In Exp. 1, 192 pigs ( 10.58 kg) were assigned to one of four treatments. The treatments consisted of diets with a ME content of 3.2, 3.25, 3.3, or 3.35 Mcal/kg with a constant SID-Lys:ME ratio of 3.7 g/Mcal. The experiment lasted 28 days. Pigs which were fed the diets containing 3.3 and 3.35 Mcal/kg ME had lower feed intakes ( P 〈 0.05)than those fed 3.2 Mcal/kg. Feed efficiency was linearly improved with increasing dietary ME ( P 〈0.05). Increasing the dietary ME level also increased (P 〈0.05 ) dry matter and energy digestibility. Therefore,3.3 Mcal/kg ME was selected for Exp. 2 in which 288 pigs ( 10.60 kg) were assigned to one of six treatments. In this paper, optical emission studies of laser induced plasma on commercial tea samples were carried out. The spectral intensities of Mg, Mn, Ca, A1, C and CN vibration bands varying with laser energy and the detection delay time of an intensified charge coupled device were studied. In addition, the relative concentrations of six microelements, i.e., Mg, Mn, Ca, Al, Na and K, were analyzed semi-quantitatively as well as H, for four kinds of tea samples. Moreover, the plasma parameters were explored, including electron temperature and electron number density. The electron temperature and electron number density were around 11000 K and 1017 cm-3, respectively. The results show that it is reasonable to consider the LIBS technique as a new method for analyzing the compositions of tea leaf samples.展开更多

A typical shot is selected for analyzing electron temperature, density and power flux at targets. Both higher electron density and lower electron temperature are found at the inboard target, compared to those at the outboard target. A higher power flux is also found to be at the outboard target because of in-out asymmetries for LSN-shaped discharge.展开更多

The simulations show that the plasma geometry has strong influence on the electron temperature's evolution while the effect of the flux limiter is not so significant. The simulations are in good agreement with the experiments only at some spatial points. A full comparison between the simulations and experiments indicates that the one-dimensional code is not accurate enough to characterize the laser-produced plasmas. A post-processor code based on the hydro code is developed to generate the streak image of the Thomson scattering spectra, which can be directly compared with the experimental data.展开更多

The effect of different laser energy and the effect of different laser wavelengths were compared. The experimentally observed line profiles of neutral aluminum have been used to extract the excitation temperature using the Boltzmann plot method, whereas the electron number density has been determined from the Stark broadened as well as using the Saha-Boltzmann equation (SBE). Each approach was also carried out by using the AI emission line and Mg emission lines. It was observed that the,SBE method generated a little higher electron number density value than the Stark broadening, method, but within the experimental uncertainty range. Comparisons of Ne determined by the two methods show the presence of a linear relation which is independent of laser energy or laser wavelength. These results show the applicability of the SBE method for Are determination, especially when the system does not have any pure emission lines whose electron impact factor is known, Also use of Mg lines gives superior results than Al lines.展开更多

The 532 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser generates the optical breakdown plasma, which was recorded by a spectrometer and an intensified charge coupled device having a resolution of 25 pm. Neutral and ionized uranium lines in the wavelength range of 385.8-391.9 nm indicate significant width and shift variations during the first few microseconds. Electron temperature and density of the plasma are determined using the Boltzmann plot and the Saha-Boltzmann equation at various time delay. The study reveals the power law decay pattern of electron temperature and density, which changes to exponential decay pattern if large gate- width is used to acquire the signal, due to an averaging effect.展开更多

The effects of the carrier gas flow rate and molybdenum powder feeding rate on the shape and size of the final products were studied. The molybdenum powder morphology was examined using high-resolution scanning electron microscopy. The powder phases were analyzed by X-ray diffraction. The tap density and apparent density of the molybdenum powder were investigated using a Hall flow meter and a Scott volumeter. The optimal process parameters for the spherical molybdenum powder preparation are 50 g/min powder feeding rate and 0.6 m^3/h carrier gas rate. In addition, pure spherical molybdenum powder can be obtained from irregular powder, and the tap density is enhanced after plasma processing. The average size is reduced from 72 to 62 μm, and the tap density is increased from 2.7 to 6.2 g/cm^3. Therefore, RF plasma is a promising method for the preparation of high-density and high-purity spherical powders.展开更多

