Organic matter removal and CH4 production performance recoveries and microbial community changes in upflow anaerobic biofilter after long term starvation

The organic matter inmunicipal wastewater can be recovered by anaerobic biological treatment,making further resource utilization of municipal wastewater,which meets the requirements of sustainable development.An upflow anaerobic biofilter(UAF)treating municipal wastewater was established.The performances of stable operation and recovery operation of UAF after long-term starvation(234 days)and the changes of microbial community structure were researched.By gradually reducing HRT from 10 h to 4 h,the UAF achieved the treatment performance of pre-starvation after only 50 days recovery operation,in which total COD and soluble COD removal efficiencies reached 66%and 69%,respectively,and the CH_(4) production rate was 0.21 L CH_(4)/g CODremoval.The recovery performance of UAF after long term starvation showed that the recovery sequence of three main anaerobic processes was hydrolytic acidification,hydrogen-acetate production and methanogenesis.High-throughput sequencing results indicated that dominant bacteria associated with hydrolytic acidification process changed from Moduliflexaceae and Trichococcus in stable operation stage to Trichococcus and Romboutsia in recovery stage.Besides,the dominant archaea changed from Methanosaeta(hydrotrophic methanogens)to Methanobacterium(acetotrophic methanogens),showing Methanobacterium was more resistant to starvation environment.Therefore,by using UAF for biological treatment of organic matter,even after a long period of starvation,the system would not be completely destroyed.Once it resumed operation,the treatment performance could be restored in a short period of time. 展开更多

Impact of Selected Insolvency Indicators on the Recoveries of Creditors' Claims Against Closed Banks in the Philippine Context

They mirror the country's political and economic status. The more savings deposited in banks would mean the availability of cash provided to users of funds. On the other hand, their closure affects the creditors. The goals of the study include the minimization of losses imposed on creditors and the expeditious recoveries of their claims against the closed banks' assets. The study proved on the four significant impacts of selected insolvency indicators on the recoveries of creditors' claims against the assets of closed banks under the Philippine context from 1961 to 2011. The study uses various methods such as Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient to establish the strength of association of the independent variable to the dependent variable and time series technique (moving average and trend forecasting) in order to observe the pattern of data over a known period of time. Using the regression analysis, the researchers were able to establish a regression model. The ANOVA test, f-test, and R2-test were used to prove the model's goodness-of-fit, the significance of the predictors, and verification of the assumption of regression hold. Empirical evidence reveals that capital to estimated realizable value of assets ratio (ERVA) and debt to assets ratio (with respect to ERVA) were significant predictors of recovery. Further, the presence of high leverage on banks indicates that their liabilities exceed the value of their realizable assets. Thus, these banks fail to meet their maturing obligations, hence, imposing losses on the uninsured depositors and other creditors. 展开更多

Although a large number of trials in the SCI field have been conducted,few proven gains have been realized for patients.In the present study,we determined the efficacy of a novel combination treatment involving surgical intervention and long-term weight-bearing walking training in spinal cord injury(SCI)subjects clinically diagnosed as complete or American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale(AIS)Class A(AIS-A).A total of 320 clinically complete SCI subjects(271 male and 49 female),aged 16–60 years,received early(≤7 days,n=201)or delayed(8–30 days,n=119)surgical interventions to reduce intraspinal or intramedullary pressure.Fifteen days post-surgery,all subjects received a weight-bearing walking training with the“Kunming Locomotion Training Program(KLTP)”for a duration of 6 months.The neurological deficit and recovery were assessed using the AIS scale and a 10-point Kunming Locomotor Scale(KLS).We found that surgical intervention significantly improved AIS scores measured at 15 days post-surgery as compared to the pre-surgery baseline scores.Significant improvement of AIS scores was detected at 3 and 6 months and the KLS further showed significant improvements between all pair-wise comparisons of time points of 15 days,3 or 6 months indicating continued improvement in walking scores during the 6-month period.In conclusion,combining surgical intervention within 1 month post-injury and weight-bearing locomotor training promoted continued and statistically significant neurological recoveries in subjects with clinically complete SCI,which generally shows little clinical recovery within the first year after injury and most are permanently disabled.This study was approved by the Science and Research Committee of Kunming General Hospital of PLA and Kunming Tongren Hospital,China and registered at ClinicalTrials.gov(Identifier:NCT04034108)on July 26,2019. 展开更多

