third-party manuscript preparation/editing services(which can include paper mills),and also to assess levels of awareness regarding different types of publishing ethics misconduct,we surveyed members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)Journal Ranking WeChat channel.Design/methodology/approach:The online survey collected voluntary anonymous responses from members of the CAS Journal Ranking WeChat channel, one of largest channels of Chinese researchers at all career stages within STM and social sciences. The respondents of the survey fell into one of the following categories:Undergraduate student,Master’s student,PhD candidate,Researcher,Research manager,Researcher with research management responsibilities, and Librarian. The survey included 14 main questions on the topics of access to research integrity and publishing ethics training, experience levels in publishing in scholarly journals(including using third-party services),authorship experiences and behaviours, levels of concern about different types of research integrity issues, and perceptions on who the respondents think are primarily responsible for upholding research integrity standards and training in publishing ethics. After applying inclusion criteria,1,777 responses were included in the analysis.Findings:Amongst the 1,777 respondents included in the study results, only 55.4%had any access to training in research integrity and publishing ethics, and an even smaller proportion to formal training.Even amongst cohorts with access to training(where respondents in the Researcher cohort have the highest access),answers to the questions on authorship and third-party services reveal many areas of confusion regarding authorship criteria and responsibilities in publishing ethics. In particular, the responses also show limited knowledge in recognising unethical service offerings by third-party services(e.g.adding authors, citations and data/images).The survey responses also show that even though respondents in the undergraduate cohort are already actively publishing articles as well as using third-party manuscript preparation/editing services, they have limited access to training and have high levels of uncertainty about authorship responsibilities.Out of all key stakeholders, respondents perceive research institutions to be mainly responsible for upholding research integrity standards as well as providing access to training.Research limitations:As with all voluntary online surveys, the study design includes inherent limitations due to the self-reported nature of the responses. The respondents who participate are likely to have a particular interest and a higher level of awareness about the survey topic, and so the self-selecting nature of the participants can introduce personal biases, which can affect the overall results. This survey was sent to members of a WeChat channel focused on journal rankings, which also discusses research integrity issues,so the respondents may not provide a general representation of their career stage/subject discipline cohorts. The sample sizes were not comparable across all cohorts,so direct comparisons could not always be made.Instead, where appropriate, separate comparisons were made between Undergraduate students,Master’s students,PhD candidates and Researchers(29.26%-18.68%of respondents),or between Research managers,Researcher with research management responsibilities and Librarians(4.28%-2.53%of respondents).Practical implications:It is important to ensure that research integrity and publishing ethics training and education needs are being met for researchers at all levels, including undergraduates.Findings from the survey highlight the importance of establishing training and education programmes tailored towards addressing specific areas of common confusion or limited awareness, especially to reduce the risk of unintentional misconduct. The findings from this survey can be used to inform training and education partnerships and collaborations across key stakeholders, including research institutions and publishers,so that we can collectively improve the overall integrity of scholarly publishing.A table of recommendations and a hypothetical case have been included to illustrate how this can be achieved.Originality/value:To our knowledge, this is the first survey on this topic developed via a collaboration between the research integrity team at an international scholarly publisher and scientometrics researchers based in China.Sharing our perspectives and experience to develop the survey questions has helped to highlight the common areas of confusion regarding authorship responsibilities and ethical third-party service offerings within researchers in China, even amongst those who do have access to training.展开更多

The interactive relationship of social network contains a lot of personal privacy information. The direct release of social network data will cause the disclosure of privacy information. Aiming at the dynamic characteristics of social network data release, a new dynamic social network data publishing method based on differential privacy was proposed. This method was consistent with differential privacy. It is named DDPA (Dynamic Differential Privacy Algorithm). DDPA algorithm is an improvement of privacy protection algorithm in static social network data publishing. DDPA adds noise which follows Laplace to network edge weights. DDPA identifies the edge weight information that changes as the number of iterations increases, adding the privacy protection budget. Through experiments on real data sets, the results show that the DDPA algorithm satisfies the user’s privacy requirement in social network. DDPA reduces the execution time brought by iterations and reduces the information loss rate of graph structure.展开更多

The initial idea of privacy-preserving data mining PPDM was to extend traditional data mining techniques to work with the data modified to mask sensitive information. The key issues were how to modify the data and how to recover the data mining result from the modified data. Privacy-preserving data mining considers the problem of running data mining algorithms on confidential data that is not supposed to be revealed even to the party running the algorithm. In contrast, privacy-preserving data publishing (PPDP) may not necessarily be tied to a specific data mining task, and the data mining task may be unknown at the time of data publishing. PPDP studies how to transform raw data into a version that is immunized against privacy attacks but that still supports effective data mining tasks. Privacy-preserving for both data mining (PPDM) and data publishing (PPDP) has become increasingly popular because it allows sharing of privacy sensitive data for analysis purposes. One well studied approach is the k-anonymity model [1] which in turn led to other models such as confidence bounding, l-diversity, t-closeness, (α,k)-anonymity, etc. In particular, all known mechanisms try to minimize information loss and such an attempt provides a loophole for attacks. The aim of this paper is to present a survey for most of the common attacks techniques for anonymization-based PPDM & PPDP and explain their effects on Data Privacy.展开更多

The logical model, physical model, and optimization method of MRSSDE are discussed in detail. Compared to the ArcSDE, which is the leading product of Spatial Database Engine, the MRSSDE proved to be more effective.
文摘Social network contains the interaction between social members, which constitutes the structure and attribute of social network. DDPA reduces the execution time brought by iterations and reduces the information loss rate of graph structure.

