A wavelet collocation method with nonlinear auto companding is proposed for behavioral modeling of switched current circuits.The companding function is automatically constructed according to the initial error distribution obtained through approximating the input output function of the SI circuit by conventional wavelet collocation method.In practical applications,the proposed method is a general purpose approach,by which both the small signal effect and the large signal effect are modeled in a unified formulation to ease the process of modeling and simulation.Compared with the published modeling approaches,the proposed nonlinear auto companding method works more efficiently not only in controlling the error distribution but also in reducing the modeling errors.To demonstrate the promising features of the proposed method,several SI circuits are employed as examples to be modeled and simulated. 展开更多

Quasi-PID control method that is able to effectively inhibit the inherent tracking error of PI control method is proposed on the basis of a rounded theoretical analysis of a model of switching power amplifiers (SPAs). To avoid the harmful impacts of the circuit parameter variations and the random disturbances on quasi-PID control method, a single neuron is introduced to endow it with self-adaptability. Quasi-PID control method and the single neuron combine with each other perfectly, and their formation is named as single-neuron adaptive quasi-PID control method. Simulation and experimental results show that single-neuron adaptive quasi-PID control method can accurately track both the predictable and the unpredictable waveforms. Quantitative analysis demonstrates that the accuracy of single-neuron adaptive quasi-PID control method is comparable to that of linear power amplifiers (LPAs) and so can fulfill the requirements of some high-accuracy applications, such as protective relay test. Such accuracy is very difficult to be achieved by many modern control methods for converter controls. Compared with other modern control methods, the programming realization of single-neuron adaptive quasi-PID control method is more suitable for real-time applications and realization on low-end microprocessors for its simple structure and lower computational complexity. 展开更多

The finite-difference time-domain method is used to simulate the optical characteristics of an in-plane switching blue phase liquid crystal display.Compared with the matrix optic methods and the refractive method,the finite-difference timedomain method,which is used to directly solve Maxwell's equations,can consider the lateral variation of the refractive index and obtain an accurate convergence effect.The simulation results show that e-rays and o-rays bend in different directions when the in-plane switching blue phase liquid crystal display is driven by the operating voltage.The finitedifference time-domain method should be used when the distribution of the liquid crystal in the liquid crystal display has a large lateral change. 展开更多

Water content in output crude oil is hard to measure precisely because of wide range of dielectric coefficient of crude oil caused by injected dehydrating and demulsifying agents.The method to reduce measurement error of water content in crude oil proposed in this paper is based on switching measuring ranges of on-line water content analyzer automatically.Measuring precision on data collected from oil field and analyzed by in-field operators can be impressively improved by using back propogation (BP) neural network to predict water content in output crude oil.Application results show that the difficulty in accurately measuring water-oil content ratio can be solved effectively through this combination of on-line measuring range automatic switching and real time prediction,as this method has been tested repeatedly on-site in oil fields with satisfactory prediction results. 展开更多

A study was conducted during the 2016 rainy season at Jega Teaching and Research farm of Kebbi State University of Science and Technology to investigate the effect of sowing methods on the growth parameters,herbage and dry matter(DM)yield of Switch grass(Panicum vargatum)in the semi-arid zone of Nigeria.Treatment consisted of three sowing methods(broadcasting,dibbling and drilling)which were laid out in randomized complete block design(RCBD)replicated three times among three blocks.Each plot in each block was measuring,2 m×1 m.Seeds of Switch grass were sown manually at the rate of 5.6 kg/ha for all the treatments and NPK fertilizer was applied across the treatments at the rate of 100 kg/ha.The experiment lasted for 12 weeks during which the growth parameters and plant establishment counts were measured while fresh herbage and DM were determined after harvesting at the end of the period.The sowing methods had significant effect(p<0.05)on the growth parameters and herbage yield.The highest plant height(116.52 cm),leaf width(0.98 cm),leaf length(43.10 cm)and leaf number(9.37)was recorded for dibbling sowing method.Also,the highest fresh herbage(13.70 t/ha)and DM yield(2.33 t/ha)were recorded for dibbling sowing method.However,the mean establishment counts were not significantly(p>0.05)affected by the sowing methods.The results suggested that Switch grass can be successfully established in Sudan savanna zone by dibbling sowing methods for good growth performance,herbage and DM yield. 展开更多

