However, when the locomotive passes the electric phase separation, a variety of overvoltages will be generated, such as the cut-off overvoltage and the closing overvoltage. In this paper, the causes of the two overvoltages above are analyzed theoretically and simulated in Simulink. Then this paper discusses the suppression effects on the cut-off overvoltage and the closing overvoltage by paralleling the nonlinear resistance and the main breaker, or parallelling the nonlinear resistance and the locomotive transformer. The simulation results show that parallelling the nonlinear resistance and the locomotive transformer has suppressive effects on the two overvoltages mentioned above.展开更多

The effect of different arresters needs to be studied, since installing arresters is an important way to suppress switching overvoltages in UHV transmission lines. Switching overvoltages on the 1000 kV Huainan-Huxi double-circuit transmission line were simulated for different operating modes and different arrester designs using the electromagnetic transient program PSCAD/EMTDC. With parallel resistors, the switching overvoltages are less than 1.70 p.u. (1.0 p.u.=1100×√ 2 /√3 kV). If the arrestors are better, the switching overvoltages can be reduced even lower to 1.55 p.u. Without parallel resistors, the arresters can reduce three-phase energizing overvoltages to 1.70 p.u, while the single-phase reclosing overvoltages still exceed the limit. The results show that the parallel resistors cannot be eliminated if the arresters are only installed at each end of the transmission line. Also, better quality arresters significantly lower the switching overvoltages.展开更多
The integration of large-scale new energy and high-capacity DC transmission leads to a reduction in system inertia.Grid-forming renewable energy sources(GF-RES)has a significant improvement effect on system inertia.Co...The integration of large-scale new energy and high-capacity DC transmission leads to a reduction in system inertia.Grid-forming renewable energy sources(GF-RES)has a significant improvement effect on system inertia.Commutation failure faults may cause a short-term reactive power surplus at the sending end and trigger transient overvoltage,threatening the safe and stable operation of the power grid.However,there is a lack of research on the calculation method of transient overvoltage caused by commutation failure in high-voltage DC transmission systems with grid-forming renewable energy sources integration.Based on the existing equivalent model of highvoltage DC transmission systems at the sending end,this paper proposes to construct a model of the high-voltage DC transmission system at the sending end with grid-forming renewable energy sources.The paper first clarifies the mechanism of overvoltage generation,then considers the reactive power droop control characteristics of GF-RES,and derives the transient voltage calculation model of theDC transmission system with GF-RES integration.It also proposes a calculation method for transient overvoltage at the sending-end converter bus with GF-RES integration.Based on the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation platform,this paper builds an experimental simulation model.By constructing three different experimental scenarios,the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed transient overvoltage calculation method are verified,with a calculation error within 5%.At the same time,this paper quantitatively analyzes the impact of grid strength,new energy proportion,and rated transmission power on transient overvoltage from three different perspectives.展开更多

These lines are crossed by powerful current sources to dissipate in the ground, which ca...Electric towers of high voltage transmission lines are more exposed to natural lightning phenomena thanks to their high heights. These lines are crossed by powerful current sources to dissipate in the ground, which can, at one time or another, create disturbances or other phenomena can be generated. This is why we have set ourselves the objective of studying the FDTD modeling of the influence of direct lightning strikes on the power transmitted by a High-Voltage power line. To do this, we have implemented Kirchhoff’s laws to model the power transmitted by a High-Voltage power line in a steady state. Calculating the electromagnetic field generated by lightning requires the lightning current along the channel and its spatiotemporal distribution, the bi-exponential models and that of engineers were chosen and used to reproduce the physical phenomena best. Several works have been published in the literature and various mathematical models are proposed, to study the filamentous nature of power lines which has led to a more flexible modelling, based on the transmission line model, associated with the field theory developed from Maxwell’s equations, which explain the interaction between a lightning wave and a power transmission line. The resolution of the line equations in the lightning shock regime was the subject of the FDTD method to obtain the results in the spatio-temporal domain. Through this research, we are interested in the study of the spatiotemporal distribution of the lightning current wave to model the radiated electromagnetic field and to examine the influence of the overvoltage induced by the atmospheric discharge on the transportable power of a High Voltage AC Transmission line, for good selective protection to illuminate the parasites. 