A 2×2 fiber coupler is introduced into the phase-biased nonlinear amplifying loop mirror to extract part of intracavity laser power as a laser output, and the dependence of output couple ratio of fiber coupler on the mode-locking state is experimentally investigated. The intracavity nonlinear effect is mitigated by lowering the intracavity laser power, which is conducive to avoiding the multi-pulse formation. In the meantime, the loss-imbalance induced by fiber coupler is helpful in improving the self-starting ability. With the proposed laser structure, the multiple pulse formation can be suppressed and high power single pulse train can be obtained. The laser emits three pulse trains which is convenient for some applications. Finally, the output power values of three ports are 5.3 m W, 51.3 m W,and 13.2 m W, respectively. The total single pulse output power is 69.8 m W, which is more than 10 times the result without OC2. The total slope efficiency is about 10.1%. The repetition rate of three pulse trains is 21.17 MHz, and the pulse widths are 2.8 ps, 2.63 ps, and 6.66 ps, respectively.展开更多

文摘We report on a novel architecture to suppress the multi-pulse formation in an all-polarization-maintaining figure-9 erbium-doped fiber laser under high pump power. A 2×2 fiber coupler is introduced into the phase-biased nonlinear amplifying loop mirror to extract part of intracavity laser power as a laser output, and the dependence of output couple ratio of fiber coupler on the mode-locking state is experimentally investigated. 文摘A novel tunable comb filter composed of a single-mode/multimode/polarization-maintaining-fiber-based Sagnac fiber loop is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The filter tunability is achieved by rotating the polarization controller. The spectral shift is dependent on rotation direction and the position of the polarization controller. In addition, the adjustable range achieved by rotating the half-wave-plate polarization controller is twice higher than that of the quarter-wave-plate one.

文摘An all-fiber polarization maintaining high-power laser system operating at 1.7 μm based on the Ramaninduced soliton self-frequency shifting effect is demonstrated. The entirely fiberized system is built by erbiumdoped oscillator and two-stage amplifiers with polarization maintaining commercial silica fibers and devices, which can provide robust and stable soliton generation. High-power soliton laser with the average power of 0.28 W,the repetition rate of 42.7 MHz, and pulse duration of 515 fs is generated directly from the main amplifier. Our experiment provides a feasible method for high-power all-fiber polarization maintaining femtosecond laser generation working at 1.7 μm.
文摘We report a method for increasing the mechanical strength of carbon nanotube(CNT)fibers while enabling the uniform adhesion of cerium oxide(CeO_(2))abrasive particles to them using polyethyleneimine(PEI).Results show that 5%of PEI increases the tensile strength of CNT fibers by approximately 175%.CeO_(2) particles were uniformly deposited on the reinforced CNT fibers by electrophoretic deposition.A flexible polishing tool was fabricated by weaving the CeO_(2)-CNT fibers into a non-woven fabric substrate. When used to polish potassium dihydrogen phosphate crystals, the tool reduced the surface roughness from 200 to 7.6 nm within 10 min. This approach has potential use for the development of new precision processing tools.

文摘Silicon carbide fibers are considered ideal reinforcing materials for ceramic matrix composites due to their excellent mechanical properties and high-temperature performance.Different types of fibers necessitate individual investigation due to variations in their composition and fabrication processes. This study presents a comprehensive investigation into evolution of the mechanical properties, surface microstructure, and composition of Shicolon-Ⅱ fibers subjected to argon heat treatment at temperatures ranging from 1300℃to 1700℃.The Shicolon-Ⅱ fibers are composed of small-sized β-SiC grains,SiC_(x)O_(y) amorphous phase, and a minor amount of graphite microcrystals.Following treatment in an argon atmosphere at 1300℃,the fibers maintain a monofilament tensile strength of 3.620 GPa,corresponding to a retention of 98.32%.This strength diminishes to 2.875 GPa,equating to a retention of 78.08%,after treatment at 1500℃.The reduction in mechanical properties of the fibers can be ascribed to the decomposition of the amorphous phase and the growth of β-SiC grains.Furthermore, creep resistance is an essential factor influencing the long-term performance of composite materials. After treatment at temperatures above 1400℃,the high-temperature creep resistance of the fibers is significantly enhanced due to growth of β-SiC grains. This study offers valuable theoretical insights into high-temperature applications of second-generation fibers, contributing to an enhanced understanding of their performance under extreme conditions.
文摘We present a high-power, high-stability all-polarization-maintaining(all-PM) fiber femtosecond pulse laser source at 780 nm with full engineering integration that comprises an all-PM fiber amplified chirped pulse laser at 1560 nm, a grating pair compressor and a second-harmonic generation(SHG) module. The all-PM fiber amplified chirped pulse laser at 1560 nm operates with a repetition rate of 111.5 MHz and an average power of 5.37 W, which is compressed with a pulse width of about 204 fs. The 780-nm pulses are subsequently generated by SHG in a frequency-doubling crystal. We achieve an average power of 2.22 W at 780 nm with a pulse width of 288 fs, a SHG efficiency of 52%, and a root-mean-square power fluctuation of 0.23%, which is the best performance merit as far as we know. The whole laser system is finally integrated for practical applications with reliable laser operation. We anticipate that this 780-nm all-PM fiber femtosecond pulse laser with full engineering integration is promising for frontier applications such as two-photon imaging, nanofabrication, terahertz generation, etc.
文摘An alternative elliptical and circle air-hole-assisted Al_(0.24)Ga_(0.76)As photonic crystal fiber(PCF)was proposed for generating broadband high-coherence mid-infrared supercontinuum, and the dispersion,effect-ive mode area and nonlinear coefficient were investigated by using finite element method(FEM),the evolu-tion of optical pulses propagating along the fiber was simulated, and the supercontinuum and the coherence were analyzed and evaluated under different pumping conditions. The results show that a supercontinuum spectrum with a spectral width of 4.852μm can be obtained in the proposed fiber with d_(1)/Λof 0.125,d_(2)/Λof 0.583 and the zero-dispersion wavelength of 3.228μm by pumping with a Gaussian pulse with a peak power of 800 W and a full width at half maximum(FWHM)of 20 fs at wavelength of 3.3μm.When the fiber is pumped by the pulse with the peak power of 2000 W,the FWHM of 80 fs at the wavelength of 4.0μm in the in the anomalous dispersion region, the modulation instability is obviously suppressed, and the high-coher-ence supercontinuum spectrum spanning from 1.1μm to 8.99μm is observed.A part of the pulse energy is transferred to the anomalous dispersion region when pumped at the wavelength of 2.8μm in the normal dis-persion region and a broadband high-coherence supercontinuum spectrum extending from 0.8μm to 9.8μm is generated in the 10 mm proposed fiber. This paper introduces elliptical air holes in the Al_(0.24)Ga_(0.76)As photonic crystal fiber, which enhances flexibility for tailoring the performance of supercontinuum, ultimately achieving the broadest supercontinuum spectrum with the shortest fiber length to date.
文摘We report on a wide-band and stable mode-locked all-polarization-maintaining fiber laser configuration using a nonlinear optical loop mirror. The central wavelength of the laser is 1080.14nm and the 3dB bandwidth is 20.29nm. The repetition rate of the pulse is 3.28 MHz and the pulse width is 848ps. By tuning the pump power, which is centered at 980nrn, from 300mW to 380mW, we obtain a linearly changed output power from 6row to 7.12roW. The all-polarization-mMntaining fiber configuration is fundamental to the stability of the output power.
