In this study, a novel algorithm is proposed to predict preferential flow paths based on the topologically equivalent network of a porous structure and the flow resistance of flow paths. The equivalent flow network was constructed using Poiseuille's law and the maximal inscribed sphere algorithm. The flow resistance of each path was then determined based on Darcy's law. It was determined that fluid tends to follow paths with lower flow resistance. A computer program was developed and applied to an actual porous structure. To validate the algorithm and program, we tested and recorded two-dimensional(2 D) water flow using an ablated Perspex sheet featuring the same porous structure investigated using the analytical calculations. The results show that the measured preferential flow paths are consistent with the predictions.展开更多

文摘In this work, hierarchical hybrid composites consisting of porous three-dimensional reduced graphene oxide(3D-rGO)skeleton and lamellar boron nitride(BN)/silicon carbide(SiC)coatings are prepared by chemical vapor infiltration(CVI)process. The graphene framework prepared by 3D printing and frozen self-assembly exhibits a lightweight structure and a perforated conductive network, which extends the transmission path of incident microwaves. The introduced ceramic coatings can effectively tune the impedance matching degree and supply a lossy phase, and the hierarchical structure of the composites enhances the multiple scattering of the incident microwaves. As expected, the 3D-rGO/BN/SiC composites possess an excellent absorbing performance with a minimum reflection loss value of–37.8 dB,and the widest effective absorbing bandwidth(RL<–10 dB)of 5.90 GHz is obtained. The controllable fabrication of composites can provide a guideline for rational design and fabrication of high-performance electromagnetic waves absorbing materials in practical applications.

文摘Enhancing both the number of active sites available and the intrinsic activity of Co-based electrocatalysts simultaneously is a desirable goal.Herein,a ZIF-67-derived hierarchical porous cobalt sulfide decorated by Au nanoparticles(NPs)(denoted as HP-Au@CoxSy@ZIF-67)hybrid is synthesized by low-temperature sulfuration treatment. The well-defined macroporous-mesoporous-microporous structure is obtained based on the combination of polystyrene spheres,as-formed CoxSy nanosheets, and ZIF-67 frameworks. This novel three-dimensional hierarchical structure significantly enlarges the three-phase interfaces, accelerating the mass transfer and exposing the active centers for oxygen evolution reaction. The electronic structure of Co is modulated by Au through charge transfer, and a series of experiments, together with theoretical analysis,is performed to ascertain the electronic modulation of Co by Au.Meanwhile,HP-Au@CoxSy@ZIF-67 catalysts with different amounts of Au were synthesized, wherein Au and NaBH4 reductant result in an interesting“competition effect”to regulate the relative ratio of Co^(2+)/Co^(3+),and moderate Au assists the electrochemical performance to reach the highest value.Consequently, the optimized HP-Au@CoxSy@ZIF-67 exhibits a low overpotential of 340 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)and a Tafel slope of 42 mV dec-1 for OER in 0.1 M aqueous KOH,enabling efficient water splitting and Zn-air battery performance. The work here highlights the pivotal roles of both microstructural and electronic modulation in enhancing electrocatalytic activity and presents a feasible strategy for designing and optimizing advanced electrocatalysts.

文摘The understanding and prediction of preferential fluid flow in porous media have attracted considerable attention in various engineering fields because of the implications of such flows in leading to a non-equilibrium fluid flow in the subsurface. The results show that the measured preferential flow paths are consistent with the predictions.

文摘Inspired by the crystal microstructure of metals and the bamboo, the bionic porous NiTi structures with the porosities in the range of 75.8%–84.9%were built via selective laser melting(SLM).The compression behavior and the failure mechanisms of the porous NiTi structures were evaluated. It demonstrated an increase in the elastic modulus and ultimate strength when the porosity was decreased, from 3.06 to 7.66 GPa and from 34.1 to 147.6 MPa,respectively. The relationship between the elastic modulus and the porosity obtained by the finite element analysis exhibited similar tendency with the experiment, and agreed well with the Gibson-Ashby model’s prediction.Based on the theoretical model above and the observation of the deformation processing, the plastic deformation behavior and failure mechanisms of the SLMed porous NiTi structures were analyzed.

文摘A green biocompatible foaming method utilizing natural coconut oil and cornstarch was developed to fabricate highly porous functional ceramics with controllable strengths and pore structures. The poros- ity of A1203 ceramics prepared via this method reached 79.6%-86.9% while these ceramics maintained high compressive strengths of 2.2-5.5 MPa. More importantly, porous A1203 ceramic with a pore size gra- dient was also readily fabricated by casting serial layers of foams that were set for different time periods. The potential applications of porous Al2O3 and HA ceramics fabricated by this green foaming method in- cluding scaffolds for oil cleaning and cell culture, respectively, were also demonstrated.

文摘Porous structures widely exist in nature and artifacts, which can be exploited to reduce structural weight and material usage or improve damage tolerance and energy absorption. In this study, the authors develop an approach to design optimized porous structures with Triply Periodic Minimal Surfaces(TPMSs)in the framework of isogeometric analysis(IGA)-based topological optimization. In the developed method,by controlling the density distribution, the designed porous structures can achieve the optimal mechanical performance without increasing the usage of materials.First, the implicit functions of the TPMSs are adopted to design several types of porous elements parametrically.Second,to reduce the cost of computation, the authors propose an equivalent method to forecast the elastic modulus of these porous elements with different densities.Subsequently, the relationships of different porous elements between the elastic modulus and the relative density are constructed.Third, the IGA-based porous topological optimization is developed to obtain an optimal density distribution, which solves a volume constrained compliance minimization problem based on IGA.Finally,an optimum heterogeneous porous structure is generated based on the optimized density distribution.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method.