2D simulations based on proposed models were developed as well as the verification of the consistency of the different models, by comparing the fractal dimensions of the results of our program with those of the figures obtained experimentally. The aspects developed in this article could have direct implications in practical applications in the engineering and design of high-voltage transmission systems.展开更多
Rechargeable lithium-oxygen(Li-O_(2))batteries have attracted wide attention due to their high energy density.However,the sluggish cathode kinetics results in high overvoltage and poor cycling performance.Ruthenium(Ru...Rechargeable lithium-oxygen(Li-O_(2))batteries have attracted wide attention due to their high energy density.However,the sluggish cathode kinetics results in high overvoltage and poor cycling performance.Ruthenium(Ru)-based electrocatalysts have been demonstrated to be promising cathode catalysts to promote oxygen evolution reaction(OER).It facilitates decomposition of lithium peroxide(Li_(2)O_(2))by adjusting Li_(2)O_(2) morphologies,which is due to the strong interaction between Ru-based catalyst and superoxide anion(O_(2))intermediate.In this review,the design strategies of Ru-based electrocatalysts are introduced to enhance their OER catalytic kinetics in Li-O_(2) batteries.Different configurations of Ru-based catalysts,including metal particles(Ru metal and alloys),single-atom catalysts,and Ru-loaded compounds with various substrates(carbon materials,metal oxides/sulfides),have been summarized to regulate the electronic structure and the matrix architecture of the Ru-based electrocatalysts.The structure-property relationship of Ru-based catalysts is discussed for a better understanding of the Li_(2)O_(2) decomposition mechanism at the cathode interface.Finally,the challenges of Ru-based electrocatalysts are proposed for the future development of Li-O_(2) batteries.展开更多

The line commutated converter-based HVDC(LCCHVDC) has become a vital structure for HVDC due ...High-voltage direct current(HVDC) transmission is a crucial way to solve the reverse distribution of clean energy and loads. The line commutated converter-based HVDC(LCCHVDC) has become a vital structure for HVDC due to its high technological maturity and economic advantages. During the DC fault of LCC-HVDC, such as commutation failure, the reactive power regulation of the AC grid always lags the DC control process, causing overvoltage in the AC sending grid, which brings off-grid risk to the wind power generation based on power electronic devices. Nevertheless, considering that wind turbine generators have fast and flexible reactive power control capability, optimizing the reactive power control of wind turbines to participate in the transient overvoltage suppression of the sending grid not only improves the operational safety at the equipment level but also enhances the voltage stability of the system. This paper firstly analyses the impact of wind turbine's reactive power on AC transient overvoltage. Then, it proposes an improved voltage-reactive power control strategy, which contains a reactive power control delay compensation and a power command optimization based on the voltage time series prediction. The delay compensation is used to reduce the contribution of the untimely reactive power of wind turbines on transient overvoltage, and the power command optimization enables wind turbines to have the ability to regulate transient overvoltage, leading to the variation of AC voltage, thus suppressing the transient overvoltage. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method are verified in a ±800kV/5000MW LCC-HVDC sending grid model based on MATLAB/Simulink.展开更多
Purpose–Auxiliary power system is an indispensable part of the train;the auxiliary systems of both electric locomotives and EMUs mainly are powered by one of the two ways,which are either from auxiliary windings of t...Purpose–Auxiliary power system is an indispensable part of the train;the auxiliary systems of both electric locomotives and EMUs mainly are powered by one of the two ways,which are either from auxiliary windings of traction transformers or from DC-link voltage of traction converters.Powered by DC-link voltage of traction converters,the auxiliary systems were maintained of uninterruptable power supply with energy from electric braking.Meanwhile,powered by traction transformers,the auxiliary systems were always out of power while passing the neutral section of power supply grid and control system is powered by battery at this