With the approaching of large-scale retirement of power lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),their urgent handling is required for environmental protection and resource reutilization.However,at present,substantial spent power ...With the approaching of large-scale retirement of power lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),their urgent handling is required for environmental protection and resource reutilization.However,at present,substantial spent power batteries,especially for those high recovery value cathode materials,have not been greenly,sustainably,and efficiently recycled.Compared to the traditional recovery method for cathode materials with high energy consumption and severe secondary pollution,the direct repair regeneration,as a new type of short-process and efficient treatment methods,has attracted widespread attention.However,it still faces challenges in homogenization repair,electrochemical performance decline,and scaling-up production.To promote the direct regeneration technology development of failed NCM materials,herein we deeply discuss the failure mechanism of nickel-cobalt-manganese(NCM)ternary cathode materials,including element loss,Li/Ni mixing,phase transformation,structural defects,oxygen release,and surface degradation and reconstruction.Based on this,the detailed analysis and summary of the direct regeneration method embracing solid-phase sintering,eutectic salt assistance,solvothermal synthesis,sol-gel process,spray drying,and redox mediation are provided.Further,the upcycling strategy for regeneration materials,such as single-crystallization and high-nickelization,structural regulation,ion doping,and surface engineering,are discussed in deep.Finally,the challenges faced by the direct regeneration and corresponding countermeasures are pointed out.Undoubtedly,this review provides valuable guidance for the efficient and high-value recovery of failed cathode materials.展开更多

Schools of nursing are under continui...The nation’s nursing shortage is predicted to worsen, as nurses retire (supply) and more patients have access to care with the full enactment of the Affordable Care Act (demand). Schools of nursing are under continuing pressure to increase enrollment in entry level nursing programs [1-4]. Nurse educators have been engaged in a variety of creative and innovative projects to increase enrollment with some success. A primary reason for the lack of educational capacity is the shortage of nursing faculty [3-7]. The University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston School of Nursing undertook an innovative project to alleviate the nursing faculty shortage at that school. Working with a retired physician group, physician volunteers were solicited to teach in the laboratory portion of an undergraduate health assessment course. Twenty-two physicians volunteered in the first year in a class that involved forty baccalaureate students in their first-semester. The objectives of the project were twofold: First, to determine the suitability of retired physicians to serve as teachers of baccalaureate nursing students and second, ascertain possible monetary savings by using these physicians. Both of these goals were realized. The students valued the physicians’ enthusiasm, wisdom and experience and the cohort of physicians equaled the equivalent of four nursing faculty members. With an average annual faculty salary of $100,000, savings were significant.展开更多

Methods: from March 2018 to April 2019 in our hospital, 100 cases of elderly chronic diseases with one or more of three ch...Objective: to study the dependent factors of the elderly on the treatment of chronic diseases. Methods: from March 2018 to April 2019 in our hospital, 100 cases of elderly chronic diseases with one or more of three chronic diseases: hypertension, hyperlipidemia and diabetes were selected from simple random samples. Develop and implement regular surveys to identify dependence on treatment for chronic conditions. Results: before retirees treated for chronic conditions, it was generally more effective that 81% of seniors chose to see a doctor after their health improved or worsened and then decided to stop taking medications. 19% of seniors have no access to medications because their treatment options are too complex. 80% of the elderly have a regular check-up, while 20% are unable to do so because the hospital is too far from the hospital or in a difficult situation. Bottom line: while treatment of chronic conditions in the elderly prior to retirement is generally better than treatment of gender-related conditions, medical perceptions and behaviors still require more attention. To further increase the autonomy of older persons in the fight against chronic sexually transmitted diseases, evidence-based, effective and comprehensive strategies are needed to increase the autonomy of older persons in the fight against chronic sexually transmitted diseases.展开更多