文摘Purpose:Recently,a vast number of scientific publications have been produced in cities in emerging countries. It has long been observed that the publication output of Beijing has exceeded that of any other city in the world, including such leading centres of science as Boston,New York,London,Paris, and Tokyo.Researchers have suggested that, instead of focusing on cities'total publication output, the quality of the output in terms of the number of highly cited papers should be examined. However,in the period from 2014 to 2016,Beijing produced as many highly cited papers as Boston,London,or New York.In this paper, another method is proposed to measure cities'publishing performance by focusing on cities'publishing efficiency(i.e.,the ratio of highly cited articles to all articles produced in that city).Design/methodology/approach:First,554 cities are ranked based on their publishing efficiency, then some general factors influencing cities'publishing efficiency are revealed. The general factors examined in this paper are as follows:the linguistic environment of cities, cities'economic development level, the location of excellent organisations, cities'international collaboration patterns, and their scientific field profile.Furthermore, the paper examines the fundamental differences between the general factors influencing the publishing efficiency of the top 100 most efficient cities and the bottom 100 least efficient cities.Findings:Based on the research results, the conclusion can be drawn that a city's publishing efficiency will be high if meets the following general conditions:it is in a country in the Anglosphere-Core;it is in a high-income country;it is home to top-ranked universities and/or world-renowned research institutions;researchers affiliated with that city most intensely collaborate with researchers affiliated with cities in the United States,Germany,England,France,Canada,Australia, and Italy;and the most productive scientific disciplines of highly cited articles are published in high-impact multidisciplinary journals, disciplines in health sciences(especially general internal medicine and oncology),and disciplines in natural sciences(especially physics, astronomy, and astrophysics).Research limitations:It is always problematic to demarcate the boundaries of cities(e.g.,New York City vs.Greater New York),and regarding this issue there is no consensus among researchers. The Web of Science presents the name of cities in the addresses reported by theauthors of publications. In this paper cities correspond to the spatial units between the country/state level and the institution level as indicated in the Web of Science.Furthermore,it is necessary to highlight that the Web of Science is biased towards English-language journals and journals published in the field of biomedicine. These facts may influence the outcome of the research.Practical implications:Publishing efficiency,as an indicator, shows how successful a city is at the production of science.Naturally, cities have limited opportunities to compete for components of the science establishment(e.g.,universities,hospitals).However,cities can compete to attract innovation-oriented companies, high tech firms, and R&D facilities of multinational companies by for example establishing science parks. The positive effect of this process on the city's performance in science can be observed in the example of Beijing, which publishing efficiency has been increased rapidly.Originality/value:Previous scientometric studies have examined cities'publication output in terms of the number of papers,or the number of highly cited papers, which are largely size dependent indicators;however this paper attempts to present a more quality-based approach.

文摘In recent years, mobile Internet technology and location based services have wide application.Application providers and users have accumulated huge amount of trajectory data. While publishing and analyzing user trajectory data have brought great convenience for people, the disclosure risks of user privacy caused by the trajectory data publishing are also becoming more and more prominent.Traditional k-anonymous trajectory data publishing technologies cannot effectively protect user privacy against attackers with strong background knowledge. For privacy preserving trajectory data publishing,we propose a differential privacy based(k-Ψ)-anonymity method to defend against re-identification and probabilistic inference attack. The proposed method is divided into two phases:in the first phase,a dummy-based(k-Ψ)-anonymous trajectory data publishing algorithm is given, which improves(k-δ)-anonymity by considering changes of thresholdδon different road segments and constructing an adaptive threshold setΨthat takes into account road network information. In the second phase,Laplace noise regarding distance of anonymous locations under differential privacy is used for trajectory perturbation of the anonymous trajectory dataset outputted by the first phase.Experiments on real road network dataset are performed and the results show that the proposed method improves the trajectory indistinguishability and achieves good data utility in condition of preserving user privacy.
文摘The research takes three fundamental Internet Academic Journals (IAJ), which are China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chongqing VIP Information Co., Ltd. (VIP) and Beijing Wanfang Data Co., Ltd. (WFD), as subjects to discuss digital publishing mechanism innovations for China’s science information communication system. After introducing main Internet environment, comparing journal characteristics, and explaining publishing & operation modes of the IAJs, the paper analyses important issues such as redundant contents, digitalization issues, illegal journals, standards construction, copyright and benefit distribution. By learning from research practices and open access, a new benefit distribution and copyright management mode based on the Third Party Agency (TPA) is proposed. Future IAJs operation modes are also discussed from the view of scientific research innovation and state of the art platform construction.
文摘Data mining is the extraction of vast interesting patterns or knowledge from huge amount of data. The aim of this paper is to present a survey for most of the common attacks techniques for anonymization-based PPDM & PPDP and explain their effects on Data Privacy.
