Focusing on investment security along the Belt and Road(B&R)routes,this study analyzes the geopolitical environment(GE)of countries(regions)along the B&R routes from two dimensions:political and business envir...Focusing on investment security along the Belt and Road(B&R)routes,this study analyzes the geopolitical environment(GE)of countries(regions)along the B&R routes from two dimensions:political and business environment(PBE)and political orientation.The results show that since the proposal of the B&R Initiative in 2013,the PBE of these countries(regions)has shown slight improvement but with significant spatial disparities,presenting a pattern of better conditions in the eastern and western regions and poorer conditions in the central regions.There is no strong spatial dependence in the PBE among these countries(regions),but a weak homogenization trend toward improvement is observed.Low-scoring countries(regions)are mainly located in former Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS),the Middle East,and the Indochina Peninsula.These countries(regions)exhibit weak interconnections,demonstrating a characteristic of“similarity without harmony.”(a Confucian concept describing nations sharing superficial traits but lacking substantive cooperation).Therefore,the B&R construction should adopt a clustered and contiguous breakthrough strategy.The evaluation of political orientation reveals significant political divergence among B&R countries(regions),with varying attitudes toward China.Moreover,as pro-China sentiment increases,the PBE tends to deteriorate.This negative correlation suggests that countries(regions)actively engaging in the B&R Initiative generally face political instability and economic underdevelopment,and seek to leverage the B&R Initiative for domestic growth.Consequently,while prioritizing investment security,it is important for the B&R construction to actively promote Chinese values in order to garner support and participation from countries(regions)with more favorable PBE.Given the generally underdeveloped PBE and political polarization among B&R countries(regions),China urgently needs to develop a geopolitical theory aligned with the B&R's geopolitical model to safeguard its advancement.Simultaneously,China should reshape geopolitical narratives to reclaim discourse power in political interpretation.This study provides preliminary insights into cross-country(regional)political polarization and contributes to advancing GE research.展开更多

