In particular, the choices of the regularization matrices as well as the approaches for estimating the regularization parameters are investigated in details. The numerical results show that the regularized solutions derived from the first-order regularization are better than the ones obtained from zero-order regularization. For cross validation, the optimal regularization parameters are estimated from L-curve, variance component estimation(VCE) and minimum standard deviation(MSTD) approach, respectively, and the results show that the derived regularization parameters from different methods are consistent with each other. Together with the firstorder Tikhonov regularization and VCE method, the optimal network of Poisson wavelets is derived, based on which the local gravimetric geoid is computed. The accuracy of the corresponding gravimetric geoid reaches 1.1 cm in Netherlands, which validates the reliability of using Tikhonov regularization method in tackling the ill-conditioned problem for regional gravity field modeling.展开更多

Numerically solving this system becomes challenging due to the stiff collision term and stiff nonlinear transport term with respect to the high field. We present a class of Asymptotic-Preserving scheme which is efficient in the high field regime, namely, large time steps and coarse meshes can be used, yet the high field limit is still captured. The idea is to combine the two stiff terms and treat them implicitly. Thanks to the linearity of the collision term, using the discretization described in [Jin S, Yah B. J. Comp. Phys., 2011, 230: 6420-6437] we only need to invert a symmetric matrix. This method can be easily extended to higher dimensions. The method is shown to be positive, stable, mass and asymptotic preserving. Numerical experiments validate its efficiency in both kinetic and high field regimes including mixing regimes.展开更多

However, conducting experiments to estimate mechanical properties at this scale is extremely challenging. Therefore, development of mechanistic models to estimate the mechanical properties of CNTs along with the integration of existing continuum mechanics concepts is critically important. This paper presents a comprehensive molecular dynamics simulation study on the size dependency and potential function influence of mechanical properties of CNT. Commonly used reactive bond order (REBO) and adaptive intermolecular reactive bond order (A1REBO) potential functions were considered in this regard. Young's modulus and shear modulus of CNTs are derived by integrating classical continuum mechanics concepts with molecular dynamics simulations. The results indicate that the potential function has a significant influence on the estimated mechanical properties of CNTs, and the influence of potential field is much higher when studying the torsional behaviour of CNTs than the tensile behaviour.展开更多

The physics-based analytical models for calculating the performance of the proposed device are obtained by solving one- and two-dimensional Poisson's equations. In the models, we take into account not only two regions under the gate but also a third high field region between the gate and the drain which is usually omitted. The direct-current and the alternating- current performances for the proposed 4H-SiC MESFET with a buffer layer of 0.2 ~tm are calculated. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental data. The current is larger than that of the conventional structure. The cutoff frequency (fT) and the maximum oscillation frequency (fmax) are 20.4 GHz and 101.6 GHz, respectively, which are higher than 7.8 GHz and 45.3 GHz of the conventional structure. Therefore, the proposed 4H-SiC MESFET structure has better power and microwave performances than the conventional structure.展开更多
