While people with borderline personality disorder use emergency services frequently, clinicians often face difficulties when providing medical and behavioral services to these patients. It may be difficult for nurse practitioners to determine if a patient with BPD who presents to the ED in crisis should be admitted, medicated, observed, or discharged. Self-harm is frequently confused with suicide attempts, which can result in unnecessary hospitalizations. This case study seeks to examine the proper management and difficulties encountered by healthcare providers in managing crises involving individuals with BPD in ED settings. The case study underscores the significance of thorough evaluation, recognition of BPD characteristics, active engagement in treatment, the therapeutic alliance, and the emphasis on interpersonal connections and stressors alongside the utilization of psychopharmacology.展开更多

The impact of “Big Five” on physical health is here explored for older Europeans with a focus on examining age groups differences. The study sample included 378,500 respondents derived from the seventh data wave of Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The physical health status of older Europeans was estimated by constructing an index considering the combined effect of well-established health indicators such as the number of chronic diseases, mobility limitations, limitations with basic and instrumental activities of daily living, and self-perceived health. This index was used for an overall physical health assessment, for which the higher the score for an individual, the worst health level. Then, through a dichotomization process applied to the retrieved Principal Component Analysis scores, a two-group discrimination (good or bad health status) of SHARE participants was obtained as regards their physical health condition, allowing for further con-structing logistic regression models to assess the predictive significance of “Big Five” and their protective role for physical health. Results showed that neuroti-cism was the most significant predictor of physical health for all age groups un-der consideration, while extraversion, agreeableness and openness were not found to significantly affect the self-reported physical health levels of midlife adults aged 50 up to 64. Older adults aged 65 up to 79 were more prone to open-ness, whereas the oldest old individuals aged 80 up to 105 were mainly affected by openness and conscientiousness. .展开更多

These relationships are important because behavioral syndromes, defined here as correlated behavioral phenotypes, can constrain evolutionary responses. However, the strength and direction of relationships between social and non-socialpersonality traits remain unclear. In this project, we examine social and non-social personality traits, and the relationships between them, in thepaper wasp Polistes fuscatus. With a novel assay, we identify 5 personality traits, 2 non-social (exploration and activity), and 3 social (aggression, affiliation, and antennation) personality traits. We also find that social and non-social personality traits are phenotypically linked. We find apositive correlation between aggression and activity and a negative correlation between affiliation and activity. We also find a positive correlation between exploration and activity. Our work is an important step in understanding how phenotypic linkage between social and non-socialbehaviors may influence behavioral evolution. As a burgeoning model system for the study of genetic and neurobiological mechanisms of socialbehavior, Polistes fuscatus has the potential to add to this work by exploring the causes and consequences of individual behavioral variation.展开更多

文摘Drawing upon the Conservation of Resources theory, this study investigated the relationship between proactive personality and strengths use,as well as the mediating role of psychological safety and the moderating role of exploitative leadership within this relationship.Data were collected from 368 employees(females=57.61%;mean age=32.35;SD=6.31)working in various organizations in China at two points in time with a two-week interval. We conducted structural equation modeling and a moderated mediation path analysis to test our hypotheses. The results demonstrated that proactive personality is positively related to strengths use and psychological safety partially mediates the association of proactive personality and strengths use.Furthermore, this study also found that exploitative leadership weakens the direct relationship between proactive personality and psychological safety and the indirect relationship of proactive personality with strengths use through psychological safety. This study identified the underlying mechanisms between proactive personality and strengths use.

文摘We examined the relationship between social support and career adaptability,as well as the mediating roles of proactive personality and career decision-making self-efficacy in this process.A total of 1354 Chinese college students(female=964;mean age=19.53 years,SD=1.33 years)completed an online questionnaire.Path analysis indicated that social support was positively associated with higher levels of career adaptability. Both proactive personality and career decision-making self-efficacy served as parallel mediators, strengthening the relationship between social support and career adaptability. The complete chain mediation analysis revealed that social support influences career adaptability primarily through proactive personality, which in turn enhances career decision-making self-efficacy,further contributing to increased career adaptability. These findings extend career capital theory by demonstrating that social and psychological resources jointly facilitate career adaptability.
文摘China is a fast-developing nation, especially in traditional concepts of emphasis on agricultural production, with millions of highly educated college students as new generations of workers enter the workforce, while promoting the booming agriculture industry in China.Concerning these new generations of ambitious college students,it is a pretty attractive career to leverage their knowledge to spread their local special rural agricultural products(agri-products)to well-known places around the nation, even the world.Meanwhile, the Chinese government also supports rural products branding via internet marketing as well as the exploitation of online technologies.Su et al.pointed out that governments in China are expected to take more effective measures to enhance adoption rates of online purchases and sales technology,in particular for entrepreneurial farmers[1].Currently,the most existing phenomenon in China is that quantities of regional rural products with excellent quality but without national popularity.Thereby,it is significant to enhance the popularity of various brands in regional agricultural products using internet marketing, and also contribute to the nation’s strategy of rural revitalization. To appeal to the nations’strategy,we are supposed to make use of brand personality(BP)traits, which probably contribute to robust internet branding of regional agricultural products. Our research will focus on the influences of differential dimensions of brand personality(BP)in terms of common rural products, additionally,we also attempt to design a BP model for internet branding of agricultural products in China.Furthermore, from the two perspectives of characteristics in rural areas(agricultural producers and agricultural consumers),measures to assist agricultural producers in building their brands through the application of internet tools and marketing should be recognized. On the other side, methods to enhance agricultural consumers’brand loyalty also need to be captured.

