"sight.There is no gold standard technique to achieve younger and enhanced eyelids.Long-term prospective comparative studies are fundamental in understanding which path is the best to follow. 展开更多

Inducing adventitious root(AR)formation in mature walnut species(Juglans L.)is challenging.However,the AR formation of mature trees can be improved by rejuvenation.In rejuvenated cuttings,exogenous indole-3-butyric acid(IBA)is essential for AR formation,and the underlying mechanism is still not well understood.Therefore,we utilized transcriptome sequencing to investigate the mechanism of IBA-induced AR formation.Our results revealed that,in comparison to the control group,IBA treatment(9 mmol·L^(-1))significantly increased the endogenous indole-3-acetic acid(IAA)content,leading to an enhanced rooting rate.We performed RNA sequencing to identify differentially expressed genes(DEGs)between the IBA-treated and control(CK)groups at 1,2,3,and 5 days after cutting(DAC).The results showed that,compared to the control cuttings,there were 1539,889,785,and 984 up-regulated genes and 2791,2936,3017,and 1752 down-regulated genes,at 1,2,3,and 5 DAC,respectively.Analysis of RNA-seq data revealed that G-type ATP-binding cassette 36/37(ABCG36/37)and ATP-binding cassette subfamily D 1(ABCD1),associated with IBA transport,were down-regulated in the rejuvenation cuttings.In contrast,PIN-FORMED(PIN)and PINOID(PID),associated with auxin efflux,were up-regulated.We identified 49 auxin/indole-3-acetic acid(AUX/IAA)-encoding genes,including IAA1,IAA3,IAA5,IAA6,IAA8,IAA11,IAA12,IAA19,and IAA20,which were up-regulated at 1-5 DAC in the rejuvenated cuttings.This study highlights that the overexpression of JrWOX5/11 in poplar significantly enhance AR growth,as evidenced by increased root length,surface area,volume,and quantity.Moreover,the co-expression network analysis involving JrWOX11 and JrWOX5 in walnut cuttings elucidates complex genetic interactions,underscoring their pivotal role in the formation of AR.Our data supported the following molecular mechanism of IBA-induced adventitious root formation.Firstly,IBA is converted to free IAA in peroxisomes.Then,the highly concentrated IAA in the procambium and parenchyma cells induces WUSCHEL-related homeobox 11(WOX11)expression at two days.Finally,WOX11 acts redundantly to up-regulate WOX5,initiating the development of root primordia cells. 展开更多

Metallic glasses(MGs)possess exceptional properties,but their properties consistently deteriorate over time,thereby resulting in increased complexity in processing.It thus poses a formidable challenge to the forming of long-term aged MGs.Here,we report ultrasonic vibration(UV)loading can lead to large plas-ticity and strong rejuvenation in significantly aged MGs within 1 s.A large UV-induced plasticity(UVIP)of 80%height reduction can be achieved in LaNiAl MG samples aged at 85%of its glass transition tem-perature(0.85 T_(g))for a duration of up to 1 month.The energy threshold required for UVIP monotonously increases with aging time.After the UV loading process,the aged samples show strong rejuvenation,with the relaxation enthalpy even surpassing that of as-cast samples.These findings suggest that UV loading is an effective technique for forming and rejuvenating aged MGs simultaneously,providing an alterna-tive avenue to explore the interplay between the property and microstructures as well as expanding the application prospects of MGs. 展开更多

Objective:To conduct a systematic examination and meta-analysis of the most reliable data from experimental studies evaluating the efficacy of autologous platelet-rich plasma(PRP)on low ovarian reserve.Methods:A comprehensive search was performed utilizing pertinent search terms across electronic databases,including PubMed,Cochrane,and Google Scholar.We included studies that assigned infertile women with low ovarian reserve in experimental studies.Ovarian reserve parameters were measured before and after PRP injection into ovaries.The data of each study was retrieved and subsequently compiled.Results:Of 301 articles collected and reviewed,six studies were finally included in the meta-analysis.Following PRP injection,infertile women showed a non-significant increase in anti-Mullerian hormone(AMH)level(MD=0.10;95%CI-0.04,0.23),a significant increase in antral follicular count(AFC)(MD=1.88;95%CI 0.47,3.29),and a non-significant reduction in follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)level(MD=-0.22;95%CI-8.32,7.87).Conclusions:Autologous PRP may increase AFC,but not AMH.Although it is found beneficial in enhancing ovarian reserve(AFC),further research with strong evidence is still required. 展开更多