The paper addresses the impacts of political exits on capital structure policies,through studying the impact of the Brexit deal on the UK's companies listed at FTSE 100 as a practical case.The study is divided int...The paper addresses the impacts of political exits on capital structure policies,through studying the impact of the Brexit deal on the UK's companies listed at FTSE 100 as a practical case.The study is divided into two periods:the first before the Brexit deal(2010-2015)and the second after the referendum until Brexit(2016-2021).Data were collected from the annual reports of the UK companies and the FTSE 100 database.Moreover,capital structure policies were studied by analyzing the determinants such as long-term debt over total equity,profitability,tangibility,liquidity,propensity to pay dividends,size,and political factor-Brexit.The results show that there is a direct relationship between political exits and capital structure.Also,the results show that the financial ratios are different between the two periods(before and after Brexit),where it seems that the capital structure variables were affected starting from the referendum period,political negotiations between the two parties,and then Brexit(2016-2021).In addition,the correlation matrix shows that long-term debt over total equity has a negative correlation with profitability,liquidity,and political factors,where it seems that long-term debt over total equity has a positive correlation with tangibility,size,and paying dividends.Moreover,the results show that political shocks were affecting the FTSE 100 performance starting from 2016 until 2021.The study could be useful for financial and economic academics.Moreover,the study could be helpful for EU members and the UK government,taking into consideration the interests of the UK and EU where any future policies or laws will affect the financial and economic sectors of the two parties.展开更多
This study examines the impact of political polarization on youth engagement in Brazil,focusing on the intersection of historical legacies,cultural dynamics,and modern political influences.Tracing the evolution of pol...This study examines the impact of political polarization on youth engagement in Brazil,focusing on the intersection of historical legacies,cultural dynamics,and modern political influences.Tracing the evolution of polarization from the military dictatorship era to contemporary politics under Jair Bolsonaro,the study explores how polarized rhetoric,misinformation,and digital media have reshaped the political landscape for young Brazilians.Data for the study were collected through a survey of 159 college students aged 18-25 from public and private institutions across Brazil,complemented by 10 interviews with youth activists and party leaders from the Workers’Party(PT)and the Liberal Party(PL).These methods aimed to evaluate how polarization affects young people’s beliefs,political identities,behaviors,engagement levels,and ability to participate in constructive political discourse.The findings reveal that while polarization fosters hostility and deepens ideological divides,it also inspires youth activism by creating a sense of identity and belonging.Education,digital information channels,and the lack of representation in leadership roles emerge as key factors shaping youth engagement.Despite challenges,the research underscores hope:young Brazilians display resilience,critical awareness,and a shared desire for accountability and inclusivity.This study highlights the potential of youth to bridge divides and lead Brazil toward a more collaborative and democratic future.展开更多
The legacy of rural-urban developmental imbalance and China’s household registration institution(i.e.,the hukou system)stratify Chinese citizens into three populations—rural villagers,urban dwellers,and rural-to-urb...The legacy of rural-urban developmental imbalance and China’s household registration institution(i.e.,the hukou system)stratify Chinese citizens into three populations—rural villagers,urban dwellers,and rural-to-urban migrants.These groups differ in values,lifestyles,and socioeconomic status.They have also been assigned to different tiers of government control and services based upon their location and hukou identities.Effective governance of these diverse and divided populations in urbanizing China requires a deeper understanding of their potentially different political orientations and attitudes toward government and why such differences exist.However,despite their demographic significance—by 2014,China’s rural-to-urban migrant population had reached to 253 million—rural-to-urban migrants remain unrepresented in studies of Chinese people’s political trust,which focus more on either rural villagers or urban dwellers.This study addresses this gap by situating Chinese rural-to-urban migrants at the center of triadic analytical framework and comparing their trust in local(i.e.,county-level)government to two reference groups:rural villagers and urban dwellers.We utilize data from the China Family Panel Study(CFPS)in 2014 and employ the propensity score matching(PSM)method to match rural-to-urban migrants and rural villagers with comparable propensities to migrate.This matched comparison found that rural-to-urban migrants are 4.91%less trusting of their county government than their rural villager counterparts.This result reflects a negative“urban effect”:The urban society may erode political trust compared to rural environments.Then the method of mechanical matching(MM)is used to compare rural-to-urban migrants and urban dwellers.This matched comparison found that rural-to-urban migrants are 3.2%more trusting than their urban counterparts.This indicates that the migrant identity(i.e.,being a rural hukou holders in cities)is associated with higher trust levels.This geography of political trust signals a more complex rural-urban divide in the citizen-government relationship in China.Different populations’various relationship with local government therefore merits additional attention to place-based and population-specific policies to rebuild trust.展开更多

文摘Lying in politics has long been seen as both routine and destructive.While some falsehoods appear trivial,others undermine democratic processes,erode trust,and inflict significant harm on society.This essay investigates the moral,legal,and political dimensions of punishing political lies,drawing on Kantian deontological ethics,consequentialist reasoning,and theories of democratic communication.It distinguishes minor misstatements from harmful falsehoods that distort elections,public health responses,and national security.Building on Hannah Arendt’s warning about the collapse of truth and Jürgen Habermas’s emphasis on communicative integrity,the analysis shows how unchecked deception corrodes the foundations of democratic legitimacy.Although legal punishment risks overreach and potential misuse,political and social sanctions remain essential tools of accountability.By examining cases such as misinformation in the Iraq War and the COVID-19 pandemic,the essay argues that meaningful consequences for harmful lies are indispensable to maintaining truth as a shared democratic norm.

