Driven by technological innovation and the innovative allocation of production factors,new quality productive forces(NQPFs)are a key breakthrough and core element propelling China’s transition from a major agricultural country to an advanced agricultural nation.At its core,agricultural modernization represents a frontier shift in agricultural development-a dynamic evolution of productive forces across technological forms,farmer demographics,industrial structures,and urban-rural relations.NQPFs drive the high-quality,integrated development of agricultural modernization through agricultural technological innovation,green and low-carbon practices,and the enhancement of all production factors.As NQPFs evolve and agricultural modernization advances,we must address constraints stemming from gaps in technology,models,resources,and talent.Furthermore,we must foster deep integration among industry,research,and education to develop new pathways for industrial upgrading,promote green and efficient agricultural development,and bridge existing technological gaps.These collective efforts are crucial for accelerating the high-quality development of agricultural modernization. 展开更多

Productive tiller number(PTN)is a pivotal trait that significantly influences wheat grain yield.To date,there have been limited reports on the cloning of genes that regulate PTN in wheat.The quantitative trait locus(QTL)QPtn.sau-4B,associated with PTN,was previously mapped between the markers KASP-1 and KASP-3 on the chromosome 4B.Here,utilizing 12 newly developed markers and phenotypic data of PTN from recombinants identified within this interval,QPtn.sau-4B was further fine-mapped to a 2.58 Mb interval on wheat chromosome arm 4BS.Within this interval,we identified 14 genes with high-confidence and 32 genes with low-confidence.A 0.17 Mb deletion fragment contained TraesCS4B03G0092600 and TraesCS4B03G0093100,which were assigned as candidate genes for QPtn.sau-4B.Additionally,QPtn.sau-4B had potential to enhance both PTN and grain yield in wheat.Cloning this locus would support the development of wheat cultivars with increased grain yield. 展开更多

Productive Government Debt and Urban Innovation:An Empirical Study Based on Chinese City Panel Data

Urban innovation is essential to strengthening national innovation capacity and technological capabilities,placing its sustained development at the heart of scholarly debate.This study explores the impact of productive-oriented local government debt expansion on urban innovation,leveraging China’s“Four Trillion Yuan”stimulus plan in 2008 as a natural experiment and drawing on urban panel data.Through the lens of productive government debt,we find that such expansion significantly boosts urban innovation,driven by three key mechanisms:infrastructure support,government innovation subsidies,and talent agglomeration.However,heterogeneity analysis reveals that this positive effect weakens in China’s central and western regions,cities with higher administrative status,and those with lower marketization levels,where the impact becomes negligible.Further scrutiny shows that local government financing vehicle(LGFV)bonds and special local government bonds earmarked for infrastructure effectively spur urban innovation,whereas general bonds and LGFV bonds used for“borrowing new to repay old”yield little to no benefit.These findings underscore that local government debt,when channeled toward productive ends,can fuel urban innovation.As the central government works to mitigate implicit debt risks,it must weigh the distinct roles of debt funds-considering regional economic conditions and institutional contexts-and tailor policies to time and place.This study offers theoretical insights and practical guidance for decoding the intricate link between government debt and innovation,enriching both scholarship and policy discourse. 展开更多

Currently,driven by the accelerated iteration of digital technologies such as big data,cloud computing,and artificial intelligence,the digital economy has become a crucial engine for generating new quality productive forces and promoting industrial upgrading.Building on a systematic review of the theoretical evolution and measurement methods of the digital economy and new quality productive forces,this paper outlines their enabling mechanisms,industrial synergy pathways,and policy practices,and summarizes regional disparities and spatial spillover effects.The main findings are as follows:First,the digital economy reshapes the traditional factor structure and significantly enhances total factor productivity through the permeation of data elements and technological innovation;Second,driven jointly by the consumer internet and the industrial internet,it optimizes supply–demand matching and service models while reducing operating costs and improving production efficiency;Third,policy environments and institutional coordination amplify the enabling effects,as evidenced notably in national big-data pilot zones and the“East Data West Computing”initiative.Looking ahead,empirical research should deepen the exploration of micro-level mechanisms and dynamic panel analyses,construct a measurement system of new quality productive forces that spans macro,meso,and micro scales,and investigate pathways for regional collaborative governance and green digital integration to address the complex challenges of the new era. 展开更多

