The controllability of environmental conditions, the high reproducibility, the ease of scale and the comparability of results, as well as the ability to use different standards for ethical protocols, all make an animal model the ideal tool for carrying out studies on human diseases and the development of novel pharmaceuticals and new therapies (Xue et al., 2014). An ideal animal model should reflect the complete spectra of a specific human disease, with similar features on the following key issues: (1) genetic basis; (2) anatomy and physiology; (3) pathological response(s) and underlying mechanism(s); (4) phenotypic endpoints as clinical studies; (5) responsiveness to known drugs with clinical efficacy; and (6) prediction of clinical efficacy (McGonigle and Ruggeri, 2014).展开更多

The results showed that 24 h-EC 50 , 48 h-LC 50 and 96 h-LC 50 of bifenthrin on D. magna were 3.24, 12.40 and 1.40 μg/L respectively. And the LOEC and NOEC of bifenthrin were 0.02 and 0.004 μg/L respectively. The recovery test of bifenthrin on Daphnia magna was presented. Daphnia magna(F 0 generation) were exposed during 21 d to different bifenthrin concentrations. Offspring(animals from the first and third brood: F 1(1st) and F 1(3rd), respectively) were transferred to a free pesticide medium during a 21 d recovery period. In this recovery study, survival, growth, reproduction(mean total young per female, onset of reproduction and number broods per female) and the intrinsic rate of natural increase (r) were assessed as parameters. Reproduction such as number of young per female as well as length was still reduced in F 1(1st) generation daphnids from parentals(F 0) exposed to the bifenthrin. However F 1(3rd) individuals from parentals exposed to pesticide concentrations were able to restore reproduction when a recovery period of 21 d was allowed, but the length of F 1(3rd) from parentals exposed to the 0.5 and 0.75 μg/L bifenthrin concentration was still significantly effected(P<0.05).展开更多

Therefore, we analyze archaeobotanical, zooarchaeological and carbon isotopic data from late Neolithic and Bronze Age sites in agricultural, pastoral, and agro-pastoral regions of north China. Our results demonstrate human subsistence strategies transformed at different speeds in these three geographic areas after wheat, barley, and sheep, goats, and cattle were introduced into north China. Introduced crops and livestock dominated human livelihoods in pastoral regions and became important subsistence in areas above ~1500 m a.s.l. in agro-pastoral regions after ~3600 BP. In agricultural regions, indigenous millet crops were the most important subsistence throughout 6000– 2200 BP, but wheat use increased significantly around 2700 BP. Our study suggests that the introduction of new crops and herbivorous livestock related to the prehistoric trans-Eurasian exchange, and their adaptive advantage in high-cold environments might have rapidly facilitated human adaptability and social development in pastoral regions and northwest margin of agro-pastoral regions during the Bronze Age.展开更多

It is Michigan model. 1st definition relates HRM with strategic management. i.e., HRM affects firm-level strategies. Second definition is made by Wright and McMahan (1992). It relates HRM with performance. There exists direct relations between HRM and firm performance. Innovation capability of human resources provides of linear relation between HR and performance. HR make innovations, and it increases firm performance. This is linear relations in American HRM (HR (innovation)→ performance). This study makes 3rd definition in SHRM. It relates performance with HR systems. Accordingly, HR applies HR systems in organizations that increases employee’s individual performance. and individual performance has impact on firm performance. In 3rd definition there is relation between HR system and performance through individual performance. Moderator is individual performance.展开更多

Within recent years a variety of modern endoscopic imaging techniques was introduced to improve adenoma detection rates. Those include high-definition imaging, dye-less chromoendoscopy techniques and novel, highly flexible endoscopes, some of themequipped with balloons or multiple lenses in order to improve adenoma detection rates. In this review we will focus on the newest developments in the field of colonoscopic imaging to improve adenoma detection rates. Described techniques include high-definition imaging, optical chromoendoscopy techniques, virtual chromoendoscopy techniques, the Third Eye Retroscope and other retroviewing devices, the G-EYE endoscope and the Full Spectrum Endoscopy-system.展开更多

We use statistical entropy to link fine-structure constant (ct) and cosmological constant, showing mystical number 137 (as reciprocal of increasing entropy of the universe) as negative entropy needed for life to exist. If our computational route applies to the physical universe, it should apply to life. Molecular biology is searching for the fundamental source of information that would link to the information in DNA.展开更多