文摘Deeply exploring the ideological and political elements of various courses in universities and integrating ideological and political education into the entire teaching process is the development trend of ideological and political education in universities under the new situation.Investment has strong characteristics of modernity,practicality,universality,and interest,which naturally give this professional course advantages in carrying out ideological and political practices and make it easy to form a broad consensus on ideological and political concepts.This article combines the characteristics of the investment course,guided by the ideological and political teaching goals of the investment course,and fully utilizes various teaching modes to explore and integrate ideological and political elements into the investment course.Finally,it evaluates the ideological and political teaching of the investment course,aiming to improve the quality of ideological and political teaching and achieve comprehensive education for all students throughout the entire process.
文摘The paper addresses the impacts of political exits on capital structure policies,through studying the impact of the Brexit deal on the UK's companies listed at FTSE 100 as a practical case.The study is divided into two periods:the first before the Brexit deal(2010-2015)and the second after the referendum until Brexit(2016-2021).Data were collected from the annual reports of the UK companies and the FTSE 100 database.Moreover,capital structure policies were studied by analyzing the determinants such as long-term debt over total equity,profitability,tangibility,liquidity,propensity to pay dividends,size,and political factor-Brexit.The results show that there is a direct relationship between political exits and capital structure.Also,the results show that the financial ratios are different between the two periods(before and after Brexit),where it seems that the capital structure variables were affected starting from the referendum period,political negotiations between the two parties,and then Brexit(2016-2021).In addition,the correlation matrix shows that long-term debt over total equity has a negative correlation with profitability,liquidity,and political factors,where it seems that long-term debt over total equity has a positive correlation with tangibility,size,and paying dividends.Moreover,the results show that political shocks were affecting the FTSE 100 performance starting from 2016 until 2021.The study could be useful for financial and economic academics.Moreover,the study could be helpful for EU members and the UK government,taking into consideration the interests of the UK and EU where any future policies or laws will affect the financial and economic sectors of the two parties.
文摘This study examines the impact of political polarization on youth engagement in Brazil,focusing on the intersection of historical legacies,cultural dynamics,and modern political influences.Tracing the evolution of polarization from the military dictatorship era to contemporary politics under Jair Bolsonaro,the study explores how polarized rhetoric,misinformation,and digital media have reshaped the political landscape for young Brazilians.Data for the study were collected through a survey of 159 college students aged 18-25 from public and private institutions across Brazil,complemented by 10 interviews with youth activists and party leaders from the Workers’Party(PT)and the Liberal Party(PL).These methods aimed to evaluate how polarization affects young people’s beliefs,political identities,behaviors,engagement levels,and ability to participate in constructive political discourse.The findings reveal that while polarization fosters hostility and deepens ideological divides,it also inspires youth activism by creating a sense of identity and belonging.Education,digital information channels,and the lack of representation in leadership roles emerge as key factors shaping youth engagement.Despite challenges,the research underscores hope:young Brazilians display resilience,critical awareness,and a shared desire for accountability and inclusivity.This study highlights the potential of youth to bridge divides and lead Brazil toward a more collaborative and democratic future.

文摘The legacy of rural-urban developmental imbalance and China’s household registration institution(i.e.,the hukou system)stratify Chinese citizens into three populations—rural villagers,urban dwellers,and rural-to-urban migrants.These groups differ in values,lifestyles,and socioeconomic status.They have also been assigned to different tiers of government control and services based upon their location and hukou identities.Effective governance of these diverse and divided populations in urbanizing China requires a deeper understanding of their potentially different political orientations and attitudes toward government and why such differences exist.However,despite their demographic significance—by 2014,China’s rural-to-urban migrant population had reached to 253 million—rural-to-urban migrants remain unrepresented in studies of Chinese people’s political trust,which focus more on either rural villagers or urban dwellers.This study addresses this gap by situating Chinese rural-to-urban migrants at the center of triadic analytical framework and comparing their trust in local(i.e.,county-level)government to two reference groups:rural villagers and urban dwellers.We utilize data from the China Family Panel Study(CFPS)in 2014 and employ the propensity score matching(PSM)method to match rural-to-urban migrants and rural villagers with comparable propensities to migrate.This matched comparison found that rural-to-urban migrants are 4.91%less trusting of their county government than their rural villager counterparts.This result reflects a negative“urban effect”:The urban society may erode political trust compared to rural environments.Then the method of mechanical matching(MM)is used to compare rural-to-urban migrants and urban dwellers.This matched comparison found that rural-to-urban migrants are 3.2%more trusting than their urban counterparts.This indicates that the migrant identity(i.e.,being a rural hukou holders in cities)is associated with higher trust levels.This geography of political trust signals a more complex rural-urban divide in the citizen-government relationship in China.Different populations’various relationship with local government therefore merits additional attention to place-based and population-specific policies to rebuild trust.

