The property IR was introduced by Friis and Rordam in 1996.They proved that any pair of almost commuting self-adjoint elements is norm close to a pair of exactly commuting self-adjoint elements in any C^(*)-algebras with the property IR.In this paper,we will prove some permanence results for IR-algebras,approximate IR-algebras and local IR-algebras.Finally,we will also show that any pair of almost commuting self-adjoint elements is norm close to a pair of exactly commuting self-adjoint elements in any local IR-algebra. 展开更多

We investigate a stage-structured delayed predator-prey model with impulsive stocking on prey and continuous harvesting on predator. According to the fact of biological resource management, we improve the assumption of a predator-prey model with stage structure for predator population that each individual predator has the same ability to capture prey. It is assumed that the immature and mature individuals of the predator population are divided by a fixed age, and immature predator population does not have the ability to attach prey. Sufficient conditions are obtained, which guarantee the global attractivity of predator-extinction periodic solution and the permanence of the system. Our results show that the behavior of impulsive stocking on prey plays an important role for the permanence of the system, and provide tactical basis for the biological resource management. Numerical analysis is presented to illuminate the dynamics of the system. 展开更多

This study considers a delayed biological system of predator-prey interactions where the predator has stage-structured preference. It is assumed that the prey population has two stages: immature and mature. The predator population has different preference for the stage-structured prey. This type of behavior has been reported in Asecodes hispinarum and Microplitis mediator. By some lemmas and methods of delay differential equation, the conditions for the permanence, existence of positive periodic solution and extinction of the system are obtained. Numerical simulations are presented that illustrate the analytical results as well as demonstrate certain biological phenomena. In particular, overcrowding of the predator does not affect the persistence of the system, but our numerical simulations suggest that overcrowding reduces the density of the predator. Under the assumption that immature prey is easier to capture, our simulations suggest that the predator’s preference for immature prey increases the predator density. 展开更多

The architectural style found in Wa and Tamale is renowned for its distinctive use of earthen construction,which features square buildings with fat roofs and circular compounds with conical thatch roofs.Recently,there has been a growing inclination towards the use of alternative construction techniques in which nontraditional materials such as cement,bitumen,and used car engine oil are utilised to render wall surfaces.These structures show how the mate‑rials and design in northern Ghana have substantially evolved.However,what forces drive the changes in cob construction in this region?Furthermore,how might these changes impact the preservation of cultural heritage in Ghana?To explore the factors that contribute to the departure from traditional earthen building methods that rely on local materials,this study employs a constructivist research approach.Participants in a survey that informed this study revealed that they struggled to access building materials to construct their houses.While most of the people who responded to the survey have resided in buildings constructed with a mixture of beini and dawadawa,they hesi‑tate to use plant-based biostabilisers in new constructions.Factors that hinder the ongoing construction and pres‑ervation of earthen buildings include shifting cultural and social norms,environmental changes,difculties access‑ing local building resources,food risks,regular maintenance requirements,and societal infuences.Thus,this study concludes that if communities are empowered to take ownership and recognise the value of their cultural heritage,they are likely to be increasingly aware and appreciative of their architectural heritage.Thus,their local heritage will be preserved. 展开更多

This paper presents a high-fidelity lumpedparameter(LP)thermal model(HF-LPTM)for permanent magnet synchronous machines(PMSMs)in electric vehicle(EV)applications,where various cooling techniques are considered,including frame forced air/liquid cooling,oil jet cooling for endwinding,and rotor shaft cooling.To address the temperature misestimation in the LP thermal modelling due to assumptions of concentrated loss input and uniform heat flows,the developed HF-LPTM introduces two compensation thermal resistances for the winding and PM components,which are analytically derived from the multi-dimensional heat transfer equations and are robust against different load/thermal conditions.As validated by the finite element analysis method and experiments,the conventional LPTMs exhibit significant winding temperature deviations,while the proposed HF-LPTM can accurately predict both the midpoint and average temperatures.The developed HFLPTM is further used to assess the effectiveness of various cooling techniques under different scenarios,i.e.,steady-state thermal states under the rated load condition,and transient temperature profiles under city,freeway,and hybrid(city+freeway)driving cycles.Results indicate that no single cooling technique can maintain both winding and PM temperatures within safety limits.The combination of frame liquid cooling and oil jet cooling for end winding can sufficiently mitigate PMSM thermal stress in EV applications. 展开更多
