Analysis of the Duration and Rest Time of Wheel Chair Para Table Tennis at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games

The purpose of this study was to analyse and compare the match characteristics of wheelchair PTT (Para table tennis) classes that played in the team tournament at the Rio 2016 Paralympic. Eight PTT matches of each selected class (1, 2, 4 and 5) were analysed.The variables analysed were DR (duration of rally) and RT (rest time). In observing the characteristics of the matches in Classes 1, 2, 4 and 5, the DR corresponded to 3.4 ± 1.2, 4.2 ± 1.5, 4.5 ± 1.6 and 5.2 ± 1.2 seconds, and RT to 13.8 ± 3.5, 14 ± 3.5, 13.3 ± 3.1 and 12.3± 3.3 seconds. In Classes 1 and 2, significant differences in DR were found, but none in RT (p 〉 0.05). In the DR and RT of classes 4 and 5 there were significant differences (p 〈 0.05). The results indicated that the DR in Classes 1 and 2 were different because of sitting balance due to severe reduction of function in Class 1 playing arm, interfering in the rally and rest. In Classes 4 and 5 the differences in DR and RT were caused by little sitting balance in Class 4. These characteristics should be used by coaches to check the disadvantages that Class 1 presents against Class 2, and the physical limitations of Class 4 that can directly influence DR in the team tournament against athletes with normal trunk muscle function (Class 5). Planned training prescriptions between classes would aim at achieving better sport performance in training and team tournaments. 展开更多

Simulation of groundwater table dynamics based on Feflow in the Minqin Basin,China 被引量:6

As groundwater table declination is an important factor resulting in degradation of eco-environment in the Minqin Basin, China, it is significant to investigate and understand the groundwater table dynamics in this area. According to the physical and geographical conditions of the Minqin Basin, a hydrogeological conceptual model and a mathematical model were established, and the mathematical model was figured out by using Finite Element subsurface Flow system (Feflow). Accurate hydrogeological parameters were acquired, and the spatio-temporal distribution dynamics of groundwater table for 1983-2001 were also simulated. The model performed well with a correlation coefficient of 0.977 and a mean error of 0.9768 m. The inflow and outflow of the groundwater system were predicted by time series analysis, and the groundwater table dynamics for 2011 were further acquired. Gen- erally the groundwater table in the Minqin Basin would continue to decline. The groundwater table would decline during spring and summer irrigation, while it would rise during autumn-winter irrigation. The groundwater depression cones would expand with the increase of center depths. Therefore, regulatory measures should be taken to prevent the declination of groundwater table and improve the eco-environment of this area. 展开更多

This paper describes shaking table tests of three eight-story building models: all are masonry structures in the upper stories, with or without frame-shear walls of one- or two- stories at the bottom. The test results of damage characteristics and seismic responses are provided and compared. Then, nonlinear response analyses are conducted to examine the reliability of the dynamic analysis. Finally, many nonlinear response analyses are performed and it is concluded that for relatively hard sites under a certain lateral stiffness ratio (i.e., the ratio of the stiffness of the lowest upper masonry story to that of the frame- shear wall story), the masonry structure with one-story frame-shear wall at the bottom performs better than a structure built entirely of masonry, and a masonry structure with frame-shear wall of two stories performs better than with one-story frame- shear wall. In relatively soft soil conditions, all three structures have similar performane. In addition, some suggestions that could be helpful for design of masonry structures with ground story of frame-shear wall structure in seismic intensity region VII, such as the appropriate lateral stiffness ratio, shear force increase factor of the frame-shear wall story, and permissible maximum height of the building, are proposed. 展开更多

This article extends a signal-based approach formerly proposed by the authors, which utilizes the fractal dimension of time frequency feature (FDTFF) of displacements, for earthquake damage detection of moment resist frame (MRF), and validates the approach with shaking table tests. The time frequency feature (TFF) of the relative displacement at measured story is defined as the real part of the coefficients of the analytical wavelet transform. The fractal dimension (FD) is to quantify the TFF within the fundamental frequency band using box counting method. It is verified that the FDTFFs at all stories of the linear MRF are identical with the help of static condensation method and modal superposition principle, while the FDTFFs at the stories with localized nonlinearities due to damage will be different from those at the stories without nonlinearities using the reverse-path methodology. By comparing the FDTFFs of displacements at measured stories in a structure, the damage-induced nonlinearity of the structure under strong ground motion can be detected and localized. Finally shaking table experiments on a 1:8 scale sixteen-story three-bay steel MRF with added frictional dampers, which generate local nonlinearities, are conducted to validate the approach. 展开更多

