It is within this framework that the state and its partners have adopted strategies to promote irrigated production sites. This study was carried out on the Konni irrigated perimeter, the objective of which is to analyze the physical state of hydraulic infrastructures and their operation before the rehabilitation of the said perimeter. The methodology adopted consisted, first of all, of documentary research focused on data relating to this scope and our theme to properly guide the collection of data in the field. The field phase was then followed with an observation of hydraulic infrastructures one by one in order to assess their condition. Thus, the collected data was processed and analyzed. The results of this study show a notable deterioration of hydraulic infrastructure which affected the operating yield of the study area, with the development of barely 700 ha out of 1226 ha planned by the basic study for off-season production (57%). Bathymetric measurements showed that the volume of sediment that accumulated in the Zongo Dam is 1.2 million m3, which reduces its initial capacity from 12 million m3 to 10.8 million m3 after 43 years of service. The expansion joints of the feed canal are all in poor condition. 90% of the total length of the tertiary canals are degraded, 82.32% of the panels of the main canal C are degraded and 17.68% are cracked. All crossing structures are blocked between the RN1 and the Zongo dam. Based on this critical situation, it would be essential to consider rehabilitation work on all infrastructure in order to restore the hydraulic and even agronomic performance of the Konni irrigated area.展开更多

A total of 15 participants (7 males, 8 females, ages ranging from 20 to 78 years) diagnosed with mild-to-moderate TBI underwent 10 sessions of combined therapy. Cognitive performance was assessed using standardized neuropsychological tests before and after treatment, measuring cognitive processing speed, neural responsiveness, and executive function. The results demonstrated significant improvements across all metrics, including a 28.3 ms reduction in P300 latency, a 1.2 mV increase in P300 voltage, and reductions in completion times for the Trail-Making Tests A (14 seconds) and B (19 seconds). These findings suggest that multi-modality therapy may enhance cognitive recovery in TBI patients, with notable benefits across age and gender groups. Further research with larger sample sizes and extended follow-up is required to validate these results and explore their broader clinical applications.展开更多

Muscle deconditioning is associated with increased mortality, infections, depression, and reductions in patient mobility and ability to engage in their activities of daily living. Preserving muscle strength and function should form part of patients’ rehabilitation plans. Progressive resistance training (PRE) offers the most cost-effective way of preserving muscle strength and function;however, it is not routinely carried out in hospitals. A leg strengthening device (the S-Press) has been developed with the aim of improving access to effective PRE for adults. Using a qualitative approach, thematic analysis of interviews with physiotherapists, patients, and relative carers about their experience of using the S-Press provided insight into integrating PRE into patients’ rehabilitation, what promoted or prevented its use, and the outcomes associated with its use. Four overall themes emerged from the data. “Experience of Users” described that the S-Press was accessible, convenient, time efficient, portable, and manoeuvrable, and it provided an objective measure of progress. “Facilitators” included findings around how the S-Press was easy to use, motivational, and comfortable when in use. “Barriers” comprised the inability of some patients to use the S-Press independently and the identification of obstacles that prevented consistent use. “Impact and Benefits” represented the perceptions of increased leg strength and psychological benefits. The S-Press is beneficial for patients’ rehabilitation by offering PRE that is simple and easy to use, acceptable to both patients and professionals, and can be integrated as part of patients’ rehabilitation plans.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND Rotator cuff tears are a chief cause of shoulder pain and disability, and surgical repair is often required when conservative management fails. As digital health technologies have expanded, especially since the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, digitally augmented rehabilitation programs emerged as a potential alternative to conventional physical therapy.AIM To determine if digitally assisted rehabilitation could be as practical,or even more effective, than the traditional methods most patients currently follow.METHODS Six electronic databases, including PubMed,Scopus,Cochrane Library,Google Scholar,EMBASE,and Web of Science, were searched to find articles that compare digital-based rehabilitation and conventional treatment.Outcomes of interest were Disabilities of the Arm,Shoulder and Hand(DASH)score and range of motion. The quality assessment of the included studies was performed using the risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials tool.RESULTS Three randomized controlled trial studies were enrolled in this study, including 195 cases. We did not find any significant differences between the two groups in terms of DASH score, flexion range of motion, and external rotation range of motion. There was a significant difference between the two groups for abduction range of motion.CONCLUSION Digital home-based rehab seems to be a strong alternative to traditional methods, offering similar results for people recovering from rotator cuff surgery. This approach might also make rehab more accessible and engaging for patients. That said, further research is needed to fully understand the potential of digital rehabilitation and ensure it works effectively for everyone.
