In the early hours of August 18 in 2022,a mountain flood disaster occurred in Datong Hui and Tu Autonomous County,Xining City,Qinghai Province,resulting in 31 deaths.This typical incident of multiple casualties resulting from a mountain flood disaster caused by heavy precipitation.In this paper,the mountain flood disaster was analyzed from three aspects,the distribution of the observation station network,assessment of minute-level precipitation,and quantitative precipitation estimated by Xining radar data during August 17-18,2022.It aims to identify the critical gap in comprehensive monitoring systems,and explore effective monitoring methods and estimation algorithms of minute-level quantitative precipitation.Moreover,subsequent defense countermeasures were proposed.These findings offer significant guidance for enhancing meteorological disaster prevention capabilities,strengthening the first line of defense in disaster prevention and mitigation,and supporting evidence-based decision-making for local governments and flood control departments. 展开更多

Geochemical characteristics and source analysis of rare earth elements in Qinghai Lake sediments

This study investigates the distribution,geochemical behavior,and potential anthropogenic influences of rare earth elements(REEs)in the surface sediments of Qinghai Lake,the largest saline lake in China.A total of 36 surface sediment samples were analyzed for REE concentrations with a combination of self-organizing maps(SOM)and positive matrix factorization(PMF).Results indicate distinct enrichment patterns,with light REEs(LREEs)exhibiting higher concentrations than heavy REEs(HREEs),reflecting natural abundances and geochemical behaviors.The minimum value was found in Lu as low as 0.091 mg/kg,and the maximum concentration was exhibited in Ce at 78.877 mg/kg.Geoaccumulation index(I_(geo))analysis reveals minor to moderate enrichment of specific REEs of Sm and Nd,suggesting possible localized anthropogenic inputs,particularly near river mouths.Spatial analysis using inverse distance weighting(IDW)and self-organizing maps(SOM)highlights significant correlations between REE distributions and riverine inputs,underscoring fluvial transport's role in sedimentary REE dynamics.PMF identifies mixed natural and anthropogenic sources,with agricultural and industrial activities contributing to elevated REE levels in sediment.These findings provide critical insights into the geochemical behavior of REEs in saline lake systems and off er a foundation for pollution control and sustainable resource management in sensitive environments like Qinghai Lake. 展开更多

Permafrost Degradation Threatening the Qinghai-Xizang Railway

The thawing and warming of ice-rich permafrost present a considerable threat to the long-term stability of the Qinghai-Xizang Railway(QXR)on the roof of the world—that is,the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau(QXP).In this review,we explore the extent of the observed permafrost degradation and embankment damage under the coupled impacts of climate change and engineering construction.The ice-rich permafrost beneath the embankment presents a substantial threat to the thermal-mechanical stability of the embankment due to the permafrost’s accelerated and amplified degradation.The observed embankment deformation has a potential high risk of thaw settlement,especially for 656 embankment-bridge sections,whose potential high risk of thaw settlement may be as great as 25%.Several techniques for roadbed cooling can be used to alleviate these impacts,including crushed rock structure embankments(CRSEs),thermosyphons,and reinforcement measures,which have been demonstrated to be successful in cooling the underlying permafrost and stabilizing an embankment.Under future climate change and permafrost degradation,however,the QXR still faces a high risk of embankment damage caused by permafrost degradation and requires more effective methods to reinforce the thermal-mechanical stability of permafrost.Therefore,a better understanding of such high-risk regions is needed,and roadbed cooling techniques will require further adaption in order to address the issues brought by climate change. 展开更多

Kashin-Beck disease(KBD)is a regionally endemic chronic osteoarthropathy,while osteoarthritis(OA)is a degenerative joint disease characterized by progressive articular cartilage degradation and extracellular matrix remodeling.Although KBD and OA share overlapping clinical and pathological features,key differences exist in their etiology and disease progression.KBD preferentially affects children aged 3-12 years,whereas OA predominantly affects older individuals between the age of 40-60 years.KBD cartilage necrosis originates in the deep layers of the epiphyseal plate and articular cartilage,progressing toward the cartilage surface.In contrast,OA cartilage destruction initiates at the articular cartilage surface and gradually progresses to expose the subchondral bone[1,2]. 展开更多

The paper aims to study the impacts and countermeasures of climate change on animal husbandry in Qinghai plateau and its surrounding area,and evaluate the effect of countermeasures.Results showed that:First,the annual mean temperature,annual mean maximum temperature and annual mean minimum temperature showed an increasing trend in Qinghai plateau during the time from 1961 to 2008; the annual precipitation had not obvious change,but the obvious feature of seasonal change; wind speed and sunshine hours showed a decreasing trend during the time from 1961 to 2008.Secondly,under the current climate condition,grassland productivity showed a decreasing trend,and the grassland theoretical capacity affected by grassland productivity decreased too; warm winter was in favor of livestock overwintering safely,which resulted in a high level of the survival rate of young stock; temperature increasing and precipitation decreasing were beneficial to the fatness of livestock,but the meat yield of livestock was affected by some negative factors such as grassland degradation; livestock diseases had a close relationship with weather condition,and adverse weather condition may arose many diseases of livestock.Thirdly,in view of the current problems of livestock production,we took a series of countermeasures including grass industry construction,livestock improvement,developing new modes of animal husbandry,control and prevention of stockbreeding diseases and insect pests and recovery of meteorological disasters,which played a important role in promoting grassland productivity,solving the problem of the imbalances between livestock and forage,protecting the ecological environment and improving livestock performance. 展开更多