The seismic design of gravity retaining walls is based mostly on the pseudo static method.The seismic earth pressure is assumed to be a constant without considering the wave traveling effect when the seismic wave propagates through the slope.However,under continuous ground motion,the actual earth pressure on the retaining wall varies with time.The present seismic earth pressure calculation method yields results that differ significantly from the actual scenario.Considering this,a slip surface curve was assumed in this study.It is more suitable for engineering practice.In addition,a theoretical calculation model based on energy dissipation was established.The time history of seismic earth pressure response under continuous ground motion was calculated using the equilibrium equation between the external power and the internal energy dissipation power of the sliding soil wedge.It can more effectively reflect the stress scenario of a retaining wall under seismic conditions.To verify the applicability of the proposed approach,a large-scale shaking table test was conducted,and the time history of the seismic earth pressure response obtained from the experiment was compared with the calculation results.The results show that the proposed approach is applicable to the calculation of the time history of seismic earth pressure response of gravity retaining walls.This lays the foundation for the seismic design of retaining structures by using dynamic time history. 展开更多

In this study, four 1/5 scaled shaking table tests were conducted to investigate the seismic performance of recycled concrete frame-shear wall structures with different recycled aggregates replacement rates and concealed bracing detail. The four tested structures included one normal concrete model, one recycled coarse aggregate concrete model, and two recycled coarse and fi ne aggregate concrete models with or without concealed bracings inside the shear walls. The dynamic characteristics, dynamic response and failure mode of each model were compared and analyzed. Finite element models were also developed and nonlinear time-history response analysis was conducted. The test and analysis results show that the seismic performance of the recycled coarse aggregate concrete frame-shear wall structure is slightly worse than the normal concrete structure. The seismic resistance capacity of the recycled concrete frame-shear wall structure can be greatly improved by setting up concealed bracings inside the walls. With appropriate design, the recycled coarse aggregate concrete frame-shear wall structure and recycled concrete structure with concealed bracings inside the walls can be applied in buildings. 展开更多

A new timing delay model based on some delay tables of fabricators is first simplified and deduced; then it is formulated as a constrained programming problem using the new timing delay model. The approach combines the well\|known quadratic placement with bottom\|up clustering, as well as the slicing partitioning strategy, which has been tested on a set of sample circuits from industry and the results obtained show that it is very promising. 展开更多

The present paper aims to show the impact of continuous time calculation on life insurance pricing and reserving in the Algerian context. The discrete time approach allows insurance companies to facilitate calculation process but with less accuracy. This approach implies constancy of death quotients during a year. However, the death risk is a continuous function in time. For more accuracy and equity in pricing, calculation needs to consider the exact dates of different payments and also a continuous capitalization process. This gives more adequate premium with fewer hypotheses. This work shows how insurers can propose more adequate pricing using the same actuarial life table. 展开更多

Untangling Phase and Time in Monophonic Sounds

We are looking for a mathematical model of monophonic sounds with independent time and phase dimensions. With such a model we can resynthesise a sound with arbitrarily modulated frequency and progress of the timbre. We propose such a model and show that it exactly fulfils some natural properties, like a kind of timeinvariance, robustness against non-harmonic frequencies, envelope preservation, and inclusion of plain resampling as a special case. The resulting algorithm is efficient and allows to process data in a streaming manner with phase and shape modulation at sample rate, what we demonstrate with an implementation in the functional language Haskell. It allows a wide range of applications, namely pitch shifting and time scaling, creative FM synthesis effects, compression of monophonic sounds, generating loops for sampled sounds, synthesise sounds similar to wavetable synthesis, or making ultrasound audible. 展开更多

Application of short-time Fourier transform to high-rise frame structural-health monitoring based on change of inherent frequency over time