文摘Severe aortic stenosis has increased exponentially as a result of the aging of the population.Transcatheter aortic valve replacement(TAVR)procedures increase by 20%-30%per year in Spain.Referred patients are increasingly older, have comorbidities, and frailty.TAVR cardiac rehabilitation(CR)programs significantly improve both functional capacity and quality of life of patients. However, there are no guidelines on how to carry out them and few elderly patients are referred to CR.Furthermore, mortality in women who undergo TAVR is higher than in men and even fewer are referred to CR programs.Multidisciplinary patient care, including comorbidities and frailty,is essential. It is necessary to ensure exquisite continuity of care during TAVR,CR,and the rest of the patient's life.Telerehabilitation could be an option in some lower-risk patients to include more patients in CR programs after TAVR,given the high demand. This article reviews the evidence on why CR should be performed in post-TAVR patients and proposes a practical and novel approach to the care process and the recommended aspects and components of the CR program.

文摘This editorial highlights a recently published study examining the effectiveness of music therapy combined with motivational interviewing(MI)in addressing an-xiety and depression among young and middle-aged patients following percuta-neous coronary intervention. It further explores existing evidence and potential future research directions for MI in postoperative rehabilitation and chronic disease management.MI aims to facilitate behavioral change and promote healthier lifestyles by fostering a trusting relationship with patients and enhan-cing intrinsic motivation.Research has demonstrated its effectiveness in posto-perative recovery for oncological surgery, stroke, organ transplants, and gastroin-testinal procedures,as well as in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and periodontal disease. The approach is patient-centered,adaptable,cost-effective,and easily replicable, though its limitations include reliance on the therapist’s expertise, variability in individual responses, and insufficient long-term follow-up studies.Future research could focus on developing individualized and precise intervention models, exploring applications in digital health management, and confirming long-term outcomes to provide more compre-hensive support for patient rehabilitation.
文摘Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and user satisfaction of the MAIA^(TM)telemedicine platform for postoperative telemonitoring and telerehabilitation in patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy(RARP).Methods:Patients undergoing RARP(from April 2022 to January 2023)were divided into Group A,following the standard rehabilitation protocol, and Group B using the MAIA^(TM)platform for the first 30-day post-intervention period.Perioperative, pathological, and functional variables(continence and potency rates, assessed via validated questionnaires)were collected and telerehabilitation protocol’s adherence was monitored. The telerehabilitation system included an online platform for medical providers and a patient application, facilitating data acquisition, management, treatment planning, and monitoring.Patient and provider satisfactionwere evaluated using the visual analogue scale score and validated telemedicine satisfaction questionnaire.Results:Totally,227 patients were enrolled. No differences in perioperative or pathological variables were found.Group B had higher potency recovery rates than Group A(p=0.031);the potency recovery rates at 1 month and 3 months for Group B were 45%and 57%,respectively,and in Group A were 34%and 48%,respectively.At the multivariate analysis,MAIA^(TM)use and the nerve-sparing(NS)were independent predictors of erectile function at both 1 month(MAIA^(TM)use:odd ratio[OR]2.03,95%confidence interval[CI]1.13-3.63,p=0.018;NS:OR 2.08,95%CI 1.06-4.12,p=0.034)and 3 months(MAIA^(TM)use:OR 1.89,95%CI 1.07-3.34,p=0.028;NS:OR 1.90;95%CI 1.02-3.54,p=0.044).Adherencemonitoring revealed 4.6%of patients in Group B reported exercise issues due to pelvic pain onset and 10%did not take oral phosphodiesterase 5-inhibitors due to myalgia. All those patients restarted the rehabilitation program after televisit to address the causing problem, allowing restarting of a rehabilitation program.Patients reported high satisfaction with the MAIA^(TM)platform use(mean visual analogue scale score:88.7).Conclusion:The MAIA^(TM)telemedicine platform seems to have a role in optimizing early potency recovery after RARP.Patient and provider satisfaction levels were high, emphasizing the user-friendliness of the platform.
