The novel carbon-sulfur nano-composite material was synthesized by heating sublimed sulfur and high surface area activated carbon (HSAAC) in certain conditions. Equivalent circuits were used to fit the spectra at different discharge states. The variations of impedance spectra, charge-transfer resistance and double layer capacitance were discussed. The changes of EIS with potential were analyzed based on a plausible electrical equivalent circuit model, and some parameters were measured and analyzed about electrochemical performance and state of charge and discharge of the electrode. This triggers significant efforts to reveal the fundamental mechanism determining batteryperformance with the use of advanced analytical techniques. However, the inherently complex character-istics of battery systems make the mechanism analysis sophisticated and difficult. Synchrotron radiationis an advanced collimated light source with high intensity and tunable energies. It has particular ad-vantages in electronic structure and geometric structure (both the short-range and long-range structure)analysis of materials on different length and time scales. This review gives a brief introduction of the application of synchrotron X-ray techniques to the inves-tigation of battery systems. The five widely implicated techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), PairDistribution Function (PDF), Hard and Soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray photoelectronspectroscopy (XPS) will be reviewed, with the emphasis on their in situ studies of battery systems during cycling.展开更多

文摘The next-generation energy storage systems such as fuel cells,metal-air batteries, and alkali metal(Li,Na)-chalcogen(S,Se)batteries have received increasing attention owing to their high energy density and low cost. However, one of the main obstacles of these systems is the poor reaction kinetics in the involved chemical reactions. Therefore,it is essential to incorporate suitable and efficient catalysts into the cell. These years,single-atom catalysts(SACs)are emerging as a frontier in catalysis due to their maximum atom efficiency and unique reaction selectivity. For SACs fabrication,metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)have been confirmed as promising templates or precursors due to their high metal loadings, structural adjustability, porosity, and tailorable catalytic site.In this review,we summarize effective strategies for fabricating SACs by MOFs with corresponding advanced characterization techniques and illustrate the key role of MOFs-based SACs in these batteries by explaining their reaction mechanisms and challenges. Finally, current applications, prospects, and opportunities for MOFs-based SACs in energy storage systems are discussed.

文摘Nano/micro-scaled CoSnx alloy powders synthesized via carbothermal reduction at 800 ℃ with different compositions were characterized for anode materials in Li-ion battery. The synthesized spherical CoSnx particles show a loose nano/micro sized particle structural characteristic, which is apparently favorable for the improvement of cycling stability. The prepared CoSn3 alloy composite electrode exhibits a low initial irreversible capacity of ca.130 mAh·g-1 and a high specific capacity of ca.440 mAh·g-1 at constant current density of 100 mA·g-1. The relatively large particle size is considered to be the main reason for the lower irreversible capacity of CoSn3 electrode.

文摘Two-dimensional(2D) metal oxide nanosheets have attracted much attention as potential electrode materials for rechargeable batteries in recent years. This is primarily due to their natural abundance, environmental compatibility, and low cost as well as good electrochemical properties. Despite the fact that most metal oxides possess low conductivity, the introduction of some conductive heterogeneous components, such as nano-carbon, carbon nanotubes(CNTs), and graphene, to form metal oxide-based hybrids, can effectively overcome this drawback. In this mini review, we will summarize the recent advances of three typical 2D metal oxide nanomaterials, namely, binary metal oxides, ternary metal oxides, and hybrid metal oxides, which are used for the electrochemical applications of next-generation rechargeable batteries, mainly for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries(SIBs). Hence, this review intends to functionalize as a good reference for the further research on 2D nanomaterials and the further development of energy-storage devices.
文摘Carbon-sulfur nano-composite cathodes for lithium rechargeable batteries were investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The good accuracy in fitting values of the model to the experimental data indicates that the mathematical model gives out a satisfying description upon the mechanism of high rate of capacity fade in lithium-sulfur battery.

文摘The increased use of rechargeable batteries in portable electronic devices and the continuous develop-ment of novel applications (e.g. transportation and large scale energy storage), have raised a strong de-mand for high performance batteries with increased energy density, cycle and calendar life, safety andlower costs. In the past decades, synchrotron X-ray tech-niques have been widely used to understand the fundamental mechanism and guide the technologicaloptimization of batteries. In particular, in situ and operando techniques with high spatial and temporalresolution, enable the nondestructive, real time dynamic investigation of the electrochemical reaction, and lead to significant deep insights into the battery operation mechanism. This review gives a brief introduction of the application of synchrotron X-ray techniques to the inves-tigation of battery systems. The five widely implicated techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), PairDistribution Function (PDF), Hard and Soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray photoelectronspectroscopy (XPS) will be reviewed, with the emphasis on their in situ studies of battery systems during cycling.

文摘The synthesis of CDMO from LiOH and EMD has been investigated by thermogravimetry and pow- der X-ray diffraction analysis. The results showed that it took place from below 100 to 400℃.When the proportion of Li:Mn in the starting mixture was 3:7,the measured weight loss during this process was 7.40% for heat-treated EMD and 8.33% for non-heat-treated EMD.Based on these data and X-ray diffraction results the obtained product would be 3LiMn204 - MnO2.This material was es- sentially amorphous. It can insert 4.7 Li per 3LiMn_2O_4·MnO_2,leading to a capacity of 170- 200 mAh/g and demonstrated reasonable discharge and recharge cycle performance for both test cells and practical batteries.

文摘Rechargeable magnesium batteries(RMBs)have been considered a promising“post lithium-ion battery”system to meet the rapidly increasing demand of the emerging electric vehicle and grid energy storage market. However, the sluggish diffusion kinetics of bivalent Mg^(2+)in the host material, related to the strong Coulomb effect between Mg^(2+)and host anion lattices, hinders their further development toward practical applications.Defect engineering, regarded as an effective strategy to break through the slow migration puzzle, has been validated in various cathode materials for RMBs.In this review,we first thoroughly understand the intrinsic mechanism of Mg^(2+)diffusion in cathode materials, from which the key factors affecting ion diffusion are further presented. Then, the positive effects of purposely introduced defects, including vacancy and doping, and the corresponding strategies for introducing various defects are discussed. The applications of defect engineering in cathode materials for RMBs with advanced electrochemical properties are also summarized. Finally, the existing challenges and future perspectives of defect engineering in cathode materials for the overall high-performance RMBs are described.