In this paper, prediction of copper and molybdenum grades and their recoveries of an industrial flotation plant are investigated using the Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) model. Process modeling has done based on 92 datasets collected at different operational conditions and feed characteristics. The prominent parameters investigated in this network were pH, collector, frother and F-Oil concentration, size percentage of feed passing 75 microns, moisture content in feed, solid percentage, and grade of copper, molybdenum, and iron in feed. A multilayer perceptron neural network, with 10:10:10:4 structure (two hidden layers), was used to estimate metallurgical performance. To obtain the optimal hidden layers and nodes in a layer, a trial and error procedure was done. In training and testing phases, it achieved quite correlations of 0.98 and 0.93 for Copper grade, of 0.99 and 0.92 for Copper recovery, of 0.99 and 0.92 for Molybdenum grade and of 0.99 and 0.94 for Molybdenum recovery prediction, respectively. The proposed neural network model can be applied to determine the most beneficial operational conditions for the expected Copper and Molybdenum grades and their recovery in final concentration of the industrial copper flotation process. 展开更多

The global energy landscape is undergoing a profound transformation,with wind energy,especially wind power,gaining increasing prominence due to its clean,renewable nature.However,as the installed capacity of wind power continues to expand,the disposal of waste wind turbine blades(WWTB)has emerged as a significant challenge.These blades are predominantly composed of epoxy resin(EP)polymers,carbon fibers(CFs),and glass fibers(GFs).Improper disposal not only exacerbates environmental concerns but also leads to the loss of valuable resources,particularly carbon-based materials.Pyrolysis technology,a versatile and environmentally sustainable method for resource recovery,has garnered considerable attention in the context of WWTB disposal.This work presents a comprehensive review of the pyrolytic recycling of WWTB,focusing on the principles and classifications of pyrolysis technology,key factors influencing the pyrolysis process,as well as the pyrolysis methods,equipment,products,and their applications.Through an in-depth analysis of the current research on the pyrolytic recycling of WWTB,this review identifies critical unresolved issues in the field and provides a forward-looking perspective on emerging research trends. 展开更多

Early intelligent active assistance in walking for hemiplegic patients under suspension protection: a randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUND:Hemiplegia,a prevalent stroke-related condition,is often studied for motor dysfunction;however,spasticity remains under-researched.Abnormal muscle tone significantly hinders hemiplegic patients’walking recovery.OBJECTIVE:To determine whether early suspension-protected training with a personal assistant machine for stroke patients enhances walking ability and prevents muscle spasms.METHODS:Thirty-two early-stage stroke patients from Shenzhen University General Hospital and the China Rehabilitation Research Center were randomly assigned to the experimental group(n=16)and the control group(n=16).Both groups underwent 4 weeks of gait training under the suspension protection system for 30 minutes daily,5 days a week.The experimental group used the personal assistant machine during training.Three-dimensional gait analysis(using the Cortex motion capture system),Brunnstrom staging,Fugl-Meyer Assessment for lower limb motor function,Fugl-Meyer balance function,and the modified Ashworth Scale were evaluated within 1 week before the intervention and after 4 weeks of intervention.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After the 4-week intervention,all outcome measures showed significant changes in each group.The experimental group had a small but significant increase in the modified Ashworth Scale score(P<0.05,d=|0.15|),while the control group had a large significant increase(P<0.05,d=|1.48|).The experimental group demonstrated greater improvements in walking speed(16.5 to 38.44 cm/s,P<0.05,d=|4.01|),step frequency(46.44 to 64.94 steps/min,P<0.05,d=|2.32|),stride length(15.50 to 29.81 cm,P<0.05,d=|3.44|),and peak hip and knee flexion(d=|1.82|to|2.17|).After treatment,the experimental group showed significantly greater improvements than the control group in walking speed(38.44 vs.26.63 cm/s,P<0.05,d=|2.75|),stride length,peak hip and knee flexion(d=|1.31|to|1.45|),step frequency(64.94 vs.59.38 steps/min,P<0.05,d=|0.85|),and a reduced support phase(bilateral:24.31%vs.28.38%,P<0.05,d=|0.88|;non-paretic:66.19%vs.70.13%,P<0.05,d=|0.94|).For early hemiplegia,personal assistant machine-assisted gait training under the suspension protection system helps establish a correct gait pattern,prevents muscle spasms,and improves motor function. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal(GI)tumors are among the most prevalent malignancies,and surgical intervention remains a primary treatment modality.However,the complexity of GI surgery often leads to prolonged recovery and high postoperative complication rates,which threaten patient safety and functional outcomes.Enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)principles have been shown to improve perioperative outcomes through evidence-based,multidisciplinary care pathways.Despite its widespread adoption,there is a paucity of research focusing specifically on optimizing ERAS-guided nursing processes in the post-anesthesia care unit(PACU)and evaluating its impact on perioperative safety in patients undergoing GI tumor surgery.This study aimed to investigate whether an ERASbased PACU nursing protocol could enhance recovery,reduce complications,and improve patient safety in this surgical population.AIM To explore the impact of optimizing the recovery room nursing process based on ERAS on the perioperative safety of patients with GI tumors.METHODS A total of 260 patients with GI tumors who underwent elective surgeries under general anesthesia in our hospital from August 2023 to August 2025 and were then observed in the recovery unit(PACU)were selected.They were randomly divided into the observation group(the PACU nursing process was optimized based on ERAS)and the control group(the conventional PACU nursing process was adopted)by the random number grouping method,with 130 cases in each group.The time of gastric tube removal,urinary catheter removal,defecation time,hospital stay,time of leaving the room after tube removal,retention time in the recovery room,occurrence of complications,satisfaction and readmission rate were compared between the two groups after entering the room.Compare the occurrence of adverse events in the PACU nursing process between the two groups.RESULTS The time of gastric tube removal,urinary catheter removal,defecation time,hospital stay,retention time in the recovery room,total incidence of complications and readmission rate in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group,and the satisfaction rate was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The occurrence of adverse events in the PACU nursing process in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Optimizing the PACU nursing process based on ERAS can effectively accelerate the recovery process of patients undergoing GI tumor surgery,reduce adverse events,improve nursing satisfaction,and at the same time,lower the incidence of adverse events in the PACU nursing process,providing a more refined management basis for clinical practice. 展开更多

