Panus conchatus is a species of lentinoid fungi in the family Polyporaceae. This species is characterized by its concave, smooth, deeply decurrent gills, with distinctive purple grey to greyish magenta basidiocarps. This fungus is widely distributed in both tropical and temperate regions. Here,we report a specimen of P.conchatus collected from a temperate region in Yunnan Province,China. The specimen is described and illustrated based on macro-and micro-morphological characteristics.Phylogenetic analyses were done based on the sequence data of ITS and LSU,and the placement of the taxon was confirmed. This is the first time P.conchatus has been reported with molecular phylogenetic data from China.Full description, illustrations, color photographs, and a phylogenetic tree to show the placement of P.conchatus are provided. 展开更多

A literature-based checklist of polypores reported from Kerala State,India is deduced.Altogether 148 species of polypores under 8 families belonging to 68 genera are recorded. The checklist is prepared after reviewing all the available literature and most of them have been published during the last two decades. The geographical distribution of polypores is presented districts wise, including all the 14 districts of Kerala state. The family Polyporaceae has the highest number of species(80),followed by Hymenochaetaceae(37),Fomitopsidaceae(9),Meripilaceae(7),Ganodermataceae(7),Meruliaceae(5),Schizoporaceae(2)and Phanerochaetaceae with a single species. The genus Trametes had the highest representation with 16 species followed by Lentinus and Phellinus with 13 species each. There is no comprehensive studies have been undertaken on the diversity, distribution and functional attributes of polypore fungi in Kerala parts of Western Ghats, which undoubtedly hosting the highest mycodiversity This list is inconclusive and covers only a part of the actual diversity of polypores in Kerala as most of the forest areas are unexplored for the polypore diversity documentation. 展开更多

As a part of the documentation of the polyporoid fungi of Kerala State,India, two interesting polypore specimens were collected.Morphological and molecular characterization revealed the identity of two species as Neofomitella guangxiensis and Sebipora aquosa, which were reported as new records to India. We present the taxonomy of the two species based on morphology and molecular phylogenetic data. 展开更多

The taxonomic and nomenclatural history of the genus Ganoderma and related basidiomycetes is reviewed and compared to recent studies on its molecular phylogeny.A basidiomycete belonging to the genus Ganoderma can often rather easily be recognised in the field from the macromorphological characters of the sporocarp. The most important species and lineages can also be discriminated well by molecular phylogeny. However, the application of incongruent species concepts and the frequent misapplication of European names by chemists and other non-taxonomists have created confusion in the scientific literature. The identity of the species reported in the course of mycochemical studies can often not be verified, since no voucher material was retained. In this review,an overview on the most important types of specific chemotaxonomic traits(i.e.,secondary metabolites of the basidiomes and mycelia)reported from the genus is provided.Albeit certain triterpenoids such as ganoderic and lucidenic acids,steroids(e.g.ergosterol)and triterpenes(e.g.friedelin)appear to have some chemotaxonomic value at the generic rank, their relevance for species discrimination remains to be assessed. We propose that all important names in Ganoderma should be,as required, epitypified by fresh collections for which living cultures should be made available and that these should be examined by a combination of morphological, chemotaxonomic and molecular phylogenetic methods to attain a more stable taxonomy. 展开更多

A phylogenetic analysis of Trametes and related taxa is proposed, based on a wide sampling of temperate and tropical species.Concatenate sequences of ribosomal DNA(ITS1-5.8S-ITS2)and RPB2 gene from mycelia cultures were analyzed by Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian methods, whilst morphological features were documented from the corresponding herbarium vouchers.Congruent results were obtained from analyses of ribosomal LSU sequences downloaded from Genbank. The Bayesian analysis of ITS+RPB2 sequences gave the best resolution for the phylogenetic reconstructions and revealed the existence of three main lineages in the Trametes-clade:1)a monospecific lineage represented by Artolenzites elegans 2)a lineage including the genus Pycnoporus in its traditional sense and several species usually classified in the genus Trametes(T.cingulata,T.lactinea,T.ljubarskyi,T.menziesii)&3)a lineage corresponding to the core genus Trametes, including type species of Trametes,Coriolopsis and Lenzites. The presence of a pseudostipe, aspect and structure of the abhymenial surface, colour change with 5%aqueous solutions of potassium hydroxide and topography of pigments on skeletal hyphae gave relevant morphological support to these clades. When the structure of the hymenial surface, presence of a black line below the tomentum and color of context(except for genus Pycnoporus)usually used in traditional polypore-classifications did not reveal any phylogenetic significance.A partial systematic arrangement of the Trametes clade is proposed, with the introduction of a new genus:Leiotrametes Welti&Courtec.gen.nov..Two new combinations:Leiotrametes lactinea(Berk.)Welti&Courtec.comb.nov.and L.menziesii(Berk.)Welti&Courtec.comb.nov.are proposed. 展开更多