The key zones of returning farmland to forestland and grassland in Ningxia were studied. By using the "stepwise revised method",the climate productive potential,light and temperature productive potential in the zone in recent 50 years were counted. The light and temperature productive potential of corn in Ningxia irrigated area,the central arid zone and the southern mountain area presented the linear increase trend. But when considered the climate productive potentials of light,temperature and water,the numerical value was very low because of the scarce rainfall,and no agriculture without the irrigation. The light and temperature productive potential,climate productive potential of winter wheat in the central arid zone had no significant trend,but the variation range of climate productive potential was very big. The light and temperature productive potential of winter wheat in the southern mountain area had no significant variation trend,and the climate productive potential presented the weak decline trend. It illustrated that the productive of winter wheat was greatly restricted by the water content. By using the meteorological factor data which were simulated by RegCM3-WOFOST/LINGRA coupled model,the future climate productive potentials of winter wheat in the central south of Ningxia was counted. They both presented the weak increase trend. It illustrated that the climate in Ningxia was favorable to improve the yield of winter wheat after returning farmland to forestland. 展开更多

Variation in the vocal behavior of nonhuman vertebrates includes graded transitions and more dramatic changes.Wapiti males produce a reproductive bugle that has a fundamental frequency that surpasses 2,000 Hz with evidence of biphonation and other nonlinear phenomena.Here,we analyze the acoustic structure of captive wapiti vocalizations to compare the male bugle with 3 categories of distress vocalizations:neonate distress(capture)calls,calf isolation calls,and adult female isolation calls.These 4 high-arousal call categories serve a common general function in recruiting conspecifics but occur in different behavioral contexts(capture,isolation,reproduction).Our goal was to distinguish characteristics that vary in graded steps that may correspond to an animal’s age or size from characteristics that are unique to the bugle.Characteristics of the high and loud fundamental(G0)varied in an age/size-graded manner with a decrease in minimum G0,an increase in the maximum and range of G0,with no evidence of sex differences.The nonlinear phenomena of deterministic chaos,biphonation,and frequency jumps were present in all 4 call categories and became more common from the distress vocalizations of neonates to calves to adult females to the male bugle.Two temporal characteristics sharply distinguished the bugle from the 3 categories of distress vocalizations:these included a prolonged call duration and a maximum G0 that occurred much later in the call for the bugle than for distress vocalizations.Our results suggest that distress vocalizations of different age groups and the reproductive bugle of wapiti share a high G0,with age/size-graded changes in G0 and nonlinear phenomena,but differ sharply in temporal characteristics. 展开更多

Background:In vitro embryo production(IVP)and embryo transfer(ET)are two very common assisted reproductive technologies(ART)in human and cattle.However,in pig,the combination of either procedures,or even their use separately,is still considered suboptimal due to the low efficiency of IVP plus the difficulty of performing ET in the long and contorted uterus of the sow.In addition,the potential impact of these two ART on the health of the offspring is unknown.We investigated here if the use of a modified IVP system,with natural reproductive fluids(RF)as supplements to the culture media,combined with a minimally invasive surgery to perform ET,affects the output of the own IVP system as well as the reproductive performance of the mother and placental molecular traits.Results:The blastocyst rates obtained by both in vitro systems,conventional(C-IVP)and modified(RF-IVP),were similar.Pregnancy and farrowing rates were also similar.However,when compared to in vivo control(artificial insemination,AI),litter sizes of both IVP groups were lower,while placental efficiency was higher in AI than in RF-IVP.Gene expression studies revealed aberrant expression levels for PEG3 and LUM in placental tissue for C-IVP group when compared to AI,but not for RF-IVP group.Conclusions:The use of reproductive fluids as additives for the culture media in pig IVP does not improve reproductive performance of recipient mothers but could mitigate the impact of artificial procedures in the offspring. 展开更多

Two experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of dietary supple-mentation of urea molasses multi-nutrient cake (UMMC) on productive and reproductive performances of rabbit. In Experiment-I, 80 rabbit does (age 24 weeks) were randomly assigned into four dietary treatment groups (T0, T1, T2 and T3) to investigate the effect of UMMC on the reproductive performances whereas in Experiment-II, 112 young rabbits (age 5 weeks) were also randomly assigned into another four dietary treatment groups to investigate the effect of UMMC on the productive performance. The rabbits of four dietary treatment groups (T0, T1, T2 and T3) in both experiments were fed 0%, 4%, 6% and 8% urea containing UMMC, respectively. The results revealed that the dietary supplementation of UMMC increased (P < 0.05) live weight of pregnant does, conception rate, litter size, and litter weight and individual kit weight at weaning. On the other hand, UMMC supplementation reduced (P < 0.05) the kit mortality, though it did not affect the gestation period, litter size, litter weight and individual kit weight at birth. Dietary UMMC supplementation also improved (P < 0.05) the productive performances of growing rabbits in terms of live weight gain, feed conversion ratio and performance index by almost same amount of feed intake. On the contrary, blood parameters (Hb, PCV and ESR) were not affected by the UMMC except for red blood cell and white blood cell counts, but were within their normal range indicating the safe use of UMMC. UMMC also increased (P < 0.05) the fecal bacterial population. Production cost of UMMC was around 0.19 USD less in each kg of feed than the commercial pellet.