Electric Vehicles(EVs),as a low-carbon means of transportation,have promptly become popular worldwide in the past decade.Since the lifespan of batteries is limited,massive of Electric Vehicle Batteries(EVBs)are being ...Electric Vehicles(EVs),as a low-carbon means of transportation,have promptly become popular worldwide in the past decade.Since the lifespan of batteries is limited,massive of Electric Vehicle Batteries(EVBs)are being retired,resulting in a rapid increase in the demand for the recycling of retired EVBs in recent years.However,due to high recycling costs and immature recycling technologies,EV manufacturers are facing significant challenges in recycling retired EVBs.China,as the country with the largest number of EV users in the world,is exploring effective incentive policies for the recycling of retired EVBs.In this context,we developed a system dynamics model to analyze the impact of incentive polices such as,recycling subsidies,technological progress,and carbon trading on the retired EVBs recycling.Results show that:1)recycling subsidies can improve the recycling ratios quickly in the short term,and dynamic subsidies are more efficient than static subsidies;2)the policy of technological advancement can reduce the recovery and cascade utilization cost,thus having a positive impact on battery recycling,but the policy effect has a time-delay;3)the carbon trading policy is unable to promote efficient recycling due to the current low carbon prices;4)dynamic subsidy and technological advancement policies complement each other,therefore,the combination of these two policies is the best way to promote the recycling of retired EVBs and reduce carbon emissions.It is hoped that this study will contribute to the ongoing debate on policies for the industrialization of retired EVBs recycling.展开更多

This paper briefly introduces the maneuverable feature of the slightly inclined geosynchronous orbit (SIGSO) satellites under a new control model degraded from the geosynchronous orbit (GEO) communication satellites w...This paper briefly introduces the maneuverable feature of the slightly inclined geosynchronous orbit (SIGSO) satellites under a new control model degraded from the geosynchronous orbit (GEO) communication satellites which will retire as most of the fuel in these satellites has been consumed. Basing on the transmitting Chinese Area Positioning System (CAPS), the authors, by analyses, indicate that such satellites can make an improvement to CAPS constellation configuration, especially to the PDOP value from simulation. The results show that the use of SIGSO satellites can (1) actualize three-dimensional (3D) navigation and positioning compared with the situation, which, only using GEO satellites, cannot be carried out, and improve navigation and positioning accuracy to some extent; (2) reuse the communication services of these satellites for more years, and GEO communication satellites will be retired at a later time and delay their time to become space debris and reduce their pollution of the space environment, so that valuable space resources are maximally used. As for the use of these satellites in the transmitting positioning system, the authors present some views and suggestions in this work.展开更多

Meanwhile, some transponders on these retired satellites can be used to establish a new satellite communication service, and initiate the study and utilization of the multi-life cycle for retired satellites. The overall cross-media risk evaluation of organic pollutants in retired industrial parks is insufficiently recognized.In this study,11 semi-volatile organic compounds(SVOCs)and 27 volatile organic compounds(VOCs)were...The overall cross-media risk evaluation of organic pollutants in retired industrial parks is insufficiently recognized.In this study,11 semi-volatile organic compounds(SVOCs)and 27 volatile organic compounds(VOCs)were measured in 531 soil and groundwater samples taken from a retired industrial park by coast in Zhejiang Province,China.Total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPHs),Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate(DEHP),benzene,and ethylbenzene were identified as the critical pollutants in the soil,while TPHs,1,2-dichloropropane(1,2-DCP),toluene,benzo[a]anthracene(BaA),and benzo[b]fluoranthene(BbF)were identified as critical pollutants in the groundwater for exceeding China national standards.The spatial correlation between the concentrations of organic pollutants in soil and groundwater was explored by employing the Geodetector model.Based on the results of spatial interpolation,high-risk hotspots regarding soil and groundwater pollution were identified.Moreover,the possible harm to human health of the critical pollutants were also under evaluation.Among various critical pollutants,benzene,ethylbenzene,and DEHP in soil,and 1,2-DCP in groundwater,were the main contributors to the overall health risk of multimedia pollution.This study developed a comprehensive approach to assess the risks posed by specific organic toxicants in various environmental media.The findings of this work can serve as a valuable reference for future management strategies in retired industrial parks.展开更多