Development of simple HPLC/UV with a column-switching method for the determination of nicotine and cotinine in hair samples

HPLC/UV is used widely in... Nicotine and cotinine in hair are good biomarkers for assessing long-term exposure to smoking. However, analytical devices such as GC/MS are associated with high cost and are not widely used. HPLC/UV is used widely in laboratories, but is unsuitable for measurement of minor constituents, except when using the column-switching method. Thus, we aimed to establish a simple, inexpensive and sensitive method based on HPLC/UV with column switching for measuring nicotine and cotinine in hair. First, we compared the presence and absence of a column selection unit. We then measured amounts of nicotine and cotinine in hair samples collected from the general population, and compared both the corresponding levels and the detection limits with those in previous studies. Finally, initial and running costs of HPLC/UV were compared with other analytical methods. As one of the results, the areas of nicotine and cotinine measured by HPLC/UV with column-switching method were 12.9 and 16.9 times greater, respectively, than those without the column-switching method. The amount of nicotine and cotinine in hair was significantly correlated to number of cigarettes smoked per day (r = 0.228, p = 0.040). In addition, the HPLC/UV method showed similar sensitivity and detection limit (nicotine, 0.10 ng/mg;cotinine, 0.08 ng/mg) as reported in previous studies. The cost of the HPLC/UV method is lower than that of other analytical methods. We were able to establish a low-cost method with good sensitivity for measuring nicotine and cotinine in hair. The HPLC/UV with a column-switching method will be useful as a first step in screening surveys in order to better understand the effects of smoking exposure. 展开更多

The precise computation of nanoelectromechanical switches’(NEMS)multi-physical interactions requires advanced numerical models and is a crucial part of the development of micro-and nano-systems.This paper presents a novel compound numerical method to study the instability of a functionally graded(FG)beam-type NEMS,considering surface elasticity effects as stated by Gurtin-Murdoch theory in an Euler-Bernoulli beam.The presented method is based on a combination of the Method of Adjoints(MoA)together with the Bézier-based multistep technique.By utilizing the MoA,a boundary value problem(BVP)is turned into an initial value problem(IVP).The resulting IVP is then solved by employing a cost-efficient multi-step process.It is demonstrated that the mentioned method can arrive at a high level of accuracy.Furthermore,it is revealed that the stability of the presented methodology is far better than that of other common multi-step methods,such as Adams-Bashforth,particularly at higher step sizes.Finally,the effects of axially functionally graded(FG)properties on the pull-in phenomenon and the main design parameters of NEMS,including the detachment length,are inspected.It was shown that the main parameter of design is the modulus of elasticity of the material,as Silver(Ag),which had better mechanical properties,showed almost a 6%improvement compared to aluminum(Al).However,by applying the correct amount of material with sturdier surface parameters,such as Aluminum(Al),at certain points,the nanobeams’functionality can be improved even further by around 1.5%. 展开更多

A wavelength interval switchable erbium-doped fiber laser based on cascaded and parallel Lyot filters

This study presents the design of an erbium-doped fiber laser(EDFL) featuring switchable wavelength intervals achieved through the implementation of cascaded and parallel Lyot filters. The proposed laser system utilizes a cascaded and parallel configuration of three Lyot filters, facilitated by a polarization beam splitter(PBS) for branch switching. The transmission properties of the filter are analyzed through theoretical modeling and experimental validation using the transmission matrix method. The experimental results are found to be consistent with the theoretical predictions, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed design. By adjusting the polarization controllers(PCs), the proposed laser can switch between wavelength spacings of 0.46 nm, 0.27 nm, and 0.76 nm, with a maximum optical signal-to-noise ratio(OSNR) of 38 d B. However, the stability of the laser with a 0.27 nm spacing is not high due to wavelength competition. Power fluctuation for 0.46 nm and 0.76 nm intervals is less than 0.93 d B and 0.78 d B in 1 h, with wavelength fluctuation less than 0.068 nm and 0.19 nm, respectively. This EDFL has the advantages of simple structure, great flexibility, and switchability, which can be applied to fiber optic sensing, wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) networks, and other fields that require a very flexible light source. 展开更多