The parameters associated with the probe fluo-3 AM were optimized to accurately determine fluorescence intensity from the Ca-bound probe. Using three optimized parameters(final concentration of 6 m M probe, incubation time of 135 min, loading probe before plasma treatment), the maximum fluorescence intensity(F?=?527.8 a.u.) and the minimum fluorescence intensity(F?=?63.8 a.u.) were obtained in a saturated Casolution or a solution of lacking Ca. Correspondingly, the maximum [Ca]cytinduced by cold plasma was 1232.5 n M. Therefore, the Caindicator fluo-3 AM was successfully applied to measure the absolute [Ca]cytin Saccharomyces cerevisiae stimulated by cold plasma at atmospheric air pressure.展开更多

Many experiments have been carried out on the plasma behavior in contact with a solid surface; when the surface material consists of chemical compounds (e.g. oxides of metals), then the plasma chemistry takes place. The present paper contains the final experimental and theoretical work of Plasma Laboratory at "Demokritos", which consists of an elaboration of plasma sheath parameters adapted to experimental conditions, a suitable choice of plasma gases (either H 2 or N 2 ), and an electric po-tential current enforcement on objects. Additionally, a brief theory is given to explain the results, with a short reference to both boundary phenomena in thermonuclear reactors and low pressure plasma of glow discharges, so as to reveal the similarities and differences of these two cases. An extensive examination of the treated objects by X-ray diffraction method (XRD) gives results in agreement with the theoretical predictions. Using this improvement on plasma restoration system, (a combination of electric current on metallic object into suitable plasma), it is shown that better results can be achieved on the cleaning and conservation of archaeological objects.展开更多

文摘Surface hydrophilicity improvement of titanium(Ti)is of great significance for the applications of the important biomaterial. In this study, efficient hydrophilicity on the Ti surface is improved by an air plasma jet generated by a microhollow cathode discharge(MHCD)geometry.Elementary discharge aspects of the plasma jet and surface characteristics of the Ti surface are investigated by varying dissipated power(P_(d)).The results show that the plasma jet can operate in a pulsed mode or a continuous mode, depending on P_(d).The plume length increases with Pdand air flow rate increasing.By optical emission spectroscopy, plasma parameters as a function of Pdare investigated. After plasma treatment, water contact angel(WCA)of the Ti sample decreases to a minimum value of 15°with Pdincreasing. In addition, the surface topography, roughness, and content of chemical composition are investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),atomic force microscopy(AFM),and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)with Pdincreasing. The results show that Ti-O bond and O-H group on the Ti surface are beneficial to the improvement of the hydrophilicity of Ti surface.

文摘Divertor plasma properties for lower single-null (LSN) configuration in EAST, under a water-cooling graphite wall condition, are presented. A typical shot is selected for analyzing electron temperature, density and power flux at targets. Both higher electron density and lower electron temperature are found at the inboard target, compared to those at the outboard target. A higher power flux is also found to be at the outboard target because of in-out asymmetries for LSN-shaped discharge.
文摘In a steady-state plasma, the loss rate of plasma particles to the chamber wall and surfaces in contact with plasma is balanced by the ionization rate of background neutrals in the hot-filament discharges. The balance between the loss rate and ionization rate of plasma particles(electrons and ions)maintains quasi-neutrality of the bulk plasma. In the presence of an external perturbation,it tries to retain its quasi-neutrality condition. In this work,we studied how the properties of bulk plasma are affected by an external DC potential perturbation. An auxiliary biased metal disk electrode was used to introduce a potential perturbation to the plasma medium.A single Langmuir probe and an emissive probe, placed in the line of the discharge axis, were used for the characterization of the bulk plasma. It is observed that only positive bias to the auxiliary metal disk increases the plasma potential, electron temperature, and plasma density but these plasma parameters remain unaltered when the disk is biased with a negative potential with respect to plasma potential. The observed plasma parameters for two different-sized,positively as well as negatively biased, metal disks are compared and found inconsistent with the existing theoretical model at large positive bias voltages. The role of the primary energetic electrons population in determining the plasma parameters is discussed. The experimentally observed results are qualitatively explained on the basis of electrostatic confinement arising due to the loss of electrons to a biased metal disk electrode.
文摘The effect of an external electric field on laser-generated plasma has been studied. It is observed that the laser-generated plasma can be used for the ignition of a spark in the presence of a low voltage external electric field. An eight-fold emission intensity enhancement in Cu I spectral lines are measured as compared to the signal intensity in the absence of an external electric field. The plasma parameters remain the same initially,up to a few microseconds after the generation of plasma, and this feature makes it more interesting for the quantitative analysis of any sample using laser induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS).In the presence of an external electric field, fluctuations(contraction and expansion)in the laser-generated plasma are observed which increase the plasma decay time and consequently result in enhanced signal intensity.

