Ea...This paper presents a novel scheme of high efficiency spreading spectrum modulation using double orthogonal complex sequences (DoCS). In this scheme, input data bit-stream is split into many groups with length M. Each group is then mapped into a word of width M and then utihzed to select one sequence from 2u-2 DoCS sequences each with length L. After that, the selected sequence is modulated on carrier in quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) mode. In addition, a new method named forward phase correction (FPC) is put forward for carrier recovery. Theoretical analysis and bit-error-ratio(BER) experiment results indicate that the proposed scheme has better performance than the conventional direct sequence spread spectrum(DSSS) scheme both in bandwidth efficiency and processing gain of the receiver.展开更多

Extension of transform domain filtering techniques to the lapped biorthogonal transform domain can help solve the problem. By incorporating biorthogonality into the lapped transforms, more flexibility is obtained in the design of windows. Thus transform bases with better stopband attenuation can be generated by designing windows, but not by increasing the overlapping factor. In this paper, a new modulated lapped biorthogonal transform (MLBT) with optimized windows is introduced for efficient compression of multi-tone interfering signal energy. The bit error rate (BER) performance of the receiver employing the proposed MLBT excision technique is analyzed and compared with that of the lapped transform domain excision-based receivers. Simulation results demonstrate the improved performance and increased robustness of the proposed technique.展开更多

In order to apply soft decision QPSK modulation based on PCSS system,the correlation of superposition PN sequences is discussed. A weighted summation algorithm is adopted in QPSK demodulation to recover the whole orthogonal correlation of the superposition sequences; meanwhile the bit error rate of weighting soft decision QPSK modulation is simulated. The simulation results show that the bit error rate performance of proposed soft decision QPSK modulation based on PCSS system is better than that of hard decision modulation. Reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)-assisted symbiotic radio is a spectrum-and energy-efficient communication paradigm,in which an RIS performs passive beamforming to enhance active transmission,while using the el...Reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)-assisted symbiotic radio is a spectrum-and energy-efficient communication paradigm,in which an RIS performs passive beamforming to enhance active transmission,while using the electromagnetic waves from the active transmission for additional information transfer(i.e.,passive transmission).In this paper,a hybrid RIS-based modulation,termed hybrid phase and code modulation(HPCM),is proposed to improve the reliability of RIS-assisted symbiotic radio.In RIS-HPCM,the RIS simultaneously performs direct sequence spread spectrum and passive beamforming on incident signals.Moreover,both the spreading code and phase offset are exploited to carry the RIS’s own information.A low-complexity detector is designed,in which the receiver first detects the spreading codes and then demodulates the constellation symbols.We analyze the bit error rate(BER)performance of RIS-HPCM over Rician fading channels.BER upper bounds and approximate BER expressions are derived in closed-form for maximum-likelihood and low-complexity detectors,respectively.Simulation results in terms of BER verify the analysis and show the superiority of RIS-HPCM over the existing RIS-based modulation.展开更多

Both linear chirp signals and combined chirp signals are used in this system to reduce the effect of the cross correlation, and simplify the complexity of the system. The optimal scheme of de- signing both linear chirp signals and combined chirp signals is discussed to minimize the value of the cross correlation and obtain a better system performance. Simulation results show that, compared with the binary orthogonal chirp modulation technique, the M-ary chirp modulation technique based on an optimal chirp signal set has a higher data rate with a reasonable bit-error rate (BER) perform- ance under both additive white gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and indoor wireless channel.展开更多

In this scheme, the 64 AOC sequences picked up from 84 complex sequences space are employed for spreading spectrum. In modulation, 6 input bits is used to select one AOC sequence, and the selected sequence is then phase-rotated by another 2 input bits. In demodulator, a complex correlator detects the transmitted AOC sequence. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better BER performance than the existing complementary code keying (CCK) modulation scheme. For AOC, additional processing gain of 1.79dB can be obtained when the sequence length is 8.展开更多

Then, three code recognition algorithms are presented for dual N-ary orthogonal hybrid modulation system and the analytic bit error rate (BER) performance of the system in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and fiat Rayleigh fading channel is derived. Finally, the computer simulation of the system with three code recognition algorithms is performed, which shows that the simplified maximum a posteriori (MAP) algorithm is the best for the system with a compromise between the performance and the complexity.展开更多

Direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) communication possesses low probability of detection and has been widely used in confidential communications. However, pseudo-noise (PN) sequences, used as spreading code in ...Direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) communication possesses low probability of detection and has been widely used in confidential communications. However, pseudo-noise (PN) sequences, used as spreading code in conventional DSSS communications, possess peri- odic character and binary value. In hostile environments, these distinct characters may lead to some important parameters of signals being estimated accurately, and then lead to the leakage of transmitted information. To solve the problem, we propose the chaotic phase modulation (CPM) sequence alternating the PN sequences. CPM sequence has complex values and constant envelope, and also possesses large quantity and good correlation characteristics. Moreover, it has more hidden features than conventional sequences by modulating its phases using chaotic sequence. To improve the data rate, we apply it into the technique of multichannel communica-tion. Simulation results show this scheme's superior bit error ratio (BER) performance, which demonstrates its feasibility in underwater acoustic communications.展开更多
