The brain's functions are governed by molecular metabolic networks.However,due to the sophisticated spatial organization and diverse activities of the brain,characterizing both the minute and large-scale metabolic activity across the entire brain and its numerous micro-regions remains incredibly challenging.Here,we offer a high-definition spatially resolved metabolomics technique to better understand the metabolic specialization and interconnection throughout the mouse brain using improved ambient mass spectrometry imaging.This method allows for the simultaneous mapping of thousands of metabolites at a 30 μm spatial resolution across the mouse brain,ranging from structural lipids to functional neurotransmitters.This approach effectively reveals the distribution patterns of delicate microregions and their distinctive metabolic characteristics.Using an integrated database,we annotated 259 metabolites,demonstrating that the metabolome and metabolic pathways are unique to each brain microregion.The distribution of metabolites,closely linked to functionally connected brain regions and their interactions,offers profound insights into the complexity of chemical processes and their roles in brain function.An initial dataset for future metabolomics research might be obtained from the high-definition mouse brain's spatial metabolome atlas. 展开更多

Stony debris flows,characterized by coarse boulders embedded in a sediment-laden matrix,greatly amplify destructive potential by altering flow dynamics and impact forces.Conventional single-phase particle-fluidmixture models often struggle to capture the complexities introduced by coarse boulders and multi-phase interactions,while strong-coupling methods can be computationally prohibitive for practical hazard assessments.In this study,we propose a semi-hybrid,fully resolved coupling numerical framework for modeling boulder-laden debris flows.This framework conceptualizes debris flows as a composite system comprising a continuous viscous fluidphase(including finesediments)and a discrete phase of arbitrarily shaped coarse particles.The continuous phase is treated as a generalized nonlinear Coulomb-viscoplastic fluidusing the smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)method,while coarse particles are modeled via the distributed contact discrete element method(DCDEM).These two phases are coupled through an efficienttwo-way resolved scheme,ensuring accurate simulation of flow-boulder interactions within a unifiedtimeframe.We validate the proposed method against two physical experiments:(1)gravity-driven concrete flows and(2)debris flowinteracting with slit-type barriers.Results confirmthe method's robustness in accurately capturing fluid-solid-structureinteractions and deposition processes.Its capabilities are further showcased through the simulation of a stony debris-flowevent inWenchuan County,China,highlighting its promise for real-world engineering applications and validating the effectiveness of the existing cascade dam system in mitigating debrisflowimpact and energy dissipation. 展开更多

目的:比较单次激发平面回波(ss-EPI)弥散加权成像(DWI)、分段读出平面回波(rs-EPI)DWI及ZOOMit DWI这3种序列的鼻咽部图像质量,优化临床扫描方案.方法:纳入47例未经治疗的鼻咽癌患者,采用西门子Prisma 3.0 TMRI进行扫描,2名观察者通过... 目的:比较单次激发平面回波(ss-EPI)弥散加权成像(DWI)、分段读出平面回波(rs-EPI)DWI及ZOOMit DWI这3种序列的鼻咽部图像质量,优化临床扫描方案.方法:纳入47例未经治疗的鼻咽癌患者,采用西门子Prisma 3.0 TMRI进行扫描,2名观察者通过主客观评价分析图像质量.客观指标包括信噪比(SNR)、对比度信噪比(CNR)及病灶测量一致性;主观评分采用Likert的4分表对图像病灶显示、伪影、几何变形、锐利度、整体质量、诊断信心分别进行评价.结果:2名观察者所有主观评分rs-EPI DWI及ZOOMit DWI均优于ss-EPI DWI(除了观察者2对ZOOMit DWI和ss-EPI DWI的病灶显示评价P=0.058,其余均P<0.05).rs-EPI DWI与ZOOMit DWI在病灶显示、整体质量及诊断信心方面无显著差异(P>0.05).ZOOMit DWI SNR 和 CNR显著低于 ss-EPI DWI及 rs-EPI DWI(P≤0.002).ss-EPI DWI 的病灶径线测量与参考序列(T2WI-FS)存在显著偏差(P<0.05),而rs-EPI DWI和ZOOMit DWI测量一致性更高(P>0.05).结论:rs-EPI DWI综合性能优异,兼顾图像质量与定量准确性,推荐作为鼻咽部磁敏感伪影敏感区域的常规序列. 展开更多