文摘Electric Vehicles(EVs),as a low-carbon means of transportation,have promptly become popular worldwide in the past decade.Since the lifespan of batteries is limited,massive of Electric Vehicle Batteries(EVBs)are being retired,resulting in a rapid increase in the demand for the recycling of retired EVBs in recent years.However,due to high recycling costs and immature recycling technologies,EV manufacturers are facing significant challenges in recycling retired EVBs.China,as the country with the largest number of EV users in the world,is exploring effective incentive policies for the recycling of retired EVBs.In this context,we developed a system dynamics model to analyze the impact of incentive polices such as,recycling subsidies,technological progress,and carbon trading on the retired EVBs recycling.Results show that:1)recycling subsidies can improve the recycling ratios quickly in the short term,and dynamic subsidies are more efficient than static subsidies;2)the policy of technological advancement can reduce the recovery and cascade utilization cost,thus having a positive impact on battery recycling,but the policy effect has a time-delay;3)the carbon trading policy is unable to promote efficient recycling due to the current low carbon prices;4)dynamic subsidy and technological advancement policies complement each other,therefore,the combination of these two policies is the best way to promote the recycling of retired EVBs and reduce carbon emissions.It is hoped that this study will contribute to the ongoing debate on policies for the industrialization of retired EVBs recycling.

文摘This paper briefly introduces the maneuverable feature of the slightly inclined geosynchronous orbit (SIGSO) satellites under a new control model degraded from the geosynchronous orbit (GEO) communication satellites which will retire as most of the fuel in these satellites has been consumed. Basing on the transmitting Chinese Area Positioning System (CAPS), the authors, by analyses, indicate that such satellites can make an improvement to CAPS constellation configuration, especially to the PDOP value from simulation. The results show that the use of SIGSO satellites can (1) actualize three-dimensional (3D) navigation and positioning compared with the situation, which, only using GEO satellites, cannot be carried out, and improve navigation and positioning accuracy to some extent; (2) reuse the communication services of these satellites for more years, and GEO communication satellites will be retired at a later time and delay their time to become space debris and reduce their pollution of the space environment, so that valuable space resources are maximally used. As for the use of these satellites in the transmitting positioning system, the authors present some views and suggestions in this work.

文摘Retired geosynchronous (GEO) communication satellites affect the GEO orbit environment in outer space. According to the new concept of modern design, the authors propose creatively a method of reusing retired GEO communication satellites, through adjusting retired GEO satellites to slightly inclined orbit geosynchronous (SIGSO) satellites. After these retired satellites are applied to the navigation and communication system, integrity of navigation system and positioning accuracy of the system is improved. Meanwhile, some transponders on these retired satellites can be used to establish a new satellite communication service, and initiate the study and utilization of the multi-life cycle for retired satellites. Experimental results show that this project has significant social value and can make remarkable economic benefit.

文摘The overall cross-media risk evaluation of organic pollutants in retired industrial parks is insufficiently recognized.In this study,11 semi-volatile organic compounds(SVOCs)and 27 volatile organic compounds(VOCs)were measured in 531 soil and groundwater samples taken from a retired industrial park by coast in Zhejiang Province,China.Total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPHs),Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate(DEHP),benzene,and ethylbenzene were identified as the critical pollutants in the soil,while TPHs,1,2-dichloropropane(1,2-DCP),toluene,benzo[a]anthracene(BaA),and benzo[b]fluoranthene(BbF)were identified as critical pollutants in the groundwater for exceeding China national standards.The spatial correlation between the concentrations of organic pollutants in soil and groundwater was explored by employing the Geodetector model.Based on the results of spatial interpolation,high-risk hotspots regarding soil and groundwater pollution were identified.Moreover,the possible harm to human health of the critical pollutants were also under evaluation.Among various critical pollutants,benzene,ethylbenzene,and DEHP in soil,and 1,2-DCP in groundwater,were the main contributors to the overall health risk of multimedia pollution.This study developed a comprehensive approach to assess the risks posed by specific organic toxicants in various environmental media.The findings of this work can serve as a valuable reference for future management strategies in retired industrial parks.
