The split-Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)is a widely used experimental technique for studying the mechanical properties of materials at high strain rates.There are two kinds of loading methods applied in the SHPB technique,namely one-side loading and symmetric loading.However,the experimental accuracy of the two loading methods is affected by the interface contact.The present study focused on the inadequate contact caused by the misalignment of the pressure bars.The commercial software ABAQUS was used for simulations.The result shows that the inadequate contact caused by the alignment of the bars has a non-negligible effect on the calculated results.Compared with the one-side loading Hopkinson pressure bar,the symmetric loading Hopkinson pressure bar has a more relaxed requirement for the alignment of the bars.The conclusion arrived at in this paper can help researchers to make a reasonable choice between one-side and symmetric loading Hopkinson pressure bars according to actual requirements. 展开更多

In this paper,a second-order fnite-diference scheme is investigated for time-dependent space fractional difusion equations with variable coefcients.In the presented scheme,the Crank-Nicolson temporal discretization and a second-order weighted-and-shifted Grünwald-Letnikov spatial discretization are employed.Theoretically,the unconditional stability and the second-order convergence in time and space of the proposed scheme are established under some conditions on the variable coefcients.Moreover,a Toeplitz preconditioner is proposed for linear systems arising from the proposed scheme.The condition number of the preconditioned matrix is proven to be bounded by a constant independent of the discretization step-sizes,so that the Krylov subspace solver for the preconditioned linear systems converges linearly.Numerical results are reported to show the convergence rate and the efciency of the proposed scheme. 展开更多

The derivation and validation of analytical equations for predicting the tensile initial stiffness of threadfixed one-side bolts(TOBs),connected to enclosed rectangular hollow section(RHS)columns,is presented in this paper.Two unknown stiffness components are considered:the TOBs connection and the enclosed RHS face.First,the trapezoidal thread of TOB,as an equivalent cantilevered beam subjected to uniformly distributed loads,is analyzed to determine the associated deformations.Based on the findings,the thread-shank serial-parallel stiffness model of TOB connection is proposed.For analysis of the tensile stiffness of the enclosed RHS face due to two bolt forces,the four sidewalls are treated as rotation constraints,thus reducing the problem to a two-dimensional plate analysis.According to the load superposition method,the deflection of the face plate is resolved into three components under various boundary and load conditions.Referring to the plate deflection theory of Timoshenko,the analytical solutions for the three deflections are derived in terms of the variables of bolt spacing,RHS thickness,height to width ratio,etc.Finally,the validity of the above stiffness equations is verified by a series of finite element(FE)models of T-stub substructures.The proposed component stiffness equations are an effective supplement to the component-based method. 展开更多

The mechanical properties of lateral polysilicon comb-driven microresonators suspended from one-side straight-leg beams, which are widely used in linear microvibromotors, are investigated in this paper. The lateral vibration of the microresonator was modeled assuming that the symmetry of the microstructures and the applied loads are different. Methods were given to calculate the stress, lateral displacement, spring coefficient, and resonant frequency. The results show that the simple mechanical model is a superfluous system with three unknown variables. The results differ from pervious results for a microresonator suspended from double-side straight-leg beams, which has been commonly used to design linear microvibromotors. 展开更多

A necessary and sufficient condition with respect to the growth of barrier is also explored to ensure the existence of a solution. And, we show that the solutions may be approximated by the penalization method and by some sequences of solutions of reflected BSDEs. These results are obtained due to the development of those existing ideas and methods together with the application of new ideas and techniques, and they unify and improve some known works. 展开更多

In this paper,we consider the stochastic differential equations with piecewise continuous arguments(SDEPCAs)in which the drift coefficient satisfies the generalized one-sided Lipschitz condition and the diffusion coefficient satisfies the linear growth condition.Since the delay term t-[t]of SDEPCAs is not continuous and differentiable,the variable substitution method is not suitable.To overcome this dificulty,we adopt new techniques to prove the boundedness of the exact solution and the numerical solution.It is proved that the truncated Euler-Maruyama method is strongly convergent to SDEPCAs in the sense of L'(q≥2).We obtain the convergence order with some additional conditions.An example is presented to illustrate the analytical theory. 展开更多

We investigate the branching structure coded by the excursion above zero of a spectrally positive Levy process. The main idea is to identify the level of the Levy excursion as the time and count the number of jumps upcrossing the level. By regarding the size of a jump as the birth site of a particle, we construct a branching particle system in which the particles undergo nonlocal branchings and deterministic spatial motions to the left on the positive half line. A particle is removed from the system as soon as it reaches the origin. Then a measure-valued Borel right Markov process can be defined as the counting measures of the particle system. Its total mass evolves according to a Crump- Mode-Jagers (CMJ) branching process and its support represents the residual life times of those existing particles. A similar result for spectrally negative Levy process is established by a time reversal approach. Properties of the measure- valued processes can be studied via the excursions for the corresponding Levy processes. 展开更多