time.Design/methodology/approach–Uninterrupted power supply of auxiliary power system powered by auxiliary winding of traction transformer was studied.Failure reasons why previous solutions cannot be realized are analyzed.An uninterruptable power supply scheme for the auxiliary systems powered by auxiliary windings of traction transformers is proposed in this paper.The validity of the proposed scheme is verified by simulation and experimental results and on-site operation of an upgraded HXD3C type locomotive.This scheme is attractive for upgrading practical locomotives with the auxiliary systems powered by auxiliary windings of traction transformers.Findings–This scheme regenerates braking power supplied to auxiliary windings of traction transformers while a locomotive runs in the neutral section of the power supply grid.Control objectives of uninterrupted power supply technology are proposed,which are no overvoltage,no overcurrent and uninterrupted power supply.Originality/value–The control strategies of the scheme ensure both overvoltage free and inrush current free when a locomotive enters or leaves the neutral section.Furthermore,this scheme is cost low by employing updated control strategy of software and add both the two current sensors and two connection wires of hardware.展开更多

This paper presents the results of an investigation on the influence of the distance between transformer and MV arresters on the surges at the transformer windings caused by direct strikes to the MV network. The analysis, performed through simulations using the Alternative Transients Program, shows that in general higher voltages are produced by subsequent strokes. Although in relation to the primary side the surges transferred to the secondary are much less affected by the distance between transformers and primary arresters, such distance should always be kept as short as possible in order to reduce the probability of occurrence of transformer failures due to over-voltages at the MV bushings.展开更多

Improving the trigger performance of gas switches is useful for optimizing the output parameters and the reliability of the FLTD. In this paper, the breakdown characteristics of the trigger gap and the overvoltage gap are studied experimentally. The reasons for the different breakdown performance of the two gaps are also investigated. The results show that the breakdown delay of the trigger gap is more influenced by the trigger voltage, while the breakdown delay of the overvoltage gap is more influenced by the working coefficient and always higher than that of the trigger gap. The jitter of the trigger gap is more influenced by the trigger voltage and accounts more than 60% of the total switch jitter, while the jitter of the overvoltage gap is hardly changed with the trigger voltage as well as the working coefficient and maintains less than 1.4 ns. It is proved that the discharging product from the trigger gap can effectively reduce the breakdown delay and jitter of the overvoltage gap. Based on that, the effect and improvement of pre-ionization on the two gaps are also studied. It is concluded that the jitter of the trigger gap reduces obviously when the pre-ionization is added, while the pre-ionization almost has no effect on the jitter of the overvoltage gap. The jitter of the overvoltage gap is about two times higher than the trigger gap in the pre-ionizing switch.展开更多
This paper analyzes lightning surge on the stator windings of wind turbine generators.The path of lightning in the wind turbines was analyzed.An equivalent circuit model for megawatt direct-driven wind turbine system ...This paper analyzes lightning surge on the stator windings of wind turbine generators.The path of lightning in the wind turbines was analyzed.An equivalent circuit model for megawatt direct-driven wind turbine system was developed,in which high-frequency distributed parameters of the blade conducts,tower,power cables and stator windings of generator were calculated based on finite element method,and the models of converter,grounding,loads, surge protection devices and power grid were established.The voltage distribution along stator windings,when struck by lightning with 10/350μs wave form and different amplitude current between 50 kA and 200 kA,was simulated using electro-magnetic transient analysis method.The simulated results show that the highest coil-to-core voltage peak appears on the last coil or near the neutral of stator windings,and the voltage distribution along the windings is nonuniform initially.The voltage drops of each coil fall from first to last coil,and the highest voltage drop appears on the first coil.The insulation damage may occur on the windings under lightning overvoltage.The surge arresters can restrain the lightning surge in effect and protect the insulation.The coil-to-core voltage in the end of windings is nearly 19.5 kV under the 200 kA lightning current without surge arresters on the terminal of generator,but is only 2.7 kV with arresters.展开更多

