A rectangular m × n resistor network with an arbitrary boundary is investigated, and a general resistance formula between two nodes on an arbitrary axis is derived by the Recursion-Transform(RT) method, a problem that has never been resolved before, for the Green's function technique and the Laplacian matrix approach are inapplicable to it. To have the exact solution of resistance is important but it is difficult to obtain under the condition of arbitrary boundary. Our result is directly expressed in a single summation and mainly composed of characteristic roots, which contain both finite and infinite cases. Further, the current distribution is given explicitly as a byproduct of the method. Our framework can be effectively applied to RLC networks. As an application to the LC network, we find that our formulation leads to the occurrence of resonances at h_1= 1-cosφ_i-sinφ_icotnφ_i. This somewhat curious result suggests the possibility of practical applications of our formulae to resonant circuits. 展开更多

We study a problem of two-point resistance in a non-regular m × n cylindrical network with a zero resistor axis and two arbitrary boundaries by means of the Recursion-Transform method. This is a new problem never solved before, the Green's function technique and the Laplacian matrix approach are invalid in this case. A disordered network with arbitrary boundaries is a basic model in many physical systems or real world systems, however looking for the exact calculation of the resistance of a binary resistor network is important but difficult in the case of the arbitrary boundaries, the boundary is like a wall or trap which affects the behavior of finite network. In this paper we obtain a general resistance formula of a non-regular m × n cylindrical network, which is composed of a single summation. Further,the current distribution is given explicitly as a byproduct of the method. As applications, several interesting results are derived by making special cases from the general formula. 展开更多

Electrical property is an important problem in the field of natural science and physics, which usually involves potential, current and resistance in the electric circuit. We investigate the electrical properties of an arbitrary hammock network, which has not been resolved before, and propose the exact potential formula of an arbitrary m × n hammock network by means of the Recursion-Transform method with current parameters(RT-I) pioneered by one of us [Z. Z. Tan, Phys. Rev. E 91(2015) 052122], and the branch currents and equivalent resistance of the network are derived naturally. Our key technique is to setting up matrix equations and making matrix transformation, the potential formula derived is a meaningful discovery, which deduces many novel applications. The discovery of potential formula of the hammock network provides new theoretical tools and techniques for related scientific research. 展开更多

The space partitioning algorithm based on the rounding and addressing operations has been proved to be an efficient space partitioning algorithm with the potential for real-time calculation.An improvement on this kind of space partitioning algorithms for solving complex 3D models is presented.Numerical examples show that the efficiency of the improved algorithm is better than that of the original method.When the size of most target elements is smaller than the size of spatial grids,the efficiency of the improved method can be more than four times of that of the original method.An adaptive method of space partitioning based on the improved algorithm is developed by taking the surface element density or the curvature as the threshold for deep partitioning and conducting the deep partitioning using the octree method.A computer program implementation for applying the method in some typical applications is discussed,and the performance in terms of the efficiency,reliability,and resource use is evaluated.Application testing shows that the results of the adaptive spacing partitioning are more convenient for the follow-up use than that of the basic uniform space partitioning.Furthermore,when it is used to calculate the electromagnetic scattering of complex targets by the ray tracing(RT)method,the adaptive space partitioning algorithm can reduce the calculation time of the RT process by more than 40%compared with the uniform space segmentation algorithm. 展开更多
