A hemispherecone nose-tip with the combinatorial configuration is investigated numerically in hypersonic free stream. Some numerical results are validated by experiments. The flow field parameters, aerodynamic force and surface heat flux distribution are obtained. The influence of the opposing jet stagnation pressure on cooling efficiency of the combinatorial TPS is discussed. The detailed numerical results show that the aerodynamic heating is reduced remarkably by the combinatorial system. The recirculation region plays a pivotal role for the reduction of heat flux. The larger the stagnation pressure of opposing jet is, the more the heating reduction is. This kind of combinatorial system is suitable to be the TPS for the high-speed vehicles which need long-range and long time flight.展开更多

Water stress during grain filling results in decreased grain yeild, but its mechanism generating and scavenging the active oxygen is unclear under continuance of the water stress. The experiment was carried out in growth chamber to investigate the effects of water stress on the production of superoxide free radical (O2), hydrogen peroxide (H202), malondialdehyde (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH), ascorbic acid (AsA), and antioxidative enzyme activities in three rice hybrids with differing drought resistant under both normal and drought conditions during grain-filling stage. The results showed that water stress aggravated the membrane lipid peroxidation in rice leaves, which was more severe in less drought resistant hybrids than that in more tolerant ones. Also O2' and H2O2 accumulated more rapidly in less drought resistant hybrids than that in more tolerant ones. During water stress, decreases of GSH, AsA, chlorophyll, and relative water contents in more drought resistant hybrids were obvious less than those in less tolerant ones. Activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POD) in/eaves increased obviously in 0-14 d after heading and subsequently decreased rapidly, and those in more drought resistant hybrids were more than those in less tolerant ones. The results showed that changes of O2, H2O2, MDA, GSH, and AsA contents and antioxidative enzyme activities correlated significantly to drought resistance of rice hybrids, and more drought resistant hybrids possessed high ant oxidation capacity.展开更多

The numerical method is validated by the relevant experiment. The flow field parameters, aerodynamic forces, and surface heat flux distributions for attack angles of 0°, 2°, 5°, 7°, and 10° are obtained. The detailed numerical results show that the cruise attack angle has a great influence on the flow field parameters, aerodynamic force, and surface heat flux distribution of the supersonic vehicle nose-tip with an opposing jet thermal protection system. When the attack angle reaches 10°, the heat flux on the windward generatrix is close to the maximal heat flux on the wall surface of the nose-tip without thermal protection system, thus the thermal protection has failed.展开更多

So an analytic estimation and numerical modeling are performed in this paper to investigate the behavior of an actively cooled thermal protection system. The analytic estimation is based on the electric analogy method and finite element analysis(FEA) is applied to the numerical simulation. Temperature and stress distributions are obtained for the actively cooled channel walls with three kinds of nickel alloys with or with no thermal barrier coating(TBC). The temperature of the channel wall with coating has no obvious difference from the one with no coating, but the stress with coating on the channel wall is much smaller than that with no coating. Inconel X-750 has the best characteristics among the three Ni-based materials due to its higher thermal conductivity, lower elasticity module and greater allowable stress. Analytic estimation and numerical modeling results are compared with each other and a reasonable agreement is obtained.展开更多

文摘The digital reactor protection system(RPS)is one of the most important digital instrumentation and control(I&C)systems utilized in nuclear power plants(NPPs).It ensures a safe reactor trip when the safety-related parameters violate the operational limits and conditions of the reactor.Achieving high reliability and availability of digital RPS is essential to maintaining a high degree of reactor safety and cost savings. The main objective of this study is to develop a general methodology for improving the reliability of the RPS in NPP,based on a Bayesian Belief Network(BBN)model. The structure of BBN models is based on the incorporation of failure probability and downtime of the RPS I&C components.Various architectures with dual-state nodes for the I&C components were developed for reliability-sensitive analysis and availability optimization of the RPS and to demonstrate the effect of I&C components on the failure of the entire system.A reliability framework clarified as a reliability block diagram transformed into a BBN representation was constructed for each architecture to identify which one will fit the required reliability. The results showed that the highest availability obtained using the proposed method was 0.9999998.There are 120 experiments using two common component importance measures that are applied to define the impact of I&C modules, which revealed that some modules are more risky than others and have a larger effect on the failure of the digital RPS.

文摘The development of bare patches typically signifies a process of ecosystem degradation.Within the protection system of Shapotou section of the Baotou-Lanzhou railway, the extensive emergence of bare sand patches poses a threat to both stability and sustainability. However, there is limited knowledge regarding the morphology, dynamic changes, and ecological responses associated with these sand patches. Therefore,we analyzed the formation and development process of sand patches within the protection system and its effects on herbaceous vegetation growth and soil nutrients through field observation, survey, and indoor analysis methods. The results showed that sand patch development can be divided into three stages,i.e.,formation,expansion,and stabilization, which correspond to the initial, actively developing, and semi-fixed sand patches, respectively. The average dimensions of all sand patch erosional areas were found to be 7.72 m in length,3.91 m in width, and 0.32 m in depth. The actively developing sand patches were the largest, and the initial sand patches were the smallest.Throughout the stage of formation and expansion, the herbaceous community composition changed, and the plant density decreased by more than 50.95%.Moreover,the coverage and height of herbaceous plants decreased in the erosional area and slightly increased in the depositional lobe;and the fine particles and nutrients of soils in the erosional area and depositional lobe showed a decreasing trend. In the stabilization phases of sand patches, the area from the inlet to the bottom of sand patches becomes initially covered with crusts.Vegetation and 0-2 cm surface soil condition improved in the erosional area, but this improvement was not yet evident in the depositional lobe.Factors such as disturbance, climate change, and surface resistance to erosion exert notable influences on the formation and dynamics of sand patches. The results can provide evidence for the future treatment of sand patches and the management of the protection system of Shapotou section of the Baotou-Lanzhou railway.