文摘In Niger, irrigated agriculture constitutes the main alternative for meeting family needs. Based on this critical situation, it would be essential to consider rehabilitation work on all infrastructure in order to restore the hydraulic and even agronomic performance of the Konni irrigated area.
文摘This study investigates the combined effects of multi-modality therapy, including mild hyperbaric therapy (mHBT), photobiomodulation (PBM), and molecular hydrogen therapy (MH), on cognitive rehabilitation in individuals with mild-to-moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI). Further research with larger sample sizes and extended follow-up is required to validate these results and explore their broader clinical applications.
文摘BACKGROUND Stroke is a leading cause of long-term disability worldwide, and limb motor dysfunction is one of the most common complications affecting the quality of life of patients.AIM To investigate the rehabilitation effects of conventional rehabilitation training combined with electromyographic biofeedback therapy on limb motor dysfunction in stroke survivors.METHODS This observational retrospective cohort study included 60 stroke survivors who underwent post-stroke rehabilitation training in the rehabilitation department of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University(Qingdao)from May 2023 to July 2024.The medical records of the patients were assessed.Eligible patients(N=60)were divided into two groups on the basis of the type of rehabilitation training received:Conventional rehabilitation alone(control group,n=30)and conventional rehabilitation combined with electromyographic biofeedback therapy(biofeedback group,n=30).Upper and lower limb motor function, wrist extension, balance ability, and ankle dorsiflexion range of motion were evaluated before treatment and at 4 weeks and 8 weeks post-treatment by reviewing the patients’electronic medical records.RESULTS At 4 weeks and 8 weeks post-treatment,the biofeedback group showed significantly better Fugl-Meyer assessment scores,Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale scores,Hamilton Depression Rating Scale scores,Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale scores, and wrist and ankle active range of motion scores than the control group.CONCLUSION Electromyographic biofeedback therapy combined with conventional rehabilitation can effectively improve upper and lower limb motor function, balance ability, activities of daily living, wrist extension, and ankle dorsiflexion dysfunction in patients post-stroke,with better efficacy than conventional rehabilitation alone.
文摘Rehabilitation for patients with chronic physical conditions, such as stroke, spinal cord injury, and fibromyalgia,is predominantly focused on physical recovery, often neglecting the affective and social dimensions crucial for comprehensive health outcomes. This oversight contributes to a significant mental health burden, with up to40%of rehabilitating patients experiencing depression or anxiety. This perspective article reviews evidence from social and affective neuroscience to highlight the urgent need to integrate well-being as a central component of rehabilitation. We propose a holistic rehabilitation model that includes psychological, affective, and social interventions alongside physical therapies. This model draws on existing studies demonstrating that emotional resilience and social support are key predictors of successful rehabilitation outcomes.Patients with strong social and affective well-being are more likely to adhere to treatment protocols and achieve better physical recovery.Conversely, neglecting these dimensions can exacerbate mental health conditions, leading to what we identify as a"second wave"of health crises—mental health conditions triggered by chronic physical ailments.By adopting this holistic approach, healthcare systems can improve immediate rehabilitation outcomes, prevent the long-term escalation of mental health issues, and reduce the overall burden on global mental health services, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for patients worldwide.
文摘Muscle deconditioning due to hospitalisation is problematic, causing delayed discharges, more nursing, carer, or social service support following discharge, and possible discharge to a care home rather than the patient’s own home. The S-Press is beneficial for patients’ rehabilitation by offering PRE that is simple and easy to use, acceptable to both patients and professionals, and can be integrated as part of patients’ rehabilitation plans.