A low-cost TiNb alloy with high strength for orthopedic implants with low modulus tuned by oxygen concentration

Hard tissue repair materials that balance high strength with low modulus are highly promising,representing a transformative focus in applied biomaterials research.In this study,Ti-Nb alloys with high performance are prepared by a low-cost process for orthopedic applications.Phase composition,modulus,compressive strength and recovery properties are effectively manipulated by tailoring trace amounts of interstitial oxygen.With increasing oxygen concentration in sintered Ti-Nb alloys,theβ(body centered cubic)phase was stabilized due to the lattice distortion.The elastic modulus declined from 91 to 24 GPa.The compressive strength slightly decreased from 1595 to 1404 MPa and yield strength increased from 760 to 904 MPa.Additionally,the recovery properties were enhanced by the interstitial oxygen as a shape memory alloy.The utilization of trace oxygen serves to modulate the thermoelastic martensitic transformation in Ti-Nb alloys,thereby obtaining appropriate mechanical properties.A notable reduction in modulus is achieved while maintaining high strength,which facilitates the development of orthopedic implants capable of withstanding more complex forces. 展开更多

Skeletal muscle injuries are prone to induce fatigue,decrease resistance and imbalances in the body.Although ovalbumin(OVA)has such biological effect as promoting tissue development and immunomodulation,its impact on repairing skeletal muscle injuries has been rarely reported.In this study,a mouse model of muscle injury was constructed and found that OVA significantly increased muscle weight,muscle thickness,and exercise capacity in muscle-injured mice.Meanwhile,OVA improved the morphology of muscle tissues by reducing serum levels of urea nitrogen,creatine kinase,and lactate dehydrogenase,as well as decreasing the levels of inflammatory factors interleukin(IL)-1β,tumor necrosis factor α,and IL-6,respectively.In addition,transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses revealed that OVA could enhance muscle tissue morphology by upregulating the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-protein kinase B signaling pathway and improving amino acid metabolism through the upregulation of Col11a2,Ccn2,Thbs1,Tnc,Klf2,Bcl2l1,Adh3a1,and Rsad1.The study provided a theoretical foundation for understanding the molecular mechanisms in OVA-aided muscle injury repair. 展开更多

