Nonsegmented negative-sense RNA viruses(nsNSVs)-including highly pathogenic pathogens such as measles virus(MeV),Nipah virus(NiV),Hendra virus(HeV),Ebola virus(EBOV),and others-pose major global health threats,yet mos...Nonsegmented negative-sense RNA viruses(nsNSVs)-including highly pathogenic pathogens such as measles virus(MeV),Nipah virus(NiV),Hendra virus(HeV),Ebola virus(EBOV),and others-pose major global health threats,yet most lack approved antiviral therapeutics.In the recent study,high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)revealed previously unrecognized allosteric pockets in the large(L)polymerase proteins of MeV and NiV,spatially distinct from the catalytic nucleotide-binding site.We further demonstrated that the non-nucleoside inhibitor ERDRP-0519 engages these pockets to allosterically‘lock’the polymerase in a mechanically inactive state.These findings reveal an allosteric mechanism of inhibition rooted in the conformational mechanics of the enzyme and highlight opportunities for integrating artificial intelligence(AI)-aided drug discovery(AIDD)into rational drug design.展开更多

The short-channel effects (SC...Dual-material gate MOSFET with dielectric pockets (DMGDP MOSFET) is proposed to eliminate the potential weakness of the DP MOSFET for CMOS scaling toward the 32 nm gate length and beyond. The short-channel effects (SCE) can be effectively suppressed by the insulator near the source/drain regions. And the suppression capability can be even better than the DP MOSFET due to the drain bias absorbed by the screen gate. The speed performance and electronic characteristics of the DMGDP MOSFET are comprehensively studied. Compared to the experimental data from Jurczak et al., the DMGDP PMOSFET exhibits good subthreshold characteristics and the on-state current is almost the twice that of the DP PMOSFET. The intrinsic delay of the NMOS reaches 21% greater than the DP MOSFET for 32 nm node. The higher fT of 390 GHz is achieved, which is a 32% enhancement in comparison with the DP MOSFET when the gate length is 50 nm. Finally, the design guideline and the optimal regions of the DMGDP MOSFET are discussed.展开更多
Numerical modelling is an effective technique to improve the understanding of outburst initiation mechanisms and to take appropriate measures to address their threats.Based on the existing two-way sequential coupling ...Numerical modelling is an effective technique to improve the understanding of outburst initiation mechanisms and to take appropriate measures to address their threats.Based on the existing two-way sequential coupling method,two typical types of outbursts,i.e.the gas pocket outburst and the dynamic fracturing outburst,have been successfully simulated using field data from a coalfield in central China.The geological structure commonly observed in the coalfield,known as the‘bedding shear zone’,contributes to the gas pocket outbursts in the region.The model for this type of outburst simulates mininginduced stress and gas pressure distributions during the outburst initiation stage and the subsequent development stage.Both coal ejection and gas release are observed in the model,and the simulation results are consistent with mine site observations,i.e.the amount of ejected coal,outburst cavity profile,and gas release rate change prior to an outburst.The second type of outburst is attributed to gas accumulation and elevated gas pressure due to the gassy floor seam and the heterogeneity in the floor strata,which is explained by the dynamic fracturing theory.While the dynamic coal ejection phenomenon is not captured in the simulation,the abrupt release of retained gas from a floor coal seam is successfully replicated.Both outburst models reveal that abnormal gas emission trends can be used as indicators of an upcoming outburst.The results of this study are expected to provide new insights into the outburst initiation mechanisms and outburst prevention measures.展开更多

The design and development of the software and hardware of the proposed system are given. In addition to the basic data acquisition and processing functions, the gateway supports the Bluetooth-based local interface and the general packet radio service (GPRS)-based remote interface. Users on the client service side can use a pocket PC or notebook PC to achieve real-time data acquisition and control instruction implementation, or remotely control the home control system through a mobile phone by sending a short message. The Labview graphical development environment is adopted to create PDA applications running on pocket PCs and monitoring platform established on notebook PCs. Except for the gateway, other nodes in the system work in sleep mode most of the time on the system, and thus it improves the lifetime of the whole system efficiently.展开更多