文摘Actively cooled thermal protection system has great influence on the engine of a hypersonic vehicle, and it is significant to obtain the thermal and stress distribution in the system. Analytic estimation and numerical modeling results are compared with each other and a reasonable agreement is obtained.

文摘Thyristors have longer lifetimes, higher reliability, and very high voltage and current ratings and they require less maintenance than other high-power semiconductor devices. As a result, they are particularly suitable for quench protection systems(QPSs),which protect the superconducting magnets in large fusion devices from damage. In this paper,we propose a design for a 100 k A/10 k V thyristor stack supported by both theoretical and simulation-based analyses as well as experimental verification.Due to the ultrahigh electrical performance requirements imposed on the QPS by the Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Technology(CRAFT),three main issues must be considered:the voltage-balancing problem caused by multiple thyristors in a series structure, the increased junction temperature problem caused by extremely high currents, and the reverse recovery phenomenon that arises from the thyristor’s physical structure.Hence,a series of detailed theoretical analyses, simulations, and experiments, including a thyristor junction temperature prediction method and reverse recovery process modeling, were carried out to optimize the design. Finally, the reliability and stability of the thyristor stack were verified by a series of prototype experiments. The results confirmed the correctness and accuracy of the proposed thyristor stack design method and also indicated that the proposed thyristor stack can meet the application conditions of a 100 k A QPS in the CRAFT project.

文摘A philosophy for the design of novel,lightweight,multi-layered armor, referred to as Composite Armor Philosophy(CAP),which can adapt to the passive protection of light-,medium-,and heavy-armored vehicles,is presented in this study.CAP can serve as a guiding principle to assist designers in comprehending the distinct roles fulfilled by each component. The CAP proposal comprises four functional layers, organized in a suggested hierarchy of materials.Particularly notable is the inclusion of a ceramic-composite principle, representing an advanced and innovative solution in the field of armor design. This paper showcases real-world defense industry applications, offering case studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of this advanced approach.CAP represents a significant milestone in the history of passive protection, marking an evolutionary leap in the field. This philosophical approach provides designers with a powerful toolset with which to enhance the protection capabilities of military vehicles, making them more resilient and better equipped to meet the challenges of modern warfare.
文摘Piezoelectric resonant de-icing systems are attracting great interest. This paper aims to assess the implementation of these systems at the aircraft level. The article begins with the model to compute the power requirement of a piezoelectric resonant de-icing system sized from the prototype detailed in Part 1/2 of this article. Then the mass, drag, and fuel consumption of this system and the subcomponents needed for its implementation are assessed. The features of a piezoelectric resonant de-icing system are finally computed for aircraft similar to Airbus A320 aircraft and aircraft of different categories(Boeing 787,ATR 72 and TBM 900)and compared with the existing thermal and mechanical ice protection systems.A sensitivity analysis of the main key sizing parameters of the piezoelectric de-icing system is also performed to identify the main axes of improvement for this technology. The study shows the potential of such ice protection systems. In particular, for the realistic input parameters chosen in this work, the electro-mechanical solution can provide a 54% reduction in terms of mass and a 92% reduction in terms of power consumption for an A320 aircraft architecture, leading to a 74% decrease in the associated fuel consumption compared to the actual air bleed system.

文摘The efficiency of the aircraft Ice Protection Systems(IPSs)needs to be verified through icing wind tunnel tests. However, the scaling method for testing the IPSs has not been systematically established yet,and further research is needed. In the present study,a scaling method specifically designed for thermal IPSs was derived from the governing equation of thin water film.Five scaling parameters were adopted to address the heat and mass transfer involved in the thermal anti-icing process. For method validation, icing wind tunnel tests were conducted using a jet engine nacelle model equipped with a bleed air IPS.The non-dimensional surface temperature and runback ice closely matched for both the reference and scaled conditions. The validation confirms that the scaling method is capable of achieving the similarity of surface temperature and the runback ice coverage. The anti-icing scaling method can serve as an important supplement to the existing icing similarity theory.
文摘The design concepts, modelling and implementation of various fibre optic sensor protection systems for development in concrete structures were investigated. Design concepts and on-site requirements for surface-mounted and embedded optical fibre sensor in concrete were addressed. Finite element (FE) modelling of selected sensor protection systems in strain-transfer efficiency from the structure to the sensing region was also studied. And experimental validation of specified sensor protection system was reported. Results obtained indicate that the protection system for the sensors performs adequately in concrete environment and there is very good correlation between results obtained by the protected fibre optic sensors and conventional electrical resistance strain gauges.
