Objective: to analyze the effect of fluoride varnish on the prevention of children's first permanent molar caries and the incidence of dental caries, and to provide reference for the prevention of children's dental caries. Methods: a total of 310 children with eruption of mandibular first molars who underwent routine physical examination in kindergartens in this city from August 2018 to October 2019 were randomly selected as research objects. They were randomly divided into the control group and the study group with 155 children in each group receiving different oral care measures, and the situation in the next 24 months was tracked and studied. The children in the control group were given routine oral care such as brushing their teeth in the morning and evening and gargling after meals, while the children in the study group were given oral care based on this. The occurrence of caries of the first permanent molars in the two groups at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months after physical examination and the preventive effect of the two kinds of care measures were observed and compared. Results: after 6 months of nursing, there was no significant difference in the incidence of caries between the two groups (1.83%vs2.17%) (P > 0.05). In the last three stages, the incidence of dental caries in children showed an upward trend. The incidence rates in the study group were 6.33%, 9.67% and 13.17% respectively, and the incidence rates in the control group were 14.33%, 19.50% and 24.83%, respectively. Compared with the control group, the incidence rates of dental caries in the study group were lower than those in the control group at each stage (p < 0.05). In addition, 6 months after nursing, there was no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). In the last three stages, the average caries and caries surface of the two groups increased gradually, but the average caries and caries surface of the study group were lower at each stage (P < 0.05). Conclusion: fluorine protective paint has good preventive effect on children's first permanent molar caries, and the incidence of dental caries is low within two years, which is worthy of wide promotion. 展开更多

Objective: The purpose of this study was to detect the prevalence of distolingual(DL) roots in the permanent mandibular molars in a Chinese population by using cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT).Methods : A total of 500Chinese patients'CBCT images were examined. The incidences and bilateral concurrence rates of DL roots were determined for the permanent mandibular first, second and third molars. The differences between sexes and sides were tested by using Chi-square tests. The antimeric correlations for occurrence of the trait were analyzed with the Spearman's rank order correlation test. Results : The prevalence of 3-rooted mandibular first molars was 31.98%(134 / 419individuals) calculated by individuals, and 25.89%(217 / 838teeth) calculated by teeth. The bilateral concurrence rate was 61.94%.A significant right-side predilection was found in the female group(P=0.025) as well as for both sexes combined(P=0.009).The Spearman's correlations coefficient between antimeres was 0.77(P=0.000).The prevalence of DL roots in the mandibular second and third molars were 2.02%(8 / 396individuals) and 12.10%(19 / 157individuals),respectively.The corresponding bilateral concurrence rate was 12.50% and 35.83%,and the bilateral correlation coefficient was 0.22(P=0.000) and 0.50(P=0.000),respectively.Conclusion : Clinicians should be aware of the high prevalence of the DL roots in the Chinese population.Understanding the pattern of occurrence would be useful for dental treatment. 展开更多

Mandibular buccal bifurcation cyst is a rare inflammatory odontogenic cyst.We reported two cases who complained of painful swelling of extraoral soft tissue.Intraoral examination revealed the partially erupted mandibular first molar.Cone beam computed tomography showed a well-defined cystic lesion surrounding the first molar.Histopathologic images showed the cyst wall was infiltrated by a large number of plasma cells, neutrophils and eosinophils, and lined with a thin layer of non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium. Finally, the two patients were diagnosed as mandibular buccal bifurcation cyst and treated with cyst enucleation and curettage. 展开更多