Sport-related concussion(SRC)and its potential neurological sequela represent an emerging global health concern,requiring improved recovery management and strategies for return-to-play(RTP)to enhance brain health in athletes.Given the dynamic and multifaceted nature of SRC recovery,the purpose of this review is to synthesize existing literature on post-SRC outcomes in adult athletes,and to outline the temporal trajectories of key recovery indicators(symptoms,cognitive function,blood biomarkers)across distinct recovery phases until resolution.In the acute phase of SRC(first 48 h),symptom scores and brain damage markers peaked immediately,while cognitive impairments and neuroinflammation emerged with a slight delay.Following the initial rise,brain damage marker concentrations rapidly dropped below baseline levels at approximately 48 h following SRC injury.During the early recovery phase,neuroinflammation and most cognitive alterations resolved after 3–5 days,though symptom burden and attention deficits persisted for up to 7 days.Despite prolonged alterations reported in some individuals,recovery markers typically returned to pre-injury levels in the transition phase(≤2 weeks),though mild attention deficits were detected up to 3 weeks,and TNF-α concentrations remained elevated throughout late recovery(>2 weeks).These results reveal distinct temporal discrepancies across recovery markers and emphasize that physiological disturbances can outlast symptom resolution,underscoring the need for both multimodal assessments and appropriately timed evaluations to accurately track recovery progression.Incorporating structured follow-ups at key time points,particularly beyond symptom resolution,may improve RTP decision-making and reduce the risk of premature return and long-term neurological consequences. 展开更多

The recovery of precious metals(PMs)from secondary resources is critical for addressing global supply-chain vulnerabilities and sustainable resource utilization.This review systematically examines the transformative potential of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)as next-generation adsorbents for PM recovery,focusing on their synthesis,functionalization,and multiscale adsorption mechanisms.We critically analyze conventional pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical methods and highlight their limitations in terms of selectivity,energy consumption,and secondary pollution.In contrast,MOFs offer tunable porosity,abundant active sites,and tunable surface chemistry,enabling efficient PM capture via synergistic physical and chemical adsorption.Advanced modification techniques,including direct synthesis and post-synthetic modification,are reviewed to propose strategies for enhancing the adsorption kinetics and selectivity for Au,Ag,Pt,and Pd.Key structure-property relationships are established through multiscale characterization and thermodynamic models,revealing the critical roles of hierarchical porosity,soft donor atoms,and framework stability.Industrial challenges,such as aqueous stability and scalability,are addressed via Zr-O bond strengthening,hydrophobic functionalization,and support immobilization.This study consolidates the experimental and theoretical advances in MOF-based PM recovery and provides a roadmap for translating laboratory innovations into practical applications within the circular-economy framework. 展开更多

Radical-induced selective oxidation and depression of pyrite in copper flotation

Selective depression of pyrite remains a major bottleneck in copper flotation,particularly when high-pyrite ores are processed and saline water is used.In such environments,conventional approaches using lime and inert grinding media often fail to discriminate ef-fectively between pyrite and valuable copper minerals due to strong copper activation on pyrite surfaces.This study introduced a novel approach using inorganic radicals generated from peroxymonosulfate(PMS)to selectively oxidize and depress pyrite.Flotation tests with synthetic high-pyrite ore blends showed that PMS significantly reduced pyrite recovery while maintaining or improving chalcopyrite flot-ation.Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid(EDTA)extraction confirmed selective oxidation of pyrite,and electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)spectroscopy identified hydroxyl(·OH)and sulfate(SO_(4)^(·-))radicals as the dominant reactive species.Iron ions from grinding me-dia and mineral surfaces were identified as key activators of PMS.A major insight was pyrite’s dual role,acting both as a radical scav-enger and an activator,which made it highly reactive and susceptible to radical-induced oxidation.This process converted surface copper-sulfur species into copper hydroxides,effectively suppressing pyrite flotation.While previous studies have applied EPR to detect radicals in simplified activator/precursor systems,this study provides the first direct mechanistic evidence of radical-driven selectivity in flotation by detecting inorganic radicals in a complex flotation slurry,thereby demonstrating their persistence under industrially relevant conditions and establishing a foundation for more effective and targeted flotation strategies. 展开更多