The high-rise frame structure has become more and more widespread, like its damage from the complication of the environment. The traditional method of damage detection, which is only suitable for the stationary signal, does not apply to a high-rise frame structure because its damage signal is non-stationary. Thus, this paper presents an application of the short-time Fourier transform(STFT) to damage detection of high-rise frame structures. Compared with the fast Fourier transform, STFT is found to be able to express the frequency spectrum property of the time interval using the signal within this interval. Application of STFT to analyzing a Matlab model and the shaking table test with a twelve-story frame-structure model reveals that there is a positive correlation between the slope of the frequency versus time and the damage level. If the slope is equal to or greater than zero, the structure is not damaged. If the slope is smaller than zero, the structure is damaged, and the less the slope is, the more serious the damage is. The damage results from calculation based on the Matlab model are consistent with those from the shaking table test, demonstrating that STFT can be a reliable tool for the damage detection of high-rise frame structures. 展开更多

濒危植物小溪洞杜鹃种群结构与动态特征

小溪洞杜鹃(Rhododendron xiaoxidongense)为我国特有的珍稀濒危植物,狭域分布于罗霄山脉中段,种群数量稀少,曾被评估为灭绝(EX),其资源状况和种群结构与动态不清楚,严重制约了该物种的保护。该研究以现存的小溪洞杜鹃种群为研究对象,... 小溪洞杜鹃(Rhododendron xiaoxidongense)为我国特有的珍稀濒危植物,狭域分布于罗霄山脉中段,种群数量稀少,曾被评估为灭绝(EX),其资源状况和种群结构与动态不清楚,严重制约了该物种的保护。该研究以现存的小溪洞杜鹃种群为研究对象,通过空间代替时间的方法得到种群龄级结构,据此计算种群动态指数、编制静态生命表、绘制存活曲线和生存函数曲线,分析种群结构特征与生存潜力;运用时间序列模型预测种群未来发展趋势,并采用聚集度指标判断种群空间分布格局,旨在明确小溪洞杜鹃种群生存状况、发展趋势及影响种群更新的关键因子,为其野生种群保护、管理和复壮提供科学依据。结果表明:(1) 4个小溪洞杜鹃种群龄级结构均不完整,总体表现为中龄、成龄个体较多,低龄及老龄个体严重不足,属衰退型。(2)相邻龄级间的动态指数随着龄级增大呈“衰退—增长—稳定—衰退”的波动变化,忽略外部干扰时的动态指数>考虑外部干扰时的动态指数(V′pi)> 0, V′pi趋近于0,对外部干扰所承担的风险概率最大值为11.11%,表明该种群受外部干扰风险概率高,抗干扰能力弱。(3)期望寿命在I龄级时最大,存活曲线为Deevey-II型。(4)死亡率和消失率曲线呈“升高—降低—升高”动态变化,种群处于不稳定状态。(5)生存函数曲线呈现前期锐减、中期相对稳定和后期缓慢衰退的趋势,并在较小的龄级(2.25龄)进入衰退期,表明种群生存力较弱。(6)在未来2、4、6和8个龄级时间后,低龄、中龄个体数减少,成龄、老龄个体数增多,种群面临衰退风险。(7)种群分布格局总体表现为集群分布,但随着龄级增大聚集度减弱,并在VII–VIII龄级时过渡到随机分布。综上所述,种群个体数量少、分布地狭窄、抗干扰能力弱及幼苗更新困难是导致小溪洞杜鹃濒危的主要原因。建议加强小溪洞杜鹃种群的生境保护与抚育管理,并结合野外回归和近地保护,多途径实现种群保护与复壮。 展开更多

传统模糊控制的模糊论域固定,当被控结构动力特性或外部激励发生变化时,模糊控制的控制效率会降低。在传统模糊控制算法的基础上增设伸缩因子模糊控制器,伸缩因子模糊控制以被控对象的误差及误差变化率作为输入,伸缩因子作为输出,实现... 传统模糊控制的模糊论域固定,当被控结构动力特性或外部激励发生变化时,模糊控制的控制效率会降低。在传统模糊控制算法的基础上增设伸缩因子模糊控制器,伸缩因子模糊控制以被控对象的误差及误差变化率作为输入,伸缩因子作为输出,实现主模糊控制器的模糊论域自适应调整。以一个安装磁流变阻尼器的两层钢框架结构为控制对象,将结构首层位移和速度作为输入,在dSPACE实时仿真系统中搭建了变论域模糊控制系统。开展了不同强度地震动和不同附加质量工况下结构振动控制的振动台试验,结果表明:变论域模糊控制能自适应调节模糊论域,有效减小结构位移、速度和加速度响应;当被控结构附加质量和地震动峰值加速度变化时,变论域模糊控制的控制效果均优于模糊控制和OFF被动控制。 展开更多
