Replication processing using NaCl spaceholders offers the possibility to produce cellular structures for a range of Mg alloys. Four Mg alloys (AZ63, M2, ZM21 and MZX211) were processed into open cellular structures with a pore size near 500 μm and a porosity of 75% using an optimized NaCl leaching procedure. The production method was found to be robust and yielded samples of acceptable strength and stiffness. Their dissolution rate (by H2 release in simulated body fluid) and mechanical properties (by cyclic compression) were measured. For all 4 alloys the initial mechanical properties mimic those of cancellous bone;however, the dissolution rate is too high for direct use in the human body, leading to excessive hydrogen evolution and overly rapid degradation of mechanical properties. Microengines are regarded as the potential replacements for batteries.Aimed at the unsatisfactory thermal property of silicon used in the combustion chambers,ceramics are chosen as the construction material in this paper.The fabrication process where alumina has been chosen as the microengine material is discussed.Vigorous FEA has been carried out,and it is found that the material satisfies the stress and deformation requirements of the design.Then the alumina fabrication process is described.Soft reusable polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)moulds are produced from SU-8 resist masters,and alumina microengine parts are produced using the PDMS moulds.Images of the ceramic components show that the fabrication satisfies the design requirements. 展开更多

Because of limited viral replication and lack of cytopathic effect in cell culture,a new PCR-based rapid seroneutralization assay for detection of GII.4norovirus neutralized antibodies was developed with serum samples from acute-phase patients,convalescent-phase patients and healthy controls.According to this study,neutralizing antibodies were detected in 100% ofconvalescent-phase sera, and in 2.5% of healthy controls sera. However, all of the acute-phase serum samples could not neutralize virus efficiently. Compared to the results from ELISA (96.2% at sensitivity and 80% at specificity), the present in vitro neutralization assay is more specific and more sensitive. 展开更多