文摘In the context of the new era of education,advanced mathematics not only undertakes the function of knowledge transmission but also plays a vital role in cultivating logical thinking,scientific spirit,and value orientation.However,traditional teaching has overemphasized knowledge instillation while neglecting value guidance,making it difficult to meet the demands of cultivating interdisciplinary talents.This study introduces the OBE concept and constructs a“knowledge–ability–value”teaching framework,integrating outcome orientation,backward design,and diversified evaluation to promote the systematic incorporation of ideological and political education into the curriculum.Taking limits,definite integrals,and series as representative knowledge points,the paper designs case-based pathways to foster dialectical thinking,patriotism,and scientific spirit.Practice has shown that this model effectively unifies knowledge education and value education,enhancing students’logical reasoning,sense of responsibility,and scientific literacy.The study provides an operational pathway for the reform of ideological and political education in advanced mathematics courses and carries practical significance for implementing the goal of“all-round education.”

文摘This study focuses on vocational undergraduate institutions in Hainan Province,exploring the current status,issues,and optimization strategies for integrating ideological and political education into college English courses.Through questionnaires,interviews,and classroom observations,the research identifies problems such as insufficient integration of ideological content,monotonous teaching methods,and low student engagement.To address these issues,this paper proposes a four-in-one teaching strategy encompassing teaching objectives,content,methods,and evaluation mechanisms.The effectiveness of this strategy is validated through teaching practices.The results indicate that the optimized teaching strategy significantly enhances students’English proficiency and ideological literacy,providing practical references for the reform of ideological and political education in college English courses at vocational undergraduate institutions.

文摘The digital-intelligent era presents both opportunities and challenges for specialized course education in universities.Based on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education,this study takes the course“Design and Guidance of Science Play Performance Activities”as an example to explore practical pathways for integrating ideological and political education into specialized courses within a digital-intelligent context.Employing literature review and action research methodologies,the study constructs a digital-intelligent teaching model,develops digital ideological and political resources,innovates teaching methods,and systematically identifies and deeply integrates ideological and political elements into the curriculum.Through practical validation,the research summarizes a curriculum design framework grounded in Tyler’s principles and a digital-intelligent teaching model based on BOPPPS,providing transferable pathways for ideological and political education in specialized courses.Furthermore,it offers theoretical support and practical references for the deep integration and innovative application of digital-intelligent technologies in education.

文摘Under the dual impetus of the fundamental task of“cultivating virtue and nurturing talent”and the national strategy of digitalizing education,promoting the deep integration of ideological and political education in courses with digital technology has become a core issue in the curriculum reform of colleges and universities.This paper takes the course“Business Model Innovation”as the research object and focuses on the problems existing in the current course,such as lagging content update,superficial application of digital tools,and weakening elements of ideological and political education.This paper proposes a teaching reform path that is supported by digital means and centered on value guidance,and focuses on how to systematically optimize teaching content design,interactive teaching scenarios,evaluation and feedback mechanisms,and teacher collaboration systems through specific tools such as“Rain Classroom,”“Enterprise Sand Table,”and“Smart Classroom Platform.”We aim to build a digital model of ideological and political education in the curriculum that integrates knowledge imparting,ability training,and value shaping,and to provide practical reference and path support for the cultivation of high-quality business talents in the new era.

文摘In recent years,the field of higher education in China has put forward clear requirements for the construction of ideological and political education in courses.Accounting English,as an important course for cultivating international accounting talents,urgently needs to integrate professional ethics and national consciousness into professional teaching[1].In response to the lack of a professional reference system for ideological and political education in accounting English courses,this paper,guided by the OBE educational concept,constructs a three-dimensional objective matrix model based on the international Certified Public Accountant(CPA)competency framework.By deconstructing the IFAC professional competence standards,a mapping mechanism of“professional competence-language carrier-ideological and political content”is proposed.

文摘This paper systematically discusses the theoretical basis,practical path,and significance of integrating civic and political education into the teaching of Chinese medicine diagnostics.As a core course connecting basic theory and clinical practice,the teaching reform of TCM diagnostics needs to break through the“triple structural contradiction”:cultural interpretation fault,alienation of value goals,and narrowing of evaluation dimensions.The study proposes a“multi-dimensional integration path”:at the level of top-level design,exploration and integration of elements,pedagogical innovation,enhancement of faculty,and improvement of the evaluation system.The study clarifies the significance of integrating civic and political education into the teaching of TCM diagnostics,and reconstructs the value system of“Virtual of Great Physician,”which is of great significance to break the dilemma of“triple-heavy and triple-light”in medical education,and to cultivate complex TCM talents with exquisite medical skills and humanistic sentiments.
