Peaches (Prunus persica L.) pulp mitigate type 2 diabetic mice by modulating of glucose metabolism and gut microbiota

Peach are a fruit with high nutritional and economic value,but their safety and suitability for diabetic patients have been questioned.This study investigated the effects and potential mechanisms of peach pulp(PP)on type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)in mice induced by a high-fat diet(HFD)combined with streptozotocin(STZ).The results showed that PP alleviated hyperglycemia,hyperlipidemia,hyperuricemia,and tissue dysfunction in T2DM mice through the synergistic effect of nutrients and non-nutrient compounds.Analysis of mRNA expression levels revealed that PP improved glucose metabolism in T2DM mice by promoting glycogen synthesis and inhibiting gluconeogenesis.Furthermore,elevated levels of PP resulted in an increase in acetic acid content following a 4 weeks intervention period.Additionally,it led to the restoration of gut microbiota balance by decreasing the Firmicutes/Bacteroidota(F/B)ratio and enhancing the presence of Romboutsia,Allobaculum,Alloprevotella,and Bacteroides after an 8 weeks intervention.Ultimately,our results suggest that PP may offer advantages for individuals with diabetes. 展开更多

[Objectives]This study was conducted to investigate the impact of soybean intercropping on soil fertility in the planting areas of high-quality peach orchards in Shenxi Town,Zunyi City,Guizhou Province.[Methods]Soil samples were collected during the seedling,growth,and maturity stages of soybeans from both non-intercropped soil(control check group,CK)and soybean-intercropped soil(Qiandou 11,experimental group,EK).Analysis was conducted on soil fertility properties,including alkali-hydrolyzable N,available P,and available K.[Results]The impact of soybean intercropping on soil physicochemical properties was primarily manifested as the increased levels of alkali-hydrolyzable N and available K and the decreased level of available P in the soil during the seedling,growing,and maturity stages.Overall,this approach optimized and enhanced soil fertility in the peach orchards,providing a viable pathway for soil improvement in peach orchards located in karst areas.[Conclusions]The findings of this study provide a scientific basis for the high-quality development of high-quality peach orchards. 展开更多

Peach, an economically important model plant of the Rosaceae family, has been domesticated and cultivated in China for approximately5 000 years. The Hexi Corridor, an important corridor connecting east-central China a... Peach, an economically important model plant of the Rosaceae family, has been domesticated and cultivated in China for approximately5 000 years. The Hexi Corridor, an important corridor connecting east-central China and the Tarim Basin, is the starting point of the Silk Road that links China and the Eurasian region. As a globally distributed fruit tree, the spread of peach was accomplished through historical trade routes in the Hexi Corridor and the Tarim Basin. However, knowledge of peach genetic diversity in these regions remains limited. In this study,we examined the relationships and the spread history of domesticated peaches through sequencing and genomic analysis of 161 peach accessions collected from Northwest China, including 43 from the Hexi Corridor and 104 from the Tarim Basin. The results indicate that peach landraces in the Hexi Corridor and the Tarim Basin are derivatives of peaches from the east and south of China (ESC). Notably, the genetic diversity of accessions from both the Hexi Corridor and the Tarim Basin was lower than that of ESC accessions. Reduction of diversity (ROD) and linkage disequilibrium (LD) analyses detected a genetic bottleneck in peaches from these regions. Additionally, these peaches have undergone varying degrees of selection from natural environment. Moreover, genes responsive to biotic and abiotic stresses were under selection, which could be the result of the climate change of Northwest China after the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). Our findings provide a better understanding of the genetic basis of peach migration in Northwest China. Furthermore, this study expands the available genomic data for peaches and provides critical information for future peach breeding programs. 展开更多

Water management is an important practice that affects fruit size and quality.Effective implementation of irrigation scheduling requires knowledge of the appropriate indicators and thresholds,which are established manly based on the effects of water deficits on final fruit quality.Few studies have focused on the real-time effects of water status on fruit and shoot growth.To establish soil water potential (ψ_(soil)) thresholds to trigger irrigation of peach at pivotal fruit developmental stages,photogrammetry,^(13)C labelling,and other techniques were used in this study to investigate real-time changes in stem diameter,fruit projected area,net leaf photosynthetic rate (P_(n)),and allocation of photoassimilates to fruit under soil water potential conditions ranging from saturation to stress in 6-year-old Shimizu hakuto’peach.Stem growth,fruit growth,and P_n exhibited gradually decreasing sensitivity to water deficits during fruit developmental stages I,II,and III.Stem diameter growth was significantly inhibited whenψ_(soil)dropped to-8.5,-7.6,and-5.4 k Pa,respectively.Fruit growth rate was low,reaching zero when theψ_(soil)was-9.0 to-23.1,-14.9 to-21.4,and-16.5 to-23.3 k Pa,respectively,and P_ndecreased significantly when theψ_(soil)reached-24.2,-22.7,and-20.4 kPa,respectively.In addition,more photoassimilates were allocated to fruit under moderateψ_(soil)conditions (-10.1 to-17.0 k Pa) than under otherψ_(soil)values.Our results revealed threeψ_(soil)thresholds,-10.0,-15.0,and-15.0 kPa,suitable for triggering irrigation during stages I,II,and III,respectively.These thresholds can be helpful for controlling excessive tree vigor,maintaining rapid fruit growth and leaf photosynthesis,and promoting the allocation of more photoassimilates to fruit. 展开更多