[Result] The positive rate of goat sera was 16.3%,and the positive rate of sera from different regions ranged from 6.7% to 24.3%. [Conclusion] The infection rate of Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. Impact Assessment of Climate Change on Haidong Agricultural Region in Qinghai and Its Adaptive Countermeasures 被引量:2

[Objective] The aim was to study climate changes and its effects on agriculture in Haidong agricultural region.[Method] Based on meteorology and agricultural observation data in Haidong agricultural region from 1961 to 2009,the characteristics of climate change and its effects on agriculture were analyzed,and the possible effects of future climate change on Haidong agriculture were predicted according to the future climate scenarios provided by down-scaling climate model.[Result] Annual mean temperature in Haidong agricultural region during 1961-2009 showed obvious increase trend,with the rising rate of 0.37 ℃/10 a;annual mean precipitation and annual total sunshine duration went down slightly,with the climatic tendency of 3.70 mm/10 a and-27.55 h/10 a,respectively;climate extreme event occurred less frequently but became severer in recent 49 years.In future 100 years,temperature in Haidong agricultural region would go up significantly,with the slight increase of rainfall,and climate changes would affect agricultural production environment,arrangement,structure and productivity,namely increasing yield fluctuation of agricultural production,cost and investment and changing arrangement and structure.In order to adapt climate change,it was necessary to adjust agricultural structure,strengthen management,improve agricultural infrastructure,adopt new technology,increase the resistance ability of agricultural production to climate change actively and designedly,so as to improve adaptability,furthest reduce loss and realize potential benefit.[Conclusion] Our study could provide references for the decision of government and agricultural sector. 展开更多

Under the influence of the natural and human factors, water table of irri- gated area Changes frequently, but it is mainly affected by irrigation water infiltration replenishment during the irrigation. 5 groundwater observation wells were constructed in experimental plot of the Daxia irrigated area to carry out the experiment of the effect of irrigation on groundwater dynamic change in this research. The results showed that the groundwater stage dynarnic change rule of spring and seedling irri- gation stage in the typical plot was fit to the hydrological geology condition of grade- I terrace of Huangshui river valley. On the whole, lateral canal water direction formed a line effect. The No. 1 and No. 2 observation well were the closest to the lateral canal, which received more supplies, and the water level was the highest; the No, 3 observation well took the second place; The No. 4 and No. 5 observation well accepted least supplies, and the water level was the lowest. The rangeability of water table of spring irrigation period was significantly higher than that of seedling irrigation period, this is mainly due to the difference value of intake water volume and drainage water volume of spring irrigation phase was significantly higher than the seedling irrigation phase. 展开更多

Qinghai Lake Watershed (QLW) is a hot place of a series of ecological restoration and environmental remediation programs nowadays.However,little information is available on change of ecosystem service and economic practice in this area.As ecosystem service and natural capital are closely related with social and economic development,an index of concordance between environment and economy (ICEE) has been proposed to compare the annual variation rate of ecosystem service value (RESV) with that of gross domestic product (RGDP).Using this Index,we have assessed concordance between environment and economy (CEE) for the QLW in the period 1977-2004.The result showed that from 1977 to 2004,the ecosystem service value in the QLW descended from 128.81×10 8 yuan to 127.32×10 8 yuan;In contrast,the GDP increased from 0.931×10 8 yuan to 8.856×10 8 yuan.The values of the I CEE were -1.14,-0.22,and -0.14 in the stages of 1977-1987,1987-2000 and 2000-2004,respectively.The result indicated that during the first stage 1977-1987,the relationship between environment and economy in the QLW was not concordant but at a high conflict;from 1987 to 2004,there was a low conflict between environment and economy,and the CEE appeared to increase slowly.Analysis of the assessment results showed that the national policies and industrial adjustment practice play an important role in the CEE changes. 展开更多

Qinghai Province is an important component of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China. Scientific evaluation of the suitability of Qinghai's climate for tourism can contribute to overcoming obstacles posed by climate on sustainable tourism development in Qinghai Province, including disparities between the low and high seasons, high altitude health concerns, and weather events. A tourism climate suitability evaluation model of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is constructed (Tourism Climate Suitability Index, or TCSI), and tourism climate suitability is comprehensively evaluated for Qinghai Province from climate data from 1960 to 2009. Results show that: (I) There is clear distributional characteristics of spatial-temporal variability of TCSI values in Qinghai Province. (II) Tourism climate suitability in Qinghai Province has significant seasonal and regional differences. The year is divided into a very suitable period (July and August), suitable tourism periods (from April and October), less suitable periods (From Nov to Mar). June to August is the most suitable tourism period in Qinghai. Qinghai Province is divided into five levels of tourism climate suitability: most suitable regions, very suitable regions, suitable regions, less suitable regions, and unsuitable region. (III) The key factor which influences regional differences in tourism climatic suitability is atmospheric oxygen. And the key factors which chiefly influence seasonal differences of tourism climate suitability are temperature and humidity, the wind chill factor, and barrier weather. 展开更多