Switching in Sliding Mode Control:A Spatio-Temporal Perspective

Sliding mode control(SMC)is a widely adopted control technology known for its robustness and simplicity.The essence of SMC is to use discontinuous control to drive a system into a pre-defined motion,called the sliding mode,which is designed with desirable dynamical properties.In the sliding mode,the controlled system is insensitive to the matched uncertainties and disturbances.Most SMC theory and methods have been developed based on the dynamical systems in the continuous-time domain,where switching functions play a critical role.Ideal switching is supposed to be instantaneous,activating as soon as the switching condition is met.However,in practice,switching mechanisms are affected by imperfections such as time delays,unmodeled dynamics,defects,digitization effects,and actuation limitations,which can degrade the salient properties of SMC.Understanding these effects and developing mitigation strategies are essential for industrial applications.Furthermore,the advent of networked control environments presents new challenges like limited communication bandwidth,latency and cyberattack,which have seen the emergence of the event-triggered SMC recently.Despite these significant advances,there is a lack of comprehensive studies which examine the commonalities and distinctions of utilizing switching in SMC across the continuous-time and discrete-time domains and beyond.This paper investigates the role of switching in SMC from a spatio-temporal perspective,considering both state-space and time aspects.The aim is to facilitate better understanding of its effects and misbehaviors,and to unlock its full potential for future applications.The interplay between SMC methods in the continuous-time and discrete-time domains is analyzed,and their shared principles and unique challenges are identified.Furthermore,important technical issues relating to switching across these time domains are explored,and several myths and pitfalls in their theory and applications are depicted.The relationships of SMC with other switching-based control systems such as switched control systems,fuzzy control systems,and event-triggered control systems are discussed.The impact of networked control environments on SMC in the continuous-time and discrete-time domains is also examined.Finally,key challenges and opportunities are outlined for future work in SMC and beyond. 展开更多

开关磁阻电机转速受到负载干扰具有很强的非线性、多变量特性,使转速稳定控制变得困难。为了解决这个问题,提出了嵌入式传感器数据滤波下开关磁阻电机转速控制。采用压缩感知理论,对嵌入式传感器中传感节点时域进行重建处理,获得全面转... 开关磁阻电机转速受到负载干扰具有很强的非线性、多变量特性,使转速稳定控制变得困难。为了解决这个问题,提出了嵌入式传感器数据滤波下开关磁阻电机转速控制。采用压缩感知理论,对嵌入式传感器中传感节点时域进行重建处理,获得全面转速数据;设计基于多层中值滤波的双边滤波算法,消除高斯、椒盐噪声并完整保留数据细节;基于开关磁阻电机非线性特点,使用模糊自抗扰模型对电机扰动进行实时估计与补偿,实现电机转速精准控制。由实验可知,应用所提方法在负载突增减条件下能够将转速波动控制在12 r/min以下,并在0.06 s时控制回到预定转速;电机转速控制误差在-15 r/min~10 r/min内变化,能够达到高性能的开关磁阻电机转速控制。 展开更多

高压开关设备的温升试验对保障电力系统安全运行至关重要。针对传统高压开关温升试验耗时长、能耗高和安全隐患等问题,文中提出了基于热时间常数的温升稳定值预测方法以优化试验效率。首先,介绍了热时间常数理论及计算方法,给出了温升... 高压开关设备的温升试验对保障电力系统安全运行至关重要。针对传统高压开关温升试验耗时长、能耗高和安全隐患等问题,文中提出了基于热时间常数的温升稳定值预测方法以优化试验效率。首先,介绍了热时间常数理论及计算方法,给出了温升曲线方程,提出了可利用最小二乘法拟合温升曲线以获取相关参数。然后,通过对GW12kV户外隔离开关、GW40.5kV户外隔离开关和ZW32⁃12/630A户外柱上开关进行试验验证,结果表明该方法预测结果偏差在±3 K内。最后,提出了预热试验优化策略,文中所选3种开关温升试验时间分别缩短约36.2%、45.2%、41.4%,能耗分别降低了31.1%、40.0%、33.8%,有效提升了试验效率和能效,为优化高压开关温升试验提供了可行的策略。 展开更多