文摘The evolutions of the electron temperatures of Muminum plasmas produced with 0.351 μm laser are simulated by means of one-dimensional hydrodynamic code. A post-processor code based on the hydro code is developed to generate the streak image of the Thomson scattering spectra, which can be directly compared with the experimental data.
文摘We report spectroscopic studies on plasma electron number density of laser-induced plasma produced by ns-Nd:YAG laser light pulses on an aluminum sample in air at atmospheric pressure. These results show the applicability of the SBE method for Are determination, especially when the system does not have any pure emission lines whose electron impact factor is known, Also use of Mg lines gives superior results than Al lines.

文摘This work reports spectroscopic studies of uranium containing plasma generated in air and argon environments. The study reveals the power law decay pattern of electron temperature and density, which changes to exponential decay pattern if large gate- width is used to acquire the signal, due to an averaging effect.

文摘To control the morphology and particle size of dense spherical molybdenum powder prepared by radio frequency(RF) plasma from irregular molybdenum powder as a precursor, plasma process parameters were optimized in this paper. Therefore, RF plasma is a promising method for the preparation of high-density and high-purity spherical powders.

文摘In this study, a novel approach to measure the absolute cytoplasmic Caconcentration([Ca]cyt) using the Caindicator fluo-3 AM was established. Therefore, the Caindicator fluo-3 AM was successfully applied to measure the absolute [Ca]cytin Saccharomyces cerevisiae stimulated by cold plasma at atmospheric air pressure.
文摘During the last decades many researchers have been occupied with other plasma applications apart from the big challenge which the thermonuclear fusion poses. Using this improvement on plasma restoration system, (a combination of electric current on metallic object into suitable plasma), it is shown that better results can be achieved on the cleaning and conservation of archaeological objects.

文摘Ground lifetime test is the most crucial experiment to assess the performance, reliability.and flight qualification of electric propulsion, and it can bring new insights for understanding the operation characteristics. This work demonstrates a full lifetime test of 140000 cycles on a Micro-Cathode-Arc Thruster(μCAT)with 160μs charging time and 86 mJ charging energy.A four-probe resistivity measurement method is utilized to investigate variations in the conductive film thickness and resistivity throughout the thruster lifespan.Direct film parameters show that the lifetime of theμCAT can be divided into three stages. In the initial stage, the film thickness decreases by 1.2μm and the resistivity increases significantly due to the high discharge intensity and intense film ablation; In the steady stage, the change of the film thickness is within 5%,and the resistivity of the film increases slowly from 0.050Ω·mm to 0.223Ω·mm.In the end stage, the resistivity exponentially increases from 0.223Ω·mm to 1.176Ω·mm,with the increase accounting for 81%,ultimately resulting in the failure of the thruster open circuit.Additionally, the evolution of discharge parameters, and the variation of plume parameters are measured throughout the life-time.The discharge characteristics also show significant differences in the duration of voltage and current in these three stages. The results of plume shape and plasma parameters are also well con-sistent with the discharge parameters and film state. These results suggest that, for evaluating the steady stage lifetime of thrusters, the film thickness is the best indicator compared to the variations in resistivity and voltage-current characteristics. For the end stage, the plasma plume morphology.discharge duration, and plume parameters can conveniently and clearly characterize the thruster failures and irregularity.