Resilience plays a crucial role in maintaining desirable ecosystem states and is a key objective of sustainable ecosystem management.This study synthesizes the concepts and measurement approaches of terrestrial ecosystem resilience and expounded on its spatio-temporal changes and influencing factors based on the literature over the past 50 years.Arid regions exhibited the lowest levels of spatial resilience,and the global ecosystem resilience showed a downward trend.In the focal regions,ecological resilience in Amazonian and Southeast Asian rainforest regions declined primarily driven by human activities such as deforestation and cropland expansion.Precipitation and temperature exerted bidirectional influences the resilience of ecosystems,indicating that ecosystem responses to climatic factors were non-monotonic.Evidence concerning anthropogenic factors such as land management and deforestation on ecosystem resilience were predominantly negative.Overall,this study provides a comprehensive synthesis of large scale terrestrial ecosystem resilience assessments,offering valuable insights for ecosystem protection and restoration policy development. 展开更多

Many adsorbents have been developed for uranium recovery to ensure global energy and environmental security.However,most reported adsorbents involve complex preparation process and rely heavily on petrochemical feedstocks,which undoubtedly increases carbon emissions from production in the nuclear industry.Here,a biomass aerogel(CS-BT)is prepared by the facile cross-linking of chitosan and bayberry tannins with glutaraldehyde.U(Ⅵ)can be adsorbed by hydroxyl groups on CS-BT aerogel via chelation,and the maximum adsorption capacity of the obtained aerogel to U(Ⅵ)is 140 mg·g^(-1)and the removal rate reaches up to 99%(at 298.15 K,pH=5.0).The pseudo-second-order kinetics model and Freundlich model can better match the adsorption process of CS-BT aerogel,implying that its adsorption is a chemical adsorption process dominated by multilayer adsorption.The thermodynamic results show that the adsorption process of U(Ⅵ)by CS-BT aerogel is spontaneous and exothermic.Hence,our biomass aerogel can effectively extract uranium from water,contributing to the sustainable development of the nuclear industry. 展开更多

Unwarranted death of neurons is a major cause of neurodegenerative diseases.Since mature neurons are postmitotic and do not replicate,their death usually constitutes an irreversible step in pathology.A logical strategy to prevent neurodegeneration would then be to save all neurons that are still alive,i.e.protecting the ones that are still healthy as well as trying to rescue the ones that are damaged and in the process of dying.Regarding the latter,recent experiments have indicated that the possibility of reversing the cell death process and rescuing dying cells is more significant than previously anticipated.In many situations,the elimination of the cell death trigger alone enables dying cells to spontaneously repair their damage,recover,and survive.In this review,we explore the factors,which determine the fate of neurons engaged in the cell death process.A deeper insight into cell death mechanisms and the intrinsic capacity of cells to recover could pave the way for novel therapeutic approaches to neurodegenerative diseases. 展开更多

Background:Cupping therapy(CT),an ancient practice revived in modern sports medicine,offers potential benefits for athlete recovery and performance.Distinctions between wet CT(WCT)and dry CT(DCT)in sports science focus on their effects on recovery metrics,particularly how they influence sleep quality,perceived wellness,and athletic performance.Despite anecdotal evidence of its efficacy,rigorous comparative studies are scarce.Objective:This study aimed to evaluates and compare the effects of WCT and DCT on endurance,perceived wellness,exertion levels,and sleep quality among young,active males,addressing the gap in the literature regarding CT's efficacy in sports performance and recovery.Methods:Thirty-two amateur runners were randomly divided into two groups:one followed WCT sessions and the other followed DCT sessions.The study assessed the interventions'impacts on endurance performance(Yo-Yo intermittent recovery test),sleep quality(Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index),and perceived exertion(Borg CR10 Scale).Heart rate was measured using a Polar H10 sensor to gauge physiological responses during physical tests.Results:Significant improvements were observed in the WCT group for sleep latency(%change=-82.31%;interaction group×time p=0.006;Cohen's d=0.74)and sleep disturbance(%change=-68.70%;interaction group×time p<0.001;Cohen's d=1.09),suggesting enhanced sleep quality(global score;%change=-52.81;interaction group×time p=0.004;Cohen's d=0.77).However,no significant differences were found in direct performance metrics(distance,maximal heart rate,maximal oxygen uptake)between WCT and DCT groups.These findings highlight WCT's potential as a recovery aid,particularly through improved sleep,without directly influencing endurance performance outcomes.Conclusion:WCT may serve as an effective ergogenic aid for athletes by potentially improving sleep quality and reducing perceived exertion,thus contributing indirectly to performance through enhanced recovery. 展开更多