文摘This paper looks into the effects of various porous structures used in the construction of the shell of a protective helmet on the energy absorption capacity and their efficacy in protecting the head/skull against impact force. It is well known that porous structures are very effective for energy absorption;hence, they have been widely used to reduce the negative effects of impact and explosion loads on the human skull.Porous shell structures, made from titanium alloy(Ti–6Al–4V)and,comprised of several periodic topological configurations, namely the more common rectangle and hexagonal honeycomb,as well as those having auxetic properties, namely the concave honeycomb and double-arrow,are studied by means of numerical modeling. The reliability of the numerical model is validated with the published experimental results. For the double-arrow configurations, the study involves three different densities, and the structural energy absorption capacity of the double-arrow shells increases with density. For the same density, the energy absorption capacity of the rectangular shell is the best, and that of the honeycomb is the worst. The superior performance of the rectangular configuration is partly derived from the fact that the orientation of the struts in this structure is aligned along the direction of the impact force.Further comparison of energy absorption capacity is made between the porous shell and a shell having a traditional titanium monolayer. The severe plastic deformation in the solid titanium shell(traditional monolayer shell)is detrimental to the overall effectiveness of head protection gear.Apart from this, compared with the Kevlar composite laminated shell of the same mass, both the solid and porous titanium shells provide considerable protection to the human head. The comprehensive comparisons show that the porous design on the titanium shell is beneficial for mitigating the risks of traumatic brain injuries(TBIs).

文摘The research on high-performance electromagnetic wave absorption materials with high-temperature and oxidative stability in extreme environments is gaining popularity.Herein, the lightweight silicon carbide nanowires(SiC_(nws))/SiC composites are fabricated with in-situ SiC interface on one-dimensional oriented SiC_(nws)skeleton,which collaborative configuration by 3D printing and freeze casting assembly. The con-structed porous structure optimizes the impedance matching degree and scattering intensity, the maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EAB_(max))of 5.9 GHz and the minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of−41.4 dB can be realized.Considering the inherent oxidation resistance of SiC,the composites present well-maintained absorption performance at 600℃.Even at 1100℃,the EAB_(max)of 4.9 GHz and RLmin of−30.4 dB also demonstrate the high-temperature absorption stability of the composites, indicating exceptional wave absorption properties and thermal stability. The slight attenuation can be attributed to the decrease in impedance matching capability accompanying the elevated dielectric constant. This work clarifies the impact of structure and component synergy on wave absorption behavior, and offers a novel approach to producing high-performance and high-temperature resistance ceramic-based electromagnetic wave absorption materials suitable for extreme environments.

文摘The dispersibility of active components in hydrodesulfurization(HDS)catalysts significantly influences the corresponding catalytic performance. In this study,sugar-based materials(glucose, chitosan, soluble starch, and corn starch)were utilized to prepare CoMo bulk HDS catalysts through a sugar foaming process. The foaming intermediates were analyzed using TG,FTIR,and Raman techniques to investigate the pyrolysis and carbonization process, revealing the presence of graphitic carbon in the 3 DPG,3 DPSS,and 3 DPCS catalysts even after calcination in an air atmosphere. The catalysts were further characterized using SEM,XRD,TEM,low-temperature N_(2) physical adsorption, and XPS.The 3 DPSS catalyst exhibited a thiophene conversion of 94.8%at 360℃ and 1 MPa,which could be ascribed to its unique three-dimensional pore structure, high dispersion of MoS_(2)(0.21),and high fraction of Mo^(4+)(83.14%).This study demonstrates the potential of using the sugar foaming technique to develop highly efficient HDS catalysts and provides new insights into the relationship between the physicochemical properties of the obtained catalysts and their catalytic performance.

文摘The increasingly serious electromagnetic(EM)radiation and related pollution effects have gradually attracted people's attention in the information age.Hence,it's crucial to develop adaptive shielding materials with minimum EM waves(EMW)reflection. In this paper,Ag nanoparticles loaded mesoporous carbon hollow spheres(MCHS@Ag)were synthesized by chemical reduction method, and cellulose nanofibers(CNF)/MXene/MCHS@Ag homogeneous composites were prepared. The total EM interference shielding efficiency(SET)of CNF/MXene/MCHS@Ag composite film was 32.83 dB(at 12.4 GHz),and the absorption effectiveness(SEA)was improved to 26.6 dB,which was 63.1%and 195.5%higher than that of CNF/MXene/MCHS composite film. The low dielectric property of MCHS effectively optimized the impedance matching between the composites and air.The hollow porous structure prolonged the transmission path of EMW and increased the absorption loss of the composites. At the same time,Ag nanoparticles located the MCHS were helpful to construct the internal conductive path overcoming the damage of the conductive property caused by the low dielectric of MCHS.This research adopts a straightforward method to construct a lightweight, pliable, and mesoporous composites for EMI shielding, which serves a crucial role in the current era of severe EM pollution.
