During his 70 years of clinical practice, he developed the theory that most diseases are caused by qi stagnation, and in order to restore qi circulation one needs to improve the blood circulation first. Based on this theory, in combination with empirical insights from clinical practice, he has developed a unique technique for using three-edged needles. He has also categorized and extended the application of bloodletting therapy with three edged needles to cover over 150 diseases. In addition, Dr. He's bloodletting therapy with three edged needles is an innovation that may inspire other physicians to develope and expand the use of acupuncture-related therapies to treat disease.展开更多

Although there has been an increased demand for research, few studies have been conducted directly with university professors to obtain their perceptions of the challenges the increased focus on research have presented. This study employed a qualitative methodology to inquire into the change of work life bought about by the increased demand for research, and the strategies professors have adopted to balance their teaching, research and service. It also inquired into the barriers to conducting research, and effective support strategies. Some barriers and support identified in this study were in accordance with what previous studies have identified. Perhaps because the professors interviewed were all tenured, they noted that the increased demand for research had not significantly changed their work life. Strategies they used to help them meet the demands for research included, but were not limited to, integrating their teaching and research, and collaborating with others on research projects. Barriers to research included bureaucratic constraints, newness to research, lack of time, and lack of funding.展开更多

Yang has studied six fossil clades and trace fossils, together with his colleagues, he has established 6 new species of cephalopods, 1 new genus and 15 new species of gastropods, 8 new genera and 31 new species of bivalves, 17 new genera and 66 new species of brachiopods, 1 new genus and 4 new species of ophiuroids, 2 new genera and 7 new species of triopsids (Crustacea), and 3 new ichnogenera and 7 new ichnospeeies of trace fossils. Yang led the 2nd IGCP working on the P-Tr mass extinction in the world. His group's excellent works on basic stratigraphy and paleontology enable the GSSP of P-~r boundary (PTB) to be ratified in China. Yang's earlier works on three-episode extinction pattern and volcanism-causing extinction hypothesis are also highlighted here to show how their first-hand data and initiative hypothesis have influenced the current and ongoing debates on the P-Tr crisis and possible causation. Yang school's extinction pattern is reviewed here, and their 2nd phase of extinction is marked by a dramatic loss in biodiversity, pointing to a widely accepted mass extinction. The 3rd extinction is characterized by ecological collapse of ecosystem structures and disappearance of the PTB microbialite ecosystem, while the 1st extinction (also prelude extinction) is indicated by the collapses of deep-water and reef ecosystems. Updated studies show that the volcanic ashes near the PTB originated from silicic, subduction-related igneous activity with little or no basaltic input. This subduction zone activity is related to closure of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean, and the intensity and frequency of the volcanic activity appear to increase near the P-Tr extinction interval. Hg anomalies (Hg/TOC ratios and Hg isotopes) were also detected from the P-Tr extinction interval, and they are interpreted as the results of enhanced volcanic-generated atmospheric mercury, which was injected by the violate eruption of the Siberian traps. Thus, the peak felsic volcanism is coeval with violate eruption of Siberian traps, and the coupled relationship between both types of volcanisms and biotic extinction suggests a causal relationship.展开更多

Methods: The medical records of outpatients from Professor Dai Xiaohua, who were treated in the Department of Cardiology, First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2019 to October 2019 and standardize it. With the help of Microsoft Excel 2016, SPSS 23.0, and SPSS Modeler 18.0 computer software, a database was established and the frequency of medication, association rules, and cluster analysis were performed. Results: Of the 109 prescriptions included in the study, 87 Chinese medicines were involved. The top 10 drugs are Chenpi, Atractylodes, Dandelion, Zhuru, Muxiang, Fructus aurantii, Ophiopogon, Poria, Sour Jujube, semen coicis. A total of 10 associations such as "Bamboo Ru → Dandelion, Dandelion → Cinnamon";Cluster analysis yields 5 clustering square groups. Conclusion: Professor Dai Xiaohua's treatment of coronary heart disease and chronic heart failure focuses on regulating qi and strengthening spleen, resolving phlegm and dampness.展开更多