Bud dormancy facilitates the survival of meristems under harsh environmental conditions.To elucidate how molecular responses to chilling accumulation controlling dormancy in peach buds,chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing to identify the H3K27me3 modifications and RNA sequencing of two peach cultivars with pronounced differences in chilling requirement were carried out,the results showed that genes associated with abscisic acid and gibberellic acid signal pathways play key roles in dormancy regulation.The results demonstrated that peach flower bud differentiation occurred continuously in both cultivars during chilling accumulation,which was correlated with the transcript abundance of key genes involved in phytohormone metabolism and flower bud development under adverse conditions.The more increased strength in high chillingrequirement cultivar along with the chilling accumulation at the genome-wide level.The function of the dormancy-associated MADS-box gene PpDAM6 was identified,which is involved in leaf bud break in peach and flower development in transgenic Nicotiana tabacum(NC89).In addition,PpDAM6 was positively regulated by PpCBF,and the genes of putative dormancy-related and associated with metabolic pathways were proposed.Taken together,these results constituted a theoretical basis for elucidating the regulation of peach bud dormancy transition. 展开更多

[Objectives]This study was conducted to clarify the enrichment and paucity of trace elements in the soil environment of peach orchards in Zunyi City,and to provide reference for supplementary application of microelement fertilizers and high-quality peach production in peach orchards.[Methods]Taking the soil of three typical peach orchards(Taoli Renjia peach orchard,Pengrui peach orchard and Taohuadao peach orchard)in Shenxi Town,Honghuagang District,Zunyi City as the research object,the contents of trace elements in soil were analyzed through field sampling and indoor determination of trace elements.[Results]The effective contents of trace elements in the soil of peach orchard bases in the study area were at a medium level,and the soil of the peach orchards was rich in available Fe and Se.The contents of available Cu,Mo and Mn were relatively rich.The contents of available B were not high overall.The contents of available Zn were at a moderate to low level overall.The soil of Taoli Renjia peach orchard was relatively rich in trace elements.[Conclusions]The research results can provide a scientific basis for the production of high-quality crispy peaches in peach orchards. 展开更多

[ Method] The analysis of fruit firmness of peach germplasm resource was based on the improved firmness measurement, and the probability grading of characteristics was carried out on peach fruit firmness. [Result] The coefficient of variation of peach fruit firmness with skin was less than that of fruit firmness without skin; the fruit firmness with skin and fruit firmness without skin were both fitted the normal distribution; the probability grading of characteristics were divided into five series based on four points of (X-1. 281 8s), (X-0. 524 6s), (X+0. 524 6s) and (X+1.281 8s), so that the probability of 1 -5 were 10%, 20%, 40%, 20% and 10%. [Conclusion] There was more abundant genetic basis in fruit firmness, which held a potential for greater choice. 展开更多

With Hongli Feicheng Peach as the test material, the effects of bagging with 4 kinds of paper bags and 3 kinds of non-woven bags on the soluble sugar, organic acids and aroma compounds in peach fruits were investigated using headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) combined with gas chromatogra- phy-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results showed that there were significant differences in sugar and acids contents of peach fruits between different bagging treatments. The sugar con- tent of peach fruits was increased when bagged with single-layer inner-black outer- yellow paper bags and double-layer inner-white outer-yellow paper bags. The organ- ic acid content in peach fruits bagged with all the types of bags except the single- layer inner-black outer-yellow paper bag was increased greatly. The count and rela- tive content of aroma compounds were all decreased after bagging. Combined with the detection results of soluble sugar, organic acids and aroma compounds, the sin- gle-layer inner-black outer-yellow paper bag was suitable for bagging of Hongli Fe- icheng peach. 展开更多

Peeling trunk,binding insect-attracting belt,cleaning orchard and soil-covering under the crown were the control methods on overwintering generation of oriental fruit moth.However,they had not been applied widely on the production because of the lack of systematic quantitative evaluation.Aiming at this fact,the control effects of these technical measures were studied in peach with different ripening period.The results showed that peeling trunk was the best with the control effect of88.64%.The control effect of binding insect-attracting belt of grass bundle was74.13%,which was the most economical and efficient.Covering with soil layer of 3cm under the crown during the middle ten days of March could holdback the adult getting out from soil.Cleaning deadwood could clean out the overwintering larvae on the ground. 展开更多

In this study, peaches of cv. 'Sui Yuan' with different maturities were treated with 0.05 mM sodium nitroprusside (SNP), a nitric oxide donor, for 5 min, at 28℃, and then stored at 0-1.5℃ for 30 days. Untreated fruits stored under the same conditions were used as control fruits in the experiment. The browning level, activities of polyphenol oxidase (PPO), peroxydase (POD) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), and quality parameters (firmness, titratable acid, total soluble solids and total sugar) were analyzed. The results showed that the firmness of SNP-treated fruit at different stage of maturity were higher than that of the control fruit after storage for 30 days. However, no significant effect was found on total soluble solid content. The titratable acid content of low maturity fruit was higher in SNP-treated one than that of the control, but the titratable acid content of high maturity fruit treated by SNP was lower than that of the control on 10th and 30th day. In addition, the combination of SNP treatment and high maturity resulted in higher activities of SOD, lower activity of PPO and POD, lower browning level. Therefore, the combination of high maturity and SNP treatment might be a useful method to well maintain honey peach fruit quality during cold storage. 展开更多

The results showed that the effects of chicken manure on soil fertility were poorer compared with organic fertilizers, but the former would bet-ter promote peach tree growth and improve yields. On the other hand, the peach fruits applied with chicken manures were smal in size and poor in commercial val-ue. What’s worse, disease rate reached 31.2% and the fruits could not be stored for a long term. Therefore, the compound management model combining agriculture and animal husbandry should intensify epidemic prevention to take place of organic fertilizers. 展开更多
