For identifying surface subsidence, many techniques have been employed, for example, geodetic monitoring, airborne laser subsidence measurement system,differential S.A.R., interferometry DGPS, and satellite radar measurements. However. all these methods require large time span and a large amount of field work. With the development of GIS techniques, identification of surface subsidence is becoming a relative easy problem. Ruqigou coal mining area was selected as a case study to identify the surface subsidence with DEM (digital elevation model) overlaying techniques. The result shows that DEM overlaying technique is a very useful method on surface subsidence identification. The accuracy of the results are largely dependent on the precision of the data-input.展开更多
Background In many European and American hospitals, represented by the House Ear Clinic (HEC), the overlay tympanoplasty is used with rare exception, with simultaneous canal wall up or down mastoidectomy being taken i...Background In many European and American hospitals, represented by the House Ear Clinic (HEC), the overlay tympanoplasty is used with rare exception, with simultaneous canal wall up or down mastoidectomy being taken if needed. In China, underlay tympanoplasty is used across the country, but the overlay tech-nique is used rarely. The aim of the current study was to report the authors’experience with overlay tympa-noplasty in 83 Chinese patients and study its value. Methods Eight-three patients (86 ears) underwent over-lay tympanoplasty in accordance to the standard of the HEC. The patients were followed up and conditions of the external auditory canal, tympanic membrane and hearing were reviewed and analyzed. Results All patients gained stage I incision healing. The size of external auditory canal and tympanic membrane mor-phology were satisfactory. Hearing either remained unchanged or improved. There were no hearing deterio-ration or serious complications. Conclusions Overlay tympanoplasty carries positive value in treating chron-ic otitis media and cholesteatoma with the merits of procedure standardization, adequate operative exposure, thorough disease elimination and extensive adaptation.展开更多
Compared with conventional gas reservoirs,shale gas reservoirs are not sensitive to petrophysical properties,making it much difficult to identify this kind of reservoirs with well logging technologies.Therefore,throug...Compared with conventional gas reservoirs,shale gas reservoirs are not sensitive to petrophysical properties,making it much difficult to identify this kind of reservoirs with well logging technologies.Therefore,through a comparison of the logging curves of the Lower Silurian Longmaxi marine shale in the Jiaoshiba area,Sichuan Basin,it is found that the mud shale on conventional log curves generally features high gamma ray,high uranium,low thorium,low kalium,relative high resistivity,high interval transit time,low neutron,low density and low photoelectric absorption cross section index,while on elements logging curves,it features an increase of silicon content and a decrease of aluminum and iron content.Based on the logging response characteristics of mud shale,the logging curves most sensitive to shale,gamma ray,neutron and density logging were selected and overlaid to identify mud shale effectively.On the basis of qualitative identification,the density logging value can identify the non-organic-rich mud shale from organic-rich mud shale,because the former has a density of 2.61–2.70 g/cm^(3),while the latter has a density of less than 2.61 g/cm^(3).The identification results agree well with the results of field gas content test,TOC experiment,and gas logging,so this study can provide reference for the logging interpretation.展开更多

However, the procedure of landmarks selection varies...Background CartoMerge has been widely used in guiding circumferential pulmonary vein isolation (CPVI) for the treatment of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). However, the procedure of landmarks selection varies among operators according to their experience. Techniques have to be established to standardize this procedure. We propose that Overlay Ref could facilitate this procedure. This paper aimed to report our initial experience with CPVI guided by Overlay Ref and CartoMerge for the treatment of PAF. Methods Fifty-nine patients with PAF were enrolled in this study. Using Overlay Ref technique, a reference image (inverted) was faded into the live fluoroscopic image. Landmarks of CartoMerge were selected from anatomic points of the top of superior pulmonary veins (PVs) and the bottom of inferior PVs guided by Overlay Ref image. Overlay Ref images were also used to guide the ablation procedure combining with CartoMerge. Results All patients were successfully mapped by CartoMerge guided by Overlay Ref. The distance between the mapping points and the CT surfaces was (1.42±0.67) mm for the patients as a whole. This led to a successful rate of 96% for isolation of pulmonary veins. Duration of ablation procedure was (92±17) minutes. And the total duration of procedure was (139±32) minutes. CartoMerge could also be performed just with 3 paries to 4 paries selected landmarks guided by Overlay Ref without a full anatomic model constructed by Carto. Then, the total duration of procedure could be shortened to (115±38) minutes. Conclusions Overlay Ref technique can facilitate the catheter ablation of PAF and can help to standardize the procedure of landmarks selection.展开更多