The effects of some factors, i.e. the temperature, the anodic current density, the concentration of Nd2O3 and the components of the electrolyte were investigated and the approaches to decrease the anodic overvoltage were also discussed. The results show that the anodic overvoltage increases with the anodic current density and decreases with the increasing temperature. The linear relation between the anodic overvoltage and the current density corresponding to Tafel equation is determined to some extent. The anodic overvoltage decreases with the increasing concentrations of LiF and NdF3. It also decreases by controlling the anodic current density properly, increasing the temperature or the concentrations of LiF and NdF3 and the reducing polar distance.展开更多
For the further analysis and suppression of the electric locomotives neutral-section passing overvoltage, on the basis of theoretical analysis of the neutral-section passing harmonic resonance conditions, this paper e...For the further analysis and suppression of the electric locomotives neutral-section passing overvoltage, on the basis of theoretical analysis of the neutral-section passing harmonic resonance conditions, this paper establishes simplified harmonic resonance simulation models of the electric locomotives neutral-section passing using MATLAB/Simulink, and makes the overvoltage simulation analysis of the existing electric locomotives neutral-section passing system in the event of a harmonic resonance. Results show that when the system harmonic resonance occurs, the operating overvoltage of the neutral-section passing is serious intensified by the overvoltage of the harmonic resonance, which will make the voltage of the pantograph collector head exceeding 100kV. This amplitude of the overvoltage will breakdown the air gap, which will be a serious threat to the safety operation of the electric railway. However, this kind of neutral-section passing overvoltage hasn’t cause the attention in the field and theoretical studies, which need more analysis and verification in the further study.展开更多

文摘Rechargeable lithium-oxygen(Li-O_(2))batteries have attracted wide attention due to their high energy density.However,the sluggish cathode kinetics results in high overvoltage and poor cycling performance.Ruthenium(Ru)-based electrocatalysts have been demonstrated to be promising cathode catalysts to promote oxygen evolution reaction(OER).It facilitates decomposition of lithium peroxide(Li_(2)O_(2))by adjusting Li_(2)O_(2) morphologies,which is due to the strong interaction between Ru-based catalyst and superoxide anion(O_(2))intermediate.In this review,the design strategies of Ru-based electrocatalysts are introduced to enhance their OER catalytic kinetics in Li-O_(2) batteries.Different configurations of Ru-based catalysts,including metal particles(Ru metal and alloys),single-atom catalysts,and Ru-loaded compounds with various substrates(carbon materials,metal oxides/sulfides),have been summarized to regulate the electronic structure and the matrix architecture of the Ru-based electrocatalysts.The structure-property relationship of Ru-based catalysts is discussed for a better understanding of the Li_(2)O_(2) decomposition mechanism at the cathode interface.Finally,the challenges of Ru-based electrocatalysts are proposed for the future development of Li-O_(2) batteries.

文摘High-voltage direct current(HVDC) transmission is a crucial way to solve the reverse distribution of clean energy and loads. The line commutated converter-based HVDC(LCCHVDC) has become a vital structure for HVDC due to its high technological maturity and economic advantages. During the DC fault of LCC-HVDC, such as commutation failure, the reactive power regulation of the AC grid always lags the DC control process, causing overvoltage in the AC sending grid, which brings off-grid risk to the wind power generation based on power electronic devices. Nevertheless, considering that wind turbine generators have fast and flexible reactive power control capability, optimizing the reactive power control of wind turbines to participate in the transient overvoltage suppression of the sending grid not only improves the operational safety at the equipment level but also enhances the voltage stability of the system. This paper firstly analyses the impact of wind turbine's reactive power on AC transient overvoltage. Then, it proposes an improved voltage-reactive power control strategy, which contains a reactive power control delay compensation and a power command optimization based on the voltage time series prediction. The delay compensation is used to reduce the contribution of the untimely reactive power of wind turbines on transient overvoltage, and the power command optimization enables wind turbines to have the ability to regulate transient overvoltage, leading to the variation of AC voltage, thus suppressing the transient overvoltage. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method are verified in a ±800kV/5000MW LCC-HVDC sending grid model based on MATLAB/Simulink.
