Based on the ADDIE model,we explored the integration path between Understanding Contemporary China:An English Reading and Writing Textbook and the main textbook of college English reading.Firstly,the basis of textbook integration was analyzed,followed by an explanation of the overall design scheme of textbook integration,and then a series of teaching resources were initially developed and used in teaching practice.Through testing,it was found that the integrative teaching of the two sets of textbooks under the ADDIE model achieved good teaching results,and promoted the three aspects of reading literacy,disciplinary literacy,and value leadership. 展开更多

With the development of computer, technology way of language teaching has experienced great changes. In the past, the methods of language teaching mainly focus on the direct method, the grammar-translation, audio-lingual, the structure approach, communicative language teaching, community language learning, task-based language learning, etc. These methods start and develop with the need and application of some theories. At the present time, the computer is widely used in every field and the Internet is compulsory of daily life, especially more and more students use the WeChat APP. So the way of teaching language is changing accordingly. This paper is to analyze the new way of language teaching, the flipped class model, and how it is used with WeChat APP. The first part is the general introduction of the flipped class model, the second part is the application of the flipped class model to reading and writing classes, and the third part is the use of WeChat APP in the cell phone. 展开更多

Research has shown that L2 (second/foreign language) learners with higher anxiety tend to have weaker L2 reading and writing performance. This paper presents an innovative approach of teaching: the combination of extensive reading and writing blogs, which aims at reducing students' anxiety and promoting students' performance in L2 reading and writing. It also discusses the theoretical framework that supports the use of extensive reading and the reasons for using blogs as writing tools. Relative research on extensive reading and the use of blogs is synthesized. A design for one course that showcases the innovation is also presented. Finally, some suggestions are provided for teachers to help teachers successfully implement the innovative practices. 展开更多

This study aimed at investigating the effect of using a Web Quest program on developing some EFL critical reading and writing skills of the first year experimental secondary school students. The participants of the study were 60 students from one of the Experimental Secondary Schools in Egypt. Instruments of the study were EFL critical reading and writing tests. Students in both the experimental and the control groups were pre-tested using the critical reading test and the writing test. Then, students of the experimental group were using Web Quest. Finally, students in both groups were post-tested using the same instruments. The study showed that there was statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre and the post critical reading test and writing test of the experimental group in favor of the post tests. This difference can be attributed to using Web Quest. 展开更多

Cohesion is the system of formal visible markers, which manifest the semantic relations between sentences. Coherence lies in the deep structure of a text. It refers to the complex non-linear notional-functional relations behind the linear sequences of words or sentences. Controlling is an intuitive semantic key-link, which lies on the topmost level in the hierarchical representation of a text. This thesis attempts to bring these textlinguistic theories in contact with practical issues in language teaching, especially in the teaching of reading and writing. The students taught were second-year non-English majors from X university and the course book used was New Horizon College English: Reading and Writing(3 rd edition). SLA theories involved include Input Hypothesis, Noticing Hypothesis and Comprehensible Output Hypothesis; teaching methodologies applied include Grammar-Translation Method,Communicative Language Teaching and Task Based Language Teaching(TBLT). After a semester-long teaching practice, the present reflection was completed after a deep discussion with the teacher.