In April 2016,a moment magnitude(Mw)7.8 earthquake struck near Muisne(Pedernales),Ecuador,causing 671 fatalities,displacing>30,000 people,and generating approximately USD 3.6 billion in economic losses that severely impacted the coastal province of Manabí.Nine years later,the recovery trajectory of its principal urban centers-Pedernales,Manta,Portoviejo,and Chone-offers a critical perspective to assess adaptive resilience in earthquake-prone coastal cities of Latin America.This study conducts a regional assessment of post-earthquake recovery using the 4Rs resilience framework-robustness,redundancy,resourcefulness,and rapidity-applied across housing,health,education,infrastructure,and economic sectors.Official reports,statistical databases,and field validations collected between 2016 and 2025 provide the basis for documenting both progress and persistent challenges.The findings indicate that robustness improved with the enforcement of the Ecuadorian seismic code NEC-15 and the adoption of advanced technologies such as base isolation and supplemental damping in hospitals and high-rise buildings.Redundancy expanded selectively,being stronger in healthcare yet limited in housing and utilities.Resourcefulness varied across cities:municipal leadership and civic oversight in Manta and Portoviejo facilitated adaptive recovery,whereas Pedernales and Chone remained dependent on central agencies.Rapidity was similarly uneven;lifeline services were restored promptly,but complex projects-including hospitals,sewer systems,and residential complexes-faced delays of five to nine years.Structural assessments of 97 buildings revealed that nearly half remain without reinforcement,with recurrent deficiencies such as soft-story mecha-nisms,brittle masonry infill,and reinforcement corrosion sustaining latent seismic risk.Governance fragmen-tation,equity gaps,and insufficient monitoring thus emerged as critical barriers,underscoring the need for integrated governance,community participation,and AI-enabled monitoring to strengthen long-term disaster recovery in coastal cities. 展开更多

The proliferation of carrier aircraft and the integration of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)on aircraft carriers present new challenges to the automation of launch and recovery operations.This paper investigates a collaborative scheduling problem inherent to the operational processes of carrier aircraft,where launch and recovery tasks are conducted concurrently on the flight deck.The objective is to minimize the cumulative weighted waiting time in the air for recovering aircraft and the cumulative weighted delay time for launching aircraft.To tackle this challenge,a multiple population self-adaptive differential evolution(MPSADE)algorithm is proposed.This method features a self-adaptive parameter updating mechanism that is contingent upon population diversity,an asynchronous updating scheme,an individual migration operator,and a global crossover mechanism.Additionally,comprehensive experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm.Ultimately,a comparative analysis with existing operation modes confirms the enhanced efficiency of the collaborative operation mode. 展开更多

Differences in drought effects on carbon fluxes in vegetation in arid and humid regions

Drought influences carbon fixation by plants.Therefore,elucidating its impact on carbon fluxes in plants at the ecosystem level is crucial for assessing their role in mitigating climate change.Using carbon fluxes and environmental factor data from FLUXNET sites,we analyzed the influence of drought on carbon fluxes,their drivers,time-lag effects,and recovery times across various climatic regions and seasons.Results showed drought significantly decreased gross primary production(GPP),ecosystem respiration,and net ecosystem productivity in arid regions but slightly increased carbon sequestration in humid regions.Summer droughts negatively affected vegetation carbon fluxes,partly offset by the positive impact of spring droughts.Nonforest carbon fluxes were more susceptible to drought effects than forest fluxes.Soil water content(SWC)was the main influence on changes in arid regions,whereas vapor pressure deficit(VPD)dominated humid regions.Decreased SWC and increased VPD reduced carbon sequestration in arid regions but increased it in humid regions.Increased VPD reduced GPP,leading to forest carbon loss,whereas decreased SWC reduced GPP,leading to nonforest carbon loss.The lag time of the drought effects on carbon fluxes was longer in humid regions(19.44 d)than in arid regions(14.71 d).Compared to nonforest areas(16.74 d and 57 d for drought lag and recovery time,respectively),forest areas had a longer lag(18.81 d)and recovery time(92 d).The findings revealed discrepancies in the main factors regulating vegetation carbon fluxes during droughts between arid and humid regions and between forest and nonforest ecosystems.These insights provide a new perspective on understanding and simulating carbon-climate feedback.Enhancing ecosystem diversity is a feasible measure to increase drought resistance. 展开更多