文摘Purpose–Auxiliary power system is an indispensable part of the train;the auxiliary systems of both electric locomotives and EMUs mainly are powered by one of the two ways,which are either from auxiliary windings of traction transformers or from DC-link voltage of traction converters.Powered by DC-link voltage of traction converters,the auxiliary systems were maintained of uninterruptable power supply with energy from electric braking.Meanwhile,powered by traction transformers,the auxiliary systems were always out of power while passing the neutral section of power supply grid and control system is powered by battery at this time.Design/methodology/approach–Uninterrupted power supply of auxiliary power system powered by auxiliary winding of traction transformer was studied.Failure reasons why previous solutions cannot be realized are analyzed.An uninterruptable power supply scheme for the auxiliary systems powered by auxiliary windings of traction transformers is proposed in this paper.The validity of the proposed scheme is verified by simulation and experimental results and on-site operation of an upgraded HXD3C type locomotive.This scheme is attractive for upgrading practical locomotives with the auxiliary systems powered by auxiliary windings of traction transformers.Findings–This scheme regenerates braking power supplied to auxiliary windings of traction transformers while a locomotive runs in the neutral section of the power supply grid.Control objectives of uninterrupted power supply technology are proposed,which are no overvoltage,no overcurrent and uninterrupted power supply.Originality/value–The control strategies of the scheme ensure both overvoltage free and inrush current free when a locomotive enters or leaves the neutral section.Furthermore,this scheme is cost low by employing updated control strategy of software and add both the two current sensors and two connection wires of hardware.
文摘The paper deals with the tests on the first 500 kV compact transmission line. The transmission line stretches from Fangshan Substation to Changping Substation nearby Beijing with a length of 83 km. In order to investigate the characteristics of the transmission line, many tests were performed on the line before and after its operation. The results indicate that all electrical parameters are perfectly identical to the design.
文摘Some properties such as oscillation, stability, existence of periodic solutions and quadratic integrability of solutions based on a class of second order nonlinear delayed systems are analyzed by using the V-function, the Lyapunov functional or the Beuman-Bihari inequality, and some sufficient conditions based on those properties are given. Finally, the conclusions are applied to over-voltage models based on three-phase nonsynchronous closing of switches appearing in the power systems, the results in accord with the background physical meaning are obtained. And all the conditions of the conclusions are easy to validate, so the conclusions have definite theoretical meaning and are easy to apply in practice.
文摘Results of calculation the recovery voltages conditioned by capacitive currents switching-off by high voltage vacuum and auto-compression (SF6) circuit-breakers are presented in the article. The purpose of research was evaluating the maximum values of recovery voltages and also studying the dependence of recovery voltages on some influencing factors, especially on type of circuit-breaker presented in numerical models with its dielectric strength restoration law, chopping current and operation time. The research was carried out with using computer simulation.
文摘In the period 2003-2011, lightning over-voltages accounted for about 47% of the total number of distribution transformer failures observed in the service area ofAES Sul, a power company that operates in the state of Rio Grande doSul, in South Brazil. This paper presents the results of an investigation on the influence of the distance between transformer and MV arresters on the surges at the transformer windings caused by direct strikes to the MV network. The analysis, performed through simulations using the Alternative Transients Program, shows that in general higher voltages are produced by subsequent strokes. Although in relation to the primary side the surges transferred to the secondary are much less affected by the distance between transformers and primary arresters, such distance should always be kept as short as possible in order to reduce the probability of occurrence of transformer failures due to over-voltages at the MV bushings.