文摘Animals constantly need to evaluate available external and internal information to make appropriate decisions.Identifying, assessing, and acting on relevant cues in contexts such as mate choice,intra-sexual competition, and parental care is particularly important for optimizing individual reproductive success.Several factors can infuence decision-making,such as external environmental cues and the animal’s own internal state, yet,we have limited knowledge on how animals integrate available information. Here,we used an entire island population(57 males,53 females, and 1,109 tadpoles)of the neotropical brilliant-thighed poison frog Allobates femoralis to investigate how 2 factors(olfactory cues and personality traits)infuence the ability of males to fnd and use new resources for tadpole deposition. We experimentally manipulated the location of tadpole deposition sites and their associated olfactory cues, and repeatedly measured exploration and boldness in adult males. We further reconstructed tadpole deposition choices via inferred parent–offspring relationships of adult frogs and tadpoles deposited in our experimental pools using molecular parentage analysis. We found that the discovery and use of new rearing sites were heavily infuenced by olfactory cues;however,we did not fnd an effect of the measured behavioral traits on resource discovery and use.We conclude that in highly dynamic environments such as tropical rainforests, reliable external cues likely take priority over personality traits, helping individuals to discover and make use of reproductive resources.
文摘Investigating the role of Big Five personality traits in relation to various health outcomes has been extensively studied. Older adults aged 65 up to 79 were more prone to open-ness, whereas the oldest old individuals aged 80 up to 105 were mainly affected by openness and conscientiousness. .
文摘This paper introduces a cutting-edge framework for personalized chronic pain management, leveraging the power of artificial intelligence(AI)and personality insights. It explores the intricate relationship between personality traits and pain perception, expression, and management, identifying key correlations that influence an individual’s experience of pain.By integrating personality psychology with AI-driven personality assessment, this framework offers a novel approach to tailoring chronic pain management strategies for each patient’s unique personality profile. It highlights the relevance of well-established personality theories such as the Big Five and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI)in shaping personalized pain management plans.Additionally, the paper introduces multimodal AI-driven personality assessment, emphasizing the ethical considerations and data collection processes necessary for its implementation.Through illustrative case studies, the paper exemplifies how this framework can lead to more effective and patient-centered pain relief, ultimately enhancing overall well-being.In conclusion, the paper positions the need of an“AI-Powered Holistic Pain Management Initiative”which has the potential to transform chronic pain management by providing personalized,data-driven solutions and create a multifaceted research impact influencing clinical practice, patient outcomes, healthcare policy, and the broader scientific community’s understanding of personalized medicine and AI-driven interventions.

文摘Two questions in the research of animal personality—whether there is a correlation between a personality trait and individual reproductive success, and what is the genetic basis underlying a personality trait—remain unresolved. We addressed these two questions in three shrub-nesting birds, the Azure-winged Magpie(Cyanopica cyanus,AM),White-collared Blackbird(Turdus albocinctus,WB),and Brown-cheeked Laughingthrush(Trochalopteron henrici,BL).The personality type of an individual was first identified according to its response to a territorial intruder. Then,we compared the fleeing distance, breeding parameters, and differential expressed genes(DEGs) in the brain transcriptome between bold and shy breeders. In the three species, bold breeders exhibited more aggressiveness towards an intruder of their territory than did shy breeders. The reproductive success of bold breeders was significantly higher than that of shy breeders in AM but not in WB and BL.The three species shared one DEG,crabp1,which was up-regulated in bold relative to in shy individuals.By regulating the expression of corticotropin-releasing hormone, higher crabp1 gene expression can decrease cellular response to retinoic acid. Therefore, bold individuals are insensitive to external stresses and able to exhibit more aggressiveness to intruders than their shier counterparts.Aggressiveness is beneficial to bold individuals in AM but not in WB and BL because the former could evoke neighbors to make the same response of defending against intruders but the latter could not.Although a personality trait may have the same genetic basis across species, its correlation with reproductive success depends largely on the life history style of a species.

文摘Although much work has focused on non-social personality traits such as activity, exploration, and neophobia, there is a growing appreciationthat social personality traits play an important role in group dynamics, disease transmission, and fitness and that social personality traits maybe linked to non-social personality traits. As a burgeoning model system for the study of genetic and neurobiological mechanisms of socialbehavior, Polistes fuscatus has the potential to add to this work by exploring the causes and consequences of individual behavioral variation.