This work investigated the effects of grain size(GS)on individual slip mode activities and the corresponding Hall-Petch coefficients in a rolled basal-textured pure Mg sheet under uniaxial tension using statistical slip trace analysis and electron backscatter diffraction.The studied regions covered a total of 1150 grains,in which 136 sets of slip traces were identified and analyzed in detail.The basalslip always dominated the deformation,whose frequencies decreased(from 81.0%to 62.5%)with increasing GS(from 10 to 85μm).The prismaticslip activity increased from 10.8%(10μm)to 27.5%(85μm),while that for pyramidal II<c+a>slip was almost constant.Critical resolved shear stress(CRSS)ratios were estimated based on the identified slip activity statistics,and then the Hall-Petch coefficients(k)of individual slip modes were calculated.The k value for prismaticslip(194 MPa·μm^(1/2))was lower than that for pyramidal II<c+a>slip(309 MPa·μm^(1/2)),which implies that pyramidal II<c+a>slip was more GS sensitive.Twinning activity exhibited a positive correlation with GS,though it remained limited partly due to the unfavorable loading direction.The macroscopic Hall-Petch relationship was divided into two regions,i.e.,the k value(753 MPa·μm^(1/2))for the coarse-grain region(30-85μm)was significantly larger than that(118 MPa·μm^(1/2))of the fine-grain region(10-30μm),which could be attributed to the transition of predominant deformation mechanisms from slip to slip combined twinning with increasing GS.This work provides detailed and quantitative experimental data of the GS effects on individual slip activities of Mg and provides new insights into the Hall-Petch relationship for individual slip modes. 展开更多

In hypersonic boundary layers,the optimal disturbance is notably caused by normalmode instabilities,such as Mack second mode.However,recent experimental and numerical efforts have demonstrated the dominance of nonmodal growth in hypersonic flows with the presence of moderate nose bluntness.In this study,resolvent analysis and parabolized stability equation analysis are performed to investigate the instabilities over a blunt-tip wedge.Main parameters include Mach number 5.9,unit Reynolds number 91.5×10~6/m,half wedge angle 5°,and nose radii ranging from 2.54 mm to 15.24 mm.Two novel growth patterns of travelling waves are identified to compete,whose nature is the intersection of the energy gain of optimal and sub-optimal disturbances.Pattern A with large spanwise wavelengths has the signature of slow energy amplification over a long distance which concentrates in the entropy layer.By contrast,pattern B with relatively small spanwise wavelengths presents rapid transient growth inside the boundary layer.A systematic study is performed on the growth/attenuation mechanism of disturbance patterns and the effects of wall temperature and nose radius.Wall cooling is found to be an alternative control strategy aimed at nonmodal instabilities.The receptivity to slow acoustic waves is considered when the effect of bluntness is studied.An estimated amplitude response favorably reproduces the reversal-like phenomenon.The lift-up/Orr mechanism analysis provides an explanation of energy growth for nonmodal responses. 展开更多

Measuring Reaction Rates for Heterogeneous Catalysis

Heterogeneous catalysis on solid surfaces provides high-value chemicals and is involved in a large fraction of the world’s economic productivity,yet our understanding of this important class of processes remains limited.Thermal reaction rates obtained from experiments on mod-el catalysts provide quantitative data that can reveal reaction mechanisms and provide benchmarks for computational simulations of catalytic processes.This perspective describes a critical advance in measuring these rates:velocity resolved kinetics(VRK).VRK delivers ab-solute rates for elementary surface reactions that are of sufficient accuracy that they may be meaningfully compared to theoretical rate predictions,creating a powerful synergy between theory and experiment.It is now routinely possible to derive fundamental thermochemical quantities,including desorption and adsorption energies,reaction barrier heights,diffusion barrier heights,and lateral adsorbate interaction energies.Reaction mechanisms can also be revealed and reaction intermediates directly detected.The high time resolution of VRK al-lows study of catalytic reactions at the high temperatures typical of conditions present in real catalytic reactors.Current work exploiting the newest and by far the most powerful variant of VRK has only scratched the surface of what is possible,signifying a promising future for re-searchers in this field. 展开更多

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis(GPA)poses significant therapeutic challenges due to its susceptibility to concurrent infections and frequent relapses.Professor SHI Zaixiang proposed the therapeutic theory of lifting depression and removing blood stasis,resolving phlegm and dispelling nodulation for GPA management.He identified the core pathogenesis as“Qi collapse with collateral obstruction and phlegm-stasis intermingling”,establishing the treatment principle of comprehensive intervention through ascending ancestral Qi,activating blood circulation,and resolving phlegm-stasis nodules.In clinical practice,Professor SHI emphasizes maintaining immune homeostasis with herbal medicine to enhance efficiency,while dynamically balancing Qi,blood,Yin,and Yang.Notably,he highlights the critical role of emotional factors in autoimmune disease progression.A representative case was provided to elucidate his clinical reasoning in GPA treatment. 展开更多