文摘Gas pressurized closing switches are one of the most important elements in FLTD-based systems. Improving the trigger performance of gas switches is useful for optimizing the output parameters and the reliability of the FLTD. In this paper, the breakdown characteristics of the trigger gap and the overvoltage gap are studied experimentally. The reasons for the different breakdown performance of the two gaps are also investigated. The results show that the breakdown delay of the trigger gap is more influenced by the trigger voltage, while the breakdown delay of the overvoltage gap is more influenced by the working coefficient and always higher than that of the trigger gap. The jitter of the trigger gap is more influenced by the trigger voltage and accounts more than 60% of the total switch jitter, while the jitter of the overvoltage gap is hardly changed with the trigger voltage as well as the working coefficient and maintains less than 1.4 ns. It is proved that the discharging product from the trigger gap can effectively reduce the breakdown delay and jitter of the overvoltage gap. Based on that, the effect and improvement of pre-ionization on the two gaps are also studied. It is concluded that the jitter of the trigger gap reduces obviously when the pre-ionization is added, while the pre-ionization almost has no effect on the jitter of the overvoltage gap. The jitter of the overvoltage gap is about two times higher than the trigger gap in the pre-ionizing switch.

文摘This paper analyzes lightning surge on the stator windings of wind turbine generators.The path of lightning in the wind turbines was analyzed.An equivalent circuit model for megawatt direct-driven wind turbine system was developed,in which high-frequency distributed parameters of the blade conducts,tower,power cables and stator windings of generator were calculated based on finite element method,and the models of converter,grounding,loads, surge protection devices and power grid were established.The voltage distribution along stator windings,when struck by lightning with 10/350μs wave form and different amplitude current between 50 kA and 200 kA,was simulated using electro-magnetic transient analysis method.The simulated results show that the highest coil-to-core voltage peak appears on the last coil or near the neutral of stator windings,and the voltage distribution along the windings is nonuniform initially.The voltage drops of each coil fall from first to last coil,and the highest voltage drop appears on the first coil.The insulation damage may occur on the windings under lightning overvoltage.The surge arresters can restrain the lightning surge in effect and protect the insulation.The coil-to-core voltage in the end of windings is nearly 19.5 kV under the 200 kA lightning current without surge arresters on the terminal of generator,but is only 2.7 kV with arresters.
文摘The anodic overvoltage of neodymium electrolysis was determined by slow scanning oscillograrn. The effects of some factors, i.e. the temperature, the anodic current density, the concentration of Nd2O3 and the components of the electrolyte were investigated and the approaches to decrease the anodic overvoltage were also discussed. The results show that the anodic overvoltage increases with the anodic current density and decreases with the increasing temperature. The linear relation between the anodic overvoltage and the current density corresponding to Tafel equation is determined to some extent. The anodic overvoltage decreases with the increasing concentrations of LiF and NdF3. It also decreases by controlling the anodic current density properly, increasing the temperature or the concentrations of LiF and NdF3 and the reducing polar distance.
文摘For the further analysis and suppression of the electric locomotives neutral-section passing overvoltage, on the basis of theoretical analysis of the neutral-section passing harmonic resonance conditions, this paper establishes simplified harmonic resonance simulation models of the electric locomotives neutral-section passing using MATLAB/Simulink, and makes the overvoltage simulation analysis of the existing electric locomotives neutral-section passing system in the event of a harmonic resonance. Results show that when the system harmonic resonance occurs, the operating overvoltage of the neutral-section passing is serious intensified by the overvoltage of the harmonic resonance, which will make the voltage of the pantograph collector head exceeding 100kV. This amplitude of the overvoltage will breakdown the air gap, which will be a serious threat to the safety operation of the electric railway. However, this kind of neutral-section passing overvoltage hasn’t cause the attention in the field and theoretical studies, which need more analysis and verification in the further study.
文摘Aiming at the complex electromagnetic transient process of EMU passing by phase-separation with electric load in high-speed railway, mechanism of overvoltage caused by switching off, overvoltage caused by switching on and impact current is analyzed systematically in this article. π-type equivalent circuit of feeding section is put forward in the analysis of overvoltage mechanism. Overvoltage and overcurrent model of passing by phase-separation with electric load are also built. Correctness of mechanism was validated by simulation. In addition, the methods to solve the influence on substations, transformers and protection devices in this process are put forward, which provides a new idea on passing by phase-separation with electric load technology.
